It's been a while but since it's free multiplayer weekend, that means once more I get to do Sport Mode for the weekend. :)

Thanks for the heads-up. That's going to be interesting.

Driving has been very clean on the Nordschleife since I qualified on Wednesday. Starting in the top is more like hot lapping than racing though. For once qualify times are pretty spot on to performance on track and the field at the top simply spreads out after people lose the weak slipstream effect on each other. Not many mistakes are made at the top. Despite racing with a 7:44 qualify time, the best I seem to do in race is 8::10. The timer starts in a different place of course, yet why does the best lap time not count from start to finish.

I did have some very close races at the top next to the driving alone ones. Either getting chased or doing the chasing with some side by side action, conceding when it's safer to do so. You lose so much time crashing at the high speed sections that most people are smart enough to wait for a better opportunity. Passing at the straight always works and I haven't seen a dirty blocker in a long time. SR.S is definitely cleaner at the Nord.

That's for the top of the field though. Driving from the back the first 2.5 days was chaos. And in one race I got bumped off at the start by the car behind me getting punted into me. Dropping to 8th it was still bad. I made it back to 3rd yet I got tapped so many times from behind by impatient drivers (while I'm right behind traffic) that I lost 12 SR for that race. That was the only red rating since Wednesday, yet it took 3 races to restore to 99. This tap from behind is -2 SR needs to stop. How hard is it for the game to realize you are in traffic or going at full speed.

I use the Megane Grp4, it is very quick off the start and you can usually make up three or 4 places on breaking into turn 1 had two 3rd places in a row this morning and had a win on Monday.
I tried it, but just didn't like the torque steer on TCS:0.
Ran the Huracan one race and it's pretty good. Just tried the Atenza in a race with clowndes. It actually reeled in the Huracan and I passed it on the straight.
Was going good with fair passing back and forth, but this 4C was being cheeky with tapping me wide in the 130R.

Last lap being sandwiched between to Huracans, the one ahead of me lost grip. I hit the brakes. The Huracan behind didn't take advantage and I t-boned the spinning one, as it ghosted.
Crossed the line with 6.000 second penalty. Come now...

It is strange, but one thing that is guaranteed is that the winner will always get fastest lap too!

Looks like a week off for me next week. We wait all this time for Yamagiwa and then we get it in reverse! !

I think the folks at PD just want less folks playing so the random disconnects during races will cease? (Sarcasm). Loved getting disconnected in the FIA race on Wednesday 2 laps from the end and being unable to enter another.

Indeed. The further back you start, the longer your first lap is, which makes the best lap pretty pointless for lap 1. It's not always fastest lap for the winner. Penalties don't count towards the best lap and you can win while crossing the line second due to first having penalties left. The one who crosses first gets the fastest lap.

Ahem. :D

You don't want to see them. For Race A at least
I actually stopped to race there due a theory: To many better qualy times then mine(which is not bad) there, no problem, but in race pace usually I'm way better, so I think, this guys are slower but starting way in front.. no way I'm going to make a qualy lap using that weird 'procedure', its like cheating.

Focus on one car and track. Yamagiwa reverse next week might have a bit more level playing field. Keep racing, focus on being smooth and anticipate instead of react. Always look where you want to go, it's such a cliche, yet it works. Never look at what you want to avoid as you will hit it! Even thinking about avoiding something makes me hit it lol.

Will do.

Next week does seem a nicer selection of tracks (bar the crazy Race C :)) so I will focus I suspect on Race B and see how my DR does from
there.

This weeks Race C is perfect to collect some DR points. 👍
Lobbys are stronger than the last weeks and Fuji is great for driving the GR.2 cars.
So i took the Nissan Motul GT-R and went out to hunt down some aliens. :D

What is this procedure you speak of

Nurburgring was the race I meant.
Oh, it's true. Just having a laugh. ;)

Edit:

Atenza is a sleeper. Did not expect its top end speed. Was able to pull a TT side by side and reel in the Megane down the straight. Thought they'd walk away from me. No contest in the corners, with awd grip.

Fuji is a farce. I did Race A probably a dozen times yesterday and NOT ONCE did I win. Even in the Audi TT. The track is pathetic for overtaking as there's only one line through most of the corners, and if you don't follow that line, you lose a heap of time. Turn 5 is a great example, so to the last sector of the track. If you pull a dive there, your line is compromised. The penalties are horribly inconsistent - Exhibit A: I go over the ripple strip on the last corner and put the car on the astroturf. 0.850 second penalty. A Malaysian in a Nissan drives AROUND me on the tarmac run off an guess what? No penalty. Biggest joke ever. Track limits MUST BE FIXED so idiots are not able to get away with this questionable driving. I am soo pissed off.

