...After another 50 laps in the Huracan I managed a 2:06.6. I will certainly try the Peugeot this afternoon.

I think another frustration has been that I have committed to tcs off, and 2 feet instead of just one. Its a learning curve that I hope pay off in the end.

That's about my time in the Hurican. Its worthwhile leaving the TC, but you can also turn it on and off during the race, if you are nervous about a particular part of the track. I don't think that looses your skill because in time you'll likely find its easier to forget about it and just leave it off. If I am back in the field at the start and the race may start at a chicane or corner, I'll turn it on to ensure I cannot spin going through a chicane when the starts etc., then turn if off on the following main straight.

About the Hurican and GTSport in general: its not fast to slide a racing car. It kills the tyres, it slows you down. Looking slow is typically the fastest way to race a real car. But in GTS, it seems they want us to slide some of the cars. I hate that, but its only a game. I reckon the way to drive the Hurican is to drive it very smoothly and look to slide it. I hate that, its not fun for me, but I guess for a whole lot of people out there, they might even think that is the proper way to drive. Racing on a track should not be a drifters' event. I understand too that GTSports rally part of the game sucks - that doesn't surprise me.

Let use know how your improving and enjoy it all, I have.

So, a no-stop is the way to go for Race C. I was curious as to why I was gaining places soo easily; it's because people were conserving fuel. I started 6th and ended up there, even though I was up in second at one point. Maybe I'll try again.

:gtpflag: B43C8653-A6A8-40BF-8639-1433EC4ADEB2.jpeg Well, I’m happy.
There’s too many mistakes in this lap, but since I gave advice in the other thread, had to prove it to myself.
Yes, I was dead on the money. Funny thing is I turned on tcs at 3. Boom without fear of sliding, a couple laps and I broke through my plateau.

You know, as much driving as I have done in my life, there’s no way I can switch to left foot braking.
I can’t rewire my brain after 30 years of manual trannies lol. That said, I don’t think it’s impossible to get fast in game with methods that are commonly said to be bad like right foot brake and TCS.

‘We salute you right foot brake tcs guy still working hard to improve’

I've had a pretty good week at Nurburgring GP, in the Lamborghini. I've had a win, a few podiums, and a good handful of top five finishes.

I'll likely skip next week altogether. I prefer longer races, and I'm not great at Suzuka. More wheel practice it is, then.

When your IRL ride has understeer you soon pick up left foot braking ;). In the words of Rauno Aaltonen "we have two feet and three pedals" :sly:.

Well played!
Damon Hill drove F1 and his manager said when asked why he doesn’t left foot brake-“It’s a case of, knowing it’s faster, but at age 38 not being able to get on with it”
Schumacher was a master of left foot braking, and everyone knows IF done well, it’s faster.
Again, well played!
Believe me after a month and a half, I couldn’t take it anymore...Reminded me of this...

I just finished the Group 4 race. I was braking for the turn, got hit from.behind, and my SR dropped. I.was hauling ass and driving like any other lap. This guy broke waaaay late and hit me. I get a 1sec penalty. WTF?!

I will never, ever understand why they implemented a penalty for being hit from behind. I know people brake check but it was hardly of epidemic proportions.

It's just asinine, creates more contact and one always feels vulnerable.

Drives me nuts at somewhere like ngp where to turn good times you must go slow in and fast out....but the rear ending is just brutal.

What a dirty evening at the Lake. It's just clearing up now after a whole streak of rooms with 60% to 80% red ratings.

Some highlights:

I got in a lengthy discussion with this guy whether his 'move' was clean
t0x8Lo1.gif

A late dive. I start braking right after the monitor, he's still nearly 0.2 sec behind, no time for an overtake. He brakes late anyway, has no overlap at all before turn in yet shoots besides me at the apex, small contact occurs. This would have been the end of it had he kept to the inside. Instead he punches the gas and pushes my back end out.
He's been defending this move for a while now (private messages) claiming we never touched, I left the door open, I was lagging. (He has the yellow connection, mine is green) However even if it was lag, his car would have stalled at the apex, not suddenly increase speed to push my back end out.
The game gave me SR Down for that while dropping from 4th to 11th. That happens far more often, yet what irks me is that people think this is ok and the game rewards them for this behavior. It's like, if you don't brake on the inside and take a shortcut over the white part -> you leave the door open...

Next, why I can't stand people blocking and swerving in braking zones
53e4nME.gif

The Argentinian is moving around in the braking zone to block the Canadian behind him. The Canadian swerves to the other side at the last moment knocking me with 2 wheels in the grass, no traction and spin. SR Down for me.

Next, lag lag lag everywhere. Although in some rare instances it can be very advantegeous
InCiPJr.gif

The teleporting 1 bar connection takes out the 2 yellow connections and himself, good job!

And another plea to please use TCS if you think you might spin out.
32EJlb8.gif

Mr Ford not being able to control his car cost me 5 sec penalty and -11 SR.

Despite getting screwed by the penalty system, lag and aggressive drivers over and over and over, still we keep coming back for more. Racing is one part skill two parts insanity. Anyway I quit after getting 2 clean race bonuses in a row, DR slightly down still, SR safely at 99 to start the bus stop derby tomorrow. My best lap on the lake was a 1:57.7 (never bothered to qualify), best finish, couple 3rd places.

Another reply, "If I bumped you, the server would have logged it for both of us". How do you explain lag and asynchronous clients to someone who doesn't want to listen. Perhaps the secondary bump was due to lag as shooting forward is also possible from lag (he could have briefly touched the gas, lagged info to my console and my console thought he pressed the gas a lot longer) That doesn't change the fact that he had no claim to the apex in the first place. Compensate for lag, keep a margin, the game is not real time. Stop diving.

