Had my best and worst race of the week today. Had some trouble with my patients at work, came home absolutely fuming and thought a nice round of GT would calm me down... needless to say that wasnt the case... Having driven the Jaguar and Aston all week, I decided to take my usual go-to car, the RCF.
Thought it would be still fast enough, and good enough un fuel that I might jump some cars in the pit.
Race starts, I start in 13th place, little bit unusual for me since I usually start somewhere around 6th. Get bumped on the first corner, back to 17th place. Mayhem ensues on the uphill part of Panorama, I find myself back where I started in 13 th place. Everytime I slow down to not hit the cars in front of me, someone behind me takes the opportunity to bomb inside, and I either have to cause a crash or concede the position. Needless to say my mood wasnt getting better, when I get a 4 second penalty for driving by an accident where 3 cars in front of me are spinning around the track.
Just about to ragequit the race, but being somewhat close to DR:A, I decide to stick it out. Somehow finish the race in 14th place, turn off the PS4 right away.

Came back couple hours later, having calmed down and in a way better mood. Went with the Aston Martin, starting in 3rd place. I manage to overtake 2nd place on turn 2, and manage to stay within half a second of first place. Managed to overtake him through Skyline, and took home the win.
First win on SR:S ever, plus fastest lap and a clean race bonus. Decided to just quit while ahead and didnt drive another race so far.

What I didnt realize when picking the RCF was that while its as fast as the Aston in qualifying, in the race I couldnt use its advantage on the technical part of the track, since there are basically no overtaking opportunities. I constantly had to slow down on top of the mountain, only to get murdered on the straights by the cars behind me.

Dive bomb of the day. Yes, he got a penalty and I did not, so at least some justice. (I’m the white Lambo)

This is another video with an example of how racing SHOULD look like. I had quite a few like this on this track this week:

Just a quick clip from race C, I got a 3 second penalty for this, I am the green Aston in front to make it clear. Was it my fault PD?

Gotta love the penalty system...

Wtf? What was that all about?

Got a contender for that fresh out of this night.

Holy Batfisting Cave this penalty system is bonkers now. At least they have consistency to blame the victim..:dunce: Got a 5 sec penalty and lost quite a few of SR points there. Can we have a pinned thread for this system..

You would usually only get a penalty for being hit from behind if the game concluded you were going too slow.. but the event was sufficiently unusual to probably cause the algorithms to just misfire. Or the penalty was for 'cutting' after you went off, which is also of course a misfire. Nothing is perfect hah.

You ever have one of those races where pretty much everything goes wrong?

I had 3 people spin out in front of me and I couldn't avoid them. Also kind of cut off 1 guy a little. Managed to pick up a penalty for each hit, as well as lose a ton of time :)

Oh well time to try and work my way back up the SR rating again.

Haha tough luck man. I had the worst luck on this track in my first and only FIA race thus far ( this was a while back though ).

Check out this first lap :banghead:

Going good so far.

First race had a couple GT-Rs and an NSX acting like Bumplestilskin. Even when I gave them all plenty of room. Still bumped me about. I served them back, pulled away and all three were fighting each other the rest of the race.

This is a different race. I started 6/14 behind it and got pushed back to 8th. Was a race of attrition. The Pole sitting Veyron that crashed at the chicane(fell to 5th), won the race.

The races have been really dirty lately. No one is trying to hold their line. They simply move you out of the way to get positions. There needs to be a better reporting system where you can show video proof of people just ramming and divebombing just for the heck of it.

Keith.

Just had another one. A TT, can't get off the corners like my awd. It tapped me on the exit of the final corner. The TT has top speed over me, but still wants to tap me with all that room on the right side of the track.
So, on the uphill esses, just like the Veyron, tap, tap, tap. This time, I didn't forget the gravey. Smashed him back. Enough is enough with this crap.

Great racing.

I need to create another account as well to try something new - like no qualify.

