First race on the mountain, 6:30 am, surprisingly all SR.S. I start 12th, drive carefully as it's my first race, pass one car in lap 1 who then repeatedly starts bumping me while I'm stuck behind the next car. In Forest Elbow he does it twice again so I tap the wall on corner exit, there you go 4 sec penalty. That still works.

Then in lap 2 I get really bad. I try to out brake a Megane in the Huracan, however this is on hard tires.
iEoet1a.gif

Totally my fault, I did no leave any room, might not even have made the corner without the 'assist'
What does the game do, give me clean race bonus....

Second race I drive myself off at the slight right on the down hill, recover, yet lose a position, started 10th, to 6th to 7th. At least I didn't kill anyone. No clean race bonus this time obviously.

Third race, 7:10 am, now it goes down to E/B. Room of 14, starting 12th, or room of 13, starting 11th after the mandatory preload disconnect. The second car I pass doesn't like to be passed. He tries to force me off at the Conrod straight while I'm alongside. I manage to get back on the road before the 150 marker and save the turn down the mountain. Then he bumps me off at the final turn. I follow him while he drives erratically over the track wrecking another car. He has 5 sec penalty already so I rather stay behind as he's just swerving all over the place. Yet in the last lap he screws up Forest Elbow and I pass him, he still tries to ram me while ghosted. I'm in 5th now, yet he bumps me off again in the final turn. Not much I could do to avoid him, he gets another 3 seconds, I finish 7th as 2 other cars can squeeze through while I'm in the sand. This nice dirty individual was reported and dropped to SR.B. At least I didn't get any SR deductions from getting hit, improvement.

This is race is far too short for starting in the back. The track is great as always. Perhaps when I get more confident in the car I can over take some in the mountain section. First, adjust back to hard tires after a week of driving on softs. SR 99, DR down about 1K to 32.8, it's going to adjust down a lot with these short races.

I do not understand the people who get mad when they get passed, isn't that the whole point of racing??

I don't know if GETTING passed is the point, but it's going to happen. I finished the week with a pretty good time at Tokyo (2:07.3xx) and picked up a lot of race pace towards the end. Got maybe half a dozen 2nd places, and only one win. Got at least one fastest lap. Why didn't I win more? Someone else was either faster, or more consistant. If I get passed and I don't have the speed to pass back, I try to apply pressure and see if they make a mistake. I had a guy in one of my last races(I ended 6th with no stop) get mad because I passed, and he took me out in the hairpin, twice, and hit me a number of times. I think next time Ill just pit and put on softs, finish wherever and stay away.

OK,after a busy week I can finally spend some time on GTS :) Just completed some qually runs for race C.

Any suggestions on strategy? Fuji's a pretty long pit stop if memory serves me correctly(?)

Ah, finally new races!
I didn’t race last week. Gp2 and I just don’t get along.
Today I ran some on the mountain! First time below 99 sr in a looong time. Down to 96.
This happened though...
I got sr down a couple times in 6 races.
Net gain 2500 dr. Great track.

2 stop seems to be the way to go, pitting on lap 5 (lap 4 is more susceptible to putting you in traffic) and lap 9

It should definitely be 2 laps.

Race B is way to short as well, 7 minutes. Should be 5 laps.

Why doesn't PD aim to make these races last at least 12 minutes. That's more than enough time for post race chat and re-enter, Race starts at :03 ends at 0:16, room closes at 0:19, minute left to re-enter. Done. Although you need to restart the game not to get thrown out at the loading screen.... Leave before the room closes, restart game only takes a minute at most.

I think you understood my point, if someone is going to pass someone has to be on the receiving end.:lol:
A person that gets mad and tries to ruin your race for passing him is idiotic and he will spend a lot of time getting passed even more. It wasnt an SR S lobby was it?

Wow Race A is miserable, 1 lap with the 86 (PD loves that car, oof... ) at la Sarthe.
That's a bad combo, dissapointing..

Many thanks 👍 Is that running softs only?

