Today, I finally bought the Gr2 GT-R and see what I could do with it at Suzuka. In the past, cars of that speed and higher is where my skills fell off a cliff. I figured I'd be lucky to set a time lower that a 1:50.

1:48.888 and I believe I can squeeze out a few more tenths. Even in the one race I had, my pace was safe solid 49s. Suzuka has become a good track for me and I can't explain why. :odd:

3 races 3 wins, 4th race ( And last of the night according to my wife ), and wheel decided to play up and not turn in in to the esses. 2nd time it's done that over the last few days, maybe on its way out... :guilty:
Sad not to end on a good note. But still, loved GR2 - and I just know I can drop a few tenths next time :D
I did wonder where you disappeared to

Love Love Love GR2. Those cars are absolute animals! Way more fun round suzuka than gr3 - especially the NSX

Qualifying has been ok so far 1:48.3 with an optimal 1:48.1
Let the racing commence :) After dinner of course ;)

I didn't have much time, but I just had to race Gr.2. I love those cars. To me, their power and grip level is exactly what I think a race car should be.

Anyway, I managed a 1:51.4 in qualifying and raced three times, placing P5 or P6 every time. The first race saw me give up third place by inappropriately touching green ice and sliding into the kitty litter on the last lap. In the second race, some guy brake-checked me and I received a 10s penalty plus an SR drop. I managed third place in the last race. Somewhere in there I set a lap time of 1:49.1.

I wish I had more time to race!

Going put a heap of practice in later, I love GR2 but Suzuka is a weaker track of mine, I really like the track but doesn’t like me!!

@Arcflyer how are the races? What sort of time do I need for a top ten start? Ideally top 5?

I agree track doesn’t like me and I’m not that good running it. My qualifying time sucks. Did 3 races before work this morning. I started at the back of the pack in all 3. Made up some positions during laps 2-3, but I have been blowing lap 4 with dumb mistakes. Finished last in all three and took a -1K DR hit to boot. I’m not giving up though. I’ll be back at it later tonight. Driving the NSX

I generally don’t enter now if I think I’m not competitive, purely because at DRA I’d start at the back for sure at Suzuka , if I get higher up unless I’m confident I know I would mess up my race and potentially others so feel I’m better off practising.

I just don’t enjoy racing unless I feel confident and competitive.

Haha I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw you go off. I finished second behind you in the previous race and it was the same bunch so I fancied my chances but it didn't happen :( you were the only DR S in that race IIRC.

I'm kind've in the same boat - I don't think I'm very good at the GR.1 category, but the GR.2 cars are a beautiful balance for me. On the first day they came out I spent some time driving them in private lobbies and they were a joy to drive.

I won't be racing in Daily B as I just dislike the style of 4 lap sprint races - much prefer daily C and I'm focusing on manufacturer race tonight, but the day that I'm around for a Daily C GR.2 race is going to be wonderful.

I had 1.50 and was starting between 8 and 12, but probably need a low 49 for better positioning

Thanks for that, seems to be the standard at the moment, need to be within a second at least of the top ten to get a good grid slot.

Are the races clean?

Is anyone experiencing a change from Qualy to Race handling? I'm getting way too much understeer during the race. Not evident when I qualified. also, in the race, many spins up and down the field.

Same, I have to brake earlier in the race. It's normal with all cars in my experience. Hence I don't spend much time qualifying and rather learn to drive on the track. Then when I do a quali lap in between it feels almost too easy to drive the car and I instantly set a faster lap than my best lap in race without any real effort.

Learning to drive GR.2 on the track has cost me almost 2K DR though... Starting at the back is expensive.

I actually went 1.2 seconds faster in the race, than my qualifying. Two races and i'm done. I would like a different track to race on. My Fuji and Motegi hunger. is real.

These Suzuka daily races are immense fun, in any vehicle. Everyone who I've raced with seems to know the track well, It's certainly one that I've memorised well. The Gr.2 race made it seem like I was SR S, when in reality, I'm only SR B.

Exactly the same with me.

Interested to know what rank you guys are that are hitting the 1.49s and less.

I'm currently and have been for a long time DR S and SR S.

Another edit...DR B not S.

Wishful thinking there....

I‘m slowly climbing back to SR:S but my DR is still nuked as you don‘t make any big steps racing against D/B drivers :dunce:
Scored a few wins tho, so the drop isn‘t all bad :scared:

Had something very strange happen to me. Saved replay just need to work.out how to share. Almost like the game half crashed. Went back to the options screen halfway through race and went from 4th to 12 th and with a 20point reduction in sr.

I'll say this. In GT6 leagues I was in, I saw people being able to match their qualifying times in a race or close to it. In GT Sport, even the aliens can't seem to match their Q time except if wear is on and they're doing their second stint with less fuel. I'm inclinced to believe something is different during a race but I don't know what that is or how to prove that other than observation.

Anyways, here's my first effort with the Gr.2 GT-R. The first sector is quite fun when you get it right. Degner is never fun, especially the 2nd one. I just can't push that hard there during the race without risk of understeer.

Done 4 today and all been clean.
Gave NSX a go instead of the toms and got my time down to 1.49.880. Great until I saw the optimal time - 1.49.105 - more practice required.
Even though I am improving by 2 places in the race I an only getting 200 or so Dr points.

I hit 1:49.1 in a race, but I doubt I could do that consistently without a lot more practice. I'm A/S at the moment.

That's very good from where I'm sitting.

Just made another edit to my above post....sorry....DR B not S.

I'm holding back from certain races at the moment and just doing the ones I've been having good results at.

Almost halfway up the B ranking but keep coming up against the mid corner divers...much to my dismay.

I was at 99 again and just as the last race for the kudosprime day started I was matched with some idiot again who felt the need to brakecheck me and close the door twice. Down to 82 again 🤬

Well for the most part, GR2 at Suzuka has been kind, always some idiot but I’ve got back to SR S, my goal from now on is to maintain that at all costs. It’s been pure punishment starting from the bottom again with the wretches down there

There is 1 more hour until kudosprime updates I think

I thought it was midnight UK time?

It was, but recently the UK went into Daylight Savings Time and now it updates at 1am UK Time I think (which is in 1 hour).

The other day I had the exact same annoyance as you, where I had gone down to a low SR at the end of the day, but did more races before 1am and it went back up. Also in the same situation as you regarding the DR reset
