Who's at fault??? Race C, following two cars a couple laps, we're all 3 pretty even. One goes into the pits end of lap 5. The other goes in the end of lap 6. I went in the end of 7. As I come out, they both pass, and we're in the same positions again, P4, 5, and me in 6th. It may be that my fresh Mediums were working, or they had both changed to Hard, because I caught them and was passing for P5 in the last corner. BUT, I was carrying to much speed on the outside, and went off. As I came back on, at the end of pit entrance, P5 decides to come into the pits again, just 2 laps from his previous stop. I was in front of him, though in the dirt, as he turned in. I looked at the video, and in his defense, he couldn't see me except in chase view. We collided, me back into the pits, and he went sideways and scrubbed his nose along the outside of pit wall. He must have been angry, as he went off track several more times during the next lap. Even with my unintentional 2nd pit stop, I caught P4, took the spot and finished in that position.

But who would be considered at fault in the incident? He saw me exit the pits the previous lap as he went by. After I went off the last turn, I couldn't see him entering, again. Just a racing thing, or clearly someones fault? Neither of us got a penalty, except for his time lost.

Someday I'll learn how to edit and upload videos.

You mean something like this? The first part.

@CapableRamblr, can't say that we can assign blame there. But, for future reference, don't go to the outside line in the final turn at Willow. As you saw from Monday night, another driver got away with it with me on his inside, but we were on fresh medium tires & going a little slower than you would normally go through there.

Yeah. Something like that. Except he fared worse than you(?) did into the wall.

@NoStopN
Yep. I watched the video some more. Most of the turns there don't favor the outside line. Seems I can just slightly see a crown in the middle of the track that slopes both ways. Inside has a very little bank to the inside. Outside, to the out. Lesson learned. Concede the position and live to fight another turn.

Oh, it has its strong points, but it is just terrible on tire wear. After some unsatisfactory first laps, I thought about pitting for mediums. But I don’t think it would have helped me win. I would have had to make it a 2 stop race. Viper can do anything the Mustang can, but better. Tire wear can be controlled to the point of it being a 1 stop race & it’s faster in traffic.

For me it´s a one-stop in the Mustang. My times get a little slower on lap 8-10 when I start on mediums, but if I pit on 11 ny times are maybe 2 tenths more than before. The hards are about 2 tenths slower, so about the same. I drive with BB 3, could that be it? Less wear on fronts, better turn-in
Who's at fault???
As you describe it here, a racing incident. But going two wide through the last turn is impossible unless you slow down so much that it´s faster to go in file, much faster.

Race A is clearly unpopular this week, but i really like it. As someone who rarely leaves race A, it's nice to have a full circut and a car over n200. With a little patience its a really nice combo imo, and i have had great racing there all week. Including this morning, even getting to race with @Mc_Yavel long time no race, nice to see you on the track. About to start, gotta go.... lol

No-stop doesn't work very well. I think all the winners I've seen, have stopped 1 time. Your right I tried 1 stopping early in the week ,doesn't work against FF cars 2 stopping .I have been using the Cayman (MR) all week getting 10 laps on RM tires with no problem .I found out last night strategies don't stay a secret very long in this game .@sturk0167 Wished I could of raced some more with you last night .(dinner)

It's been my favorite... have been surprised to have mostly clean races and that faster drivers are able to race without interference from posers. And so far the qualifying board has been consistent... doesn't seem that any people are able to post a flyer that exceeds their race pace, like last week's (originally fun) race at Autopolis in the 86s. I've gone back to it just for fun, not for DR mining, more than once, without fear that it's gonna tank my SR or DR in most cases.

Last night I did one race.
I had to teach a dirty VW a lesson.
“If you dive and floor it using my m4 with tcs to make the final turn, but I see it coming, you might be getting punted a few times and finish dead last”
Don’t mess with fr in a lightweight tin can hatch.
:)

I am working a later shift today, so I had the morning to do some racing. saw a few names from when this was my regular time slot. including the previously mentioned @Mc_Yavel We got 4 or 5, maybe more races together. Each better than the previous. the last one is the first video below. I love this game so much when it is like this.

second video is a great race from Monday. a nice three way, actually almost a foursome. it looks like I get a slight push into spoon on the last lap, but I felt nothing in the race and in fact remember thinking I was buggered as soon as I hit the brakes anyway, as I hit them late. I was falling apart under the pressure the second half of the last lap anyway. including the last left sweeper before Casio.

C race gets more competitive as the day grows longer. Just 11:00 AM EST, and that race kept me on my toes. Pretty clean from my point of view. I may have slightly knocked one guy off the edge, but he pushed me over the left curb coming down the hill which I bounced out of and made contact. No penalty, so the game didn't see it as too bad. Other than that, some good battles, which I mostly lost, but still managed P8 after starting P20.

Tomorrow or Sunday morn I'll qualify and see if I can survive the first lap mayhem from further up. I anticipate a low to mid :16 qual time.

