This week I really put some time into qualifying for race C though minimal effort. Since it's all walls again I figured a rubber band can do the qualifying for me, eventually I should get there. I picked the Megane Trophy on hard tires, no meta use for qualifying. TCS at 0 for some lovely smoke effects while bouncing off the walls.
The trophy seemed to get off to a good start, however just after T1 the car got turned around and decided to go the wrong way. Luckily the pit exit got in the way and after a lot of spinning and smoke the car was reset in the right direction. This time it made it to the bridge, yet there it seemed to get completely stuck. I had to go to bed so left it there to see if it would finally inch out of it.
It had moved some, but didn't get further than under the bridge. I briefly turned on TCS to get the car unstuck.
It took no time at all to get to the hairpin after getting past the bridge. There the reset screwed things up.
The game reset every time before the car could go off in a new direction. TCS or no TCS no matter, this seemed to be the end. Intervention was required so reluctantly I opted to make use of the hand brake. Gas still rubber banded, hand brake to slow down and start a spin, release hand brake and engage TCS. Sounds simple, it wasn't. It took many tries as you only get a little time before the reset kicks in. Go too slow, reset. Too far to the back wall, reset. Hit the inside wall, reset.
Perseverance paid off in the end, victory
100% Gas, hand brake plus TCS, no steering.
The rest was easy, finish in style with a blistering 2:05.418335 (might have the punctuation wrong)
The game credited me with 94km for that run on the 7.3km track. Without taking the 7 hour penalty into account the average speed was slightly over half a kilometer per hour, barely outpacing a crawling baby.
I'm all set for the rest of the week.
