I'm all about Race B this new week, working on improving qualifying lap time and racecraft, nowhere better than Panorama. Race A is a snoozefest and Tokyo is mostly a long straight.

Well, I'm officially throwing in the towel. Not possible to rise past SR.B on BMB.

It's especially bad this evening, yet perhaps hardly anybody cares anymore after a week of DQs and DR resets. Dirty still wins more often than not, unless a lucky one escapes while 3rd takes out 2nd.

No wins tonight, only got taken out every race. Somehow after my initial 1 point SR drop, that cost 25K DR, I kept getting blue ratings until SR.B where the penalty system decided again it was my fault for getting cars crashed into me. Oh well, still had a couple awesome clean battles for 4th and 2nd after the escapee escaped and the dirty ones kept each other busy.

Final score DR 9700, SR 31. 4x DQ, 3x DR reset, and over 30 wins in the past week.

I’ve been dong Race C exclusively this week, made it to SR S, been racing SR S the last 3days. The racing is much cleaner here in AsiaPac region. I was starting from the back without qualifying, making up an average of 7-8 places most of the time. Made up SR quickly, but lousy DR gain because I’m rated DR B in a field of Cs. Then I tried qualifying yesterday, could only manage to start between 8th-12th, and it all went downhill from there. Started to get punted off, finishing last or 2nd last. Maintained SR 98-99, but lost DR, now on the brink of DR C :irked: Got penalties I didn’t deserve for staying on track when punted. Sigh.

I think I’ve figured Sport Mode out. SR points are a bank, which you “spend” when you wanna take risks in overtaking to build DR. Without SR, you’re stuck with dirty drivers without much chance of a clean, fair fight where you give each other room. When you’ve saved up some SR, you can “spend” it on moves you otherwise wouldn’t do, to risk gaining positions and earn DR. When you’re bankrupt in SR, you start from the back without qualifying, and save up again. Rinse and repeat.

Either way, I still manage to have fun :gtpflag:
This is my plan for next week, always starting midfield and never make it through the first two turns without either dropping to the back or getting penalties. I'm new to the game so haven't really witnessed clean racing yet and my priority is to increase SR first then I'll see what I can do about DR

Final results after this week, with dozens of races at Blue Moon Bay (and dozens of wins too):

That sharp increase in DR at the end is due to BMB, and thanks to those races, I'm almost back to where I was before the tire model update (the previous dip in DR was right after the tire model update).

You should try starting from the back without qualifying and work your way through to see how many places you can make up. Worked for me to build SR. Of course, I did practice hotlapping in Time Trials, but I didn't set a lap in Sport Mode qualifying. You also feel less pressure and lose less DR, because you're always gaining places instead of losing them. Credit to @Sven Jurgens for giving me the idea to try this. I started having a lot more fun the less I cared about DR. I'd rather keep SR up and have clean, fair fights for position, whether it's for a podium, or having a scrap in the midfield or at the back. That's what keeps me going.

I did one more Race C at Maggiore before the new week's races. I was in the Cayman. On lap 6, the Viper who was on pole came out of the pits right behind me on fresh tyres. I was in 2nd place on worn tyres, hadn't pitted, trying to stretch one more lap before pitting. At the S turns, he was right on my bumper and tapped me.

I managed to keep it together, and there was no way I could have stayed ahead on worn tyres. I was gonna let him past on the upcoming straight. Right after he bumped me, he went off onto the grass on the left sweeper right before the straight. I stayed on the tarmac.

For my trouble, I got rewarded with a 3-second penalty :banghead:

PD really needs to sort out the blame assignment in the penalties. I've received so many penalties, just for keeping it together and staying on the tarmac when getting bumped from behind, or when I'm the last car in a train of collisions, but I manage to stay on track.

Oh well...bring on Tokyo!

Can’t wait to not do any races again this week! Weekly races wouldn’t be such a problem if the track/car combos were, you know...actually enjoyable.

What’s Race B? Bathurst Gr.4? Yeah, say goodbye to your SR again!

Had a good last night at Maggiore after the battles of children's hour yesterday afternoon.
My first race was clean and my sr recovered from 85 to 99 in one race.

I then ran another 3 or 4 races and ended up keeping my sr and gaining over 3500 Dr points.

Each race was a trophy fest but I started getting the hang of the gears in the Vantage, each time pitting after 4 laps. My last race I still had 3.5 laps of fuel in the pits top

I was really enjoying overtaking all the tropics on the main straight and also up the hill going up to the fast right handers before the finish

Unfortunately it all came to an end with a disconnection before race start on the next race, so I decided to call it quits while I was ahead.

Overall a good week when played at the right time. Having a week off sport races this coming week due to the choice of races. Back when the races improve

I had my first disconnect last night right at the end of my first race. I then couldn't connect so gave up :(

Glad you managed to get some good racing done before the changeover. Not going to be much racing for me this week looking at what's on offer.

Last night seemed particularly bad, one race C I was in had 11 players (peak time) and it took a reaaally long time after the countdown had finished to load the lobby.

I hadn't had this problem for a long time, then yesterday it just kept sending back to the main menu after matchmaking (waiting for other players to be ready message).

This was fun. The thing I like most about all three races, the atmosphere. Each ToD is different from the high noon races were mainly get.

Starting last. I like the car.

Really like this race. Started last. Stuck behind. Beetle for 4 laps to conserve. Pitted on lap 5 w/1.4laps in the tank. Held off a Peugeot that may have pushed too hard or didn't conserve enough.
I did get rammed at T1 by a Viper. Didn't ruin the fun though.

