I drove the 787B in Race C yesterday. Big mistake. I was really struggling to keep my fuel usage down and I was nowhere. Then again an incident coming into Indianapolis didn't help my cause. I only finished 8th after starting 3rd on the grid. Chose the 908 for the next race, and the fuel was easier to manage. Came 5th in that one after getting pushed off at Mulsanne Corner.

You what? When I pitted on lap 3 I still had 1.2 laps worth or fuel left in the Mazda, and I was thrashing it. Short shifting should be able to do a no stop.

With no fuel saving and automatic gears I usually have 17 litres left after doing three laps. I think trying to win in it against B+ level drivers is a lost cause for me.

Attention race fans!
We have a gr 3 sprint to the finish at Nürburgring gp! So I luckily got a chance to get on today. Obviously I hopped in my super secret triple throwdown best car in the world at gp that no one uses car and qualified up.
Full bs room. I found myself in fifth position on the grid. Got a great start right into the slip baby. Guy in fourth chooses to defend inside so I am in the normal race line...
Clunk! He got bumped but I am through clean and so is he! Round we go and I am a few car lengths back into Schumacher. His connection was lagging a bit as he missed turn in went off track and corrected right back into the line as I am exiting with my foot on the floor. I make contact as does the GTR behind me...
Luckily I am able to sneak past and no penalty given to me...
Next lap there was a casualty from the guy ahead of me and I find myself in third...Oh ya babe...
Second place is right about my pace maybe 3 seconds up and collects a penalty for cutting the tight chicane of 2.5...This just got real. I have no pressure from behind time to push. Got too deep in turn one preventing me from getting closer but, he’s got a penalty to burn...
Man, I almost clipped him at the line but he made it by less than half a second...
That’s right. Groundfish on the podium. I feel that do you?
Anyways I’d just like to say we salute you lagger Corvette messing up in front of me guy and also we salute you guys driving 911s slipping all over unable to grip guys .
Good stuff.

Stay thirsty my friends

I had one more go at the Mini, best race of the day. Started 3rd, finished 2nd and had the fastest lap for the race, I can’t remember what it was now lol, but it was faster than my Qualifying time slightly, which is a first for me in a race. What a fun day. :)

I’m sorry but it’s so difficult to get into this game when you are slow. Online racing is left to those who have more racing time. That’s fine but there’s those that like to mess with those that are quicker. I’m not the quickest or even the quickest. I would enjoy racing with comparable advicarie

It must come down to AT then. When I pit it's generally because I'm not smooth enough to manage tyre wear, so I throw on new boots. I only have to take on a fraction of a laps worth of fuel, and I'm not even short shifting. Once I'm done with the Sauber tonight I'll probably go back to the Nissan 92 and try short shifting it. Maybe the Mazda the following night.

I've had the odd trip into DR/C but I've been DR/D for 200 odd race days or 400 odd races. Sometimes there just isn't enough people entering the races to get a full grid of your peers. SR also seems to play a role. I *generally* get better matchups on full SR.

Seriously getting frustrated with this stupid r18. Crap tyre wear, crap fuel mileage, I mean you can no stop it oc, but you have to really shift early with it and mess with the fuel mapping.
I just don’t understand. It’s got the pace oc, but I just don’t understand it.
What am I doing wrong?

This week, I've decided to campaign the AMG GT3 on Nurburgring GP. I hear it's almost a 911 RSR one-make race out there, so I'll try to be a bit different. After running the 911 on Suzuka last week, I'd gotten used to the linearity and smoothness the it requires to get the best out of it. By comparison, the AMG is a lot more chuckable and more forgiving over curbs, which I'll need to be quick on Nurburgring GP.

I use the same car to race, for the reasons you state, great over kerbs and good exits. It's my fastest race car, i qualify faster with the Toyota and the lexus and even the jag but not by much and in the race the predictability of the merc allows me to race, the others are too twitchy. Cannot make the porsche work at the 'ring, way too nervous and spins too easily.

I don't think an original Mini would fare well in a Gr.3 race, sadly.

Lol! I think he meant to reply my post above yours.

Just got my 1st win at Circuit de la Sarthe for the week, I wasn't particular quick just steady. I used the Toyota TS050 which you can basically just drive as it easily makes 5 laps on the full tank so there is no fuel saving required. To be honest the other cars where slow and even though they pretty much all pitted and I didn't I finished with over half a minute lead to P2. Probably be last next race, seems to be how I roll. Haha, yes, last next time. Used the R92CP but ran out of fuel with about a 5th of a lap left. Seems the R18 is the most popular but its nice seeing a decent mix of cars for a change.

i love how people who expect to win everytime lose their temper really quickly if you dare challenging them or overtaking them

I had that on Mulsanne. An R18 tried to block me. I just swapped sides and the difference in speed was so great he couldn't even draft .

Man I dropped sr due to racing from the back and people just running you off the road because their fragile egos cant handle how much slower they are. Managed a few podiums but after the last one I saw I had been reset to dr B sr C, might have to do qualy tomorrow night and just run the lm55

First race for the night and I'm not off to a very good start. Started P10/16 with the R8 on a mixed grid of DR/C and D. I'm trying to turn too tight and I'm not using enough of the track, so when I put my foot down for the exit, nothing happens .

