Race C was DR/B city, and I was feeling very nervous with 4 in front and another two behind, with the rest scattered. The race starts and Hell Corner was ok, but I think I received a love tap. By the time I hit Conrod I was in P3. I stayed there with a 7s lead on lap 5 and just as I was headed towards Murrys *BOOM*! Friggin disconnect :banghead:. My DR dropped 865, and SR dropped 10. Not.....happy!

Daaaaaaaaaammmmmn that sucks. P3, after the stop, looking good and boom.

oh I've been there too. One time I was approaching A+, I think I was at 48-49k DR....2 disconnects in a row, followed by a bad race where I got punted and couldn't gain it back. Each disconnect cost me 1500, and finishing in the bottom half lost me another 1000. 4000 DR lost in like one hour. And winning races at that level doesn't usually yield very many points unless it's an FIA race, and these weren't. So it took quite awhile to grind back those points when podiums and even wins only get you a few hundred each time.

Oh i can feel that pain man! win a race, as a high A/S, gain 90dr points. come 6th, lose 800dr points (rough example). LOL! basically at this dr range you have to win them all or podium to stay above losing dr points. lately i try and get a qualy time within 2 seconds of the top time then after at least 30 laps practice ill enter a race. even then im sweaty palms and hoping others make mistakes and that i dont make any. its becoming less fun in some ways, and in other ways more stressfull. Maybe once i (if i ever) hit a+, i'll take a chill pill and not care about my dr rating like svenno j and just have fun racing real people instead of offline AI that jams the brakes mid corner

Last race in the Mustang. For the first time, I didn't feel as quick after using the RCF and NSX. TT was getting better drive out of corners and I couldn't maximise the Mustang's braking and turn in to my advantage.

I feel the RCF will be choice this week.

When there is standing a car as ghost and you want to drive through him but at that moment he become back normal :ouch: 5 secondoooos PENALTY :ouch: because I gave him a little kiss of loooove .
Risky business passing that ghost car .
DR down and SR down whoooopeieieieieieie:boggled:
Edit ; in fact the rest of the race was pretty down to the ground than .

My 1st laps on Bathurst in Gr.3 since the new tire model. ...Man, it feels like they 'oiled' the circuit, i mean, once you go a bit off racing line, you slide as ...well...vaseline in a #####. Took the 'Stang' out first 4 some hot lapping, damm...is it really that long ago??? Could only do a 05.9. Then, took the RSR, a 05.3, then the RC F, a 05.0. Then i took the car wich i didn't want to drive, a 04.7. ...Hard times, but still gonna to try the AMG, GT LM, Supra & the FT1. Oh, and the WRX and Lancer.

The track that doesn't feel like ice cream with a lot of slagroom on it driving is Tokyo Expressway Outer loop at least on this track there is some kind of contact with the road I think and I hoop they don't make a ice cream track of it in the next update .

Wow Bathurst and matchmaking, really..
Got into room of 17 with dr A-D and sr S-C.
Why does it sometimes match 11 cars with about same ratings and why 20 with shishkebab of ratings, I don't get it:confused:

It resulted in me being punted off and blocked literally everywhere, one guy I took over twice, I make it from 11th you 3rd and he chases me to take me out, 3 times!

Then he slows down on the Chase to scrub off 5s, I try to pass him, he side swipes me and I get sr down:lol:

Finished 7th in the end, the track is definitely one of my few favourites, real and technical, but the racecraft is always so poor, no matter what levels I race.

Really, don't try overtakes on esses down the mountain, it's dangerous and silly.

/rant :D

It depends on how many players have registered for the race in that time slot. The fewer players, the greater variation.

Avoid the hours between kids getting home from school and having to go to bed in your timezone. Look for lobbies when adults are awake but kids are asleep in other areas of the world in the Online Lobby (check the flag of the host).

In a word, avoid the kiddyzone!

I managed to go from 16th to 9th on Daily C but wow i think i have to find myself a little break. Not upset but i can see i'm returning to the old habits of constant oversteering. Unless it's the track itself but i personally think it's just me driving bad (after all i can barely get 2:06 against 2:03)

Bathurst just royally screwed me over, from 99 to 67 SR in one race.

It wasn't my first race today, the others went fine avoiding the mess while racing from the back without qualifying, finishing 5th and one time 2nd. This last one however started with the autodrive start screwing up. 2 cars a little in front of me stalled, cars all bunched up except the ones in the very back that didn't brake of course. Result, huge mega pinball party at T minus 1. For some reason the game decides it's all my fault and I get a 5 sec penalty as the only one of the 8 cars involved... I'm turned around in the dirt, wait for the yellow flag to go away and serve the 5 seconds to start the race dead last.