Heard it during watching this, but has anyone else noticed during races that the noises of other players impacts seems a bit different from before? Like "closer" but probably just louder? I'd suggest I might be going mad but thats already happened so it can't be that - or can it?
Now that you mention it, yes. It was enough to take me off guard because the cars were behind me but the noise made me think someone was in my blind spot.
Maybe it's my sound settings. I have the sound of other cars put at max to give ne a better picture of where they are even in blind spots

Racing at Bathurst when an Evo pushes me to the grass and I end up pitting him (I'm already having a bad night racing thanks to a bunch of Mustangs) SR dips from S to B. Only good thing from this race was there was an intense battle for 8th.

Yegads! That was pretty special . Gotta say I was digging the sound of the Mazaada. Zoom zoom :dopey:.

Racked up about 20 wins on Race A at Brands Hatch, there needs to be more flowing circuits that suit old sports cars.

There also needs to be more old sports cars.
We need more true manual transmission cars ( be nice if the clutch actually worked with tune-able transmissions as well. new Ford GT is rather disappointing ), while multi clutch boxes may be state of the art etc they can also be incredibly boring.

Racing today started out great, then things got dirty and worse I had to drive the Supra last.
I went up to almost 34K DR, then down to 27.2K thanks to the Supra and a faulty CO alarm.

Best lap: Peugeot VGT GR3 2:05.080

Fastest race: RC F GT3 19:06.129
Fastest lap: 2:03.138

Shortest pit time: Hyundai Genesis 30.280 (48% Fuel)
Longest pit time: Toyota GR Supra 36.104 (84% fuel)

Peugeot RCZ: Dependable, consistent, not the fastest yet easy to maneuver in the unruly back.

Peugeot VGT: Not that consistent, but I managed to improve my best lap with it to 2:05.080. So close to breaking into the 2:04's. In the second race I lost 3 places at the end due to this:

Lag plus an accident causes the car behind me to spin into me, which gives me SR Down, 5 sec penalty, spins me out on the grass after which I run out of fuel since I measured it so precisely I had nothing left to power back up from a standstill. -7 SR for the race. I hit his door, totally my fault!

Porsche 911: Ok ish, as long as you don't touch curbs in the wrong places. Prone to spinning out instantly as if you hit a pinball bumper.

Renault R.S.01: Terribly unbalanced through the esses, I could not get a good line through there with this car. Getting bumped off in both races didn't help either. Friday night, half of the drivers are probably DUI.

Subaru WRX: The first 2 races with this car were so dirty I did a third one to get a less contaminated result. The biggest problem again Ford GT drivers. Blocking on the mountain then even with a better corner exit and drafting, the WRX can just about keep up, so out brake, which leads to a angry Ford GT driver that will punt you off in the final corner... I did come very close to my best lap with the Peugeot VGT, only 0.009 slower. It's a great drive up the mountain and through the esses as if the game is on easy mode.

Toyota GR Supra: By far the worst pos ever invented. Do not drive on this track, especially not with AT. It beats the Corvette for worst fuel consumption yet lacks any benefits in return. It's slow, gets left behind while drafting and needs 5 laps in FM2 to even make it.
In the first race I only passed the other Supra in the race, the rest of the positions I made up were from rage quits and one driver that ran out of fuel. My time for that race is only sub 20 minutes as it was a fast room and I never saw anyone after passing the other Supra.
In the second race my CO alarm went off, got disconnected for pausing while I was checking out the problem. (Detector expired) That dropped me down to DR.B from 30.5K to 27.8K in one race thanks to the extra -1500 kick down.
So a third race to get a second result. I passed one car after being behind him for the first 5 laps until I could run in FM1 and finally get far enough next to him on the downhill to make a pass. Never again.

3 cars left to test.

I'm watching this thinking you're crazy the lap is generally ok and the RS spin out was an accident that was just one of those things BUT THEN!!!! haha. That last sector was something else.

