I was just in a race with that guy who's ranked #1. He beat 2nd place by 41 seconds.

That sounds mega impressive!

This is my training week for practicing with the Grp1 cars since I don't use them very often so I hope it provides me some tips.

It's interesting to compare as the EU board when I left this morning had mixed results in the top 10 but Alpha Cipher's result shows
a more 919 bias as expected.

So no different than no tuning then, where all the sheep just use the same META car anyway.
The one fits all tuning. Funny if the top guys share a blag tune and people use it.

finally tuning, oh my
now that weekly schedule makes sense
unfortunately this is on that broken track and in a group which I don't like
but it brightens the future
keep GT great, lol

Sunday afternoon was chaotic racing from the back having me start behind more and more D/S drivers with impatient other non qualifiers behind me. In t2 races I ended up with 3 penalties.

First, I mistakenly try to race, forgetting this is not a racing game, it's an avoidance simulator. Stupid of me, 2 sec penalty:banghead:
Then again, stop trying to race idiot, of course you get pushed into the wall and get a 4 sec penalty. :banghead::banghead:
Third, ok stay behind, no more side by sides, so I get hit from behind into the car in front of me, 4 sec penalty :banghead::banghead::banghead:

That dropped me to SR.A (77), so I finally qualified as the matchmaking would only get worse. I did a lap between races, set a 2;05.5 time which got me a 3rd place start and an easy win with 14 sec gap.

Back to SR.S and the fast rooms I started 9th to 11th in the races after, back to normal.

I managed to finish, 10th, 7th, 4th, 6th, 5th and 8th with that. However starting in the mid field isn't that great either so I did another 2 qualify lap between races and ended up with 2:04.742 a which got me up to 7th, a bit better. That netted me a 4th, 5th and two 2nd place finishes.

That brought me to my 400th race on Bathurst, which was my goal for the night. A nice even number before the track disappears for who knows how long. It was 2:00 AM EST already and most fast people had signed off by now. I started 4th and when I saw the start I feared the worst.

Lag everywhere and I do not have the best memories of the car in front of me...

Expecting a dive in T1 for sure I took a defensive line on the inside, managed to avoid getting hit from the outside yet the car behind took enough room to creep up beside me to T2. I was on the outside and it seemed like he was going to hit me yet lag caught up and he reset to behind me just in time so I could take the corner. His laggy car then bumped me in T3 yet I held on and he backed off a bit. I started to chase the first 3 that managed to get a little bit ahead after dealing with the 1 bar connection behind me. Which was good since with room in front I could go full speed without worrying about running into them and thus increase the gap behind me.

Thus started a long patient chase of the first three. 2nd and 3rd exchanged places a couple time, I chose not to get mixed in, keep safely behind for now. At the pit my strategy paid off. I had the most fuel left and jumped to 2nd coming out of the pit. The Brazillian in a Mustang came out close behind me and tried to over take in T2. I took the inside line and was still slightly ahead at corner entry, hugged the inside and came out ahead. Then put more distance on him in T3 and T4.

I was 4.5 sec behind first which I slowly managed to reduced to 2 sec in the last lap. Already settling for 2nd place I start my last lap driving carefully as I don't expect to make up another 2 sec in one lap. Then ifirst place finally makes a mistake earning him a track cut penalty and making it possible for me to get right behind him in the esses. I thought I could just stay on his bumper and win yet that's not a very honorable thing to do and I prepare to pass on the straight.

However in the corner before the straight we take very different lines. After driving in the unruly back for so long I always take that corner on the inside as otherwise there is a 110% chance you will get dived on. He, however started braking early to take a wide entry for best exit. That shoots me up on his inside beside him. Winning with a bump pass intentional or not is even worse so I scrape the inside wall to lose some more speed, still tiny contact yet I let him safely go ahead,

That screwed up my exit a bit but I draft catch him on the straight. Not enough though, I only have a nose next to his rear wheel at the slight right with him on the outside. Again not willing to risk a bump pass I let go of the gas to give him full road for safe passage. However the Brazilian has caught up drafting coming up fast in the Mustang and bumps me when I lift. Not enough to cause trouble, just enough to destroy any plans at attempting an out brake and side by side maneuver at the bottom of the hill. I stay behind first on the way down to the sharp left and the Brazilian bumps me again from behind, this time causing me to end up in the grass with 2 wheels. I hang on, Brazil hits me one more time in the right hand corner which sends him going wide into the grass. And for once I do not get a penalty for someone else's crap driving!!!

I get behind first in the final corner, too much distance to make up to attempt an over take and I expect him to scrub his probably minor track penalty before I can pass. He attempts just that, yet fails to scrub it completely, 0.1 sec becomes 1 sec and I win with less than half a second to spare. I'll take it, 400th race on Panorama, 12th win on that track.

Go Canada!

That concludes a great week on one of my favorite tracks. It already was my most driven track at 310 races, adding 90 to the tally last week. Since I qualified and stuck with one car for the last day my DR shot up to 38.7K. Stable it is not, it's getting more smooth with the weeklies though.
yYSc.jpg

First week St. Croix where I started switching cars every race after getting bored of the Ford which made a nice hill.
Second week Interlagos my weakest track yet managed to improve during the week.
Third week, Panorama GR.3 testing sending me up with a set back from Toyota and a disconnected.
Then going from 27k to 39.7k by sticking with the RC F GT3 and qualifying.

