Like others I've been finding Race B quite tough in terms of sportsmanship. I'd like to think that this is largely down to gr.4 being pretty evenly matched, and with the often wide lines into corners at Fuji results in multiple cars fighting for the same track space.

My SR has suffered but I was able to get some clean races in. You just have to give other cars bags of room and be really patient. I've found you can only really have fair fights when you KNOW the other driver is a clean racer and will be respectful.

What I've found really frustrating is that my qualy time is 1:42.0 (and I know faster is within reach) but I really struggle to get close to that in a race. I'm often being too cautious, that in turn invites interest from cars behind me and the cycle continues. My hope is always that cars behind me start fighting amongst themselves leaving me to do my own race, challenging those ahead where possible.

Just won race B from 10th in what would've been better described as a 'dirty or kick' lobby. Lucky the Huracan can take a punishment without spinning.

Started 2nd. Auto Drive was pegged in 1st gear(Atenza). Was getting passed by the 3rd place 86, at T1. Gave that player room. Got divebombed by a C7. Get swamped by maybe three cars in the hairpins to the final turn.

I just smashed a Huaracan that barged its way into one of the corners(no penalty for me or it). Lap 1!

That was my experience the last time they ran Gr4 at Fuji, and that's why I'm sticking to Race C. BoP kinda works a bit too well at Fuji so the other cars are always fractions of a second away, and if you back off to avoid the car in front, you get mauled by the pack behind you , who drive the track as if they were out on their own doing qualifying .

@Sven Jurgens or anyone else, What kind of times were starting where last night in race C? Is the Toyota TS050 the only car that can go the distance without fuel savings? How much disadvantage is it at on the straights? Thanks in advance for the info. :)

So far with AT the TS050 is the only one that makes the distance. However the top can short shift their way through with other cars without having to change fuel maps. Qualifying times ranges from 3:22 down to 4 minutes, your typical A+/S to D/S rooms where only the top 6 gets to finish the race, rest timed out.

TS050 won a race, Peugeot 908, R18, 919, and a R92CP however that as in the low SR.S room where I only finished 25 sec behind instead of timed out :)

Anyway a pit stop costs 22 or 23 seconds on your lap time and the out lap doesn't seem to be much shorter to make up a significant difference. So if you can't drive at least 4 seconds per lap faster without fuel saving, a pit stop is no go. (I did not change tires, only hard is allowed and they are still fine in lap 5)

With the R92CP I keep getting bumped and just feel like a towing service on the straights. Hybrids drafting me, then bumping me at corner exit to draft me again. I feel used.

The TS050 gets passed on the straight, however now you can try to hang on to the draft. It's not great without qualifying though as the knuckleheads in the back are not stable enough to draft without risks. The TS050 does great in the corners and acceleration, yet the backfield needs to calm down a lot before I can take advantage of that. I still go up 12 places from all the crashes and others racking up penalties. (Some completely ignore Dunlop and drive around with 15 sec+ as if that's the way to play the game)

The LM55 was useless to me since the fuel consumption was changed. Perhaps all the VGTs have different fuel consumption now as last year the LM55 and Tomahawk were not far behind the TS050 in fuel.

I have not tried the 919 yet. I can't stand that car as it keeps rear ending me.

TYVM for the info Sir, it’s much appreciated! :)

Well friends,
I have shown my true talent level in attempting to figure out the race A car. I thought eh I will try it maybe I wanna buy one...
I can’t figure out the handling, plus I’m horrible on that track I don’t even know where to be. For me, can’t do that combo.
.

Tc2 and asm. Done.

Is short-shifting the best way to save fuel? Last time we had this combo I was lift/coasting in the Porsche from before the first corner marker at each chicane (IIRC that's 300m) and not losing too much.

Indeed the tomahawk some time ago was easier to deal with fuel, this time around seems he is more thirsty! Still manageable - Or maybe I need to practice more :)

I don't know how much that saves, I only tru that when I'm already in FM6 on fumes trying to reach the finish.
Short shifting is apparently very effective in this game although it depends on the car. Plus drafting ofcourse. Even in the slow TS050 I get cars simply following me on the straight, coasting drafting to save fuel, then pass me on the last stretch to Indianapolis to block me through the rest of the track where the TS050 is faster. You're welcome, not.

Since I can't rely on my previous data anymore I'm going to retest the GR.1 cars for fuel consumption. Drive 4 laps in FM1 and see what percentage is left. I have some time this morning, will start with the popular cars.

Race B: Qualified with a 1.41.8... thought that was a respectable time, started 10th.. really 10th.... pole was over a second quicker than me. Back to the drawing board when i get home

I'm very far behind with my motor racing viewing. I finished watching last years N24 last week and started last years LeMans. Clearly @Sven Jurgens is a *way* better driver than any of the professionals. He can get clean race bonuses at Cirque du Soleil. If you follow the lines the actual cars at LeMans take, you will get track limit penalties... *lots* of them! :banghead:

Stubbornly sticking to my plan regardless of what the META is, next cab off the rank was the Sauber. I managed to beat my Jag time, which landed me P11/18. First 6 positions were DR/S and A, then a few Bs, then some Ds with another B and a single C. I was expecting to be the only Sauber on the grid. P2 was another Sauber... 10s faster than me  !!

