you want somebody to get a guaranteed penalty? turn into somebody who has the inside line then go off , bam free 5 sec penalty
Yee, that’s how last nights race a went.
Last lap first 2 corners at suzuka. Opponent guards inside line. I go for the inside knowing they’ll make a mistake, and not surprisingly they do.
We’re side by side, I go for the inside since it’s open on turn 2, the other driver turns into me when I’m inside, and they lose speed.
Then they call me dirty. Lul

Damnit I was supposed to be the one to declare McLaren VGT a supreme! If I had just been online for your split I could've easily made my aggressive no-stop work. But instead my 17:31 on attempt 2 had to play 2nd fiddle to Zodz in the Sauber (who got the 17:27 I mentioned earlier).

Yeah, if you were in my race it would've been a McLaren 1-2!!! Had that happened, I'm pretty sure my PS4 would've exploded!

Sick and tired of constant impatient players in race B, 9 times out of 10 either Spanish or German. Constantly getting nudged and pushed wide or punted into others losing SR like crazy. Even qualifying top 3 does not protect you from dive bombers. SR B just seems to be full of the same 2 nations.

What is race C like for SR gain if you trundle around at back?

My DR and SR rating had a melt down the last few weeks. Doing only Race B will do that plus a few disconnects on top of everything. But it's fun to race with aggressive ghosting, there is hardly any real contact. I like it.

Race C is almost always the best bet for gaining SR. Longer race, more sectors to get the green SR flags. I'm not sure about starting in the back.....hehe, but it's pretty clean up front!

I know what you mean about NurbGP....I can't say much about Germans or Spaniards, as I play in Americas region, but I try not to generalize. I will say that I've only ever had one DR Reset, and it was while racing NurbGP many moons ago, so I usually avoid it now.

No way is Race C clean in front from my viewpoint. I'm at a low :01 I think. No cuts, 2 tires in at all times, cruise a bit and no pits. Don't hit people. SR goes up. You have got to be clean!

Im willing to eat the crow on this, but I think Race A will be more SR/hour than C considering, it's so easy to keep it clean in tiny N100 cars
Yeah went from 99 to 79, granted i don't use a very easy to corner like the R18 so it's way easier to make mistakes plus can be caught in some incidents.

The A is mostly a SR fix for me although even there i've seen some disturbing crashes.

I’m quite enjoying race A, I’ve had a couple of clean races which has helped mend my SR. There’s been some rubbing but nothing too serious. I find it quite fun to see how wide I can make that little mini (not weaving all over the track though)

for C I tried the nismo

Complete disaster.

Sub 17 minutes is definitely possible in race C. Made a couple of little mistakes and picked up some silly penalties (1.5s total).

Holy crap dude! 17:19 was still the best I’d seen before this post. I’m gonna have to give the Tomohawk a try.

:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

I've not raced C yet. I'm on a 3.21.6xx with no cuts but where this will put me on the grid is a lottery.

Is no stop the way to go @Cuber Tom?

Is it me, or does the r18 eat front tyres too much?
Or maybe I need to git gud?
Any alternative cars besides that and lm55? Probably 919 and tso50, right?
Oh, and also congrats to GTP_Kin on the dub

Nearly cried tears of joy when De La Sarthe came up on the dailys! hated the last 2 weeks races. skipped the beetle fest and i love Suzuka but DR / SR took a hit because i couldnt get within .700 of my quali time leaving me in lobbies out of my depth.
I struggle with Gr.3 so much and i dont know why, can drive any other class without mistakes and win races but in Gr.3 cars i cant be consistent, it feels like the throttle response changes in each corner each lap (even in non tyre wear races).

Gonna make the most of this week while it lasts, im only good for 7th / 8th on the grid but i can lap within .300 of my quali time every single lap without
fail which has brought me a win, 3 podiums and 2 top 5 finishes last night. even managed an entire race without taking a penalty! Back into A class.

