Just like Dragline, I had awesome races this week. Now, I had three knuckleheads in my race. Tow Slophys and an 86. A Sloiphy takes me(in an Atenza, which was surprisingly good the whole race until...) out in the first corner. JUst brushes me off. I went from 8th to about 14th. Nex turn is mayhem for the cars ahead. I catch back up and serve the Slophy.I get 3 seconds. Towards the end of the race, I was making haste. Caught the 86 that started on RS. It actually slowed waited for me to pass and then punted me. it got 1 second, I tumble to 18/18. An early pitting Slophy is out of grip on LAp 9. I catch it into T1. I take the outside as it blocked the inside. Proceeeds to escort me off the track. I quit by accident when I pressed the pause button.

The freaks come out at night for sure.

Edit: Went on a different account and same 86 punting people. My first race all week with this account and A car ahead has a boggle. I slow up, let it recover. The punter 86 doesnt hit me, but I guess since it lost momentum, targets me for a punt. I didn't go offand it got 2 seconds. Wants to wait for me to get behind. This time, I pressed paues and it's brake check didn't work.

Might just do FIA until GT7. I'm getting too old for this iish.

Probably, it's the hardest car to pass this week if they don't drive wide/off, luckily they usually do because of the tyre wear. The F-type is also rapid so should be able to fight it. I expect a lot of these two and not much else.

Just tried the McLaren 650S in Race C though and it's great, before today I've only seen a couple driven slowly so wasn't expecting it, it could be worth a try in Race B next week.

I understand wanting to have clean races, and be respectful. Those are the most enjoyable races.
However, if someone hits your car to take your position, there's nothing wrong with doing the same to them.
Maybe even give them a second chance if you're not sure it was intentional.
I know there are lots of people who are not willing to "even the score", and this current system will never work out for them.

Really can't be bothered with dailies, the odd great game and mostly just a puntfest. Been doing campaign, it's not as good as a decent real race, but much better than a bad real race. Also learn how to cope with different cars. Hopefully they will do something about pens before I finish it.

Still on Race C and I've tried the Vantage and Vette now too, both decent cars to drive but not quick enough, need a small boost to me, lots of cars in a similar range though, the BOP has improved over time.
Also updated the GT by Citroen, a little better than these two and usable just about, feels nice too. 👍

You all (except auto drivers) need to use the 650S though, so good and way underused.

Well, letting these drivers get away with punting allows them to feel like they have skill (which they don't) & there are no consequences to their actions (which there are). When they get their face shoved into a sand trap, we like to hope that they would learn that it's tough to win if you're in DFL. Some get the hint, some you have to teach them over & over. I teach people once & then leave them behind.

848.7kms in the Gr.4 Genesis. 15 Clean Races, 3 Pole poitions9Gr.4 Genesis), 11 Fastest Laps(12 including the Gr.3 Genesis), 16 races(17 including the Gr.3 Genesis), 9 wins(10 including the Gr.3 Genesis). Good car. The penalty suystem definitely helped with the other stats, but this is a gooooood car. PLayers have avoided this thing all week. I mean, it's 13 years old (Edit: 2013 model) solid. 👍
Shame on you, Mazda. Should have given us a Gr.4 rotary coupe, with performance like this.

Last race, I finished 2nd by 0.010(Started 7th). Catching the Lead WRX. It stopped Lap 5, when I was right behind it. After my pit, I came out 2.8 seconds behind and set purple times to catch up on the back half of the circuit. Clean side by side battle, through the last turn and through the final chicane to the line.

Going to miss Autopolis. It's the equaliser.

How on earth are you getting these results in the Genesis? In the one race I did my medium tyres were ruined after 5 laps, never mind what state the softs were. Absolutely undriveable.

My next project is to relearn manual shifting again. Using auto is just laziness probably because I'm rarely driving manual irl these days.

It should be shifted at around 60% of the bar. Gives better acceleration and less fuel usage.
I relearned manual to be able to save fuel and tires in FIA and C. It was not easy relearning these old fingers to it but it was worth it.