I wanted to drive carefully for the rest of the race to mitigate the SR damage from the pinball start. However matchmaking made sure that wasn't going to happen. There were more red and yellow connections than green and the mix was A to D with plenty people that didn't know the track at all. Thus not even half a lap in I was passing wrecks already. Driving between messy drivers is very dangerous so I pass the laggy car ahead on Conrad straight. He's making it difficult of course, wants me on the inside then squeezes me while I'm ahead so I don't have much room for the slight right bend. He forces me to touch grass, my car wobbles a bit and as he's right beside me he gets the bad end of it, which means another 3 sec penalty for me.

Next lap at the cutting, the next car in front of me apparently expects a U-Turn and practically puts the car in park. I can't avoid, bump him slightly while braking, get bumped by the car behind me, nobody goes off yet another SR Down. He crashes two corners later, another hazard left behind. Then two cars crash into each other in the esses. I brake in time and avoid, or so I think, another 2 sec and SR Down. I never even touched them... So much lag every where.

I'm finally ahead of the destruction derby back field and have room to actually drive the car now. That wasn't the end of it though. I'm coming up on a 1 bar connection. He's jumping all over and I'm afraid the unruly back is going to close in again if I stay behind him. I have a good run on him on the Conrad straight. I'm fully alongside halfway down the straight on the outside and he casually moves over to the left to push me completely onto the grass. His car does not seem to be affected at all from the contact, like a train pushing me aside. I can't brake on the grass, slowly lose speed, try to get back on the road, still end up hitting him which again does not affect his car at all. Like I don't exist. I hear the collision noise, get SR Down and end up in the sand. He drives on as if nothing ever happened.

Later I see his car doing the exact same thing to another car. Perhaps it's that bug where he is driving the race by himself not seeing anyone while his car is still in the race pushing other cars out of the way. I ask him after the race if he's blind or dirty. No response.

One laggy race, -32 SR. Good job PD! Keep up the good work. Let's see how SR.A is at Bathurst.

Been racing on race B today - managed to improve my DR rating by over 6000 points today and finally got back into DR A after my major DR reset two weeks ago.
Races have been on the whole fairly clean, so a good days racing :D:D

Same here. One race was ruined by an idiot divebombing and running people off track. After that though, it's been great clean racing. I'm pleasantly suprised :D I'm teetering on the brink of going up to DR:A+ :nervous:

Bagged a few poles as well which is always nice.

Edit: The last race of the evening ended in victory, by 0.040 of a second.

U have the replay?

U have the replay?

I do indeed. I'll pop it on YT and post the link.

Edit: @NevilleNobody Here you go. I've edited it to just the last lap. The replay didn't show the split times but I slow motioned it over the line.

Big props to the person I was fighting with. Clean and great racecraft. We raced a few times tonight and he/she are quick!

SR back to 99, tip toeing around all the crash sites. I made it to 4th one race with the clean race bonus as everyone had the decency to ghost in time while crashing. Now I can confirm that race C is worth a maximum of 15 SR this week. Driving in SR.A on Monday in Bathurst without qualifying, not sure whether I should laugh or cry at all the stuff I witnessed. It was certainly entertaining and made me appreciate the relative calm of SR.99 racing a lot more afterwards.

Btw I had a bugged start. My car would not move, the other non qualifiers all passed me and I got a standing start when the counter ran down, 7 sec behind the pack. My connection was perfectly fine, still so buggy after a year. I don't mind starting dead last, yet I would appreciate getting credited for passing the rest as well :)

And down to 82 again from some idiot using me as his brake at every opportunity while I'm in traffic. Add a car crashing in front of me for 3 sec penalty (while he was already ghosted on my screen), and someone trying a stupid pass at the start of the esses, bouncing off the wall, knocking me into a shortcut for a 2 sec penalty. Which is quite weird as I bypassed the esses when he knocked me into the straight part. The game didn't give me any shortcut penalty (usually at least 6 sec if you bypass the esses) which means I was not to blame for getting knocked off road, but it still gave me 2 sec penalty for the other car coming off the wall hitting me.

Time for a break, fix SR again later. The real avoidance simulator.

It took a bit longer to get from 82 back to 99 as the first attempt dropped me to SR.A. I have no idea what the logic is behind getting a penalty from a car hitting a wall and bouncing into you. I guess the same logic that gives you SR Down when someone hits you from behind.

Oh well it was educational again driving in SR.A with DR.A to DR.D. Plus it gave me a couple fastest laps and a win! 16 places gained in a messy field, fun race.

Instead of showing a bunch of broken penalties, my favorite pass of the night.

I've also experienced similar things yesterday. Shortly after the start I was rammed in turn 2 and was then last. On my way forward, I passed many drivers who apparently did not know the route. For the resulting contacts there was massive SR deduction.
I do not understand that. Why are these drivers driving the race if they do not know the track? Some had no qualifying time and others were 10 to 20 seconds slower than me. Why do I have to drive with drivers like this at all? I'm not the fastest but at least B/S.
It would be reasonably OK if they were at least fair. But no, they are blocking and if you then overtook them it is rammed in the next turn. That makes no sense if you are so much slower and do not know the route. For a hard and fair fight you should know the route and the limits of the cars. In addition, you should have about the same speed as the other driver. If this is not the case, it makes no sense to fight bitterly or to try to overtake extremely aggressively.
They probably want to experience thrilling races but are too slow, too inconsistent and probably frustrated because of the bad placement. Training and getting to know the track would help. But that's probably too boring for them.