After 45 minutes of trying to beat my 1.29.4xx I finally hit a low 1.29.1xx only to be disconnected and it not save the time lol. Gutted.

You can run with racing hards and try no pit at all. Fuel is not a factor, you can run flat out and have plenty at the end.
I recreated the race in arcade mode/custom/professional difficulty and cannot win if I pit. It is very hard to maintain decent lap times at around lap 9 on but it’s an option for you.
Personally, I will run medium/soft combo and one pit for a decent result. I don’t enjoy fighting for grip to stay on the track.

In the GTR yes all softs, personally I had issues with tyre wear in the NSX but someone else in my races was managing to do all softs in the NSX as well.

Fresh softs have so much more grip, so any pitstop time is usually cancelled out but I haven't tried that no stop strategy so can't really say how it compares.

Ive seen some 2 stoppers win a couple times
he said soft med soft but at that point id say all softs is probably just as good.
so far ive only done soft then mediums, it seems alright but the tires are pretty poor after 7 or 8 laps, Ive done as many as 6 laps on softs but you're losing time to a guy who pitted behind you for sure. I think im gonna try a 2 stopper next for sure.

I think we have all met "that dude". Part that hurt the most was another racer that was running well blamed him AND me for causing trouble. I can't type fast enough on my wheel to defend myself before everyone leaves.
Guilty by association. Happens to all of us.

A couple of Daily Race Cs in the morning of December 25th!

05:00 Room
Car Used: Lexus RC F GT500 '16
Strategy: 7M&S/6S (the first letter is the compound used for the front tyres, while the second letter tells the rear tyre compound. 1 letter means that both front and rear tyres are the same compound.)

Got pole position, since it's a rather quiet lobby of 7 with me being the only A+ driver and the rest were B, C, and D rated and won the race by a massive 40 second margin! The mixed tyres strategy is all thanks to @kie25 allowing me to have an extended 1st stint and pit for a new set of Softs at the end of Lap 7, allowing for healthier tyres at the end.

05:30 Room
Car Used: Honda NSX CONCEPT-GT '16
Strategy: 5M/4S/4S

Another pole position, this time, a familiar Macanese flying a Hong Kong flag sits in 2nd in a GT-R, which gave me a slightly hard time as we streaked away from the rest of the pack. I knew the NSX was bad on its tyres from a test race I did yesterday, so I've decided to put Mediums on so that once I get into Softs, the fuel load will be less, allowing for a slightly better tyre life. So I decided to undercut the guy on Lap 5, opting for a 2-stop strategy. Then a lap later, the HK flagged Macanese guy pitted in for a 6S/7S strategy, which initially gained ground on me, but after I pitted on Lap 9 for a second set of Softs, his Softs dropped off at this stage to the point that I catched up to him on the Final Lap, eventually making a move on the outside of him with a slight tap on the rear, but no SR Down there, so I escaped away into the final sequence of corners and a slight moment out of the final corner to take my 43rd SM win!

I think you're right, softs are the way to go for me. The time in the pit is a fair trade for the speed/control gained. I will upgrade my pedals at some point allowing me to have more control over my inputs. This will help running without TCS and with worn tires (I'm hoping).
Thank you guys, if you discover a better strategy, please share if you would.

Whose idea was it to have a 4 and a half minute race where you don't have any input for ~half the circuit?
Whose idea was it to do this on a circuit where half the field will get launched into the sea halfway round the lap?