This week, GR.1 testing!

Great racing with you, my silly mistake on the last lap... still stings today!! although, even if i had scrubbed the penalty completely, i think you still would have been over the line first. i tried to set a q time in gr.1 after this race and the speeds are so high i felt cross eyed after a short session.

Great race indeed! I still make plenty mistakes on that track after all those races. I missed the pit entry twice again yesterday. One I simply forgot to pit wondering why everyone was pitting early and I suddenly got in first.... Luckily the RC F can do a 6th lap with only a tiny bit of fuel saving, the tires suck though.

Reading here that tuning is allowed isn't very promising for me. I don't even want to touch the brake balance let alone fiddle with pages of settings. TCS is the only thing I touch. Back to no qualifying anyway, 20 cars to try out. See how fast that DR can go down again!

You can most likely find a good setup on this very site or on youtube for whatever GR1 car you want to use.

I've put in a request on Minkihl's tuning page for the Audi R18 '16, as it's my favorite on that track. When I used to use tunes in casual lobbies, his were always the best for me. I consider him a tuning genius.

The brake balance is something I faff with an awful lot. It can really change the car, I find anyway.

Seems race B is one-make in EU..

Edit: lmao, did B on Asian account, mixed bag of dr/sr, demolition derby:boggled:

The only Gr1 car I have is the Toyota TS050, and I have no credits to get anything else so I will be using a setup by @praiano63 for the time being.

Just thought I share this little clip as it is almost comical that I would get a penalty when not even on the track, and that I get hit ...

I will be joining you in that regard, I have a mission to try all 20 cars in the class myself this week so imagine I will have a lot of DR/SR up's and downsies.

Not only is @MINKIHL definitely a tuning Master, but also a super competent driver and a cool Guy. I respect him as a driver and had a super time being part in his EGT3M Championship.

Enjoying the sven strategy, so far. Starting in the back has been fun, in the sense that there's always someone to battle with. Qualifying up front can be lonely and boring. I just did race C without qualifying, and technically I crossed the finish line first, but there was this tiny matter of 15 penalty seconds, which relegated me to second :guilty:. It also helped that the guys up front were beating the hell out of each other.

i find less is more with regards to tuning. the big one for me is the diff and bb setting, that can drastically change a cars characteristics either to your preference or the opposite lol

sometimes i wonder if GT is accurate in regards to changing suspension settings. the stock tune should be "OK" but for example how much negative camber does the 919 race car run in real life at this track? it would be interesting to find out if real world settings make for a faster car in the game

Unless they gave it for cutting the corner...which is also as ridiculous

I had a few good races today in the Toyota, none-stopping is possible if you go slowly enough, I even had a couple of podiums ahead of those rocketship Audi's and Porsche's. But now I read tuning is allowed I have no motivation to race it again.

I’m fairly certain the penalty was the contact that occurred when you were ghosted, Ive had a similar one when I messed up bus stop chicane and I was supposedly ghosted when another driver managed to hit me.

Well I guess I will adopt the start from last place approach as well then, can't be any worse than starting there anyway's and I did say to
Alpha Cipher I need to practice my overtaking to do less "divebombs" so thanks for the motivation to try this.

The Le Mans track limits are the worst in any racing game I've ever come across. You can completely ignore the existence of some corners, and yet you still get penalties through the 2 Mulsanne chicanes for taking the real line

Tell me about it, found that out this morning when trying to set a lap on my spare account, I personally think they are better track
limits than before the update though but maybe that's just me.

They are definitely better than before, but they also have a way of tricking you. You can go 4 wheels off track on some corners, and get a penalty if you just touch the white line on others.

Put a lot of time into qualifying today, so far liking the Audi R18 the best. But for some reason, I cant put a consistent life together if my life depended on it... Best qualifying time so far is a 2.25.6, optimal time from that session is a 2.22.7 . At least gives me some hope to be somewhat competitive over the week

I know it's not the way of this forum, but I think it's high-time we start calling out dirty drivers for who they are. I can understand the initial "want to get back" hit, but I don't get the overly aggressive take you out at all cost attacks. Just did daily race B and the same driver took me out on the first lap, first corner. Then he took out another driver on the last lap for no reason. This needs to stop. It's not enjoyable and it's not fun. And don't tell me it's the kids. Those little buggers should be in school. Just venting I guess.

Keith.

C is fun with tuning, but seriously am I the only one that gets annoyed by fuel notice for an entire lap on Le Mans?
I mean ok I get it, it's running out in 1,3 laps, but it doesn't have to cover most important part of my screen for an entire lap, twice lol

Don't like the Ford for race B so went with the AMG. 3 races and 3500 Dr points lost. That's me done for this week. Anyone know what the tracks are for next week haha ?

Perhaps we should have a separate thread with a “wall of shame” with the names and video evidence ...

It's not in forum rules for allowing naming/shaming as Famine has explained very clearly over in the FIA thread but no doubt he'll add
some comment here soon enough.

Another week of races at Tsukuba??? I know GTS doesn’t have the most extensive track list, but come on :banghead:

Avoid. Bumper cars, bumper cars, bumper cars, oh and lots of cars bumping each other.