Yes, if anything in my race I was shifting a tiny bit too late, need to watch the replay and see. If I get time I'll use it again and see if I can get it to go even quicker.

Three races, there was one 4C and noone could touch it from Pole. Everyone else in Slophys, NSX, Huracan, F-Type, etc.
I had initially qualified on RM. A 1:51.5. Got podiums and wins by consistency. The car does 1:53s-54s. After my pit. The outlaps gave me 1:50s. My FLs were 1:52.2s. Lap 8&9 are 1:53s and Lap 10 is 1:54.

I qualified the Genesis on the RS and laid a 1:49.4. Tried the 4C(could only get a 1:50.4 with little time trying it) and I see how much corner speed it has. No wonder. Haven't tried the Slophy, but I already seen in my races, it doesn't have the pace. Genesis braking and my high corner entry speed, plus the 2nd gear acceleration, nullify the Slophy's downforce.

Here's another one. That first race in the Atenza, I had good pace. Didn't notice my times because of the stupidness done to me.
After my rant, I went back in on SpacedustDaddy. Down to A/A. Ran the Atenza again. 6RM/4RS. Had a Slophy behind and a 4C. The 4C botched T1 exit.
I kept pace to see what the Renault had. To that player's credit, they didn't force anything. I could see it had higher exit speed. I let it go on the final corner before the final chicane, end of Lap 3.
It gapped me by 2.8 seconds at my pit stop Lap 6.

Pit exit, I was 22 seconds behind. Mistake by the leader was, he/she ran to Lap 8. I dropped the time to 16.5 seconds. They came out 5.5 seconds behind and I won by over 10 seconds.

I really wanted to see how I would have done in that first Atenza race. There were about half the field of Renaults.

My opinion on punters is let them go. Let them raise DR. And when they inevitably have to push harder to keep up, they will fall back to where they belong.

Long term, learning to race the right way makes you a better racer everywhere. Taking shortcuts only makes you rely on shortcuts.

Another factor to consider, for every time you have been taken out by a punter. A punter has taken someone in front or behind you out to your advantage.

I don't care if other cars take each other out. Do whatever you think is right. But I don't believe you gain anything from it looking at long term, big picture.

Last race yesterday I was set into the wall in the Chicane of Inconvenience, then into the wall at the bottom of the esses.
I really wanted to return the favour and actually quit for the third time in 1100+ races.
Gotta try the defensive way now.

Also, remember we are in this for fun. Of course winning is more fun, but if you have a couple of bad results due to idiots and lose a bit of DR/SR from it, you will wind up in a slightly slower room which might result in a win!
I did two races last night - the first one I qualified 11/15, a full 4 sec away from an A+ SR driver (I'm still C). Gained a couple of spots on the first couple of laps, then got forced off a couple of times and was last when I pitted a couple of terrible laps later. Got an SR down on the way out of the pits (?? - I hadn't seen another car in 2 laps and was penalty free). Finished dead last. Nearly turned the PS5 off, but went and did some circuit experience stuff, skipped a timeslot and came back to it. Second on the grid this time in room of 16! Had a really good race with some guy in a WRX up until we pitted on lap 6. I goofed and let them put some fuel in, which cost me enough time to lose the slipstream and another place. Finished a satisfying third, with every lap except the first, last and pit laps being within a second of each other (6S/4H strategy).

That's the thing, I'm in it to watch my replays. The punter ruins that, for my enjoyment.
As per my stats I shared, the run ins with the punters was low. So I have about 18 good races to watch, with about 3 or 4 I didn't/couldn't save.

I'm for clean racing, I'm an adult and know this is just a game. However, whether the punter cares or not, I'm still going to choose to serve them back, when I have the opportunity.
If I never see them again and/or if we are spread out in a race, I'm not racing to hunt them down. Only if the opportunity presents itself.

So my nemesis is back to SR S and I just drew him in a race C for the first time in a couple of weeks. I start P8 he is P16. I start on softs and run 6 laps. By the time I pit I’m p3 and the racing has been great. I exit the pits to find this flog is going 7 laps just to catch me and is about 1 second in front of me. He then slows down and spend 2 laps deliberately brake checking me and pushing me off. In the end I just quit because there is absolutely no benefit to me continuing under those circumstances.

