@Groundfish That second race with you was awesome! I couldn’t quite get past that Ford GT in 3rd. Twice I had a good run coming into Forrest’s Elbow and both times they went wide, but shut the door before I could get my nose up the inside.

The last time put me in your sights. A drag race to the finish line was one of the more exciting moments I’ve had in a race. Well done and thanks for the fun.

Tough thing for me is if I had gotten that podium it would have put me into A+ (49,873 post race DR) It’s a video game, though, and you can’t get to the next level without winning the boss fight.

Racing with you was great fun!
That guy driving the GT was hard to beat. Next race he got me by about a second. I have no idea how he gets that car through the Dipper!
Pretty much this whole afternoon was mental! Lots of guys streaming etc. That race we had was the best one though.
That was epic when I followed your slipstream while you made the Beetle twitch guy look silly.
First he gets done up by a Chevy, then a Ford in under half a lap lmao!

Saw you on Z28s stream, don't worry nothing incriminating!

After Max's video, I've got to go back to the mountain for more "qualifying".

The combos this week don't play to my strengths. I knew it going into the week, but gave them a try anyway. My DR has dropped a little, but thankfully no reset. As for your home setup, I also use the big screen in the living room. Personally, I don't have a disconnected feeling when racing. Maybe next week's combos will be more inspiring.

I just think its harder to get immersed when there's some distance to the display especially for sim games when detail coming up fast is important, like picking out brake points on the side of the track. I'm almost forced to used cones because there's no way I'm picking out the edge of a "V" on the a billboard off in the distance.

That is a silly strategy. 7 stops would leave enough time for a cheeky donut at the end.

I have so much to learn!

Was in this race and was wondering how many times I saw you pit, did not realize it was every lap lol

I had the pace and chat was egging me on, so I pretty much had to, haha.

Say what now? 8 stops?! With that pit entrance that's just a recipe for insanity. Amazed you can make that work, but unsure why you'd want to torment yourself like that.

All for the content baby!

This mornings races have been going really well, climbed back outta C with a few bruises but holding my B badge once again.

Switched from the AMG to the Mustang after seeing a few people comment on how stable it was and WOW. Dropped my quali lap from 2.03.9 to 2.03.0 within 10/15 minutes.

I feel confident absolutely blasting this over the top, don't need to worry about catching a spin too much. Would recommend giving it a whirl if you haven't yet.

I was too till I spun at Skyline (2nd time there, no idea why as most of the time not even a wobble even touching the grass) got stuck in with slow and dirty players who mucked my SR up again. One good clean race and I'm back to B, but the SR situation is a bit worrying.

Yeah it's super easy to commit a bit too much and understeer/drop a tyre and spin through there. I'd rather let off and play it a bit more cautious than grinding around a curb.

You can pull SR back pretty easy atm I think, if you've gotta think about the move then it's not worth doing

Might have to try this! Been using the AMG only for this event and loving it, even have a 2:02:8XX qually with it, but definitely suffers from instability through the dipper and the cutting....

Yeah man I'd recommend giving it a shot! Just picked up my first win in it from 9th on the grid. When the tyres go, they absolutely go but I've been doing a 4-1-4 and it's been working well.

Just had a really terrible race, I'm blaming Basic Ollie, what's he doing at C/C? Need to check the replay as someone called me out, but I think several were trying to get on his stream and driving like morons. He went off and quit, so I need to see that too, he was a little in front of me and lost it at last corner, no one looked close so need to check that, but got to go make doughnuts so laters.

Bathurst has been good to me this week. I will finish the week with a 2:00.8 qualifying time (not great/not terrible) but more satisfying is that I have recovered to A/S after a reset at Laguna Seca a week ago. My race pace has been good in each of the Vantage, Corvette, Mustang and DBR9. In my last couple of races I have almost matched it with some A+ drivers (finishing within 6 seconds both times).

Suzuka next week will be a test for me but at least I feel like I belong at DR A for now.

Used the WRX in a Race B. Eh, it's okay. Jumped in the Genesis. Bang! Second gear corner exit acceleration is phenomenal. Just pulled away from the GT-R and WRX behind me. These were players in the high 55 low-mid 56 range.

Genesis has super tight cornering. The final turn, Genesis has high cornering speed. Really impressed. Mustang has higher top end though. I think it's more the V8 torque over the Genesis V6.

Had an RCZ in the race versus a 458 and WRX. Surprised the RCZ hung in there.

Our driving styles might play a hand in that as well. I know some people say they race in cockpit view while I always go chase cam. It allows me to see the car's full position on track in relation to the track markers. I use cones too & sometimes you have to memorize where those cones are on lap 1 because they won't be there on lap 2.

Well, I guess I won't feel the need to watch any more of his videos. He just showed up in my recommended videos feed after watching some of the other British YouTubers' videos. Between Ollie's C/C racing (alt account maybe?) & Kie's rage quit/delete, I don't feel so bad for my own driving. Hell, I keep going, DR drop or rise.

Did anyone watch the videos we were supposed to watch before going online? Because no one seems to understand that blocking is wrong, not just they don't care and think that winning at any cost is OK, they really don't have a clue that it's wrong.

