Why in qualifying times does the game allow players to accrue penalties, drain them before the line and have Number 1 spot EMEA!! (Race C)

This is a mockery. :irked::grumpy:

 Months later and this is still in, ridiculous. Obviously invalidating a lap (and the next lap if in the last sector) when you get a penalty is too much hard work. There was nothing wrong with the old system (in previous GT's), when hot-lapping, why they changed it I'll never understand.

I have to ask you guy's - honestly I can't get my qualify time below 1;09....... I see quite a few with low 1;07's and I tried and tried but can't get my time down. Tried all braking technics I can think of including trail-braking but no. Anyone?
Don't force the car smoothies is what's count with a bitty power on it otherwise the car rolls back back can be windy out there .
Its fun good luck .

I realise Suzuka is a wonderful race track but I cannot race on it, just impossible for me. It's got to be the track that punishes a controller the most, you are always in a corner, usually one with long arcs that need feathering. i can't do it.

Horrible week for me, i can't do Suzuka, despise Fuji and the 500 is just ... blurh.

I´ve never seen a Top 10 driver with A+ / S Rating, blocking and crashing like this after a good and clean race up to that moment. 🤬
It starts at lap 5 ( 9:30 min in the Video) and i don´t know what went wrong. Maybe he was so frustrated about the penalty that he wanted to destroy my race too.

It's been a mixed night for me tonight. First race up was with the Fiat. I started P8/10, and finished P8 (I was up to P6 at one stage!). Another clean race bonus and 3 SR points richer, but at the expense of 286 DR.

Second race for me was Race B. Suzuka isn't my favourite track, but I stand a better chance with Gr3 than one makes on just about any track. Last night I entered later than I should have, so only had a couple of qualifying laps. The upshot was a 2:15 qualifying time. Much as I would have liked to have a proper go with the Evo tonight, it's my policy not to race with the same car for more than one night of the weekly cycle :p. I entered without trying a number of cars, with the M3. It's not a slow car, but in my hands, awkward. Best I could manage was a 2:08. That got me P13/14 on a grid of my peers. Gaining SR has finally shown results!

The race starts by dumping me at the chicane. It was kinda crazy, and I found myself having to back off at most corners so I didn't have collisions. Qualifying and racing are radically different down my end of the scale. As much of a handful as the M3 was, I still seemed to be faster than those who qualified higher. I'm so used to getting rear ended at the esses it was a shock to find myself being the one who was avoiding rear ending people ! I finished P10. Was P8 at one stage, till I was hit by another car using me as a rail .

DR down another 400 (the down side to getting the whole grid the same DR as me is damage control is harder :yuck:). SR went up another 6 :dopey:.

Final race for the night, Suzuka again. Not happy with the M3, I had a go with the GTR. Managed a 2:05 and felt much more in control. That snagged me P4/14. Result!

I was doing well for 2 laps, up to P2. I got passed by P3 which knocked me off the track, but without me loosing much momentum. They got a penalty, which they chose to serve. I was so surprised as I passed them that I missed my braking point and ended up on the astro turf and almost into the concrete barriers at the chicane :banghead:. Some how I managed to get back onto the track with no short cut penalty, in P8 :scared:. From there it was just focusing on staying on the track and pushing where I could. I finished P5 with no penalties :).

I finish the day about 300 DR behind where I was last night, and back up to SR 99 :D. It's been a long slog recovering from SR 44 after the first Red Bull sr race . Another day above DR 1 :dopey:.

You know your losing DR points hand over fist when matchmaking hands you pole and the fields are getting weaker....
The Result?

I only did a couple qualy laps and one race A, but I noticed the biggest hindrance is that hill up the back straight. That car only has like 50 horsepower so if you don’t have enough momentum heading into that uphill straight, your speed can actually decrease if you’re not far enough into 5th gear by the time the hill starts. To do this, you need to focus on maintaining as much speed as possible through turns 1 & especially turn 2. If you can shift into 3rd gear before(ideally) or during turn 3, you should be able to get through 4th gear quicker as you’re going downhill and get into 5th gear well before the hill starts. If you have to short shift through 4th so be it, but ideally you’d rev out each gear for max torque and speed. So basically the entire lap you’re trying to set yourself up for good momentum through the straights.

Hope you don't mind the quote of your message but I thought I should update you on how my online stats are following my drop to DR D.

I've been on a week's holiday from work the past week and when I'm at home and gaming I tend to not have as much time to post as I should.

I followed your advice for the past two week's races.

Starting from DR D 1 point I picked Race B for the 8 - 14 October.

I managed to get a good qualifying time that put me in the top five positions for every race I entered, I forget the time now but I was able to race
25 races that week and give or take a few incidents I finished in the top five 14 times and I got one race win which improved my DR up to 5755 with
my SR points being 88.

Only did a handful of Race B last week so I currently sit at 6425 DR (C Rank) and 99 SR points.

So thank you for the suggestion about stick to one race.

I also finished career mode finally so the game is on the shelf for the moment until the next DLC as I'm busy over in The Witches Festival in
Elder Scrolls Online at the moment, I was planning to look at Race C this week so I might make time later on but enjoying ESO again for the
moment.

Watching that has severely wound me up. What a 🤬 clown. That should get him a flat out ban and nothing can excuse that behaviour. Did you report the scumbag?

I'm KPing his stats.

