for my first race C of the week yesterday, the guy behind me kept on diving me... 12s penalty seemed not enough for him.............................................................................
the exact opposite tonight, great race C with team up and caring about; one of those which keeps you loving sport mode

I guess. I prefer Winning, by a country mile when possible, so I always use a Hammer to drive a nail. :D

Kind of depends on what level you are at I guess, for me winning by a country mile is quite boring. Not trying to sound like an elitist here but..... As The Stones once said, “I can’t get no satisfaction”, winning with the meta. Plus IMO, no better way to improve your race craft and speed than using something not quite as good as your fellow competitors.

Why do some people not like using the META car for a track? If it’s the best tool available, why would you not use it? You wouldn’t drive a nail with a screw driver would you? So why would you not use the best car for a given track? The theory just doesn’t make sense to me lol.

Because it's boring to use the same car that 3/4 of the lobby is using. It's far more rewarding for me to do well in something different.

4 Races today, 2 B and 2 C. For B: It‘s not a track I will ever get familiar with. Started from the back of the field with an SLS AMG and gained a few spots but nothing too spectacular. But both races were silver-star-clean.

Then two C‘s with the Cayman on softs. To make a long story short: I want penalty zones ASAP! You race clean and get bumped and pushed by morons (sorry, but it‘s the truth) in their Huracáns prominently waving their penalty flag with 20+ seconds while still they cannot keep that silly trolley in a straight and clean line!?

They pass you on the straight and then they block you while they struggle with the turns in the second half. It‘s ridiculous!

At least I didn‘t get any SR- or penalty because of their rustic way of „racing“ (though what they do is more some kind of pool billard around a racetrack)

This week I really put some time into qualifying for race C though minimal effort. Since it's all walls again I figured a rubber band can do the qualifying for me, eventually I should get there. I picked the Megane Trophy on hard tires, no meta use for qualifying. TCS at 0 for some lovely smoke effects while bouncing off the walls.

The trophy seemed to get off to a good start, however just after T1 the car got turned around and decided to go the wrong way. Luckily the pit exit got in the way and after a lot of spinning and smoke the car was reset in the right direction. This time it made it to the bridge, yet there it seemed to get completely stuck. I had to go to bed so left it there to see if it would finally inch out of it.

It had moved some, but didn't get further than under the bridge. I briefly turned on TCS to get the car unstuck.

It took no time at all to get to the hairpin after getting past the bridge. There the reset screwed things up.

The game reset every time before the car could go off in a new direction. TCS or no TCS no matter, this seemed to be the end. Intervention was required so reluctantly I opted to make use of the hand brake. Gas still rubber banded, hand brake to slow down and start a spin, release hand brake and engage TCS. Sounds simple, it wasn't. It took many tries as you only get a little time before the reset kicks in. Go too slow, reset. Too far to the back wall, reset. Hit the inside wall, reset.

Perseverance paid off in the end, victory

100% Gas, hand brake plus TCS, no steering.

The rest was easy, finish in style with a blistering 2:05.418335 (might have the punctuation wrong)

The game credited me with 94km for that run on the 7.3km track. Without taking the 7 hour penalty into account the average speed was slightly over half a kilometer per hour, barely outpacing a crawling baby.

I'm all set for the rest of the week.

Yes. Although, penalties seem to be worse when you hit a wall under full throttle. I suppose the game thinks you're trying to use the wall to turn.

Not sure about Tokyo ( I don't touch the tracks because I got tired of the 1min penalties I always got from people ramming me into walls), but with other walled tracks like the ovals, you get a hefty penalty hitting walls under throttle, but also under full braking, If you hit the wall coasting you seem to be able to get away with it.

That makes perfect sense and I like your theory. Thanks very much for the reply. :)

Some of us are terrible and need all the help we can get

(also I've used the Huracan before and enjoy its stability through corners)

Hey everyone. I raced with you guys back in gt6. Just wondering how I can register again. Thanks
It's as simple as playing the game and getting PlayStation Plus (if you don't have it already)

I spent some time trying out cars for the C race this evening. Thought I was doing pretty well until I checked the timing boards. Depressing...I'm still 4 seconds off the top 10. Anyway...I think I'm gonna drive the Jag first. Did a 10 flat on softs so I have a bit of pace (I think), and from what I've been reading here, fuel shouldn't be a problem. It also has some speed.
Anybody have a clue on what tires if I want to go no stop?

