So this is what I am talking about.
Pretty much nothing new but still frustrating.
Bad day for me in Sport Mode I guess.

Yeah, it makes a mockery of the idea of penalties when often the innocent party is penalized. Got one the other day, got dirty tires from running off and 2 battlers coming through full speed so u go slow and way on the outside as I have 0pct chance of defending. 1 gets a wiggle and drifts to tap my front bumper but keeps driving away. 2 sec to me. Just have to remember the good races.

Good post, and I agree. I want to add that, though some don't get it, racing from the back really helps your racecraft. You learn to be patient, and you also learn how little late braking really gains you. I'm still amazed when I get behind someone who is not that much slower than me, and I brake really early to set my corner speed, go through the corner with little to no tire squeal, and drive out with 5mph on the guy I just followed through the corner

I never thought about how it absolutely does show you in real time the importance of exit speed over entry speed, and how much more important it is to get a racecar balanced over just slamming the brakes super late. From the back you really see people who don’t understand HOW to make laptimes.
I just had to build on your great thought, there.
I know @Pigems is pretty analytical looking at a track and knowing which corners are most important too. I think at one point he even drew some up if I remember right....
Racing is awesome because you have to prioritize in real time where to be fast in real time with a constantly changing track. It’s like a living thing all of us drivers in these cars are just parts of the track, really. (Thank you Ross Bentley)
Another thing you see often is people bumper to bumper then the guy in front messes up a touch and the guy behind COULDA passed if he had in his mind prioritized right...Backing off a touch sometimes is necessary to get that run...
Just enjoying the discussion here trying to build on some great ideas :)
Edit the priority goes work on exit speed first that’s priority one imo, then entry speed later.
That’s really it, understanding HOW to make laptimes.
Maybe @Pigems will chime in too...

In real life races not always consequences are the same for everyone, you can't risk thinking that all the drivers involved in a collision will have the same damage or the same penalties...
I mean that one driver ahead was hitting everyone one around him and didn't get a penalty.
The guy that punted me to gain my place also didn't get a penalty.
Whatever it is, is screwy.

I'm just going to go ahead and ignore this advice. I love a good outside attempt. Make 'em brave on the brakes, undercut when they overshoot. Sometimes the presence of a car close by can make a driver bottle. Good enough for me with my ass qualifying pace. I'm with you all the rest of the way, though.
Pretty much.
There are times your car is a tad slower but you are better in turns. I've done it many times in Eau Rouge, also in the bus stop.
You just get learn how to overtake.
You can't rely on overtaking during straights only because people will try to defend their lead.
This is why you need full on damage so whatever you mess up is on you.

10/10
I've spent at least 30-40 hours on it, and only got gold on 7 of the 10 tracks. There's no chance I'll even get 1 diamond (Beating LH).
I'm an average driver.
I would say it takes A+ skill to master it. They made the target times too difficult, imo.
I think we are pretty similar in speed and skill, based on the K' info and having shared some Dailies with you on the Alts... and I agree 100% with your assessment. I am struggling to get to golds and don't expect to ever get them all. Bummer as I really would love the 20 million and increased cap.

It's frustrating that they would charge 7 or 8 bucks for a prize that maybe 3-4% of players can attain.
They won't get me with that twice.

Ooh, so close to breaking 19 mins - 19:00:330 in race C
Started 2nd, so I think I have a little bit more pace, but not much. I seem to be faster with the VW than the Audi, but maybe that's just me.

2 targets for the week then, 3:40.*** in quali, and under 19 mins in the race.

The way I break down a track, which I think I learned from the RB book, is as follows. Number all corners, then from there, find the fastest corner that leads to the longest straight. That is the most important corner on the track, it’s where the most time can be gained/lost. Once you have found that corner, rinse and repeat until there are no corners left. Then you have a detailed list of the most important to least important corners on the track. When there is consecutive corners, sometimes it’s best to give up a bit on entry, to ensure a better exit line out of the second corner as well, the answer will lie in how long the straight after those corners is. In most cases Exit > Entry, but there are exceptions to every rule. My general rule for apex’s, is the longer the straight is after, the later the apex I wanna take. :)

well dang. On a scale of 1-10 how hard would you say it is to diamond everything? I'm not very familiar with this DLC. Is the diamond you literally beating Lewis' time? if so thats pretty impossible atleast for me lol
Diamond is beating LH's time. Now, going off of memory...