Race starts and I'm dumped mid corner by auto drive. I make it through the first 4 corners, and on the 5th, with me on the inside and ahead, someone slams me off the track and into the sand, for which I am rewarded with an orange SR and time penalty :banghead:. By the time the game decided to re-spawn me I'm 2nd last. I had a bit of a fight on my hands trying to get through the people at the back, and quite a few side by side moments of a little rubbing by both cars trying *not* to make contact, but eventually I was up to P10 and right on the tail of P9... who was right on the tail of P8... who was right on the tail of P7... yeh, you get the picture . Missed P9 by half a length.

SR went up a point to 99 despite the time penalised SR down. DR dropped another couple of hundred. I kinda needed those poinst because I'm going to loose DR in race C. I don't know if the DR/Ds are scared off by the track or the cars, but there's only been a few of us in the races I've been in this week.

Well, I got lucky with race matching. I managed to beat my '91 Mazda time with my fav Group C, the Sauber. That saw me P5/18, which dropped to P4/14 due to the "reset to sport mode screen" bug 👍. The grid had a DR/A and B in P1 and 2, the rest was a mix of DR/D and C. The fav car seemed to be the LM55, but there was another couple of Group Cs in my race :D.

The start even in P4 was awkward, but I managed to get away. There was a Toyota right up my arse and trying to get past till we hit Mulsanne. I had to slow down a fair bit to negotiate the corners up to that point, and he did have a few opportunities to pass me on the outside. He blew his chance and I took off. I did seem to gain slightly over the 92 in front of me, and with every lap I was getting closer and closer, then I had to pit :nervous:.

I pitted P4 on lap 3 because my tyres weren't happy. I had 1 lap of fuel left. I came out P6 with an orange SR. I assume I came in to pit lane entry too hot, I was 7s clear of the car behind me when I pitted. I wish there was 6 laps instead of 5.. I was starting to gain on the cars in front.

I finished here:

I report my finish position this way because a) it was a decent finish, and b) they got my race number right :sly:.

SR maintained, DR left me 350 richer than last night :dopey:. Another day above DR 1 :D.

Just had a really odd Race B. A large chunk of players were disconnected immediately, leaving just 9 of us to start the race. If this wasn't enough we also had the 'grid glitch' so that when I crossed the start line in P2, P3 was already about 4 seconds behind. Had a minor battle with P1 as I was faster through some corners and he was faster through others. Managed to get alongside him as he made a mistake through the esses but I couldn't make it stick around the outside of the left hander. I also tapped him once going into the chicane but couldn't find a way past. That was all the excitement of the race!

Funny that what I'd normally consider a great result (P2) was the dullest race ever. P3 did close the gap to just over a second at one point but we pulled away again as he was fighting off P4.

Gonna stream some Daily Race C at the top of the hour, I wanna cap out my DR again  Currently holding the 6th fastest time in Europe (and it was scruffy as hell) so if anyone wants any pointers I'll be happy to help

Has anyone noted that the gran-turismo.com site is not recording the record time correctly in the tab for Sporting History - Course records.

I maintain a spreadsheet for my best times per track and I noted that the Course record is clearly the LATEST time you recorded in qualifying for that track.

Have anyone else noted this ?
Is there any other place were I can get the best time I have recorded for the track ? The Jasonguernsey site is not working anymore for me.

Yeah it’s been mentioned on one of these threads somewhere. I think it captures your most recent lap on that track instead of your best, but I may be wrong. I just remember looking at them before and seeing an actual time I put up recently, just not the best one. Even though I had set my best time on that same day, somehow it got overwritten.

Yes, I managed to go all the way with the Mazda. But I had my fuel mixture on 6 for the most part.

I went all the way short shifting the Mazda on fuel 1 for most of the race. Changed to map 3 for 90% of the 4th lap and then had enough fuel for full revs in mode 1 on the last lap unfortunately I screwed up on that lap chasing down p4 and finished 8th.

The worst thing about the group c cars is the braking performance compared to the modern hybrids. First 2 laps I was punted at Mulsanne and on 2 other laps punted at indy and arnarge. Ive seen so many people who apparently cant get around Terte Rouge at anything resembling race pace. There has been times where im looking at a modern lmp hybrid in front of me by around a second and thinking about getting the overtake on the straight and all of a sudden im in the back of them because they have jammed the brakes on at this corner. It was my impression that most gr1 cars can make that corner with no more than a lift of the throttle and maybe a dab on the brake.

Gosh I just had to dump a race. First lap La Sarthe and I am letting folks by just after Tretre Rouge I see a racer has a much better entry and has a quick closing speed on me so I made room and bam the jerk behind the racer slammed into me so no clean race after about 5 turns.

I am fed up with this. I know I’m slow and can’t start in front but please let me run a clean race PD.

Why do you penalize me for the things I can’t do??

I just had a bizarre glitch on Race B. Again there was the grid glitch where one car (I think P4) wouldn't autodrive at the start. I was stuck behind him at a standstill until the countdown completed and off we go ...... at which point I find I'm in reverse!! By the time I get going I unghost and get booted up the arse for an SR down and a time penalty.
It should have been a fun race but was an utter disaster. Managed to make up a few positions but that's the second race in a row where the grid has split like that before the start. I've been lucky with not having disconnects but this glitch seems to be following me!

I tried the Toyota in Race C last night, I knew it would be a lot slower than the Audi but I fancied a change. It's actually a really good race car, easy to drive and doesn't need much management over a race distance, more importantly it looks much better than the Audi too.

Anybody else having trouble staying connected during the pre-race loading screen? Ive been getting booted every time. This isn’t something that usually happens to me, ever.
