Man I have NO race pace at spa, qualified with a low 2.06 and I am doing my first hot lap on hards at like 2.11. Not 100% sure my usual plan of "start on hards then hot lap in open air on mediums" is working here, in all three races I was punted off at T1 so as loathe as I am to waste the grip squabbling, I am just getting eaten alive early.

Speaking of punts, man I have done NOTHING wrong for three races and I seem to cop penalty after penalty. I don't understand how guys and muscle past me, touching me at least 2 times, then i get 4 seconds? Like what the heck?
if I start up front (1-4) I start on mediums. anything past that I start on hard and I dnt fight at all for spots just let em go and I cath them later on in race my qualy time is 2.04.9XX

all I did was start watching the replays in the top split lobbies to see how these guys were beating me off the line. I used to just mash the brake and the throttle, with mixed results. Sometimes you'll get a good jump, but every once in awhile you hit that limiter at the right (wrong) time and get left in the dust.
i do everything except the hand brake. dont hit the rev limit just hold a steady rpm trac on 2 never occurred to me to use hand brake and not brake pedal cant wait to try

If I race at Spa, it will be no qual starting meds. My strategy is almost always start on the stickier rubber. The cars heavy early. I try to mitigate time loss early, also not place myself at as much risk. It may not always be best but that’s my choice.
Oftentimes I’ve found starting on harder compound people on the faster tire will dive and punt too much trying to get by.
Anyways I just doubt I will race Spa gr2.
Race A is the more fun contest imo. Gr2, I like it but it gets very chaotic at times.

@KosmoKazi with your new brake setup it’s worth it to experiment with abs weak and nice smooth input on some cars, tracks.
If you get to where you don’t bang off downshifts quick, leave the car in higher gear longer and get no abs engagement or tire squeal just listen for gear whine and that’s it.
On some cars it’s very much better, not all, but some it gives better control.
Just don’t stomp it hard, get into it smoothly then go more full.
Also coming off Uber smooth will let you corner faster...

My usual strategy is start on hards for all race C with mediums an option. I find the first lap or two you lose a lot of time hustling for position so I waste the medium tyre grip. Then I pit in clean air (ideally) and crank out fast laps on mediums and undercut guys on old hards. But at Spa I am being murdered the first lap, sometimes drop to 10th.

I've only attempted Willow so far. 4 tries. 2 clean. 2 messy. 5 laps is nice.

Back to SR99 (after being bumped once on Tsukuba/down to SR 76). Also seeing familiar names again on Race A which is nice.

A bit scared to do C. Will probably do a few custom races to get used to Gr.2 traffic in order to avoid all contact due to the unpredictable SR and pens.

Current Strategies for Spa:

1. Start on mediums. Get slammed on T1 and recover to DFL. Spend Laps 5 laps stuck in traffic, Make up a few positions but destroy tires and pit early to hards. Re-enter into previously passed traffic and get bumped going up Eau Rouge for a penalty. Get punted at the bus stop and either rage quit or finish DFL

2. Start on hards. Get slammed on T1 and recover to DFL. Spend 6 laps futilely trying to catch back up to everyone on mediums but pass a few people who bin it on old tires. Switch to mediums around lap 6 and get stuck in mid-pack traffic now on hards. Couple of penalties for trying to legitimately pass and get punted at the bus stop. Either rage quit or finish DFL

Penalty system definitely needs an adjustment... every tap from the person behind you gets you an SR down.
Yep.
I did Race 3 yesterday.
Just at the beginning of the race, got tapped from guy behind, and I got SR down.
I mean, what the hell!
It's the very beginning, not a lot of room to maneuver, but I still get the SR down for some other guy's lack of patience.

Also, I don't get the tire wear system on this game.
On previous GT games, soft tires meant that you got traction very early but lost it also fast. Good for getting good laps and an early lead.
Hard tires meant, a slower time to warm up but also you lasted more time.

In GTSport, hard and soft tires take the same amount of time to warm and they last the same time too.

Haha! I tried both methods last night, and while a lot of this is true, it ended up better than this and the races were pretty fun (other than lap 1 ). My experiences:

1. Start Q8 on mediums. Bumpers cars in a few different places on lap 1 and a 4-second penalty that was served on lap 2. Was in about 12th or 13th after that. Pit after 6 laps for hards and recovered to finish 8th (one spot behind @ILLEAGLE_34). No problems in the bus stop all race.

