I’ve run several races at Altopolis.
The first one I went M-M on tires by accident! Haha.
The last one was quite funny. 3 Brazilians took out a friend of ours in the last sector. I was on the chase, came into turn 1 and they all tried for the same apex!
Lmao! I see that the trophy’s have trouble overtaking each other and they can end up a little bumpy, but it was smooth sailing in the Mustang! This was my view after I just saw the middle car punt a fellow GTPer. I was thinking of a little hard overtake, but this happened!

Cheers. (The second photo is really the one haha what were they thinking?)
Also I made the same overtake several times turn one-force the trophy into defense, take the racing line, dont contest apex brake a little early and crossover, you don’t wanna contend t1 apex there imo. Let em defend, just lay out wide a little on entry brake early and fly by em on the straight. I love the Stang there!

Those are some impressive win stats. But are you racing clean and fair? Strange you would be at the level you're at with so many wins to your name.

Don't misunderstand me though. One thing I enjoy about this forum is its a great place to learn, but also a place where you would get called out for not racing fairly. Looking at your stats.... I'm just curious.

Unprovoked call out wouldn't you say? I agree with you, call out for not racing fairly but shouldn't we do this when asked about our opinion of a racing incident? Or when shown an example of questionable driving? I am not sure this was warrented.

@JoeDaSnow - I did not look up your stats and quite frankly don't care, congratulations on your win numbers.

Fair enough. But someone talks about win stats. I'm normally curious to see how they've done. Not to criticise, but general curiosity. What level are they at, how many races has it taken to get there, whats their SR track record.

There are people on here who have won 100's of races (maybe over a 1000, and I'm definitely NOT one of them) But if you're going to post about your wins. Surely the manner in which you got those wins has to be taken in to account? I could continually get DR resets to race against slightly lower ranked drivers and come and post about how many wins I've recorded.

But hey. If that's just me, then no issues.

Dragon Trail Seaside is the definition of a love/hate relationship. -1,600 DR in a race, hit the chicane twice. What an IDIOT. I don’t understand what the hell I’m doing. The night from Friday to Saturday was perfectly fine, I went through the chicane cleanly race after race, after race, after race. Now I hit it almost every race. What the goddamn hell am I doing...

Edit: Disconnected from the next race. Are you kidding me?! JESUS CHRIST.

I think most people like to. Have a look at others stats to compare with their own to see how they are doing, there in the public domain on several sites so no hiding them. Mine are boring except for me ability to keep my SR-S after I learned what it was all about and I seldom quit races now so my finish rate is way higher now than stats suggest. Its a reflection of everyone's progress. I love his winning record.

If I see mountain range graphs for both DR and SR pre-penalty patch, I’ll know they’re full of baloney.

Take this guy from a couple weeks back:

165 wins, 195 poles, 161 fastest laps, and mountain range graphs and over 150 DNFs over his 1.3k+ races.

Enough said.

Haha, I seem to remember seeing this on Idiots of the Week.

With the new penalty system I am being matched with players that are making their way up in DR by punting everyone around judging by their stats.

After tonight’s race at Autopolis I’m contemplating whether I should bother any more, it’s nigh on impossible to lose SR now so the idiots that are fast enough to be at B DR but filthy aren’t getting punished.

Please give it another little tweak PD!

Skipped the Nations Kart race, since I had no pace there and didn't want to practice for it....instead I had a blast running Autopolis from the back of the pack. There were usually several other no-Q runners starting behind me so that gave me a bit of an advantage, which allowed me to get some good results and actually come away with a net DR gain of 1900 after 9 or 10 races. When my guy @SileightyCyrus streams, he brings a crew of fast boi's with him, so we often worked together to move up the field and take out some of the trash on the way there. I managed several podiums and a bunch of top 5's. Only a couple incidents throughout the day, nothing major, but let's just say the new penalty system allows for a little elbows-out racing when it's necessary against a crazy driver. Overall, lots of good clean fun was had. Despite its unpopularity, I really enjoyed that combo.