So I finally raced my first, and second, C races with the new tracks. It's gonna take me a while to figure this place out. I went 2 stop in both races, med, s, s. Started 10th in both. Ended finishing 6th and 10th. First race had me in 4th on the first lap due to attrition. I took a page from Sven's book and hugged the inside of turn 1, over the curb with my outside tires just touching the curb at the apex, drove out in 6th. First left and i basically did the same, came out in 4th. Didn't touch anyone because they all came in wide and too hot. Had a couple of bangers that bounced me wide in the double right and I finished the lap 8th. I think I had the pace to maybe get a podium, or at least 4th, but in my middle stint I was battling with 4th and 5th and not paying attention, and I missed my pit window. Should have pitted after 9, and I realized my mistake as I watched the pits go by while I started lap 11, so I put 6 laps on the softs. Didn't have enough time to put the last set to good use. Caught 5th and 4th but the race was over. Second race I met with "that guy" and he took me out 3 times before I finally avoided one of his attempts and got a gap on him. By then I was in 15th and my 3 lap old softs felt like the set I had 6 on the first race. Lap 9 I pitted and ran some good laps (for me) and got back to 10th. DR is over 20k for the first time. SR is 58. If I can just get to A I might be able to get better rooms and get back to S.

This was a kickass session I had.
Only did Race c.
Man, I love the gr2 cars! Super gt/jgtc cars were always some of my favourites. These cars aren’t far off from driving ability like a prototype.
Went with the 2016 GT-R, cause what else are you gonna use? Had a nice tribute livery to the Skyline Silhouette racer from the 80’s I stole.
First race was garbage. Don’t wanna talk about it.
Races two, three, and four were very successful races where I won.
I had a decent battle in the last one where my opposition was the Lexus.
Overall, can’t wait to do more race c and try race b in the Renault.

How come the game re-sets people?? I have looked at some competitors and its surprising how many people go from a steady increase up to B or A or even A+ and then suddenly they are 6000 DR and an SR in the 30s. Is that part of the game? I imagine if you do get re-set, you'd get a lot of race wins as you would be faster than your "new" low DR competitors. I can't see much other benefit if that is part of the game's intent...

It's when your SR rating gets too far below your DR rating, and so it then automatically adjusts your DR rating !!

'Nother race on the mountain. I qualified with the rexy and beat my Mustang time. That put me P11/14. @05XR8 was a full 2s faster... that gave him P9! It was a tough grid with only 3 DR/Ds.

Race get going and I grab a bit too much kerb at Hell Corner. Got a bit sideways but caught it. I pulled over to give the guy behind me room to get past on Mountain strait, and he just managed to get ahead approaching Griffins, but then braked at the 150 marker. I brake at 100 and drive the corner in 3rd. From there I opened a 2-3s gap for pretty well much the rest of the race. I kept sight of @05XR8 for the first lap... sort of, then he disappeared from my list. The sneaky bugger had managed to hide himself in a position that my list didn't show :p. I had a train of cars in sight for the last lap and a half, but just couldn't quite manage to catch up. People drove the way I was expecting them to drive yesterday. I didn't see any yellows, so I finished P11. As for @05XR8 ... that's his tale to tell :sly:. The WRX seemed to handle a lot better than the last time I raced with it. Discovered I had traction control off .

SR blue, DR dropped about 50... I can live with that :dopey:.

After my Early morning races in the Viper, I took a break. Pulled the covers off the "Drider R" and fitted some new shoes(Enkei RC130). With 3 minutes before race start, took too long to set my time. So, the Viper time put me as per above. Now, the Viper is solid as a rock, but I forgot how easy the Scirocket is. Pull 3rd gear as soon as possible at corner exit and it'll pull with the TT.

Stayed on the tail of the 7up TT as it was the pioneer for some hectic offs by other players. Navigated ghost cars and a couple wall riders. The 7up got held up on the 2nd lap T1. Plucked 3rd and gave it some index finger. Drag race up Mountain straight. I was slightly ahead, but eased off so we both didn't lose momentum, to the TT behind me.

Last lap, saw two Meganes collide at T2. The 7up was able to squeeze by at the bend. I had to be patient through Reid park, Skyline and even The Elbow. with the Megane ahead on 7.4 seconds red dunce cap, it decided to start shaving time. Got the spot at The Chase and sailed home.

Scirocco is phenomenal on the brakes. I feel, if we get some proper TCR cars or even fantasy versions, they'll be some potent weapons.