All this leads me to ask, what the hell are you supposed to do if someone is personally targeting you and “bullying” like this? Apart from simply quitting as soon as I see his name I don’t have any idea how else to handle this without simply ruining my races and making the whole game a farce. It is seriously making me want to walk away from the game entirely.

@D_Dragline, I can commiserate. Take a little break. OK, commiseration done. I can assure you, your punter-nemesis is not losing any sleep as he does not care about you but only about his bullying victories. And now there are more bullies. Just need to find a way past this and I admit that I am struggling and it is hard to get a clean race. More on that later.

@O604, has it mostly right except the punters will rise to a new DR plateau significantly higher than before. They are here to stay.

@Barra333, the main problem is the fun is diminishing as more races have become unpredictable and not in a racing sort of way.

To some degree, you need to punch back just to let others know that you are not a pushover. The post and pre race chats are also useful to confront the aggressor... others can be more aware.

I've been out running race A mainly this week. And I know I dont expect it to be the cleanest at the best of times with this penalty system it hasn't been all that bad. I've had some real great races with some great clean drivers.

And some races where the usual morons barge their way through. One in particular who has been a thorn in my side for over a year now has been at it. And timing the dives and pushes just right to ensure you lose too much time to get it back. They also seem to have some sort of lag protection as I watched in replay a car slamming them full on in the side during the esses and they didnt even wiggle.

They also seem to be a bit racist. Shove off people from most countries in Asia with no remorse, but they then bumped a fellow countryman wide and eased off to let them have to position back. All the more reason to deal with them in the manner they have shown they like if I get the chance.

But shout out to all those clean drivers I've had battles with this week. I probably lost 3/4 of them, but they were great fun.

Autopolis/Race-C/Gr4 has been difficult. I have managed a couple of clean races on my alt (Asia) but mostly messy races on my main (Americas).

Sheeple and Wolves:
The "Sheeple" effect is interesting. The Americas "Top 10" has six WRX's and no 4C's. The Asia "Top 10" has nine 4C's. Folks are blindly following the success of the others. The Asia P10 is faster than the Americas P1. The Americas Sheeple really ought to find a new Shepherd!

The wolves, on the other hand, are running the Megane Trophy (Slophy) in the races.

My Choice:
I have managed a good QT from the Scirocco but poor race pace due to tire wear. I followed the wolves but the Slophy(8RS/2RM) could not match the Scirocco for me. I have reverted to the Scirocco with some adjustments and with light tire management a semi-competitive 5RM/5RS is manageable. Basically, go like mad on the RM and with RS use 70% braking into T1 and the mid-lap tight left chicane.

Punters:
The punters are evident. Enough spoken about them.

Penalties:
The lack of penalties has reduced the fun. One of the most interesting things is the "overtake". A classic overtake involves catching the slip on the straight and out-brake on the inside. The leader/defender can defend the inside. In that case take the outside. Racing rules require that the leader/defender provide racing room on the outside - they cannot run you wide/off-track. Sigh, that is gone. The threat of a penalty is gone. It is now so easy to defend, just park on the inside and dare the challenger to take the outside. That's not racing, its not skillful and its not fun.

Pit Entry and Pit Exit:
Definitely worth a few minutes of practice!

Fantastic. All cars started on RM. Final 12 minutes(if anyone has the time). The 4C that spun ahead of us, was extremely courteous to the Scirocco. Only passed when the opening was there. Very clean. Was gone after the pass. Unfortunate it went off on its own.



Next race, I started 2nd, but caught curb at the underpass left, on Lap 1. Tyres weren't ruined. So, was able to press on from 10/14. Then, this knucklehead.

It's simple. A is the long track. B is the middle length one and C is the short one. Hopefully that helps.