I just ran across this genius.

He tried to punt me turn 1, but failed and I stayed ahead, then turn 2 another full speed punt try, fail, turn 3 I slowed, let him inside, predicting he would try to run me wide. Gave him a perfect PIT. He ended up facing the wrong way, stayed out after pitting, full speed rammed me AGAIN at the hairpin, but STILL I stayed on track then he ghosted trying to sideswipe me off post hairpin and put himself into ANOTHER spin on the grass! Hilarious turn of events.
4-5 laps of good racing but then I passed him-he did not like that.
I’ve done a bunch of these, they have been fun n clean except this miscreant. I’ve seen him before, he needs to relax because he’s just not fast enough to escape even if his punt succeeds.

Had a guy in a Ferrari chase me down today because I overtook him after he passed me when I had rejoined with no grip, it was a very clean pass as I was way faster and only there by my own mistake trying to give someone room and put a wheel on the grass, for the first 4 corners he gave it his best shot to try take me out but I was watching so was lucky to avoid him but couldn't understand how he managed to stay on the track. If he could manage to stay on the track then he should the been able to stay ahead of me, i finished 4th he was 15th in the end. Have to go back and watch the few replays I saved with crazy stuff going on.

Bah. My own worst enemy this week. Took myself out of more than half my races on T1, Suzuka. Started 2nd this afternoon. Spun out on lap 5. :banghead:

Goofy thing is, I had better results earlier in the week. Once my QT got in the 1:00, Wednesday-ish, I started missing T1.

Good racing around me all week though. 👍

wow, now that chart is....something! It's crazy how many relatively fast drivers there are with SR charts like that. You know they have the ability, but just don't care to keep it clean.

there was a guy racing from the back yesterday in several of my races who I've seen before, but don't know. He started behind me each time because of my higher DR I believe, but his technique was to follow me through on each overtake. I watched him on my radar so many times, I'd get a clean overtake and he would barge his way through the gap I created whether it was still there or not. Fortunately he only tried to push-to-pass me once, but he soon found out that wasn't gonna work since I outpaced him late in every race. I felt bad for all the people he was mugging though.

Hi all

I’ve been off the GT scene for a while, but decided to take a break from other racing games and give it a go - pretty late in the life cycle I know! Only done about 50 ish online races, but I find the “daily” races a love hate thing. Firstly, love the concept. But, I can’t really enjoy them fully as I wish they were “daily”, so changed more frequently. But more importantly I can’t help but think a quick, maybe one shot, qualy would be better before the race - rather than the time trial that decides the grid. I think it’d add more fun, wouldn’t take any more time really, as who routinely clicks race entry with seconds to spare?
Probably been discussed loads before? But as I’m new back here I was just adding my two cents worth. I also find the standard at the weekend fluctuates waaaay more. Usually the level of speed increases but also the level of ramming goes right up. It’s been hard to find a decent race today!

Been racing angry these past couple of days just because I have had enough of trying to be a clean racer when it seems everyone else has little interest in that concept. I have tried to be patient, I have tried to be forgiving but there is just no point when folks are just taking the piss.

I know I have let myself down with the way I have been driving and I am not really having any fun racing as I am.

I am trying to just race, get some good battles but with things as they are penalty wise that's virtually impossible. Try to do side by side with someone, assuming they don't run you off, some asshole will just barrel through at speed that would have put him of track. Hey why bother with those pesky brakes when they can use a mobile barrier to stay on track.

At the moment I am thinking I will give it next week to see if I can find some calm. If by the end of the week I am still driving the same, still angry, I am going to walk away until things change. This isn't racing, this isn't how I want to race and it really looks to be not worth the effort anymore.

Yesterday, I had won my 116th daily race at Daily Race A. It was also my 120th win in Sport Mode overall.

Congratulations Joe. We race in the same region. Be sure to say "Hello" in pre-chat.

