DT reverse is fun- I like it better than "normal". Struggling a bit for pace though- 1:51's in just about every car I try. Vette seems most stable, so I'll be in tonight...

Try the Lexus if you want more speed with less understeer. I think it's the best FR car for that track (assuming you want to avoid the FF's).

I'm about to pop my cherry in races where I have to pit tonight. Any pointers or tips on choosing tires ect?

Thanks!

You'll have enough fuel in this race to make half or more of the laps (9 , so 5 or so)
but if you want to try and fuel save to gain a small advantage in the pits, I recommend going to fuel map 2 or 3 from the top of the hill down to conrod then back to 1 and maybe again for the high speed corner at the end of it.
you cant change tire type but when you do swap them, whatever you do... DO NOT double tap x when you select your tires. You will select your tires and then select no refuel by accident. Then you will proceed to rip the hair out of your scalp once you realize not only did you throw this race away, you just wasted 30 minutes of your day.

I don't think you have a choice of tyres, hards only. The real best piece of advice is practice the pit entry a couple of times in qualifying. The chicane on the pit entry road catches many people out, and if you hit the wall next to the pit entry road, you get re-spawned on the start finish line. If you don't have enough fuel for a lap when that happens... it's a very loooong lap at 80kph ;).

It is. Love that thing. I did match my exact time(1:51.111), using the M4. As Invisigoth pointed out, I'm getting a bit rear slide in a couple of cars while braking, but not the RC F.

Fun day again at Bathurst. I got a couple podiums, 2nd place finish, no win today though, I did finally manage to start 20th!!! Everyone made it into the room. A miracle. It was a very fast room so I 'only' made it to 8th. Fun race with some great battles along the way.

Some moments from today:

One of those just being near an accident will get you a penalty.

Passing a Ford

Those things accelerate too fast, I was beside him after the cutting yet he simply sped up again.
They don't brake or turn that well though.

No walls touched!

SR stable at 99, DR actually went up 1300 points today to 46K. Playing GT League in sport mode is lots of fun.

Up to a point. Once you start having mixed DRs , all bets are off. You would have to wade through posts from the past for a better explanation, but there is also an alphabetised component as well. I've had a door number of 1 with only 1 DR point, and DR/A and B drivers on the grid :).
Exactly, that's what happened to me too.

Good (and short) last nigh.
Did one Race B, mostly Aud TT. P3 on the grid and P2 finish.

Then two RaceC with a bad qualy time. Started P8 and P10 and finished P2 and P3
My strategy was saving fuel and try to pit as later as possible. This way I went from P5 to P2 in the first race and from P7 to P1 after the pit.

In both races the strategy was perfect and pit entry on the limit. My pace was similar to the 2/3 guys in front who pitted on lap 5 (I did on lap 7). So saving fuel works better in my opinion.

My target for tonight will be doing a good qualy lap and try to start in front.

That strategy only works if you can also preserve your tires. I can generally get pretty far on a tank just by short shifting, but the handling becomes unmanageable from tyre wear.

Obviously, it requires smooth driving.

I'm about to do a few B races, Then do the Bathurst thing a bit later, let's hope I don't get a repeat of This > #19957 , I can't take yet further drops in SR/DR

Great night last night at bathurst, found some proper pace in quality, less heavy braking and more mid corner speed, got my qualy time down to a 2.06.3 but optimum was 2.05.03 so still inconsistent.

This nabbed me a few poles, finished 2nd and 1st then the matching bot decided it had enough of my shenanigans and dumped me in p8 against a bunch of A guys. Raced well and finished 4th but just did not have their pace, only the 7th on the fastest lap list.

Weirdly though all three races were quite lonely, guys either cleared off or I left them for dead.

But gained 1800 Dr points and Sr went from 40 to 89.

I'm struggling to find much time this week.

Managed an hour last night. PS Network was down for 20 mins. When it cam back on, I started 9th at Bathhurst. Cleanly got past a porsche who went wide at turn 1, and cleanly past three more who were banging doors with each other and ghosting through the twisty stuff. Hammering along the long straight feeling very pleased with myself in 4th, with a 1.5 sec gap to the person behind me. Braked absolutely spot on my usual marker for the left hander, just about to clip the apex perfectly - then BANG. Off into the kitty litter. The person behind must have forgotten to brake completely. Euphoria turned to anger and despair in a split second. I think it was a Beetle.

Re-emerge 12th. Finish 12th. And that was my evening game time over and done with. :irked:

I've been doing Race B only so far and have had a lot of fun and some good results, improving my DR by about 5000 in total and maintaining a 99 SR. This was until today! I had one race with a real mix of DR that ended up dropping my SR from 96 to 77. This really surprised me as there weren't that many incidents (although certainly a few). The next race I vowed to keep it 100% clean, ended up with two minor contacts that were not my fault in any way and my SR improved by just 2 points, so still SR A.

