I have a problem, OK my driving but apart from that, Wanted to set up a custom race to see how well certain cars do for the Nurburgring 24H next week and it won't let me set tyre wear above 3X. Now I could do it in the lobby, but I wanted to earn some cash while testing. Have I done something wrong or just missed something stupid?

Aside from the game being stupid and not letting you set large tyre multipliers in custom races, no. It's usually 10x max, but on longer tracks they cut it down. It's also worth remembering you'll need to tune whichever car you use to its relevant BOP to get a proper view of how it drives.

In other news: I've just seen a top split (80k DR) driver start from the back at Dragon Trail to try and repair SR. He got a 5 second penalty for putting an Audi into the wall through the esses on lap 3. It's genuinely one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

I thought BOP was BOP and as long as you activated it that was it? Don't tell me BOP changes!!!

The BOP doesn't change, but it only gets applied automatically in lobbies/sport mode. If you do a custom race you'll have to change the power/weight of your car yourself.

Hahahah man I'm in SR hell myself after the Tokyo and BMB races. I just can't get out. Had a streak of 4 clean race bonuses in a row because I'm normally an A rated driver and I'm just running away with every race. Still can't get back to S, something inevitably happens, it's just not fun at all. I think I raced you earlier today. I was 2nd and got punted on T1 and then punted again T4 into oblivion. You get SR down for guys driving into you to boot, I don't think I'll ever be SR S again without tanking my DR. What wild is that I've been an SR S for nearly my entire GTS career and one week I get reset and stuck with poor drivers.

I feel your pain like 1,000 suns on my skin.

For me the stages of SR DR go something like this:

STage 15. Dr D sr E WAR ZONE!

Right now for me, it's like looking at the shopping mall directory. The game shows: You are here.

By "repairing SR", I hope that means trying to go from A to S, something like that. Nobody could be lower with 80K DR. But, the incident you described sounds like something I saw yesterday.....a lot.

No once you enter the race go to "car settings" and select BOP.
...

I've been doing custom races to prepare for FIAs for two years and I had no idea this option was there

Low S, 85 or so. He's doing better but seems to have lost 3k DR in the process: V1_Miro | Stats | Gran Turismo Sport | kudosprime.com

Yeah things are easy to miss, that's why I asked about the tyres I was hoping I'd missed something stupid and not something PD had done. I only realised this by accident, went in to change the power and thought why can't I just activate BOP so tried it.

I’m gonna run a b race or two in the Stang.
Ran two last night, good results.
It turns in sooo much better on abs default than weak in these heavy brake zones.
I use weak in the street cars like the Porsche 993 or the BMW M3 89 but in Gr 4 and higher I use default. Me modulating the trigger on my DS4 can't keep up in those classes.
But in the lower it's so much better for me.

Hmmm. I took a weird 3 second penalty in the final turn on Seaside lap 1. Weird. I’ve never seen that before. A Viper was inside me side by side under braking and angled towards me causing a slight side rub. BOOM I get 3 seconds minus sr. Interesting. Purposeful move or just glitch?
Very very sloppy racing in B race. I just remembered it’s FIA today so I’m out things get weird on days like this. I’m down to 92sr better off waiting for FIA before dealing with B race rn. On the plus side I picked up like 800 dr for finishing fifth.

Edit polesitter was top twenty on NA. A player from South America shoved past in turn 3...Piss poor at the front...the guy who did it finished like 14th.

This is too true lol! Really hits home. It's just that a lot of people in the lower SR lobbies have such poor awareness and/or track knowledge. For example you have guys going into the death chicane side by side and the guy on the outside doesn't back out even though it's certain death for himself and probably the guy next to him 90% of the time. In this situation, it goes like this (Speaking from experience) guy on outside turns in, bumps driver on inside, blasts himself into the wall 180 - 0kph. Driver on inside *SR Down* *4.0 Sec Penalty "Forced another car off track"* -20 SR points post race. It's usually things like that, getting brake checked in a zone where more experienced drivers wouldn't brake, even small random contact sometimes will give you an SR down.

Too true and it happens in SR.S at CoD! I was on the inside with a quarter car length lead. The outside will back off, right!? No. We both go in... I think... "Ok, we can both make this. I will give a little space, he will back off..." No! I give space, he leans in, I hit the right wall on CoD exit - reset and lose multiple places.

Next time, I will risk the 4.0s pen. I am tired of being the nice guy. Little Guppy is going to grow some elbows.

You can find lap records for each track combo. This link https://gtsport.r1s3.net/laprecords/13/12 represents Gr 4/Nurburgring 24h. I do not know if BoP was applied to these cars but this data is as July 1st 2020, after the last BoP update.