That last race I posted, I was being escorted off the track, more than a few times. Without the HUD, I didn't know if I had any penalties. To the finish, the TT behind in 3rd, slowed to serve its penalties. I out dragged a Megane and GT-R and hit the brakes just to be sure. No penalty.

Is a great track to overtake out of corners and on the straight, obviously. If you can't even overtake on the straight at Fuji, you won't overtake anywhere else.

You can overtake at least on the straight; after T1 with a better exit; through the long right hander if you have a better exit out of T2; after T4 if you have a better exit; before T5 if you grab the inside line (and keep it until the next off camber right hander).

For next week's races, I'm curious to see which car we'll be driving in race C. If it's something bad (i3 for example) I'll try Race B. Does anyone know if Race B will have rolling start? I hope so. Because I've tried a couple laps in custom race and noticed that if you start on pole, you'll be screwed through T1 because it's the outside line. The only way to avoid losing 1 or more places is to nail the start and defend the inside right away. With some cars that will be impossible, so be warned.

I haven't played sport mode this week at all. Race C sucks was a nice combo, but I went back to Dark Souls 3, to practice no hit runs because why not. :D

Race C is 17 laps, 73.5 km race length. which needs to be run in about 20 minutes. That's an average of 220 kph. So it's either an F1 car or Red bull senior.

I haven't touched Fuji, I can't while The Nordschleife is on. The weekly changes should at least be staggered!

Makes sense. Where do we see the number of laps and all the other info for upcoming daily races?

Racing Hards and Slipstream on Weak suggests to me X2014, probably trying to replicate the World Tour Nations Final considering how well received it was. Wonder if they will also set it up with minimum downforce, that's what made it so good and not stupidly fast in the corners.

It’s incredible how your SR can be tanked in three races because of how sensitive the penalty system is. My rating went from an S to a B with one race at the Nurb and two at Fuji. Does PD really hate good hard racing this much? A small touch on the side or from behind should not be a penalty, especially when a big hit in the same spots results in no penalty at all. I’ve been hit repeatedly from behind tonight and it has not only resulted in no penalty to the offending driver, but in some instances it has given a penalty to me. Likewise, I was given penalties because of small sideswipes coming out of turns because of a good hard fought battle between myself and someone else who was driving hard but clean. We both had penalties at the end because, apparently, hard racing is frowned upon and every small touch is an atrocity. Meanwhile, someone passed me on the Nurb tonight by not breaking at a turn and ghosting right through me.

I love the idea of a penalty system in theory because I love clean racing, and I think this current system has made for a better atmosphere overall. But the way this system was implemented has been awful. It’s like the game itself doesn’t even know what it wants and doesn’t want to be a penalty. It seems entirely random and subjective. I keep coming back to the daily races because I love some of the track and car combos, but stuff like this really hurts my drive to do it regularly.

One of the best races I've had since buying the game. Nose to tail fair racing, from the green flag.

The GR4 Atenza is my absolute go to car in GT Sport, but on Fuji Race A, I just don't 'feel it". The car just craps out on me, every single race.

For ***** and giggles, I went to the Peugeot RCZ, and man does it feels so much better on Fuji than my beloved Atenza. I don't know whether to laugh or cry!

It is ridiculus. Fuji track limits are 🤬. I did my qualify lap in 1:42.8xx in a Huracan. I was very happy with that. Finally a lap with a clean first and last corner. So I went to the leaderboard. 1:39.xxx. Huh?. Then I watched replays of others qualifing laps. Every single one of them cheated by taking the outside line over the runoff area at turn 10 and the last corner. Yeah so it becomes impossible to get pole for clean drivers.

Yeah, I found the RCZ to be s problem. I use the Mustang. However, I've been getting fastest laps with the Atenza. Also, making up time from a mistake or slowing to avoid contact, etc. It's gotten me back into the heat of the battles. Really stable car... and fast.
Got a 7 second penalty. Don't know how, but dropped me down the order.

Erm... why is this a surprise to you? I seem to recall you campaigning the Atenza before, and posting your finishing positions in a bazillion different liveries :p.

:D:lol:For a time, I was running the NSX as well. Was able to get it hooked up and be competitive. The Atenza was good at Nurb GP, but Those FF cars were eating up everyone for lunch. Now, it doesn't appear that way. I think some cars got nerfed, but can't recall by how much.
I'm really surprised by the straightline speed of the thing.

Well just finished work and time for me to hammer race B all weekend before next weeks break, the new races look absolute gash to me personally.
I really want to try race A and C but i refuse to race on any track without proper limits, the last time i went from A/S to D/E purely through shortcutters re joining the track into the side of me at Red Bull Ring. And im finally back up there lol.

5 Wins and 8 podiums round the ring so far, should be up around 38000 DR score by now but admittedly i rushed into racing on Monday, spent 6 raves getting rammed off in the mid field and got a bit mardy and petulant causing me to drop down to 27,000 until i sorted my head out and qualified.
