We'll see about those track limits, when the Penalty Zone is implemented.

Well most of the time you don't get a penalty but you're right maybe with the zones it won't be worth the risk to do it during a race.

These zones certainly are needed to stop people with 7+seconds of penalties still ruining other people's races.

Absolutely. It‘s ridiculous and unfair when a driver pushes you off the track and continues. A punishment only works if people are chastised instantly (if you got kids, dogs or cats you know what I‘m talking about). But also they need to repair the current penalty system otherwise it‘s going to be frustrating.

Race B, European server is an SR loss for me so far. Just 4 races and already down 16 points. Losing SR for taps from behind and being side swiped on corners.

Same here, I was put down to B last night. It should only be the aggressor that gets the -SR. Being hit is not typically the fault of the guy who gets hit.

Has anybody got intel about the last two corners? frequently get a penalty there, but unsure whether it is running wide left between the corners or rather cutting the last corner or running wide there. General problem is that penalty is delayed, so no info what actually was done wrong...

Has anybody figured out, whether ABS weak is better in the Gr.4 Huracan? Brake balance?

I got a 0.569 penalty for cutting somewhere on the inside last corner, on the last lap.

The penalty flashed up just as I was about to cross the line. Talk about delayed!!!!

Tried my best to race cleanly, fastest lap pole etc, got rammed down to fourth, didnt even brake early, the standard of drivers out there is shockingly bad.... not sure if i can be bothered again lol
Try Race C the skill gap there is way bigger at the Nurb.

Penalty is from going wide there. And yes, it does come out about 3 metres before the finish line.

A bit torn on this race. It is the only that seems ok to me this week, but there is a lot of punting there. First few laps are all looking at the mirror trying to avoid MrRamboiRammerstain from throwing me out. Can have a fun race, but still have not had a race where I have not been hit behind. TT is OP, Cayman can be fun as it stops on a nickle.

That's the way it used to be at one stage. Then people started to abuse the penalty system with brake checks so they changed it so the person getting hit gets the penalty. When I started playing Sport Mode *both* people got the penalty.

More penalty whining here:
Absolutely ridiculous in Race B.
Just made 2 obvious errors ramming/punting people off in Turn 1. NO PENALTY AT ALL.
Then in Turn 2, I just rubbed sides with an opponent and got the 5.0 sec !!!
Moral: Just stay away from everybody and everything. (maybe even from the game itself)

Okay, maybe I was a bit optimistic about the Nürburgring. I tried some laps but wasn't too happy so I decided to take the Autobahn south to Austria. In the Cayman I could manage some low 38s on RBR but that didn't seem competitive enough to join a race. Taking the TT cup finally brought a 1:37,3xx and I did a race starting from pole. Yeeeessss!!!
All drivers were B/S but obviously that didn't mean anything. T1 delivered what everybody else tells in this very thread and I found myself on last position. As people were destroying themselves and their direct opponents I finished 10th. So next try. Pole again and this time everyone seemed to agree that brake pedals are not just designed to keep dust from falling on the spot underneath them... Survived T1 and had a victory. So day 6 in sport mode ended with some more dr points than it started. SR is 3 points down to 96 but I guess you can't have it all.

I'm certainly not bothering with the 'Dailies' this week. It's like PD decided to make a concerted effort to drop as many people's SR as possible!
A: The Beetle's front corner has a magnetic attraction to the walls at most corners, leading to a ridiculous 5 second penalty even if you have braked hard enough to just tap it.
B: the last corner penalty seems to have become ultra-sensitive. And besides, I somehow felt my car was about 80 horsepower down on everyone else in the 2 races I entered.
C: It's the Nurburgring 24Hr. Say no more! (I can race it, but it's a lottery depending on who you're up against).

I'll just stick to the lobby* or arcade to get my free (duplicate) cars each day and leave it at that this week.

*Although having been kicked out of the two lobby races i entered because 1) someone demanded a restart when they were outside the top 10 and nobody had a bad start and 2) what looks like a server error, I'm not sure I can even be bothered with the lobby either!

I see DR discrimination is still a thing. I'm currently low DR.A getting matched with DR.B (and lower). Actually every race is A+ to D so far, not enough entries. So while starting from the back as always I notice several things

- Time penalties count down faster (or sooner) for lower DR players. I was stuck behind a DR.B player for over half a lap (N24) and his penalty of 5 seconds kept getting smaller and smaller at plenty turns, shaving off multiple seconds over half a lap. I'm following behind, yet the 0.513 I had from stepping out of the track to avoid his unsteady driving earlier never moved 1ms.
- I got punted off by a different DR.B driver, he did correctly get a time penalty, yet I ended up with a neutral SR rating while he got away with blue.
- It also seems that brushing a wall is more often forgiven at lower DR. I was doing a no stop, got out of the way in lap two to let 2 faster cars pass and my mirror must have brushed the wall, instant 5 second penalty. Meanwhile I see people bouncing of walls with impunity...

