I had time this morning for some sprint races in between stuff, and I must say GR.2 turns Alsace in a decently fun experience. For speed though, not for contact from others. Everyone seems to have their own idea about what a good line is and such a wide track just invites diving everywhere.

I started with a race A as B wasn't up yet, mistake nr 1. A 3 bar connection suddenly jolted into me in the corner giving me a 4 sec penalty, then I quit at :49 to switch to race B which had me down to 83 SR (from 99). On Alsace it's pretty much impossible to gain SR, at least in the early morning. Match making has little to work with and puts A/S to E/B together (must be new accounts to afraid to use their main account). Since I'm still not qualifying (was doing other stuff in between anyway) it was quite a challenge.

First 2 races still blue S, yet only +2 and +3 SR. Then the sensible people had gone off to work I guess and it turned very dirty or rather very messy. Having a red S after climbing up to 4th through a field of red A's to C's, I still count that as a win... Not PD though. Any contact from another car, no penalty or SR Down, is still an SR loss, so next race I had the clean race bonus with a red A for SR in the result screen.

This kept going for a while, sometimes managing a blue rating, only worth 1 or 2 points, finishing strong every race with multiple podium finishes. However with the weak fields (eg 3 DR.B rest DR.D) and daily B penalties I'm down 3.5K DR and 30 SR over all, B/A.

Ratings are meaningless as long as the SR difference between sprint races and daily C remains massive, and matchmaking per time of day has such a big influence on DR. GR.2 is a fun drive on Alsace which is the important part. I'll give the 3 laps GR.4 on Sarthe a try tonight yet I'm sure I'll be back in GR.2 right after as I rather get unfairly penalized than fall asleep behind the wheel on the straights :) Besides according to my stats I have already raced Sarthe 44 times, vs 33 on Alsace. (Nr 1 is now 272 on Mount Panorama, recently surpassed Monza at 267)

And that's why I'm not racing today, love Alsace and gr2 is awesome there.. But people just go for it like insane, and catching right angle in turns there makes a huge difference at the exit..

I thought so, I set a 1:46 with the Lexus and was curious if the NSX was any better but I'll stick with the Lexus when I get back to setting
laps after work.
Throw the brake bias to the front and the NSX is great. I was faster on Willow Springs than with the GTR once I had done this.

I was a second faster with the GTR due to the NSX sliding under braking in some corners. Went back to the NSX with the brake change and managed another half second over the GTR time. HUGE difference from before.

That's the problem, people catching the corners at right angles :banghead: Dive in, slow down at the last moment to swipe everyone out of the way and turn at the very back edge. That's why I don't like wide tracks. Taking the corners correctly (indeed at the right angle) leaves you open to bump pass city. Then you have people that brake in weird places for the long sweeping wide right hander or don't brake at all for the sharp right after. It's definitely a track where you need the rear view mirror more than front view!

Edit: Yeah, I'm going to bottom out today. I'm doing GR.2 again and for every blue race there's a red one that counts 10 times worse. I'm currently at 29.5K DR, 46 SR. Lots of fun racing from the back yet just one laggy car, brake checker or spin out means a red rating. Matchmaking is a sham as I'm now mostly racing DR.D...

Hmm now psn is down, SR 31.

Well, the Group 4 race at Le Mans didn't go according to plan. The top 2 guys in my race didn't even pit; both driving Veyrons. HOW???? I chose to pit and I dropped way back in the pack. I got myself back through the field to come 5th, but the leaders were 26 seconds ahead of me. Race needs to be longer so you have no choice but to pit.

In fuel map 3 you don't have to pit in the Veyron. With short shifting you can probably get more speed out of it without going down to map 3. 3 laps is too short indeed, you can switch to race A or B at :20 or :50 right after or an 11 minute wait for the next race.

I did a couple races on Sarthe to raise my SR as the driving behavior was getting a bit too chaotic for not qualifying. Another annoying side effect of the 3 laps is that there's 'only' 12 SR to gain or so, instead of 24 yesterday on race C, so takes longer to recover from Alsace. Hence I messed around with no stop strategies for a bit. I did eventually qualify for one more race, won that one starting 2nd while pitting. I pitted in the first lap though to get rid of laggy #1 and #2. Passed them when they came out of the pit in lap 3.

Now I'm back on Alsace, got a clean streak of 3 so far, finished 2nd last race. Yet only net +1 SR for 3 races... I'm still not qualifying for Alsace, fun challenge escaping the carnage. I'm A/A atm, but that can change any moment. Break time first, more racing later tonight.