The start was very awkward with the way auto drive let go. I somehow managed to avoid any trouble and got back the two positions I lost once I hit Mulsanne. I focused on trying to stay on track, and found myself in P7 at one point. Then things slowly started to unravel . I could see another car on the radar approaching Mulsanne corner, so I pulled aside to let him through, then three other cars crash passed their way through.. and *I* get the penalty :banghead:. After that I started collecting penalties .. 10s worth .

I had been short shifting my way around, but obviously not short enough. I started the last lap with 1/2 a laps worth of fuel left, in P10. Figuring that if I went into more extreme short shift mode and picking taller gears the race would time out before I ran out. I thought wrong :banghead::banghead::banghead:! Down to 80kph I pulled aside and trundled along. The car behind me that was 12s behind me caught up and despite me being no where near the racing line still got smashed up the rear.. and another SR penalty . By the time the race ended one by one I was passed, quite often driven through unnecessarily to finish P16. At least it wasn't last!

SR dropped from 92 to 87. DR dropped from 3247 to 2750. Another day above DR 1:rolleyes:.

Btw pitting in lap 4 seems fine since you're not changing tires anyway, it does make you waste a bit of fuel as the game won't let you go on early. I had 2% left at the finish in my first test. (Spamming the stop fuel button in the pits). I'll keep an eye on that as well.

I noticed that PD fixed the fuel warning!!! No clue when as this is the first time I paid attention to it again. Now it only seems to show up a few corners before the pit (1.3 laps left) then turn off again if you keep driving to come back next lap before the pit. Great job PD!

Daily B is an SR killer this week. I’ve been SR S at 90 to 99 points for45 days of racing. 3 races on Fuji and I’m 81 points. One player even says he reported me (not sure what that means) fo an incident where he simply drove into me, bounced off my car and ran himself off the track. Horrible stuff out there.

Edit: Race 4 & 5 because I’d dropped DR I got better grid; 6th to finish 4th & 5th to finish 3rd. Clean race bonus too. Still carnage at Fuji with zero respect being shown by many. Only hope is to get a good grid and try to escape the wreckage behind.

May I ask how you're able to stay above SR 90 so consistently? I went into Race A yesterday with an SR of 95 and left with 75  And that was just three incidents: getting punted into the escape area of Turn 1 twice in a row and going in for an overambitious overtake towards the end which got a bit ugly.

Do shortcut penalties affect SR as well? Because I recall not getting my SR boost for the sector after cutting Tertre Rouge @ Le Mans, for example.

That is a respectable time. Fast enough to get into the fastest room. If you had qualifies at 43 or slower you would have been in a room with slower guys. I imagine a mid 42 may have got you near the front.

You miss out on the SR points for that sector, however that's usually only a third point or so depending on the total number of sectors. Race A and B are only worth 5 to 7 points on average.

What can I say, I’m a nice guy. 1 big drop way back when they changed the penalty system and everyone got penalized just for logging on. 7 races on Fuji and I’m down to 75 points. I want to race but it is disgraceful behavior on the track today.

@NevilleNobody Agree on all counts.

Not a fan of the road card, Neither La Sarthe nor Gr1 suit me. I like Gr3 & Gr4 but not on Fuji.

If i was a dictator of the world i'd bugger off all these overly long and fiddly tracks like Fuji, Alsace, Sainte Croix (how bad is that!!!) and anything in reverse and replace them with Elkart Lake, Donington, Oscherslenen, Oulton Park etc. i'd also purge the game of anything rally related, just uses resources that could be spent on a low powered race car series like super tourers or GT5.

That's the thing about Gr.4, I'm a sucker for real life Production Car racing. Tonight's Manufacturers race at St. Croix, is going to be my highlight for the week.

Basically bring back TOCA Touring Cars 1 with modern graphics and new cars?👍

I started a second account last night (ajmiles_Inters) so I could see how high a DR I could get using only Intermediate tyres. Race A doesn't let you select Intermediates so I did 6 or 7 races in Race B last night down with the guys in B/C/D/E class.

I managed to get a 1:44:6 qualifying lap on Inters and I've generally been qualifying mid grid. To my surprise, the driver quality was much higher than I expected (main account is A+/62000). Traction is pretty good, braking isn't too bad but as you might expect the minimum apex speeds around Fuji's long sweepers and hairpins is considerably down on the people around me - I just have to make it up elsewhere!

I did get my DR as high as 2300 (D), but I think getting to 4000 for C class is going to be difficult on Fuji alone.

Here's the first race I did in the F-type - great fun!

The key for me in the Toyota is to be massively aggressive, every corner is win or lose for your race, if you're behind you need to get into the slipstream before the other cars drive off into the distance. If you're ahead you need to push for a gap, anything less than 1.5s makes you a sitting duck or allows the quick cars to sit behind saving fuel. The hybrid boost is crazy on the Toyota, you can pass Mazda's from half a second back on the straight between Indianapolis and Arnage!

I gained 7k DR points yesterday through being an annoyance.
Yes, you annoyed me by keep winning! Well done though, but please wave when you lap me.....