There is a mix of FR and FF cars in the top 20 which suggest there will be mix in the race too. That is a healthy sign for good racing.

The tire wear on the fronts will be the pain point for the FF cars. Best to set BB to +5 to mitigate.

Edit: In FF cars I set TCS=0. I am going to try TCS=1 or 2 to further mitigate tire wear. It is an added benefit to TCS that I have overlooked in the past. @Groundfish has pointed out that benefit a few times.

Even though it's the other layout this is also an upcoming manu race. So it might be worth a practice race or two.
Exactly that. The Cayman has the highest top speed of all the Gr,4, due to its gearing. However, it takes a while to get there. Same for the Supra. It doesn't have the initial grunt, but its high top end of 280km/h makes it a contender on the final straight.
Viper, C7, RC F, RCZ, Scirocco, TT, Veyron, GT-R, F-TYpe, Vantage, Megane, can reach terminal speeds pretty quickly. 458 and Huracan are about even with the 458 having an edge with better tyre wear.

It'll be an interesting last few races of the FIA and these two weeks of Wacky ...umm, Daily races. ;)

Edit: Just created a public room "N@$ Daily RAce Practice Only". Probably for a bout an hour to try a few FR cars.

Had a decent week on B until today.

Fun while it lasted. And to be honest, cleaner than expected all week. But hard for me to even get a clean lap in today. Got bombed, pushed, taken out then penalized for it and after the race got blamed for it too. What fun.

I was on the other side of one of these penalties. I went into the final turn on the inside and the guy outside turned into me. No damage to either of us, but a 4 sec penalty to him. Seemed very tough.

What happened to the Christmas cheer? I guess everyone getting in their bad hits, to make way for New Year's resolutions: "I swear to never divebomb or punt or divebomb & punt, anyone in front of me, next year.".

No my NYR is to always retaliate especially if it might not have been their fault.

I had a new one today. Race B and I’m approaching the first chicane with a TT close behind. I stay on the racing line and prepare for the late braking dive up the inside. Instead I get an initial bump from behind as he stays on the line, which pushes me deeper than normal, but I think “no worries, different braking points. That’s unintentional.” As we come out of the chicane the TT Jinks hard right and hits my left rear. “Must have lost it on the kerb.”

Coming to the final turn he taps me a couple of times and then accelerates and turns into me just as I brake, spinning me around. “That’s definitely intentional!”

After the race I call him out and I get the following reply. “You blocked my overtake”. Given the only times he was near me were the two above mentioned incidents, utterly mystifying.

Is it just me or do people drive worse at SR A-S than at D? Just did a C, well actually for once I quit, and was shoved and punted by several S rated drivers, yet when I'm in lower rated lobbies I generally only have to contend with 1 or very occasionally 2 really bad drivers. Don't get me wrong I recon having a perfectly clean race is more likely at S, but unfortunately it's also where the absolute worse behaviour happens too.
Now it could be that lower drivers are being nice because they want to repair their SR while those at the top lose it easier because they see their rating drop because of one or two stupid mistakes so just drive like nothing matters.

Well, in this one, the Jag that spins out, divebombs the TT behind me. The TT bounces into me and I go into the kitty litter.

Last one for the night. Taking no shorts.

So I have seen this common statement in many posts and have wondered something . . . do people really drive worse in the higher/lower lobbies OR is it that the "bla bla" driver(s) just don't measure up to the lobby standards?

If we have a reset A/B/C driver in a D lobby isn't the lobby not up to their standard? If we have a reset C/D driver in a B/A lobby isn't the lobby beyond their standard? Let me clarify what I am trying to say . . . if a reset A driver is dropped into a C/D of course the driving is crap because most of the lobby is not up to their standard - remember they are C/D because they are not ready or good enough to be B/A. The same can be said for a C/D driver getting the chance to race in a mixed A/B lobby - they are racing with racers who are not at they level.

Of Note: I used to believe the concept racers are worst at higher levels but after watching many hours of replays and seeing how I am driving around the more qualified drivers I have determined I got punted, bumped, and bumped others because I was not up to the standard of the lobby. Most of the time it seems I braked incorrectly, couldn't maintain my turn in a curve, or just lost situational awareness and turned into the guy making a legitimate racing pass.

So, do people really drive worse at SR A-S than at D or . . . ?

Add him to the "punt on sight" list. Then just tell him that he blocked your overtake. He can't be taken seriously if he claims your reason is BS.

I believe so. Drivers must be desperate to be a certain ranking. Further proof that younger drivers are the majority in GTS & feel like they have to be the highest ranking among their friends. I just want to continue a steady climb in points & rank. But, it's quite difficult when Junior in the Scirocco barrels into my Corvette on L1T1, gets his penalty, & then bails out.