I've been racing the Minis this week and it's a lot of fun (once you get out of T1/T2 intact). I'm not a very accomplished driver, but I do OK in this race and have managed to get back to B/B after donating all my points to the "Nissan 300ZX Benevolent Fund" last week.

Also, because most drivers are (I think) racing with all aids off, it turns out to be quite educational, as I am getting a much better idea of where micro-seconds are gained and lost etc.

Have PD flipped the brake bias settings? I just set the brakes to rear bias in race B and the Huracan understeered under braking. As soon as I set it to the front it was extremely responsive and twitchy on the brakes. What's going on?

If only more people were playing the server could use a lot more criteria to match people. When there's SR.S to SR.B in the room with all DR levels, there's not much you can do but hope some people that know the track are on. I often start the race with 2:12 to 2:08 laps until the pit stuck behind traffic to finish with 2:05 laps once I got out of the mess. The difference in skill is enormous which makes driving without qualifying a unique challenge at Bathurst. (quite fun though, better than starting on pole and never seeing anyone)

If there were more people to match with the system should look at your experience. I have completed over 2800 laps on Mount Panorama since release. It's my most raced track at 430 races currently. At least most people that don't know the track get stuck against a wall and are easily passed. Ghosting has also gotten better.

I know the track very well indeed ....... perhaps not the grey bit in the middle, but every blade of grass, every wall, every sand trap etc. !!

I tried the Corvette last night and qualied with a 2.07.3 but it's useless in the race as it runs out of fuel after 4 laps. Jumped in the Merc, just raced no qualy but turned a 2.07.2 so surely have a low to mid 6 in me for qualification.

I lose time at the cutting pretty badly, i'd say a full 0.7-1.0 seconds to A drivers through that double left.

I refuse to use the Beetle or other fake GT3 cars.

So good to be on a proper race track.

... But this games model of the Corvette is a fake GT3 car?

I've also experienced that. Don't know annymore wich track it was. I had the same with the Gr. 4 Veyron, i allways putted it o 2-5 rear bias, then a few months ago, BMB Infield i believe, it just didn't work. So, i put on 1-4 front, and i was flying! So now if i drive the 4WD Gr.4 cars, i allways start with a high front bias.

I know what you mean about the beetle! Btw, what other Gr.3 cars are 'fake' to you?

The cutting is one my favorite corners as it's very easy to pass people there early on :)

The trick is to lift for the first left and start braking right after, don't go too far wide before taking the corner almost against the inside wall while accelerating. Slow in fast out works best there.

I also always make up a lot of time at the esses. You have to be careful there starting at the back as a lot of people brake way too much for the first part. It's the most satisfying sequence of corners in the game to get right. Don't power slide, some people look like they are trying to earn Kudos through that section but that only slows you down.

The Corvette is fun on that track but you need to run in fuel map 2 over the mountain to get 5 laps out of it. Then you lose positions in the pit. I'm sticking to the Lexus. I can drive that flat out (AT) and have 14% fuel left after 5 laps. Fill up to 71% and make it to the finish.

The Merc is a good car there as well, a bit more stable than the Lexus, yet uses a bit more fuel.

One of the top 10 guys took the Corvette to a win last night, 20 seconds ahead of p2 (40 secs ahead of me!). He pitted on lap 5 - does shortshifting in this car still work for fuel saving?

Other than that race, all the other wins I have seen have been in the Beetle.....

Well, it's been a night of highs and lows. First race, Bathurst. I broke one of my rules, and now I feel soiled :yuck:. See if you can spot any Australians in this grid lineup:

Gran Turismo™SPORT_20181016230250.jpg

It was a pretty exciting race, and I kinda felt out of place. I did see some orange SRs, but thankfully I still finished with a blue rating 👍. I bumped the guy who started P3, but I don't recall running him off the track. A bit later he grazed a wall and I got ahead of him for a while, but there are places I am way too cautious. Eventually he came from behind on a corner on the outside (don't remember which one). The only way I could get round without knocking him off was to slow right down and let him get the power down on the exit before me, then slip in behind :scared:.

I pitted lap 5, ahead of the guy I'd been battling... he messed up the chicane at pit entry and hit the wall. Came out P7, but that changed to P4 eventually. The guy who hit the wall was faster than me and was gradually reeling me in. On the final lap I picked up a penalty and he was 2s behind, and my penalty was just over 1s. I slowed to burn off the penalty and he crossed the line about 1/2 a car ahead. P5 for me. Sadly I accidentally deleted the screenshot instead of transferring to usb :dunce:.

SR went up 2, DR went up about 700. SR could be better, but not a bad result :dopey:. I screwed it up next race chasing the dragon :banghead:. Lost 6 SR and about 100 DR.

Another day above DR 1 .