2. Start Q9 on hards. Bumpers cars on lap 1, but somehow avoided a penalty, and was in 11th or 12th this time. Pit after lap 4 for mediums and ended up finishing 7th. Again no bus stop problems. Pushing my luck, next race will likely be bus top carnage :).

I find I gain so many places before T1, but the higher my DR goes the worse the racing gets.

I do enjoy taking the Lexus out and pressuring Nissans round the last twists from Pouhon onwards, those GTR's do not like corners, especially on part worn tyres. The grubby outside of Campus claims another victim! The deceptively open Stavelot curb gives way to the quicksand green... So many corners at Spa tease you to take them faster but punish you hard if you are too greedy. I am beginning to see the Nissans raw power give way to the finesse of the Lexus drivers as we approach midweek.

Like this? I am happy with my drive here, not perfect but I was patient when needed.

Hi guys, I know its been posted here milion times, but I cant find it... @Sven Jurgens posted about matchmaking system, dependent on Sr and Dr... Link please?

It's probably buried somewhere. What exactly do you want to know?
In a nutshell, matchmaking selects on SR first, then DR. Qualifying time is only used to sort the room.

The algorithm goes like this:

Select all entries with 90 to 99 SR
Sort on DR, create rooms for highest to lowest DR
Last room (with lowest DR) likely has spots left open

Select all entries with 80 to 89 SR
Sort on DR, use highest DR to fill up the leftover spots from the previous SR selection
Create more rooms in this SR range, last room (with lowest DR) will be filled again with the highest DR in the next lower SR bracket.

Etc.

The obvious problem is that 90-99 DR.D players get to race against 80-89 SR DR.A+ players. A simple change would fix it. Fill up the last room (with lowest DR) of the higher SR bracket with the lowest DR players in the current (lower) SR bracket. And no more reward (easier rooms) for lowering SR.

I haven't raced in a while, too much fun flying instead

Maybe one day the two games can be linked and I can follow multiplayer races from the air

Spa GR.2 sounds interesting, but it doesn't look like the penalties nor online etiquette has improved yet. My opponent atm is the weather

That's the alps yesterday. No visual of the Pyrenees today, big thunderstorms throwing my plane around.

Thank You very much:)

If you go with the 2008 Model GTR for the Spa race you'll gain several positions at the start for sure, since most people seem to be choosing the newer cars, which suck at grid starts. I bet it's just as quick in race pace too....at least that's what I heard from a certain alien.

May be worth a shot, I raced one last night in the video above and from row 3 he passed us all  but race pace was poorish.

5150 time at Suzuka.

Just running some qualy laps for daily race B in the TT. This is one the very first liveries I made when I bought GT Sport over 2 years ago, and it's still my go-to whenever I use this car.

Rock in peace, Eddie. Thanks for the tunes.

Well, here we go.
For Famine's sake, I won't fully express my thoughts with text.
This is what makes my blood boil, and sends me into vigilante mode.
At the start of the clip, I think most of you will know what's about to happen. For the record, I started last and this idiot started first.

No penalty for him? Hey, PD programmers, go work at 7-11. You are incompetent. It's unbelievable that someone can get a win when they do that, but I get a penalty for a slight bumper tap.

This one got a penalty for hitting me, even though I didn't go off track. Again, PD programmers, go find some janitorial jobs. Your ineptitude is hurting your company. Figure out how to be consistent.
Anyhow, he slowed down so he can hit me for getting in his way, I guess.

Of course, I sent post-race threats to both of them, encouraging them to pray that they never see me again. :mischievous:
Punt on sight.

Yeah, Ray would have went full on Lt.Einhorn after those! 🤬

Makes me wish for a big Dodge/Ram truck in this game. I love Van Halen & got really into Humans Being.

Punt on sight.

Let me get my pen & paper out. Those kids had better be in bed before I get on track.

Yeah, Ray would have went full on Lt.Einhorn after those! 🤬

They found Captain Winky!!!

Here's what happened the next time I saw the guy from the first clip:

Damn! I was literally 2 seconds away from sending him the wink ;-)
Folks, threats freak people out.
Don't be afraid to use them. It works like a charm.
Usually they either don't show up at the next race, or crash themselves whenever I get close. :)

Good god the old school Lexus on race c!! Takes off like its im another class......wait.....

I was on pole and gapped the field 1.5 seconds by end of Kimmel. They never saw me again as the squabbled but my fastest lap was only 2 tenths off. She is very twitchy as the tyres wear though, end of stint an issue.

Edit: Yeah nah just got in a dog fight, she's too twitcy on the rears for door to door Nascar racing.