My Review of Group 1 cars so far:
McLaren VGT - Good car but too thirsty for this race - would struggle to no stop in it
Toyota TS050 - Solid, but doesn't have very good brakes (good fuel economy though, don't have to even think about fuel with this car)
Porsche 919 - Great Acceleration, decent fuel - Solid overall car
Dodge Tomahawk - Good fuel, top speed and seems to corner well (poor acceleration compared to the hybrids) - had a good race long battle against a guy in Nissan R92, which he won :(

I went at Qualifying for Race B last night for an hour and the best I could come up with was 2:02.4xx with the Porsche. I keep making too many mistakes coming in and out of the corners, more practice is clearly needed for me. Do you guys leave the ghost car on during qualifying? I feel like it’s messing me up by trying to catch it instead of just driving, maybe I’ll try with it off tonight.

you can assign a button to hide/show the ghost. I as default don't show it, but when I press circle it appears :)

You can press on the right analog stick to turn it off. I always do, as I find it very off putting.

I knocked nearly a second off my best qualy time (set a few weeks ago when this was last a weekly race) in my first flying lap in the Hyundai Genesis. It's not a pretty car, but it works quite well for me on this track.

I'm also struggling with this track but have managed a 1:59.7xx also in the Porsche. It has taken a heap of practice though. I've found time in maximising the width of the track as much as possible going in and out of the turns, often braking while on a curb to get as wide as possible entry line.

Turns 2-4 I'm horrible at but a clean fast exit of turn 4 also gives a load of time. I'm not at all consistent though and seem to always get oversteer no matter when, where or how careful I am with applying the throttle.

In short, I'm also interested in advice others have for this track!

When qualifying I always turn the ghost off. I find it too distracting so watch the timing delta to see where I'm gaining or losing time.

Thanks guys, I have the Up arrow set to toggle it on and off, but I was more just wondering if you guys actually leave it on during qualy laps. I try to so I know where I stand but as I get close to the car it messes me up going into corners because I can see as well through the ghost car. Thanks for the info fellas, I’ll try running with it off tonight. :)

Thanks, I was finding last night that you really can’t hammer down on the Porsche until the wheels are basically dead straight. Even a little turned still and she just wants to slide out, I had to go up to TCS 3 to stop the sliding but it slowed the car down to much so I put it back down to 1.

I tend to toggle the ghost on and off [R3 by default] just to see if am up and down, usually I just keep lapping as its better to see where your up using the time splits as you can see where your gaining or losing as you go. However on laps like this weeks race C if you make a mistake it can be a long way round so I often restart and this is where the ghost becomes handiest to compare the lap as you go.

Guys, I need advice on the weekly race A.

Usually, I’m stable and show good performance at slow races (2-5 place on finish whet starting on 5-9), but once again Mini Cooper + Suzuka make me struggling, it’s hard for me to simply keep position, I usually go 1-2 below starting.

My qualifying time is 1:07:300.

My driving aids settings:
TCS 1
ABS weak
all other off

What is the key to win on this track? Key turns? Key moves?

...Know what you mean, i've also switched it off. I was so focused on it. As 4 the red or purple sector times, i can live with those but try not look how much. But the delta times are most difficult not to watch! Wish i could also switch those off!

AUDI R18 '16 is a metacar for this track right now. However I've managed to achieve 3rd in Toyota TS030 '12 :) Not that bad for an old hybrid.

As far as I noticed, the no-stopper works with Toyota TS030 '12, Toyota TS050 '16, AUDI R18 '16. Didn't check if possible with Porsche 919 '16.

Yeah it is easily possible to no-stop the Porsche 919. I will get round to the Audi R18, but I enjoy racing against people who are in better cars. Gives me a real sense of achievement when I can race them (and sometimes beat them). I will try the older Toyota as well, so thanks for the suggestion :)

The key to win on Suzuka is smoothness while cornering, the consecutive bends at the beginning will be dictating your pace and time for the reminder of the lap, so you must nail them.

The Mini Cooper doesn't need TCS, so you can just disable it and race just as fine if not better, during cornering you will be keeping your revs high while accelerating if you're not careful and smooth to with your steering inputs, which brings to my next hint:

Use cockpit camera if you haven't already, reason for this is that with cockpit camera you will be seeing your steering inputs better by watching the steering wheel, turn on the radar and use it to check your surroundings(I prefer to just look around using the camera, but the radar is easier).

Set ABS to default because the car has some shady brakes in general(it's a old car after all) and you will need them for the first corner at least.