The BB difference could be it. How does the car rotate for you? I drive the Mustang at -1. How are your lap times?

I am at low 19, high 18 in race, 17.7 qt. But that's not the car, it's me that's slow.
And the car rotates much better with + BB, but it's not certain you need that much. I am used to it from FIA racing.

Came across this fairly old track guide by accident today, may be of some interest to those enjoying Race C at Big Willow this week:

Kind of dated, and cumbersome, but shared by someone who knows the track well, and some good little bits in there, which I would like to look for in the GTS rendering of the track...

Late night Race C SR recovery mission completed after fighting my way back up from last weekend's debacle and an ill advised visit to RBR. Not going to risk a return to the chaos until after Manufacturer's tomorrow. Good news is there is still time to flip a coin between Dodge and McLaren. Have a sneaking suspicion that the next BoP adjustment will not treat the Gr.3 and Gr.4 vipers very well vs. the Gr.3 650s twitchines on hard tires.

Sadly, I have a feeling that you will be correct with this assumption.

First @RacingGrandpa, I believe I owe you an apology. I have tried both the Viper & Mustang with rear BB. Viper +1, Mustang +2. Viper is still faster in qualifying at -1, but seems to handle better & rotate nicely with those settings. Gonna try +3 & see where it gets me, then go put it to use in a race.

Edit: didn't like +3. Too much rotation. Ran a race anyway on +2. The leader was about to eaten alive & I went from 4th to trying to pass him. He puts on his brakes, sideswipes me & another car handing us both 4 second penalties. If I see him anymore, I'm going nuclear.

Edit 2: Well look who it is. That jackhole got me reset. C/E. :dunce: He's toast.

Gone back to the Ferrari after trying out the Jag, the Renault and also the Cayman. Despite setting my qualifying time in the Cayman I just don't like the gearing, and it's a bit too eager to turn in for me, especially on that final turn or heading up to the balcony. Had 3 races this morning, the first was a write off, the second I came 1st (and set FL), and the third I came 2nd with a Clean Race bonus.

Absolutely nailed the start on that final race - I began 3rd but was 1st by the pitlane lights, with the Audis ahead bogged down and searching for grip. Tried a 2 stop strategy which seemed to work, the softs for 7 laps, hards for 2 - 3 laps then back to softs for the final run. Went one stop on the first run which lost me the FL right at the end of the race, not to mention the 2 - 3 times I came off at T2. But overall an enjoyable morning all round!

Just wait until you see this revenge. You’ll die laughing.

Race C this morning was pretty good. Fair, clean and enjoyable racing.

Decided to give it a go this afternoon. Absolutely regretted it. Three races, taken out in all of them. Lost 3000 DR. But most importantly managed to remain at SR 99.

First one was a toxic Portuguese player. Either with anger issues or young and just doesn't know how to race clean.

Next two races, got stuck behind various accidents that ended with me being pushed off the road and down to last. Rarely quit mid race. But the third one. Was the point at which I realised it was time to switch to my alt or quit altogether.

On a side note. Was nice to race against someone with a GtPlanet number plate.
@bone_tone. Awesome livery.

Great to meet you online too! :gtplanet:

Don't know what was up with that Portuguese guy - deliberately rammed me straight off track 3 times. As you know, I was being very respectful to faster drivers, so he didn't need to ram me. I don't know either how he kept making up the time lost with all the 4 second penalties to keep catching me up again? He could have won the race if he'd driven clean.....

I didn't see what happened to you in the next race, but I managed a top 10 finish - passed two TTs struggling with their tyres on the last lap, including one right on the line.

Very quick driver, he/she started in P3, I was P4. With the starting position and the speed that he showed, could definitely have won it. Just seemed to snap and decide to take people out. Will share the video from his perspective.

The next race the two cars ahead of me collided and I got pushed in to the desert. Ended up P.18 doing my utmost to simply finish within the time.

The race after that. I got punted and ended up accidentally taking out a British driver. Gave back the position and just quit.

Switched to one of my other accounts. Also A/S. So maybe I'll see you out there again.

After 5 attempts at Big Willow this morning, I am back down to DR C :(. I managed one 9th place, but the others were 15th, 16th, 17, and a disconnect. No complaints about other drivers, I was just either too slow, or made my own mistakes. I still managed to keep by SR 99 though.

Over the last few weeks of no FIA races, I have attempted more daily races. I really struggled at Suzuka, Spa, and now Willow. In the FIA races, I had been able to consistently compete for Top 10's and the occasional Top 5, but the dailies have been much tougher competition for me. I'm typically qualifying near the back, and then not making up any ground in the race.

I guess that's one benefit of the DR ratings. Upper DR C is probably where I should be right now. I just need to get better, haha!

I'm glad there is a long FIA race tonight with a lot of pit stops. That seems to suit me better .