Stop mixing different rules in the same race...

I didn't even know that this actually happens. Penalties shouldn't have to differ because of your DR.

Does anybody else have the feeling that in Race B, the timing is different in Race vs Qualifying. Feels like I am always late in the race. Feels like PS4 Standard has trouble keeping it at 60fps!

I did a race A today. Thought I had qualified reasonably fast for my DR, turned out I hadn‘t. The field consited of everything from D to A rating. So my 1:49 put me on Position 10 of 12. I didn‘t lose anything and finished as is. I don‘t know, I like the idea of having to drive as smooth as possible, but somehow I lack the sensitiveness in my thumb: turn in, minor scratching from the tires and then oversteer without any warning.

I also did two B‘s. I switched from the Scirocco to the TT since I didn’t feel well with the gear ratio in 2nd especially in T2.

The first race was okay - no gain, no loss. The second put me on Pos. 3. I passed #2 after turn 2, I didn‘t dare to leave the track and only „cut“ just on the curbs. #1 and #3 did and had 2s penalties in the end so was declared the winner along with a clean race bonus.

What do you need brakes for when there is a perfectly good way of slowing down the car using the car in front. The car to the side is also a realy usefull way of staying on the track. I mean... that's what the other cars are there for ne? :p

2nd to last corner may be the only one that's correct here, go all four wheels off and it's a certain penalty, you've got to keep two wheels on track although you'll likely get away with it if they are on the kerb. Cutting the last corner is also a penalty, if again you do it with more than two wheels, running wide seems to be allowed unless you go way off but it's not like you can gain an advantage there I don't think.

You can never be 100% sure though, sometimes I get a penalty for doing something I've done again and again previously without a penalty and the amount you get is so random too and almost never a whole number.

shame has become a game
but 5 races, where others hit me
and they disqualify me
now I'm just starving in the race-and without any touch or what
immediately alert me that I will be disqualified
and you guessed-the other hit me backwards and
good bye
now I'm sorry I paid this for three months
who I was a naivet dropped, thinking that what had been repaired
it got worse than I could dream of
money was generally taken
last time from me, at least until the next ps5
never more ps plus
though I know, naive like me will always be

and now I'm on D and E
and only tune deeper into ****
I even started and started third in the 19th
all missed, made 20 sec away
reached the last one who had been out
and guess, hit me from behind and I got out
This was supposed to be a fun and torture
I'm driving gt-from

gt1
gt2
gt3
gt4-best
gt5
gt s.....

Don't worry, it is the same for most of us.
Once I race a Track+Car I am good with, my rating goes up to A/S in a day (lot of poles, easy game, not penalty problems)
But e.g. today at Race B, I just dropped to B/D because I always find myself mid-pack and don't know the track well.

Positive side: this way you can put together a streak of winds once you are far enough down and once you really get the track+car.

I got a few second places today on N24 from the back, helped by the difficulty of maintaining 99 SR which is quite the challenge on that track. I'm currently at 94, only gained 1 point in the last race where a car behind me lost control and took me out. Not really his fault, stuff happens and some pixels of grass are programmed to instantly spin any car that touches it. The problem is, that since the crashing car went off the road before crashing me off road, I end up with a 5 sec penalty.

That stuff happens often enough to make it a continuous battle back to 99. One car that spins out in front of you which you can't avoid and any hope of gaining SR for that race is gone. 2 such incidents or a couple impatient people that tap your bumper a couple times and it's a red rating. Which will drastically alter matchmaking once you drop below 90 SR.

It's not that people drive bad at max SR, it's the penalty system that makes things bad. And the actual ...holes know how to get away with it or simply don't care.

Yet don't lose hope. While racing through the backfield I encounter most drivers in each race, some twice with me or them doing a no stop. And by far the majority are racing really well and I've seen plenty people wait to give back the position after making a mistake. It would be wonderful if the penalty system recognizes this behavior and negates any penalties and SR deductions from such a collision. (Of course the game would just get confused when what it considers the victim, waits to let the supposed aggressor pass)

I'm kinda worried about penalty zones coming to sport mode. The one thing you can do last second to avoid a collision, which is leave the track, often leads to a shortcut or wall penalty despite losing time. Slowing you down for that only makes it even more logical to simply crash people out of the way and hope the penalty system gets it wrong instead of taking a voluntary penalty.

Anyway, lots of fun close racing in N24. One eye on the road ahead, other eye on the car bouncing around right in front, third eye on the mirror to keep track of what the car bouncing behind might try to do, fourth eye on the radar in corners when we all bunch up. Glasses required, 2 eyes are not enough.

It’s been a decent night so far, 2 Dubs and I beat my time by 2 tenths, then a dirty, dirty race where I finished 5 and undid all the good the first two races had done. Oh well, still a net positive. :D