Seaside: 5/10
Lago Maggiore: 4/10
Brands Hatch: 9/10
Big Willow: 15/10 (not a typo)
Suzuka: 8/10
Monza: 2/10
Mount Panorama: 7/10
Interlagos: 3/10
Nurburgring GP: 8/10
Nordschelife: 6/10 if you can control the Sauber and know the track well. 10/10 if you can't do either or both.

There are some people who cant accept being passed. I have an incident below. The driver here was responsible for the destruction of my SR that I spent last night working to repair. In this clip I pulled the same brake early, turn in correct and launch out the turn to pass. However they didn't like it. They had been all over and I thought if I got ahead I could.just leave them. However they decided to simply go full :dunce:.

They also punted me end of lap 4. They apologized after the race when I promised to destroy them if I got near them again. They claim this is an accident but it looks pretty damn deliberate. They also claim I was swerving all over the place and not keeping a smooth line in the braking zone.

I do accept their apology for the second punt as they had dirty tires from getting rubbed off by a driver ahead and they were trying to revenge punt the other driver. So while I haven't posted footage of that one it counts as why revenge punts sometimes suck.

This guy is a serial offender. He is one of the names I’m always hyper aware of when they appear in my race. He belongs to a class of drivers I’d describe as willfully careless rather than malicious. He seems to have little to no awareness of other driver’s positions and just throws his car wherever he thinks he can get an advantage.

In general a tactic I used to get out of the lower lobbies was to let guys like this past as easily as possible and NEVER fight them because you ALWAYS catch them later in the race.

Once you get to higher lobbies (like the ones this guy is in now) you can use his own stupidity against him.

I mean that one driver ahead was hitting everyone one around him and didn't get a penalty.
The guy that punted me to gain my place also didn't get a penalty.
Whatever it is, is screwy.

If you try to be like him you will see that it doesn't compensate in profit, it can take profit one times, two times or (with a lot of luck) even three in a row but at the end he will be stucked in low rankings.

The way to progress and to scape from people like him is being clean and improving real driving skills.

I don't get it. So many people say that, and it was one of my easiest. Yet, on several other tracks, I'm woefully inadequate.
How does that work? I really don't understand myself as a driver. :indiff:

I think that his is refering to the diamond in Willow, that I agree with him for the 15/10 to get the diamond.

All I can say is:

Simply stating it as the track is now, obviously made for the one direction with the reverse as an afterthought.
But it works ok as is

That's the problem with PD, too much afterthought, not enough thought

St Croix looks rushed when you compare it to Dragon Trail or Maggiore, theres barriers that just jut out everywhere that tskes the sheen off whats actually a fairly decent layout (C ii)

I don’t get it. What’s the point of even retaliating? If you get hit, you get hit. Simple as that. Why would you even go out of your way to ram someone because they hit you? I’ve been taken out of the race and dropped to dead last multiple times, but the only time I ever ram anyone is during warmup.
Edit-replying to @Groundfish

You can do something for love, you can do something for money, but nothing, feels quite as satisfying, as doing something out of pure spite. :D

Revenge punts are satisfying.

Yes. Yes they are. The time penalty is worth watching them quit.

I can't agree with you here. Anyone who gets top 100 times in the region...ever, is not an average driver.

*checks 3 profiles* Yeah, I've got a ton of times in the top 1000. Got a best of #266 in my region. At Big Willow, of course. :sly:

 I might state in my will that this phrase be engraved on my headstone.

I am like this as well, but only for getting gold there. It took a while, but I was never really far off and was close to diamond on 1 lap before binning it on the start of the last section. As for Nurb GP I am not even within sight of Gold.

@D_Dragline I watched that guy all over the track like a drunk, but was staying hard left thinking to let them have the inside. Still got caught out. Have never had trouble with them before so will keep a watch out now. Much happier bailing on the FF to go back to my FR babies.

Yeah, he's often all over the place. You were in a very vulnerable position there as well. He likes to "lean" on you in turns so I usually give him the outside when he's drafted me and he inevitably bins it because he forgets to adjust his braking point. He also gets DR reset about once a month so you'll go a week without seeing him at some stage soon.

I'm currently running the TT and the Viper about 50/50 at St Croix. The Viper is a more enjoyable drive but boy the TT is quick.

Been trying to chip away at my QT for race C. Something about this track & my driving style don't get along. Tried all of my old stalwarts (Viper, Corvette, even Mustang & WRX). Nothing cuts serious time out of those top split times. Best lap I've set so far is a 47.286. :boggled: And that was in the survey Supra. I only have that car on one account.