Is it me or is SR now easy to lose and difficult to get back? If so, I actually agree with this approach as it will make people with a high SR do everything they can to protect it avoiding any contact at all costs.

What I've learned from this though is that I need to improve my racecraft. I've got to a point where I can put together reasonable lap times, but need to be better at close racing situations. I often am the one to back out of potentially risky situations, but I guess it's also about judging what other drivers are going to do.

In my race today (with the two contacts) one of them was in the downhill esses. I got a much better run out of the hairpin and pulled alongside and marginally ahead of the car in front going into the esses side by side. This is obviously risky and as I was on an SR improvement race probably should have just given up the position, but I felt I was faster and that the track is plenty wide enough to go through side by side. I adjusted my speed and line to make sure the other car had space, but coming out of a corner he just drove straight into me as if I wasn't there. Fortunately we both stayed on the track so no penalties, but it was still frustrating and of course an orange SR arrow.

I suppose in that situation I need to KNOW the other driver can see me and/or is good enough to have the spatial awareness to leave me space. If that's not the case, make the assumption that there will be a collision, so leave it until a clean pass can be made.

Still need to give Race C a go but more practice is needed. I'm not particularly quick (2:07.1 in the Mustang) but more importantly don't think I can string 9 clean laps together yet!

I'll have some video of a race B from last night. 5-6 car battle, 3 wide in places, side by side through the chicane. All clean and very rewarding but you need eyes in the back of your head and you also need the other racers to be of the same mindset. Being predictable with your track position to others around you and vice versa, and trying to predict what others in front are going to do is a must. Also, use your HUD radar. Helps a lot with knowing where cars are around you.

The quality of racecraft and sportsmanship last night in race B was one of the best I have encountered.

Must say i had one guy who was mugged at T1 at Bathurst but his qualy time was a solid 1.5 seconds faster than me, predictably he caught me and to his credit he didn't push his way past, i held him off for two laps but could his agitation as he was so much faster mid corner than i am but i always get good exits so am hard to pass. But kudos to the man.

I fiddled around with Race B yesterday. I started in 12 and moved up to 8th primarily from so many people flying off of the track. A lot of people seemed to have trouble setting up their exits on major turns (the bust stop chicane, losing tons of speed which was weird because that last esse before the finish line is pretty much like the Senna esse at Interlagos.

The dive bombing on the second hairpin was ridiculous too but at least the line is so wide that you usually end up leaving the bomber enough space to donkey the turn while you cleanly exit at a higher speed.

The reverse direction is growing on me even if it totally destroys the flow of the dragon esses to run them in reverse.

Yes, the quality of the other driver makes a huge difference. I have had races where I had great fights together with one or two drivers without touching each other. But unfortunately that is far too rare. Mostly they ram when overtaking from behind and then stab in the gap. Or they change rapidly the lines as soon as another driver is behind them. Especially the changes in the braking phase are dirty because then you can hardly prevent a touch. Magnussen or Verstappen in the F1 seem to be the role model. Following these drivers or even overtaking them is very difficult. Some then do braking tests when they realize that I'm not making mistakes and will not let up. At the latest then, penalties and SR deductions can hardly be avoided. After such an action, I usually do it slowly and keep distance. But maybe I have to perform self-justice with these drivers and just ram them off the track. Although this gives massive punishment but then they finally get something of their own medicine. But so far my SR rating was more important to me than revenge. Reporting something like that leads to nothing. I did that once when the driver in front of me made it slow to finish his time penalty. As soon as I was close enough he accelerated again and steered into my line. There was a collision, I got a time penalty and he slowed down again until his time penalty was gone and kept his place in the goal. In all these cases, I can not predict what these drivers will do. They drive intentionally unpredictable and dirty to have an advantage. I just have to live with that. I'm BS and even at SR S is sometimes very dirty driven. No racecraft in the world will help against such drivers. But then there are again the rare races where all drivers are fair and prudent. These races then compensate me for everything else.

Good evening and thank you for tuning in as once again we witness all the drama, of Mount Panorama! I tried qualifying with a few cars, but was having a tough time matching the time I set with the Fixed or Repaired Daily, Found on Rubbish Dumps Mustang :yuck:. I came close with my old friend, the Viper, but managed to squeak through with a better time with the NSX. That got me P8/16 on a grid with 5 DR/Ds, 3Cs and a whole lotta Bs.

Auto drive dumps me mid freakin corner on Murray's. I could see it was going to happen so I already had the stick across :scared:. Down towards Hell Corner we streak, and amazingly, no contact. I don't know what happened behind me, but everyone in front went through clean. I was able to hang in there fairly well. I was up to P3 at one stage on lap 6 when I pitted.

My tyres were shot and I lost a lot of time on lap 6. I was relived when I made it to the pits. I came out P5 and was feeling pretty happy, when I messed up the entrance to the esses which lead to me spinning out at the dipper. I was re-spawned back on the esses and got going again 2 positions down. I finished P7, so still not a bad result. There was not a single person who didn't have a red dot.

