Wheel stand arrived yesterday. A Trak Racer FS3.

Part of me hopes the next few weeks/month ish of daylies aren't much to my liking, while I get up to speed.
I have a Trak Racer setup, but with a seat etc. The new seat is fantastic. I've met the designer/owner, he's based in Melbourne, with an office and showroom in Brunswick. Makes it all in China. Hence he can sell in the USA.

My tip is to make the pedal platform horizontal. That way there cannot be any flex from the pedal platform flexing, because when you push the brake pedal hard, being horizontal, all the force on the pedal will be on the platforms bolts closest to you, and they won't be on the pedal platform. If the pedal platform is angled up, it will flex and damage your braking accuracy. The 3 seems a great unit. Good luck.

Brutal night. For some stupid reason I decided to enter Race C, I CANNOT memorise LeMans, so many corners look the same and have no reference for braking points.

Same here, I always get confused at that last complex just before the double chicanes. I think there might even be a brake marker back there that's off or something as there's always some detail that turns it all upside down and I'm on the wrong side of the track before a high speed turn.

Today was great! I finished 4th place and up in all of my races, including two victories when matchmaking worked massively in my favor. I got a really good DR haul, going from 37710 to 40803 and breaking 40k for the first time :D SR finally back to 99 as well! Despite all of this, I need advice...

Pace-wise I can compete with the people at my level, but I have a problem and that problem is fuel. I ended up buying the 908 and clocked a high 3:22 on my first (and only) Q lap with it (my PB is 3:22.102 in the R18), which means I'm fast enough in this car too. In the race however, I'm limited to FM 3 for a much larger amount of time than I'd like, and the rest is mostly FM 2. This means I usually can't get anything faster than 3:29 aside from a lucky (?) 3:27.5 I ran once. Meanwhile, the leaders can run 3:25s in the same car while saving fuel. The LM55 just outruns me on the straights and my top speed isn't good enough to offset the hybrids' ridiculous acceleration.

The TS050 on the other hand is better on fuel, but I still can't manage it well enough. I have to run FM 2 for more than half the race, so I lose out on the insane corner exits and everything breaks the slipstream on the straights. My best laptime in a race is around 3:27 I believe.

So... I need tips for fuel saving. Anything other than FM 1 seems to cripple my pace in both cars, more so in the 908 than in the TS050. I'm kinda regretting getting the 908 instead of the LM55 seeing as the latter is all over the top of the leaderboard. Should I farm another million and get the Mazda? Apparently it's worse on fuel than the 908...

Edit: Best race time in the 908 is 17:32, 17:33 in the TS050.

Thanks for your comments, all understood! I think the difference is I play in the Asian region, which is not as busy. So we don't have races of all the same DR (well, not in my experience but maybe someone can call me out on that?!). The races I join are generally S or A SR rating but the DR rating is anything from D to S, all in the same race. While my qually time might be within a few hundredths of the one or two other D players, it can be 5 seconds slower (on a quick track!) than the A or S DR players.

Your mileage may vary. A lot depends on the time of day, your SR and the race itself. If my SR is on 99 I'm more likely to get a mostly DR/D grid. Harder races like la Sarthe or N24 tend to have fewer DR/Ds... they are more likely to be in Gr3, 4 or one make races. I've had races with an all DR/D grid. Race C this week, not so much.

Brutal night. For some stupid reason I decided to enter Race C, I CANNOT memorise LeMans, so many corners look the same and have no reference for braking points. Hate it. Lost 1,000 DR points in one race.

Do enough laps and you'll remember it . I had the advantage of having done all the endurance races on GT4. Do the track experience a few times if you arn't confident. 👍

I am well and truly in the doghouse (SR:C) courtesy of Fuji and questionable penalties at Le Mans. Will tidy up at FIA races tonight.
Well same here. It seems people are dive bombing hit you then take the shortcut. For this, you get the penalty and they get a free shirt cut. The fact that it has miles of concrete run offs also means they do the same- srub against or hit you carry a lot of speed, run wide, lose no time and of course, you get the penalty.
I dropped to C last night. I stupidly kept racing again each time hoping to raise my Sr.

6BK
...

As for @Melbourne Park's observation, I dropped 29 SR points yesterday but my DR remained 12 to 13,000 points. My grids also remained the same, with 5th to 7th spot places. I did get one erratic race where there were DRS to DRB in one field and I was sitting on 13th only for the next race to be all DRB and me on 3rd.

