Lol @ Suzuka, people still swing and block as usual at every overtake attempt, even had a guy bumping me off at Casio (typical) without even braking:lol: .

Just staying on the track seems to yield places tho.
Missed this track tbh, finally got to race a bit.

Edit: leading a race in 4th lap, 14s ahead and power cable on my g29 disconnects :lol:

Weird race at Suzuka last night at 8pm UK

Started third and followed cars through the chicane then along the straight waiting for something to happen

Through the esses and still not started, eventually down to the hairpin i was starting to look forward to finishing third

Round the hairpin and on towards spoon (is it?) suddenly get start on screen

Carnage ensues because some drivers get to start before the others, an RS01 came past me in the 911 as if I was stood still and I wasn`t slow in booting it

Eventually got back to fourth after getting passed by everybody

There was no countdown at all it went straight to go

Anybody experienced this before?

After two races I'm not able to connect to a session. I see the 'first' screen with the startingpostions and then when you are supposed to enter the lobby, but I'm back a the Race homescreen again with race abc or the manufacturing en nationscup.

I find that the main points of the track are, I know it’s almost the entire track, but tackle them one by one:

First turn and the esses, the uphill left makes a huge difference.

Hairpin.

The exit of the Spoon turn.

Barely lift just before the 130R.

Try to floor it as soon as possible out of the last chicane.

I’m not the fastest, and it’s been some time that I don’t play it consistently, but I was still able to do a 2:00.2 paying attention to these points.
You just described my entire lap!

I had someone constantly brake checking and blocking, infuriating lol.
Before Casio Triangle a merc driver hard break on the high speed turn (and not a light off throttle or light break, a pure straight up hard break) forcing a driver to punt him and give him a penalty :\

Since we have a full week with same tracks why not give us more spacier and longer racetracks and also no more than one "One Make" a week.

Won an A race, clean race too. Went in for the next one and had a good three way battle, the guy I'd battled with in the first one was back. Another clean race. Then blue screen. Then disconnected in the loading screen. I choose to believe the game is keeping me from playing for everyone else's sake.

If you decide to wait for next week races is F1 2018 a good "waiting ground"? I hope they allow us to communicate with open minded thinking about this.

Next week's races are up:
Suzuka East - N100 - 7 laps
Nurburgring GP - Gr.3 - 4 laps
Circuit de la Sarthe - Gr.1 - 5 laps - x5 fuel, x11 tyres

Time to break out the Group Cs next week :sly:. Wonder if I should but a Brocky Big Banger livery on them?

Restart the game and you'll get a few races out of it before it happens again 👍.

Suzuka man.....this track is very unforgiving. I just did the D/B race with what I thought was a decent lap time for us lower ranks...only to find a lot of guys that had miracle qualy laps in the very, very low 2:00s leaving me 10th or 11th in a field of 16. No joke...by the end of spoon curve on the first lap I had worked my way up to 2nd with no overtakes of any kind. It was all people that yard-sale'd themselves and who was ever next to them from overcooking a corner.....or people making a small mistake and sending themselves onto the beach or spinning into oblivion because 1 pixel of their wheel touched the grass. I know we're only lowly D's but there's no way a track like this should be this unforgiving. Not that it much mattered though because I promptly threw my race away in the end of the second lap and beginning of the third finding my way back to 8th. But lone behold I once again became the beneficiary of people careening themselves off the course and I worked my way back up to 4th by the end. Kinda felt bad because I touched the rear end of 911 I was drafting in the last long uphill straight and sent him ever so slightly a little deep but no positions were lost so I didn't receive a penalty. I got a good run through the chicane and exited to his inside. He then decided to ram me when I pulled along upside him (which I'm assuming was payback for hitting him before the high speed left corner) but by then I already had a nose on him so all he ended up with was an added insult to injury by way of a 2 second penalty

I really think if they're gonna give us tough tracks with GR3 cars, they should throw the fellas a bone and let them at least use Medium Race tires so their won't be as much races ruined by such small mistakes 💡

I said I wasn't going to do any daily races this week. Well I broke that rule...