Edit: He's a trolling piece of ****. His DR and SR are all over the place. I may be angrier than you are  lol

So is my DR/SR but that is because am very inconsistent.
Just had a race with Zocker and the other guy I trundled in towards the back....
Such a tough grid, guess matchmakings taking the proverbial today.

If he is as fast as he looks, there is no way those DR and SR should dive like that unless he loses his cool. I can have rough races sometimes and I've lost SR, but you have to keep being a total idiot for it to keep falling like that with the rank he is.

That is intentional douchbaggery of the highest level. The driving standards on display in that video deserve a ban. This is high DR/SR racing, and I think this behaviour shouldn't be present at those ranks.

How Zocker kept his cool is commendable and IS behaviour of a classy high level driver.

Rant over, but I've had a bad day, and watching that has made me want to tip a pint of piss over his PS4 to be honest.

That's why I say the reporting system is broken. I get it when a person has a bad race and lashes out, only to later realize that not all of the contact was intentional. But this is totally egregious. If that playing isn't banned or at the least, put on the shelf for a month or so, then why indeed have a reporting system?

Keith.

Wow.. that is almost where I am but a few things here I need to try! Highly appreciate Winnie! :)

It looks like he blames you for the penalty. You had contact in Coca-Cola (and it rather looks like you closed the door on him; he was almost fully alongside you when you turned in) and 100R (he was in the wrong place, so when you got a bit of understeer, you put him even further out), and then he started flashing his lights at you. As he went for the inside of the hairpin, you turned in (which was fine; he was nowhere near alongside you and was just divebombing) and that put him off to the inside, which got him the penalty.

So he was annoyed by the move in Coca-Cola and blamed you (probably correctly, but it's not like it was a major dick move), even more annoyed by the contact in 100R and blamed you (50:50 at worst) and then even more even more annoyed by the move in the hairpin and blamed you (certainly incorrectly). And then he got a penalty for it and blamed you (also incorrectly), so became fixated on ruining your race too.

You did fall for the old ghosting/unghosting block a few times there...

This is excellent advice. Getting into 4th gear on that downhill section after turn 3 is crucial to carrying a decent speed onto and along the back straight. If you miss it you're stuck at max 75mph until the very end of the straight. Get it right and you can carry a speed of 77mph+ down the entire straight, and it makes all the difference.

That and don't roll the car in turn 1.

On first hand, you seems to be very lucky because of the above.

Nothing surprise though, just another disgusting spaniard clown, thinking he is "racing" while just gaming. In PD's system he belongs to A+/S, in every other reference he is just worth a slap or two from anybody around. First of all from his parents, but it's too late perhaps.

That's kinda norm these days, forget about ratings, people found a way to get around it.

Unrelated tho, in bumper cam on dailies you might wanna have radar on when you're done with TC since in that cam it's very easy to tap people in front which you did a few times, even the guy in the video.
He might have seen it as aggressive taps and wanted to retaliate.

Just my 2¥ :D

He probably got upset at the wide curve although he really overestimated the car and racing line, he got penalty because he pretty much divebomb and fail it, hitting you in the process.

Also even before the wide, he used you as a brake and that didn't give him any penalties to begin with, it also left you in a bad line to work up with.

How did you even manage this at this part of the track?

I have to ask you guy's - honestly I can't get my qualify time below 1;09....... I see quite a few with low 1;07's and I tried and tried but can't get my time down. Tried all braking technics I can think of including trail-braking but no. Anyone?
You probably don't want to hear that I got a 1:07.7 on my second full lap when I don't know what trail-braking is, but:

The key to racing in cars like this is maintaining speed as much as you can. Watch one of the top 10 videos and check the braking points. Focus on practicing those and keeping the car as smooth as possible through the turns. You need to corner without scrubbing any speed at all, so small movements to the steering.

The best advice I have for anyone struggling with qualifying is to watch the top 10 videos though. Look at the line, look at the braking points and the speed through corners, and the gears if you use manual transmission. You almost definitely won't be able to keep pace with them, but if you copy them as much as you can you can get close.

I've managed it twice at turn 1, and so have others according to posts above, so it must be easier than it looks!

I also have the same problem with my qualifying time, stuck on 1:08.020, and cannot improve it at all. Yesterday that was good enough for P3 or P4 on the grid, today only P10 or 11.....

Still managing to make up places in the race though, just have to watch out for the dodgier drivers at the back end of the grid!

Ive not watched any top 10 vids yet as still plenty of time in my best lap but I think generally for A, keep it smooth, carry speed and accel as early as possible. Pretty obvious i know..

Despite the weird shifting lag, the 86 is fun as hell to handle. Hopefully I have some time this week to do some C races otherwise it's Race B until Red Dead drops.

Couple of nice races at Suzuka tonight, must just be Dragon Trail that’s risky for DR on a race B.

Currently on a 2 race clean streak amazingly, especially after a beetle came off the track in front of me then didn’t want to let me pass so rammed me. I thought “oh here we go” but the game got it spot on.

WOW!!! Now THIS is an excellent example of how to keep your composure when someone is being a 🤬! My hat is off to you sir . Excellent job!

I'm not doing race C again, haha

That race is a complete mess, everyone seems to yeet themselves into everyone, and then I find myself being the one at fault for most of them.

Went down to SR B, what a wild ride