As Seadog mentiond, the Asian region must be different. But when my SR went down 29, my SR -edit correction- my DR stayed the same. The next day I played at a different time, but the fields were easy for me. Their was havoc behind me though, but I was able to escape. I reckon faster DR B drivers and A drivers must be cleaner drivers, once their SR is likely A or S. Because they are better at car control. Hence SR "C" or "B" on average would be slower drivers. So getting a "B" SR after loosing 29 SR in on race, should put one against slower drivers.

But ... if one is not up the front of the grid, then it must be nasty, as those mid SR guys have less car control and may also be far more likely to loose their cool and become spiteful, or just loose control.

Just got a W in the TS050! I had a great battle with an LM55 until he pulled away as I switched to FM 2 (@Sven Jurgens MT is quite a bit more taxing on fuel than AT, I actually have to stay on FM2 for the majority of the race :(). However, he pitted on lap 3 and I ended up winning by half a minute.

My Q time is a 3:22.102 in the R18 '16. Speaking of which, let's give it a go...

My first step into GR1 this week, and I'm not fast! My qualifying is 3.30 in the Mazda but I've been running the Peugeot in races. Non-stopping on FM2. The majority of people seem to be avoiding pitting, if only they were so good at avoiding crashing into me!

Well that's odd. TS050 easily makes it ith AT, however I just tried a no stop in the Peugeot, starting in FM2, had to switch to FM3 halfway to barely make it, FM4 the last sector.

I got rear ended at Tetre Rouge by someone who didn't expect me to slow down... Some people like to actually drive on the track! That's it, I'm going to report everyone with a red dot after the race until PD gets the message to clean up this cheating mess. I'm tired of half ghosted cars everywhere on the track shaving off penalties while ignoring track limits.

I tried both the LM55 and 908. While LM55 is indeed faster, I still always run out of fuel (FM2/3 throughout entire race). On the other hand, I can make the 908 work on FM1 easily(!) by just short-shifting, which isn't terrible regarding pace either. Heck, the last two laps I usually notice I've been saving too much and have to push it a bit more to not end with leftover fuel.

That's thing though, people don't really know the track. Maybe Lemans needs a minimum qualy time and X amount of practice laps before you're allowed on, me included.

I think I've underestimated the importance of short shifting. I dismissed it because I thought it would slow me down more than changing the fuel mix. I'll attempt it next time I can get on.

Interesting to say the least . @Sven Jurgens have you tried MT and short shifting? If I have time, I'll try getting the LM55 as well.

I got a message that they will be performing maintenance on the system, tonight. I wonder what fixes they're making? Penalties, track limits, disconnect bug? Probably not. :(

Did a handful of race A last night and this morning. I still do not like the car or the track, but figure forcing myself to run it anyway will only improve me. I seem to be able to hold my position, finishing generally where i started or up a place or two cuse of others mistakes. I am having the most trouble with the final turn, i just cant seem to find a good line.

Gets a bit disheartening being thoroughly walloped every race! Which is why I don't go online much (but sometimes can't resist! :) ) Answer is, of course, to practice and get quicker!!

Yes, generally for me on EMEA if I am SR S then all in lobby will be SR S and if I am a low DR B then others will range from high DR D to low DR B but that’s less than a 10,000 point difference, and 2 seconds could split the entire field (not always) so in real terms we are up against drivers or similar ability.

I ran the R18 for two races last night, had to run FM3 about half the time and FM2 half the time to make it on fuel. Switched to TS050 and went FM1 the whole way no issues. Manual Transmission for all. All 3 were pretty lonely races, no one to draft most of the way, a little short shifting but not much. Typically running about 3:33 range laps (I’m Still coming to grips with GR1 cars at Lemans)

What times are you running? My experience is similar to yours but I lose a LOT of time on the left hander that leads to the back straight, other drivers are exiting faster and don't seem to be heading for the sand on the right like i am. The last turn hurts too because I am AT and she lugs onto the main straight if i get good corner speed.

I qualied with a 56.9, race in the 57's.

Surely I'm not the only one that knows the track  The track limits are very loose on Sarthe yet I'm still the only one without a red dot in way too many races. Just now a guy passes me again, first by ignoring Tetre Rouge then the actual pass at the first chicane cutting most of it short to shoot through the inside with 3.4 sec penalty flashing. This he served during the rest of the lap and before the finish.

The race would be completely different with penalty zones. Penalties have become part of race strategy. Bump someone off, ehh those 3 sec are easily lost, the other car loses at least 8 real seconds. Don't brake at Tetre Rough, only costs 0.5 sec, or 0.1 real seconds to lose that. Cut Dunlop why not, Chicanes, just smooth them out. Most of the time the cars cutting don't even get a penalty, yet are a very real obstacle.