Had a good battle in the 86 race on Fuji. I used manual gears, as the automatic gears in the 86 suck. That made my life harder though, as I'm not used to a manual. Anyhow, I managed to come third, but only just. The guy behind me pretty much came from nowhere! Suzuka started off quite badly for me, finishing 8th in the 650S GT3. Then I switched to the AMG GT3, a much better car to drive and won it quite easily. Then again the guy who started first made several mistakes, taking my tally to 74 wins.

As many others have posted here, I've also really been struggling with Suzuka. For most of the week I've not been able to break my qualy time of 2:05(!) although was able to lap consistently around that in races and even have faster lap times in a race. This of course puts me at the bottom of the field and I've found by keeping it between the lines I always pick up a few places. It felt I was fighting for scraps though and my DR has been on a slide all week.

Anyway, following the advice of Nando deBem earlier in this thread I managed to slowly improve my qualy to a a 2:02.7 Feeling more confident I started a race but due to the matchmaking I still started near the back. I managed some overtakes, a few others fell off the track, and I was fighting for 8th on the last lap. Then surprisingly for a track that has been really clean racing for me all week I got a massive punt out of nowhere going into Degna 1 that sent me deep into the gravel. I was so annoyed as I was having a really solid race, had made proper overtakes and was actually having fun. After I recovered in my frustration I miss-judged 130R and spun myself (3 rotations!) costing me another position, finishing 1 from last and a further hit on DR.

At this point I was basically ready to give up on Suzuka and just do something else, but after a break I decided to have one last go and I'm so glad I did! This time matchmaking put me 6th on the grid (at last!) and I was able to fight may way up to 4th. On lap 3 the Beetle in front of me overcooked it into Degna 2, moving me up to 3rd. The Beetle was faster than me and caught up so I was on the defensive for most of the last lap but I held on for a podium finish. After the week I've had of barely making the top 10, watching my DR slowly decline, I was elated!

For me this is what GT Sport is about and is a feeling you can't get in other games. Actually celebrating a 3rd place because of continually practising a track to get the consistency needed and fighting fairly for positions.

Some others seem to think that Suzuka is an unfair circuit, but I don't see it that way. It is extremely technical and it does harshly punish very small mistakes. To me that encourages and promotes good clean driving, and it's the same for everyone. I don't think I've seen a race where someone hasn't gone off due to their own fault, so if you are able to keep your laps clean you WILL gain positions.

Controller user here, DR B SR S driving a bright pink 911. ABS Weak, TC1, not using the countersteer assist thingy.

For some reason i checked the time i did on Circuit Experience with Suzuka and it was around 2:03 which wasn't bad at the time i was a full C\S driver. I wonder if i should give the NSX a spin then haha

I think the other advice I can give is:

pay attention to the distance from the edge of the track when you start turning. A meter wrong makes a huge difference in how much you can accelerate and let the car slide to the outside on the exit of a turn.

This is from a while ago, but it’s still valid.
1:59.4.

Love Suzuka, love driving there, but trouble is always near. Had a couple of races and... Watching the replays I am not proud of myself.

Anyway had incidents with the same player in two consecutive races - all in lap three. First he braked before 130R as I was preparing an attack in Casio, so I step on grass which on Suzuka is deadly, lose proper control and torpedo him out of Casio. My very bad.
Next race start the attack from the beggining of the Backstretch but could not complete and retake racing line before 130R - basically I have the inside, his nose is about level with my front tire. At this point I reduce speed to be sure I would not push him out of the track as from past experience I know that he actually uses brakes to take this corner - still, there is no other place for me to go but stay inside. He however decides to go through the curb on the apex and hits me - I remain on track, he goes off, so I get a 2s penalty which I served and finished second and he is somewhere in the back.

My question is - is there anything else I can do in such situation? If I remain behind him, I am a sitting duck for those behind as he is slow in that section. Because of the difference in cars, it is hard to fully complete the overtake before 130R, without his... cooperation we are both in danger.

I sat on the grid in 4th last night rolling start happened countdown about to start and then the power went off for 2 hours, can only assume I won easily :)

Unless you did circuit experience since the update that changed the tyre model, you may find a radical difference in your times ;).