One or two of those is just racing. It happens and I'm okay with that.
But when people think they are entitled to stay on the racing line, though I am passing them on the inside, so they proceed to turn into me...spinning me off course with penalty while they merrily go on my way? That's frustrating.

Was in a few of the same races at the lake with ya... some dirty driving for sure, i somehow I got all the way to a 2 clean race streak. I also managed to spin it all by myself, untouched, tc on... twice, you know, cuz I suck. Nothing like sitting backwards in the middle of the track watching the whole field drive right through you. One more then onto the bus stop o death...

I'm not sure. I won a race in 18:32 in the Trophy, and the runner-up Hurican could run a 2:054 in the race, I only beat him by 1.3 seconds, he was coming on quickly. its not certain what strategy is best IMO. The benefit of stopping is that you can go quickly and hence avoid crashes. When people are faster than you, you risk them smashing you up. Against the Japanese fast guys they seem annoyed that anyone would drive without stopping. They are skilled at lining up a car in front of them at the end of the main Nurb F1 straight, belting into it and then off they go. If your the victim, you won't catch them either unless by a pitstop. I had a race were I got bumped off I think 4 times ... so i thought time to use the pitstop. Haven't won a race though when pit-stopping.

That move in the GT is suprising to me. I was driving that tonight, and in that corner if carrying a lot of speed, it can get loose under full throttle, but it's very controlable. Usually a tiny steering correction will gather it up, if not, all you need it to backpedal for a fraction of a second. That car has good torque and likes short shifting, so many times when it breaks loose like that all you need is an upshift to get it stuck again, with really no time lost.

Such BS, man. I did all that work. No stop in the Atenza. Just followed a Slophy all race. Come out the last corner in 4th. A Huracan must have run out of fuel. it's on the racing line and a fast approaching fresh tyre Huracan is behind me. I tried for the inside of the slow moving car and hit its rr corner, slowing me down and the Huracan behind gets the podium. PLUS, I don't get a clean race bonus. Just trash.

TTM
Don’t see you. :(

Naw, I forgot I got bumped down to lower SR S last night. I was in the lower room. Ran away with it by 8 seconds, back up to SR 92 now. :)

Edit: There you are, I think I may have been able to keep up if I hadn’t gotten stuck behind Joe, he was making me drop down to low third in the chicane and I couldn’t get enough of a run to get up the hill to catch ya until the third lap when I got around him in T1. I did manage to steal FL from you at least though. :D

Great race, always a pleasure man. Congrats on the Dub! :)

Since I was not allowed on the site I had total and complete meltdowns of my stats.

It all started with the ITR race at Suzuka. What a nightmare. A hand full of races taking hits and penalties, getting punted just a total crap fest. I lost my cool on some dudes just taking people out on purpose. My mind was like Im just tired of putting in so much effort to follow this guy clean and when I go to overtake he runs me off the road, I lost my stuff and stated hitting back. I punted this bozo twice to keep him from winning. I didnt care about how I finished just not letting the jerk win was all I cared about.

I took some huge hits to my stats but still recoverable.

Had same drama in the Stang at Willow with replays showing guys driving people off the road on straights banging them out mid corner literally steering into them.

The races switch over and we get Gr4 at Fugi. I'm thinking cool. Its a recent repeat but I did good so I hope to do good again. NOPE

It starts off good building my way back up but I got into it again with a couple of guys from Brazil who drove clean as long as they in front, but go to pass them or they fall mid pack and they hit everybody (even did a video on them) them too.

Losing my cool I get some get back where if the guys hitting people on purpose to keep the lead I punt him to oblivion

Dr 3k Sr 1

In Fuji Gr4 I kept getting to Dr 25k SR A but losing it all running into those bozos again. Or some other Bozo doing the same thing.

The stats were crazy on the way up and how my 1:42 time was getting me on poll was odd to say the least.

At the lowest ranks my Q time had my in 8th or 9th but I move up to to D or C and I'm getting poll then B I'm back in 8th or 9th move up to A I get poll.

I've gotten to 25k Dr and A SR about 5 times from Dr 3k Sr 1

I ended up getting DR B SR B after races switched and I nailed a good q time for the one make race. Ran a bunch of clean wins then stopped Thursday cuz the crazies come out on the weekend

Im getting close to 100 wins its been 32 days in Sport

Oh so now every week has to feature at least one japanese track, mainly Suzuka.
In a perfect world they should add a fourth weekly.

On another note don't you guys hate it when the car ahead starts zigzagging in order to cut the slipstream? And the problem is that most of the times they en up botching the next turn and when you try to pass them they get mad because you ruined their master plan so of course they ram you out of the track.
So silly.

They look like drunken fools cry about be clean. Dude you were on the infield then swung back to the racing line last second and hit your brakes directly in front.

That's wreakless driving just straight up Jerk moves.

I've had best part of a week off just playing with wheel settings and brake bias. I wanted to focus on Nurburgring last week, learning how the Tyre deg and fuel weight works, but literally EVERY SINGLE RACE I went into, I was used as a braking implement on the first lap, every single time it was the same story, stuck behind a gaggle of cars all bumping each other so I either try and make a ridiculous move and hope they all move out of the way, or I try and pick them off one by one, I am sat on the bumper of the car in front slow corner, smashed into from behind and not lightly either enough to put me in the gravel every time and as I was racing TCS0, stuck in the gravel watching the field go past, thats pretty much it. 3 races in a row yesterday.

The irony is, if I was being aggressive and trying to play bumper cars with the guys in front it probably wouldn't have happened, down arrow each and every time! I may try bumper cars this week as being courteous doesn't seem to get you anywhere.