Good first race starting last. A Meagne FF dive bombs at T1. Should have waited for the straight. Anyway, had a cruisey battle versus a 458.

Qualified with a 15.044. Stares 4th. The lead GT-R messed up T1. This allowed the TT to get the lead and the 86in front of me, was all over the place. Smashing the walls way out of control. Bumps and bruises from T3 to Skyline.
Handed me 2nd into a fierce battle with the TT.
Last lap, it broke early for the elbow. I threw my car into the left side barrier, to avoid hitting it. Lost a bit of time. The Scirocco was only doing 255km/h in the draft. Weird, but good stuff.

I'll try the Atenza through the week.

Hmmm... racing against Dauble-Weapon, @Lion-Face, and @Rangeraus there ;)

That always seems to happen to me if I earn a Daily Workout car but keep trying to do Sport Mode without backing out to claim it*; certainly once it happens once I've found you have to reboot the game to be sure it won't happen again the next time.

*Just speculation but it would make sense with where it keeps getting stuck; it's as you transition from "the matchmaking cloud" to the lobby - you'll notice the *online save* in the bottom right - so it'll be checking stats game side & server side when it does this and I guess the server thinks you have more cars than the game, perhaps, and it just catches the exception and dumps you out to save the lobby (probably part of a fix for some previous race start funkiness).

Mégane Trophy time!

16:30 Room, qualified 5th, finished 4th without stopping. I ended up regretted not to give up the position to an NSX that was killed during Lap 1...as proven by a guy who called me a punter... Then, there is @Lion-Face in an 86 starting on pole, and he led the race until the final lap on the banked hairpin as he was passed by miraclenovember in one of the Mégane Trophies, to which prevented a GTP victory... I'm still wondering myself if I am a good driver, a sloppy driver, or a bit of a monster?

I lost the lead on 2nd last lap. I had good battles holding off two meganes until one got past. He then proceeded to block me badly on the straight, almost tempted to do a short youtube clip on what to do, and what not to do when battling on track. If he hadn't pushed me into the wall on the straight, I should have had the win.

Last one for the night. That OyVey"ron got out of shape ahead of me. Also, the Scirocco was making me lose momentum by hitting the walls. No luck for the Bathurst 12H Class C winner.

You could be right as I'd run some qually laps before racing and probably covered my mileage for the gift car. I never backed out to reclaim it until I gave up trying to matchmake and made a livery instead.

I'll keep this in mind next time. Thanks

I noticed that too. Last week after 2 races when the daily workout completed, the 3rd race booted me back to the race select screen, every day. Restart ps4, claim car and it works again. However even after claiming the car, a third race still often booted me back to the race select screen. Restarting the ps4 after every 2 races has been fool proof so far. It's a pita.

I forgot how punitive the penalty system is at Tokyo. Any mistake almost guarantees a 5s penalty.

Don't avoid other cars by risking a wall hit.... It's less costly to hit them :/ Hit them first then the wall and they'll likely get the penalty :ouch: I saw people finish with up to +31 sec at BMB last week, I wonder if Tokyo can beat that!

No races tonight for me. Was waiting for the midnight run and fell asleep watching anime. Too sleepy to race, but I did some qualifying laps with the Veyron, Viper and NSX. Was able to beat my personal best Viper time, but none of the others since the tyre model update. I was having a hard time getting round Forrest Elbow with the Veyron and the braking point for The Chase is much earlier than the other cars. Kept ending up mowing the lawn  . I'll start with the Viper tomorrow night I think :dopey:.

Great racing in this one from a nights back, slow pace given we were always battling but damn, we gave each other space.

Great battle with the lambo, especially after the pit stop. The winner was fuel saving so you never see him but great actual racing with just one dirty move from the Argie (what a shock) on the Lancer.

I wonder if just backing out of Sport Mode back to the main menu (to trigger that online save) would do the job, rather than the full restart? Might be worth a try, see if that's enough to prevent it.
I'll try it next time I'm on, and see if I get stuck again if I play late at night into the morning (seems to be when it happens for me).

I know it's a time thing but Bathurst really needs to be four laps, 3 is just gonna be mayhem.

And you 100% can pass there, just need to get your exits right. Turn 2 is the best spot, and at the end of the chase is an obvious one too given it's hard to get a good exit at the elbow in this game.

No passing between 2 and the elbow though, just gonna be mayhem if you try that.

Agreed! The problem is that everyone else on the track may not necessarily agree.

Wow none of the B and C track inspire me at all. This sucks greatly.
Agreed! Simple observation is that tracks with walls and no run off mean you get run off into walls. Tokyo is an absolute no go for me. Bathurst is a super track. I may go the no qualifying route and pick up places as others fall off the track but not sure my hard earned SR/S wants to suffer the sharp end of that race.

I must say, Maggiorrie's flowing nature was great last week. Unfortunately a busy RL meant I only got about 5 or 6 races in but they were all fun with some very engaging battles. Even if you came across someone who was not necessarily the most considerate the track was wide enough to avoid most trouble.

Race B, first pole, gave up 1st to avoid carnage up the hill, was on their tail on Conrod but didn't quite turn enough and ended up leaving the circuit for a play in the sandpit. Final lap, holding on to 4th while the Italian GT-R driver in front was obsessed with swerve/blocking me and then planting himself in a wall immediately after. They were all over the place trying to protect 3rd while making mistakes, and I got past after the final corner while they simultaneously slowed to scrub penalties whilst trying to ram me off again. All in all a good 1st race after a nice practice stint.