Two races for the night with the Lexus. First race I managed to shave a tiny bit off my GTR qualifying time, and started P8/16 on an all DR/D grid. To get to the top 5 you need 2:02s.

the usual mid chicane dump came and I managed to stay on the track. I kept to the plan and was doing ok. I saw an orange SR when the person I was side by side and slightly ahead on the inside going in to T15. Since they didn't yield they ended up going wide and off track. I made it up to P5 when I thought I had the inside going into the chicane, and made what I thought was a legitimate pass. The other car turned in to me and then went into the sand. I couldn't understand why I got an orange SR and a 3s penalty. Looked at the replay, and there was no overlap, I was behind and he had already started to turn when I came through, so no question, it was all on me :O. I finished P5 due to penalties.

DR up 400, SR down 1. In light of what had happened, I got off lightly.

Second race and I started P11/13. Again all DR/D.

The race was a bit up and down. I definitely wasn't handling the car as well as I did the first race. Got dropped by auto drive at the beginning of the chicane and fought to make it through and on the track. I got up to P8, then down to P11, back up to P8 again, when I went wide at T15. They say karma is a 🤬, and here it is:

That's where I ended up on the final lap... facing the wrong way! I didn't see anything on radar as I got back onto the track just before the braking zone, then was rear ended into the sand . Again why did I get a 3s penalty and an orange SR  ? Replay shows I pulled in front of him while he was going at race speed and about to brake. He had no where to go :scared:.

Finished P11. Dropped another 2 SR and 620 DR. <sigh> Another day above DR 1 :indiff:.

Had my most disappointing in a while. Like everything went wrong. Race A. Started 6th. Finished last.

Pushed off track on the 2nd turn. Managed to climb back to 6th by the last lap. But then messed up turn 2 (again) on my own. Down to 8th. Then I screwed up the last turn trying squeeze into at least 7th. Spin. Finish last.

Definitely will try again. Hopefully all my bad luck mojo was used up on that race.

Suzuka is a tough track. Like Brands and Bathurst, I’ve mostly avoided it like the plague since I got the game. I spent a little time learning it on my way up the ranks, but ever since joining DR.A and above, I’ve had to revisit and study every track in order to get my abilities up to par with other DR.A drivers. So I’ve often been using these weekly races to grow accustomed to the difficult tracks instead of not racing much for the week. In this way, the weeklies have made me better and more skilled on the tracks I could easily avoid before.

So after a couple days of racing and spending a little while on qualifying each day, I managed to get my time down to 2:00.8, surprisingly in the WRX, which so far is my favorite car around there. I really like the M3 too, so much grip, but not as much acceleration or top end as the WRX.

The competition is also super strong at Suzuka, another good reason to race. Many lobbies were totally filled with A+/S & A/S only, which means lots of DR for the taking.

If I could only stay on track I’d be in good position to keep gaining DR, but little mistakes keep costing me positions, and overtakes are a tough feat when working back toward the front. I’ve had some good finishes, and actually got my 91st win here (woohoo!), but more often than not I make one or two mistakes that put me in the sand.

Still working on it, still improving. I know I left about a half second on the track in qualy, it’s just up to me to find it.

Thanks to the GTP members I saw on track this week, you guys are always awesome, clean and fast. I’ll be racing a bit more off and on before the week is up. See you out there.

:gtpflag::cheers:

2nd race A of the day and my bad luck turned around.

Started 3rd. Finished 2nd. Due to a really nice driver scrubbing their penalty (which was bogus, I saw it) on the last turn.

Thought I'd gain more DR with a 2nd place finish. Oh well. At least I didn't feel cursed like i did in my first race.

I find myself just searching for lobby races with FIA settings rather than going into sport mode. It’s been a year, and I’m a bit surprised that they sre still going with 3 lobbies in the dailies.

If it was up to me, Group 4, 3, 2, 1 and B would have their own lobby. Instead of rotating them all the time.

Pd needs to do daily's AND weeklies,
with the weeklies being voted upon,
6 and 8+ laps each.
Done. And fix the penalty system and... matchmaking.

Best game ever

Well, this is the exact example of what i've experienced a few times in the mighty 130R. When there's a car in front of me over there and i put my nose in a bit before the apex, i always lift enough to have a clean result. Also, otherwise, when i'm defending, i do the same, don't care if i lose the pos, as long that it stays clean. ...But yeah, a lot of cowboys think about it differently! And, like you said, those cheeky ones who deliberatly give you a penalty...***holes!