I can’t decide. Keep trying to improve my qualifying on DTS II (the capacity is there for a top 10 if sector 3 is nailed) or actually make use of the time (57th now) I’ve already set? I really can’t seem to make up my mind. The frustration...

Finally had a couple good races tonight. By good, I mean I didn't get knocked off, and got to actually race. Race C, in the 650. Car handles well, stops well. I could use some wheel time, but I was fast right off. No idea on tire wear, so I started on softs and figured to run them as long as possible. Started 13th in a fast room, ran steady, was up to 6th pre stop (L5), dropped to 14th post, and finished 11th. Had some agressive bumps from a couple wrx's late that lost me 2 spots, but I stayed on track and brought it home.
In the A race I started 5th. Avoided the usual L1,T1 craziness, and slotted into 3rd in the esses as the 2 in front of me fought for the apex, and I drove around the outside and got the line into the tight right at the end. Good drive onto the straight, and I had a full second on P4, 2 seconds behind P2. Second lap was a 1:01.02, and I was 1.8 down on P2, 3rd lap was a 1:00.9 and I was 1.4 down, 4th lap a 1:00.7 and 1.2 down, 5th lap another .9 and up to 1.3, 6th lap was a .8, and 1.1 down. Then came lap 7. Hot into T1, closing on P2, a little wide...gotta hold it, left rear over the curb, off the brakes and correct...too late and I loop it! Reset and 3 cars go by as I'm shifting to 3rd. They're fighting, I'm on 'em, one gets way wide at the end of the esses in the tight right, cuts back in front, but has a bad line into the final corner an I get under him and get the drive. Finished P5, but if not for a mistake I had 3rd, and was on the tail of 2nd and 1st with a chance. I really need to give myself a 2" buffer on T1 and the final turn. I've caught the grass on both SO many times, and it's about 90% fatal when I do.

I'm not the only person who said at the start after the penalty system was changed to predict it would cause many problems. Lots of us have seen the results of the changes over the years. Unfortunately most of the bad elements are now steadily becoming normal gameplay.

My take on the changes is that it was undertaken to try stop people leaving the game and 2 reasons behind it. Firstly the delay GT7 which they were hoping would see most migrate to the new game myself included secondly it was a combination of trying to keep players from leaving the games and the outrage online from YouTube streamers and in forums like this. PD, like any developer fears that someone else will take their portion of the market. I will probably stick with GT7 when it comes out as I have played it for so long and not that I don't like to change but I have bought other games like ACC and F1 last year and wish I could have my money back as they are way too messy to play as a casual player.

I fully respect people's choices when it comes to playing the game the way they want to and adapting to the idiots that will always been in every online game. Like many others I try to keep it clean and still have some great races. Starting races B & C from the back before qualifying is a real eye opener to the negative impact the changes have played, after I had qualified you then more often than not were in the middle of the madness trying to play fair when more around you just don't give a ****. Human reaction in to get revenge if you can after all you have been wronged and the perpetrators have driven off down the track having ruined your race. I did a lot more races yesterday that in the last week due to having some time to killing some were great fun and some you just could not wait until the checkered flag. The game has changed and so has how we all approach playing it. I play fair but now deal with the likes of the guy who punted me 3 times in race C and everyone else very differently that I did a few weeks ago.

Lastly I have noticed some heated debates on the forum over how some people retaliated on the track to extract some justice on some of these idiots. At the end of the day this is just a game, if you a streamer on YouTube or Twitch and have big audiences who donate then you have to play fair as its helping you make a living and I have respect for these guys as I have learned so much from them over time. Racing with people you know you will always race clean as you know they will too but apart from a lobby that seldom happens in the Daily races. So you are left with a random bunch of players and usually the names you recognise are because their dirty players more often that the guy you had a great clean race against. My point is that everyone is entitled to play the game as they see fit in each race and to their own opinion on here and just because you disagree this doesn't not mean either party is right or wrong, I stayed out of the "View on this Move" thread to it got too hot and heavy, have been on forums online since they first started and left many because of bullying that was going on over stupid stuff. Remember this is just my take and I know some will agreeing some not but that's makes us all different.