Well I managed to best my times from all three tracks tonight by at least a couple tenths each which was pretty cool, Race B still feels weird backwards though. But I do love driving that Tesla, it’s so much fun for some reason, it’s too bad it’s a crap track for a race. I haven’t done a race yet, Im too scared for my SR that I finally got back up to S last week, maybe I’ll race on the weekend. :)

Well, I ran C twice. Some real jerks out there, especially in my first race. A guy in a Nissan took out the guy in front of me in the first turn on purpose...on the warm up lap. Did the same in the race, got into the wall and swerved to get me. Luckily he got ghosted. Ended up with 17 seconds and a red B by the end, and I don't think I did anything that wasn't forced on me. Second race I started 8th, finished 4th. Got 3 seconds in the first corner... I think for tapping the wall avoiding the pileup. 5 of us got away, and 4 were racing clean. The one that was weaving and putting guys in the wall ended up hittingbthe wall and dropping back while the top 4 put in some 2:10 to 2:12 laps to get a buffer. I pitted on L4 (soft/soft) and rejoined in 7th. Made some passes and had a good lap 6 with 5th before I left him behind(tires) to finish 4th. Time was 15:45.5, back 25 seconds from P1, who lead the whole race, I think. Got my DR back up to 12138 and gained a whole point for SR of 54.

Race A is the Tesla S? Anyone find the Ludicrous mode button? :sly:

* tried the Tesla. So quiet. So weird. Hit the wall once and it didn't ghost, just sat there parked sideways, then had to go back and forth until I faced forward again. I'm staying away from Tokyo this week.

I absolutely HATE driving this Tesla.

I've been no stopping on Mediums, using a Viper.

Gets you ahead of the hard tire pack, and keeps you there.

Running mid 11's to 13's all race long, which has been enough for top 6 finishes when starting near the back of the pack.
Maybe Ill try mediums tomorrow and see what times I can do. Thanks.

What car did you use for that 2:01.4xx. I assume you used the TT cup for the 2:08. BTW, I always hate getting a time like that...6 lousy hundredths...

I am beginning to like the reverse track for race B. Lots of tricky corners. I am finding it hard to nail a clean and fast lap in qualifying. I know that I can go a second faster than my best lap if I could just put it all together.

2 races so far, as I have been concentrating on learning the track. First race, I threw away a certain 3rd place by running off track on the final two corners of the last lap, ended up 4th. Second race I had a minor skirmish with a 911 and ended up at the back, and then tried too hard to catch back up.

2 Tokyo tracks in this weeks race.

My god. I have never seen a single person praise tokyo ever.

Why the hell would you put 2 in there.

Only plus side here is we won't see tokyo for a long time hopefully :p

ANother couple of race C's today. First race I tried the Corvette; improved my qualifying time over the McLaren by 0.5 sec to 2:06.670. For the race itself, there were a few angry Huracan drivers and everything went well until I pitted after lap 4 where I got passed by 2 no-stopping Huracan's and got undercut by another. Beginning lap 6, managed to time a slipstream pass to get 3rd heading into T1, and up ahead, the two no-stopping Huracan's were playing some kind of penalty game and ended up in the T1 wall! I mugged them on the inside and drove away for the W. Plenty of red dots , and one driver even went down to SR-E!

Second race, I went back to the McLaren as the Corvette didn't seem to feel good in the race, esp on older tyres. This time, only 10 racers and had a rather uneventful race to finally snag win #91 and get that gold trophy!

One problem doing the 1 pitstop soft-soft strategy is you have to negotiate some of the no-stoppers later in the race (usually it's a few angry Huracan's!).

I used the Porsche for Race B and the Lambo for Race C, I usually suck with the Lambo so it was a nice change from the norm, I do normally use the Porsche for Gr3 though. My GranTurgismo paddles finally arrived last night too so maybe that helped with the Lambo, no more missing 2nd/3rd gear on tight corners :)

Anyone got other non Meta cars, that are good over the race distance for Race C, just tried out the BMW M4 and managed 2nd. Could have been closer but I lost the tow to the leader trying not to get destroyed in the early stages I was 3rd on the grid using the time set in the Lambo. Trying the Mustang next, no idea how the tires will stand up. I have been one stopping at the end of the forth lap, going soft to soft.
NSX left me with 60litres in the tank at the finish. Slipping in and out of a tow, I was hitting 265km/h. Made up for low top end speed, carrying lots of speed in the twisty sections, on RM tyres(no stop),

While I agree PD are overdoing Tokyo in Sport Mode, I do like all the Tokyo tracks. The new layouts in particular are really great circuits. I'm enjoying race C this week, although my SR is less grateful!

I did a bunch of one stop races this morning from the back and while it is fun, stopping doesn't seem to pay off. I started 18th in the last one, got to 4th in lap 3 then got fresh tires, dropped to 9th coming out of the pit, and made it back to 4th. That seems to be a repeating pattern.

The rooms were much less populated earlier where I managed to get a couple second places. However compared to the fast guy at the top I lose almost 10 seconds from the pit stop which I barely make up in the next 4 laps. It's a wash at best.

It is easier to avoid cars on fresh softs, however I also meet the same people twice giving them another chance to door bang me, or draft bump which is what has been lowering my SR to 82 this morning. I appreciate the push, not the -5 SR for each bump... Fun races, yet I'll give no stop another try later on. Less time to lose when getting stuck behind someone plus without that 10 sec loss in the pit I would have won those races where I got second.

On another note, Cayman is becoming the new meta. Is it better on tires? What tires are best for a no stop?