After my break, first race someone brakes hard in front of me for the sweeping right hander that requires no braking, could not avoid a slight bump, 10 sec penalty, -10 SR for the race. I already regret getting back to DR.A. A/B now.

Race 2, finished 4th, clean race plus fastest lap, neutral SR rating from getting hit by the 8 red ratings I passed along the way. -16 DR!

Race 3, Sarthe intermission with qualifying (:30 race connects to :50 race). Started second, bumped to third in Mulsanne, back to second before pit, passed first in pit yet two no stoppers got by, caught one, finished second. Only +6 SR thanks to getting bumped in lap 1. A/A again. +574 DR.

Race 4, back to Alsace non qualifying. Finished 3rd with clean race bonus, yet again neutral SR from people trying to push me out. +229 DR. 3100th race finished!

Race 5, Alsace, 5th place finish with clean race bonus. These people did not like to be passed yet huzzah a blue rating +2 SR. 71, almost there, not. Lost 115 DR for 5th.

Race 6, Sarthe intermission, no stop, started 4th, dropped back a bit, second after skipping the pit. First was uncatchable, also a no stopper who finished 23 sec ahead of me. +7 SR. Daily C is stingy today, I only got one 0.9 sec short cut penalty. SR 78. +651 DR

Race 7, Alsace non qualifying. Finished 3rd again yet no clean race bonus as I had to leave the track one time for a car not holding their line. No penalty, didn't hit anyone, but got hit from behind a few times, -4 SR, 74. +105 DR.

Race 8, Alsace. I get rammed off the road by the first car I pass, 3 hits then into the wall. Since it's a DR.D I get a 5 sec penalty. I climb up to second and keep my position at the finish despite the 5 sec penalty, in a further clean race. Clean on my part, most of the room was red, as low as C, with death threats uttered in the post chat... However the rammer cost me 16 SR for the race. Back to A/B SR 58. +217 DR.

Race 9, Final Sarthe Intermission. I start 3rd, car in front of me brakes a little too early. I move to the side to get out of his slip stream and avoid him yet he mimics my movements to catch me on his bumper, 10 sec penalty. Next chicane he pushes me wide into a shortcut penalty so I'm over 10 sec. Further clean race except for some annoying shortcut penalties for avoiding people. I pit in lap one to escape the dirty drivers, finish 7th with fastest lap, -9 SR, 49 now. The dirty driver won the race... -223 DR.

Race 10, Final attempt at Alsace. I get completely taken out on lap 1, traling behind the field at the end of the first lap. I manage to finish 5th without any penalties despite most of the room having red B's and C's with red dots as well. I get the fastest lap again, yet -3 SR from getting hit, SR 46. -360 DR.

That's my night of trying to drive as clean as possible while remaining competitive. Qualify well if you want to hold onto your SR doing sprint races. Match making is nuts and does nothing to match people of similar skill.

Brand's hatch tomorrow in the daily C, should only take 3 or 4 races to get back to 99 SR on that track. PD balance your game ffs.

Shoutout to @Baliwa at race b. We came home 1st and 3rd. :gtpflag:
your new account? well, 2nd is my friend spoofing use Japanese account so he get less hit by Japanese  get 2 win but my SR stuck in B, even get clean race tag my after race still get white not blue B

I seemed to be the only one running the Citroen GT in the daily C tonight. If you short shifted aggressively you could keep fuel map 1 all race, and get about 1/4 to 1/2 of a lap at full pace rev'ing it out if you needed to close a gap to get back into slipstream. It seemed to do well with tires also. Was finishing in the top 5 pretty consistently but couldn't breach top 3.

I also had a strange encounter where a player gave me consecutive penalties, and the game indicated that they received 10s penalty both times, but the driver never slowed down to serve it and I guess it never counted up or d/q'd them. So clearly the messages you get aren't consistent with what's actually being dealt out. I'll post a video tomorrow. And there was that strange new "feature" where a car ghosts into you... while you're both going full speed.

It was a tough race, I messed up a lot, but shifting very early in the veyron helped.

Should be interesting to see what cars people choose.