Hence my earlier suggestion, deduct SR for going outside track limits. Penalties are not a deterrent. Deduct SR and the track cutters and those that don't know the track can be in each others way at lower SR races :)

My best lap is a 57.241, in race i am high 57's mostly. For that left all i can say is throttle controll! I am so gentle on the gas threw that and the hard right before it. Running the car with tc 2 (i can't drive it with less) brakes rear 3. I do not use csa and abs is on default. Oh and i drive AT

The track limits are a lot better than they were before, the only problem areas now are Tetra Rouge (you're allowed out to the blue area but it's hard to judge if you pick up understeer mid-corner) and Corvette curve where people run right out to the gravel on the outside (I don't think there is any time gain for that though). The rest of the lap seems to be okay, two wheels inside the white lines and you're good, as it should be.

Nah, I'll stick to AT. It would be nice if you could change the AT behavior to shift sooner next to fuel mix options. It's just a simple algorithm.

The problem is more that people abuse the track limits since the penalties are very small and easily lost. It does save a lot of time to abuse Tetre Rouge though and the chicanes are very loose as well.

I'm going to try the R18 next in FM3. The R92CP works for me with FM2 on the straight, rest FM3. Yet that slows me down to 3:31 lap times at best. Still faster than my Peugeot times in FM2 + FM3. The races are lonely though, no one to draft after the first half lap. Just finished 3rd in the R92CP.

Basically entire field had red dots in the races I entered, me included. I wasn’t intentionally cutting track limits but kept getting small penalties, especially in the two chicanes on Mulsanne by accident. I still haven’t quite figured out where the track limits really are in those sections, but the penalties scrub off so easily it doesn’t matter much. At my pace It wasn’t so much an attempt to get an advantage, I just had not enough practice to know exactly where turn in, throttle pick up points, etc are. Decided I’d learn the track by racing, rather than hot laps, and was careful not to make contact or hold up other drivers. Managed top 6 all 3 races. If we had FIA style penalty zones I’d probably rethink that approach.

Absolutely.I dont understand tracks having a defining white line but still being able to go wide,Tetre Rouge,T1 at Red bull ring,i know people will exploit a glitch for a quicker lap time but what do i know.
BTCC seem pretty hot on exceeding track limits but i saw a video clip posted on here of a nascar race going wide, over the line and people were loving it!Just my opinion,no offence meant.

Or, as someone suggested in another post, a minimum score on the Circuit Experience section. That would make a lot of sense.

That's a license test to me, which is a chore that I would not like to do ever be forced to do ever again.

Well, nobody is spectating the daily races so no need to create entertainment

The lines are very clear at Sarthe, only at Indianapolis they're a bit faded. 2 wheels on the kerb is fine everywhere, that's the outside wheels, not the inside ones :banghead: It would be fun if the blue sections got replaced with that green stuff that Suzuka uses.

Btw, R18 '16 makes it with AT in FM3 all the way. However it's slower than the R92CP that way :/ Ill try again as I didn't have a chance at a clear lap until lap 4 but it seems it's no use in AT.

My times are pants compared to the majority of people on this forum,i cant seem to get any better than i am so i`ll just carry on `bringing up the rear`:)Having my own race with myself, and maybe one or two others who are slower than me,doesnt bother me.I had a battle for 10th place with another guy on NGP,beat him to it due to a mistake on his part but all good fun,i thanked him,he also thought so and messaged me after which was a nice touch.

I would imagine there are a lot of people in the same boat as me, meaning that I literally have no clue, whatsoever what white, blue, green, yellow lines are supposed to mean. I suppose that will sound absurd to people who are really into FIA racing, or Formula 1, or whatever racing series uses these colored lines. If PD explained it, at some point in the game, like the way the explained the sportsmanship expectations, I missed it. If they didn't, then there's the problem.

Usually, when I get a penalty, I know why. Sometimes, I'm bewildered (looking at you, Red Bull Ring).

So, i trimmed my time down to a 56.9xx before my last race of the morning. Now i am gonna be late for work (not really, flexible start time) cuse i wanted to run a handful of laps to try and improve on that time since i seemed to have figuered something out. I kept shaving time every few laps and kept telling myself, k, this is the last one. Then i noticed i had run 30+ laps and it had been nearly 40 minutes

At least it was worth it. Time is down to a 56.540 with an optimal time of 55.963.

I don’t understand why they don’t just put out a map of each track with the track limits clearly marked for everyone. Then we all know what can be done where and are on the same page. Why keep them a mystery?

It should be an optional aid, just like the racing line. Clear lines where the limits are. Maybe PD is too embarassed to show the messed up track limit edges lol. On to TS050, I'm 2 sec per lap slower in the R18 with fuel saving, no use.