SR went up 8 (so SR/S... just), DR up 500ish. Whilst I am a bit miffed that I spun out, I'm happy that I gained SR. Another day above DR 1 :dopey:.

Try the Merc.

P7 and P8 are death as it's mid corner start time :nervous:

Why on earth do you go to lap 6? Always, always pit lap 4 or 5 or don't pit at all.

Daily Race B, 4:30 Room.
Car Used: Toyota 86 Gr.4

Qualified 2nd, finished 2nd. Winner is an Australian in a blue TT Cup. There is an L1 T1 incident between me and a green TT Cup, who is the same guy that used the Beetle back during the Yamagiwa II Race B in Gr.3 cars, where I got pushed off. No penalty for him due to laggy Australian internet. I decided to take revenge by lunging on the inside of him at T1 several laps later, causing me to get an SR Down warning due to contact. At the end though, I finished 2nd and got a blue S after that.

Daily Race C, 5:00 Room
Car Used: Ford GT LM Spec II Test Car

Gotten myself a pole position, due to the fact that the grid is a mixed bag, from B/S drivers to even a D/D driver, with I myself being the only A+/S driver. I ended up cruising myself to victory, despite smacking into several walls and having a sloppy race, and because of the mixed grid, the gap between me and 2nd is 14 seconds!

Had a race at Bathurst earlier. Missed the pit. Went round on mode 6 for a lap. Didn't finish last. A success all round.

Tried race C once last night and a few times today......I'm out. My skills just simply aren't there enough to even have fun on a track like that yet. Race B is fun. Even though this is my first day on the track and everyone seems to already have it wired, I really like the flow of it. I've been using my trusty corvette but I feel like I'm leaving some performance on the table. I bought a WRX a couple weeks ago and have been dissapointed with it thus far. And this track doesn't seem to suit it much better either. I finally got a Hurrican today as a workout gift and was very stoked to try it out seeing that its a very popular choice in Gr4. Its fast for sure, but I 'm still not consistent enough to do well with it. Any recomendations for a good GR4 car? I'm not opposed to buying a Gr 4 cheater car like the Gr3 beetle either!!! I need all the help I can get :D

Well, tried quay again in the Mustang. Dropped from a 51.111, to a 49.941. Starting 12th, in the race right now.

Edit: Couple of incidents, but I made it through. Moved up to 6th at the chequered flag.

Another good day at Bathurst. Such an addictive track.

I'm now so tuned to the Lexus on that track that switching TVs is tripping me up. I play on 1080p LCD in early evening and switch to the bigger 4K HDR set at night. The display lag must be different as it takes at least a full race or more to get dialed in again. It's hard to tell which has the lower display lag but it's definitely different. On the old 1080p set I at first tend to stop steering too soon, not fully completing the turn. While on the 4K set I tend to turn in too late. So I'm guessing the 4K HDR set has more lag. The 4K tv is tested at 34ms display lag for 4K HDR in game mode, just over 2 frames at 60fps, it makes a difference. However on the 4k HDR set I do manage to go sub 2:05 thanks to the bigger screen and better detail. I haven't gotten a 2:04.xxx lap yet on the 1080p set. Every ms and inch counts!

Racing was good today. Pretty clean over all. Plus I had some nice close races with @NosOsH on the track. Great driving with you! I get to race a lot of people along the way as I seem to finish 5th most often (from last). Mustangs are the hardest to pass. They can slow me down to 2:10 laps as they tend to swerve a lot in the mountain section and any decent exit onto the conrod straight will guarantee it out driving the Lexus. Unfortunately Mustangs are not as easy to out brake as the LM spec II. The AMG can be an obstacle as well but can still be draft passed. And of course blocking is always annoying, like dude, I just gained 7 sec on you in 1.5 laps, why are you blocking!

Some clips from today. One of my best pit entrances

Not really worth the risk, yet penalty free :)

Of course penalties still happen, watch out for Beetles and Mercs.

The penalty system hates people that drive in a straight line on a straight!

Always expect the expected.

SR.S racing!

Always keep an eye on the rear view mirror, or rather a corner of your eye. I end up sacrificing my intended line a lot to avoid getting a bump from behind. It's working. I ended the night with a clean race bonus with 93K for 5th place. SR 99, DR not moving from 44.5K.

@Sven Jurgens
Good to see you again on the mountain, as usual your pace is up there on this track. Surprising how quickly you go from last to right on my tail in only a couple laps.. and thats with me starting in a decent position and making up positions on the field myself!! I can hold you off it seems for a little bit but innevitably you make a it past, be it from a small mistake on my part, being slightly slowed by the cars in front or simply by your sheer pace. Its hard to compete, I havent had a chance to put in much time this week to get my qualify time down yet but ive hit low 205s in races and i think ive got a low 204 in the cards, or maybe even break 203 if i really put in the time. That would at least seperate me enough from you and leave me a few less speed impediments in front to slow me down...so that I might not have to worry about trying to hold you off haha...