Unbelievable. Pole position to 8th. Last lap was manure. I was racing perfectly. The Citroen behind didn't touch me once. Close racing.
A Trophy somehow wound up behind me. Raced fair. I gave room for it to pass cleanly at the back hairpin. It got the lead and I was quicker through the esses. It went wide at the left hander then I gave room for it to gather up. Come to the right-hander and it brake checks me on exit. I bump it and off he goes. I get 10 seconds.

I stop to serve it as 1st & 2nd got bye bye. Then, a yellow Impreza is coming up fast. I gave it room leading into the final chicane. That too brake checks me. No need to hit the brakes on exit. I get another 10 seconds!

I didn't even stop for that. Just finished the race. Ridiculous. Maybe I should have just blocked the whole race. Stupidity! Was looking forward to racing all night. Bump that. I'm done. Watching Pacific Rim 2.

Well, the Group 4 race at Le Mans didn't go according to plan. The top 2 guys in my race didn't even pit; both driving Veyrons. HOW????

I ran with the Viper. I was revving it out to the redline and still had half a laps worth when I pitted. I could have done no pit if I short shifted.

Should be interesting to see what cars people choose.

I'll be using the NSX or the Viper. I just never seem to be able to get the same times with the Corvette.

Before work I did one race in the Bugatti and like you I pitted. I still finished where I started but realized I had to use a fuel strategy. So tonight after work I did 5 races playing around with the fuel map the whole race. I would switch on the fly between 1-3 mostly depending on the situation. Usually finishing with ,1 laps fuel left. Made up between 3-7 places every race except 1 where I was punted into someone who later retaliated, fun times. :) Got to race a few other GTP members including vvise.

Really struggling with a good lap time for Race A today. I have TC set at 1 and brake bias front 2 but can only do high 2:15's
should i just throw in towel and turn on CSA to get a slightly better lap time?

Second MhtyClipster warning, Nurburgring seems same as last time for this Grp4 race
so I'm staying clear before tonight's FIA races at least.

Race B is FULL of rammers and divebombers today, tried a couple of races and lost count of how many times I have been punted off mainly at T1. You have been warned.
Thought I'd have a break after my first race. Still the same crap shoot. This time, it's ye ol bump 'n run ploy, by a penalty player.

PD, either permanently ghost penalty cars or Auto-drive them. They(that don't serve them and cause havoc) are killing the races.

The game is hell-bent not to let me in race C 🤬:boggled:

Crashed few times during Q, then twice when it's about to start loading the race...
Missed two races now (that's 1h wasted):ouch:
Anyone else?

Actually in the nsx it was quite easy, bit of short shifting and you don't have to pit. I had podiums and a lot of Dr and sr... I watched a lot of carnage with veyrons, vw, Ferraris - and then all of them went to pit :)
In one race I gained 15 places :D

Suntek that's harsh man, had no issues today with matchmaking or crashing, had that issue previously however and I know how frustrating it can be. Hope you had a good chance to get your quali time down at least.

Did one Race C on Brands Hatch, happy to say I managed to finish 14 laps with one little error, having in mind I used the RSR without any assists (except for ABS) it is a good thing to see my consistency improves - I finished 3rd and got only 600DR... I think for longer races the DR points distribution should be reworked, I'm almost 100% sure that I will get 600 DR for finishing 3rd on Race A/B where you have to play less time for the same result... I know it depends on the people you are in the lobby with, but still - this is a bit encouraging.

Finally managed to get into C, started 2nd. P3 goes I to bump pass me on last turn in L3, almost pushing me off the track, then did everything to block me on any overtake attempts.
Instead, I just cruised to the end at p3, rather than risk getting rammed off.
Ended up with clean race and one of only 2 without penalty,+ 24Sr, back to S :D
Gonna do some lobbies till I can do FIA tonight.

My room was a shishkebab of DR and SR, no idea what's up with matchmaking

I love the daily races idea but damn the lack of decent tracks in this game is beginning to make daily races a bit *****. Not sure how today looks but the past few days have been atrocious.

I just want a regular solid race track (ring gp, bathurst etc) with decent race cars. Instead we get Group 3 at tsakuba, anything at lemans is a mess because people can not remember it as it's so long, crappie reverse maggorie , the full length yamagawa that is WAY too long and impossible to remember each turn, or crash fest Tokyo. ....need more proper race tracks. Even brands and willow are horrible to race on, off camber, no passing zones, always people sliding off.

Desperately missing Elkhart Lake, oulton park, Imola, spa and a few others from project cars.

Tracks with proper passing areas.

Jesus, get it right guys. Haven't had a solid race is a week.