BTW Ollie's C/C is on his main account and the way he drove he won't be getting out quickly. He got upset I think when he lost it trying to pit and after that seemed to be trying to hit ever wall. I'll put it on the server later and maybe put it under idiot of the week.

It's not that important. I'll take your word for it. And no, people play the video about sportsmanship & let it run while they go to the restroom.

Ive got Ollie on my friends list and he's S/S, you sure it wasn't just a fan with a similar name/livery?

Might not be Basic Ollie. Last I checked he was still S/S.

Maybe a case of mistaken identity?

EDIT: @GOTMAXPOWER sorry didn't see your response. Could be his alt like you said.

i know what you mean. What I have found is that for the first sector, there are about 3 slightly different lines you can take to get a sub15 sector time. I find that really interesting because there should really be an ideal line but throttle control and hitting any of 3 paths perfectly all seem to get me to the same sector time when I do well. For me it is something like a 14.990 or whatever. Combine that with nailing the only turn on the track, and bingo.. I have chipped down to mid 46s . I may mess around Sunday just for the fun of it and see if I can get to 46.200 or something with a sub 15 1st sector and a perfect entry/exit on the turn.
I made a clip for you. Try it like this.
Use the feather flags at the bottom of the turn for reference. Try to apex the turn about where the last flag is, and be off of the throttle by then.
Be at zero throttle for a split second, then jam it down into 3rd and hammer the gas. The car should be able to hold the bottom of the track. No throttle control needed.
You don't need to be all the way on the curb, like I was. Being right down at the edge is just as good.
Go get a 45.9. 👍

I'm going to miss Race C. Its been a great race, really enjoyed it. I've been running the AMG with some great results, just making a few silly mistakes to cost me time/places. Managed to throw away 5th place with two cases of over-running the braking zone in the last two laps in a race today, and a case of coming in way too hot at the pit entry messed up a whole race and cost me at least 5 places.

Been doing my races in this Bathurst livery on the AMG, seems fitting to run it in a race-rep livery.

I leveled up! A+ has been achieved!

I’d been stuck in the high B low A range for awhile, but kicked things into a new gear this past month. It may also have helped that I cut back a lot on drinking. Late night race results have certainly been better at least, but to the racing:

Starting with GR 2 at Seaside, I was minimizing wheel spin and my anticipation vastly improved to keep the car stable.

The next week at Spa with GR 1 I translated the GR 2 skills over and gained a better understanding of setting up an attack.

Then at Brands Hatch in GR 3 I mostly held station as I couldn’t figure out how to overtake on that course, but it was good practice for applying the GR 1 and 2 lessons to this category.

I came into this week at Bathurst in GR 3 with high confidence and a goal to hit A+. The Vette has been planted and fast for me all week. My optimal QT was under 2 minutes, but I never hooked up that lap. My times did improve over the week to keep me near the sharp end.

I dabbled with an alt account for a month, but it wasn’t for me. This is the account I’ve played on since launch. I struggled and eventually quit playing for awhile. I returned with a T300rs in May of last year and steadily improved (I’ll give you one guess at where that is on the graph below). I’m really proud to see how far I’ve come. I really enjoy being a part of this community and thanks to all for sharing your stories and advice.

Well had my worst race in a while if not of all time.
Was doing well and found myself behind a Jag with a penalty. I wasn't going to force anything but they broke earlier than me into Forest Elbow (and I was braking early as I was being them) and slightly tapped them. 2 seconds to me. Fair enough I thought. This put me behind the mass of fighting cars. Lap 4 I pass 2 with penalties and close in on a third. My momentum gets me alongside through the kink and he swerves into me. I keep in straight and they go deep. (He gets a 1 second for the contact), I slightly tap them trying to cut back and it puts him off further. 4 seconds to me. He takes to the grass and bombs me off in the right hander. I go wide (he gets no further penalty for that btw) I try and keep it aimed for the track but glance the wall. I end up facing the wall and loose loads of time recovering and the subsequent pit. After this I am 20 seconds behind and unable to make up any time. I then get a 1 second penalty for cutting going down the hill. WTF!? There is nowhere to cut! The car is just not performing anymore and I am understeering like hell every lap. I am now about a minute behind the guy ahead and finish the race on the Conrod in 16th. The Italian who took me out at the chase ruined my race and I just never got going or back in the groove. I sent him a message afterwards to join the other babies on Forza.

I decided to jump into race A for something more lighthearted.
Started 8th. 2 guys decided to take themselves out granting me 2 places. Then a Swede gives up. I am following a Spaniard and a Swiss guy who are having a ding dong. I get the run through the last corner on the penultimate lap. Then the Swiss guy Schumachers me into the pit wall. I therefore end up 5th which is o.k. but it would have been 3rd if not for that stupidity. (Of course there was no penalty for the Swiss guy.)

Congratulations!
I know how you must feel. When I first got to A+, it was the best sense of accomplishment I've had from this game.
Great job.

Now, switch back to your alt account.

He got a reset to D/E at the end of one of his streams. And technically his "YT" acct is an alt. (I think somebody already brought that up.) But he's going to have to work his way back up the ranks to repair his DR - and that's one of the main problems with the DR reset system. Now you have a fast high A driver blowing by D & C ranked drivers. That doesn't make for a fun race for anyone.