I also looked at your stats. You are dedicated and have managed to complete all of the missions and campaign school. I have not managed that.
  • Distinct Days Driving 988
  • Campaign School 100 %
  • Campaign Circuit 100 %
  • Campaign Mission 100 %
Moreover, I see that you are now rated SR.S!!! Keep it up.

Had a nice little 2.5 hour session on Autopolis. Taking a teqilla break right now....might end up done for the night

First 2 races I got punted early. Stayed the course on both and wasn't able to salvage anything. Next 3 races were awesome! Ended up in a really fun lobby with a group of 4 or 5 of us that bounced from lobby to lobby together. One - "w", (2) - "first loser's". Like others have mentioned, racing was very "elbows out" (love the reference by I'm assuming us older guys btw) if you are coming through the pack, but generally pretty clean P-5 and above. Stuck to my strategy of 3M-7S except for when I qualified on the podium once (where I went 4M-6S). Someone mentioned a few pages back that this was a tire-saving race. He was spot on. My strategy of going like hell for 3 laps on the mediums.... and then taking it down to 85-90% on the softs worked superbly. It was kind of fun pitting early in 3rd place, exiting almost dead last, and then watching my positions tick back up in a few laps only to see myself be back near the front by lap 5 or 6.

Autopolis, like Laguna Seca and Bathurst; is an "equalizer" track. It definitely rewards consistency. I like that there's multiple passing areas...and multiple places to capitalize on people's mistakes. Its a racer's track for sure!

on another note, I decided to put "GTPLANET.COM" on my little lobby greeting thingee. That way I'm identifiable to those who frequent this board. Maybe we should all do something similar??

That way we can say what's up to one another!! :gtpflag:

@JoeDaSnow valid point raised here. It takes forever to get that far through the game.

You'll find that once you can maintain your SR. at a higher level. Your DR may steadily climb. So like @Little_Guppy said. Keep it up.

Having won that many races, you definitely have the potential to climb higher and higher. Wish you all the best on the journey to higher levels and more wins.

I wsn't around back when the daily races were daily, but I like the way it is now. I often don't get to race on any given day, and usually do the most racing on Sunday. If you like qualifying before a race, maybe give the FIA races a shot!

I feel you with this. I felt the same way early in the week, racing the 86 at Suzuka. It's too bad because I really like the combo, and am dissapointed I didn't race there more. What I did was log on to my alt, and race from the back. I usually find it more relaxing, and I don't worry about DR, or SR, and just have fun. If I do get a dirty driver, I might just barge on by when I catch up, or spin 'em around if I see them running others off, or maybe just let them go...depends on my mood. Many of my best races, based on fun factor, are these races. Did one at Autopolis in my Hertz mustang and had a blast to finish 10th. Had another there and got second in the 86. Both good races, though I got punted in the mustang. Had fun trying to catch the guy who did it, but it took me too long to get by the cars he smashed his way past. Oh well, I'll get him next time.

Yeah, does get to the point where you're frustrated with how dirty the lobbies can get. Completely agree with you on running an alt account.

Initially used to use mine to run from the back and learn tracks and also check how competitive my pace was on any given combo. Being an alt, if I encountered a dirty driver. I was then more prone to retaliation. Eventually came to realise I didn't want to come down to their level.

So maintained it as an alt account, and decided to stick to 1 qualifying lap, irregardless of how quick or slow it was, and racing from wherever that put me on the grid, It's at about the same level as my main account. But it allows me to just race, without worry of SR, DR or even combos I'm terrible with.

I feel you pain and I'm doing less races at the moment because it can be so annoying. I'm also finding ways to help them off the track by their own actions, braking earlier, taking different lines in some corners and if they want to cut in infront of me I no longer give them the room I once did. I find inside lines into corners like 1 & 2 in the C race spook some of them, you just brake at you normal point or just before and so many times they overshoot. Early in the week I was thinking of stopping for a while but why let them win. This weeksC race has lots of barrier penalties so it will.l be interesting to see how it works out, only races Gr1 here on slightly different track but loved it, did a lot of laps over the weekend and love in in Gr3.