Penalty for an out of control car hitting you haha amazing

After struggling with the F1, I figured on taking a break and regaining some more of my lost SR and maybe if I'm lucky, a few DR into the bargain. Sadly things didn't go entirely to plan. After trying a few cars I found during qualifying the Corvette was actually nice and stable, when it wasn't bouncing off curbs. Qualified second last in a mixed grid of mostly people in higher DRs, with the alien @xxxman1 on pole :gtpflag:. The only time I saw his Veyron was during the pan of the starting grid before auto drive .

The race gets going and the guy in last place makes a dash up the inside at the chicane. I just let him on through. I figured he'd come unglued later. Sadly the handling of the 'vette during the race was nothing like qualifying, and I was struggling to make the turns. I was hanging with the group and made a couple of places when i got to the bus stop. Qualifying I'd been consistently threading the needle at full throttle with both the 'vette and a bunch of other cars. Not this time :scared:. Back to last place for me. I was finding it hard going after that and did manage to claw back a few places, only to stack it at the bus stop again :banghead:. I finished second last, and I only have my self to blame. Not sure what happened to XXXman, he got fastest lap but didn't win. :odd:

SR went up to 88, so that's positive, but DR took a hit and I'm about 650 away from the 2k drop to DR/D. Another day visiting DR/C .

Had a win yesterday in the veyron, pole but lost the lead in the damn bus stop but got it back on the last lap. Yes I went for a gap, no contact having spent the past few races getting shunted off I thought why not.

Also a bizarre race, sitting 3rd about 5 secs behind 1st and 2nd who I could see in the distance, yellow flags, I go past a ghosted p2 and nearly p1, finish second. The replay confirmed P2 came from miles back and took out the leader. Though i cant see why. I'll upload later it's quite odd but gained tons of DR, in two races went from 20087 to 22378. Getting closer to an A rank finally.

SR went up to 88, so that's positive, but DR took a hit and I'm about 650 away from the 2k drop to DR/D. Another day visiting DR/C .
Different situation same results here

After struggling with the F1, I figured on taking a break and regaining some more of my lost SR and maybe if I'm lucky, a few DR into the bargain. Sadly things didn't go entirely to plan. After trying a few cars I found during qualifying the Corvette was actualy nice and stable, when it wasn't bouncing off curbs.

Led till last lap 4th corner with 2s. Out braked myself at T5 then let 3 cars passed before re-entering the track finished 4th as I aimed at regaining Sr. Back to 94. 👍

Anyway, so nice to meet you in daily.:gtpflag:

Nice to see a familiar name too, although you must have been punished for your sins to be matched up against the lower ranks . I'm assuming the 3 cars passed because you wanted to make a safe re-entry?

I had another crack at DTS, this time with the Viper. Similar results. I did have a couple of contacts which left me with a neutral SR. I had to keep easing back because there was a group that were all going slower then me and there was no way through. Tapped someone coming out of the bus stop because lets face it, when you have momentum through there is kinda hard to suddenly slow down!

The holiday is over, back to DR/D. :yuck:

Just had an interesting race at Dragon Trail. Started 5th. Got through first few corners and up to the top of the course when I got shoved off into the kitty litter. I was fuming. 🤬🤬🤬 Got back on the track straight away in 15th. I then spent the next two and a half laps working my way back through the other drivers nice and cleanly. Down the bottom of the hill after the bend, at one point the two cars in front decided to have a fight and hit each other parting like the waves both going into the wall and I went straight through the middle. Anyway, by the end of the third lap, through some clean overtakes and a few crashes through the bus stop I made it up to 6th, where I held of for the last lap. I had only dropped 1 place and a few hundred dr points.

I felt like having a rant, but I wasn't sure who knocked me off so I decided not to bother and saved the replay. On looking at the replay, it appears the car behind me caught the kerb before the corner and basically slid into me, so I felt better because at least it wasn't intentional and I beat him in the end. :D

The best thing however, was I still managed to get the clean race bonus :D

I'm going to take a break for an hour or so, while my heart rate calms down.
