Tale of 2 races last night for me which leads to a question about etiquette.
Both races I start second. Race One, pole sitter has a time over 1.5s quicker than me, so sat on the start line, me being the nice guy I am have already decided to let him have his win. I have nearly a second on P3, so he has 2.5 seconds on most of the field, no point engaging, easy room for him. However on run up to the esses I am literally on his bumper and could probably pass, he is taking the racing line and I have a massive closing speed, however I decide to follow him through and try to keep up, hopefully learn where he makes time, check my mirror and have a decent gap certainly enough to get through unscathed, *smash*, some clown completely takes me out from behind, I end up in the barrier and go from second to last as he hit me that hard. Recovered to finish 8th. Now this wouldn't have happened had I gone for the lead.
Second race, exactly the same situation on the start line pole sitter massively quicker, this time I am not even considering being passive. Run up to the esses I get alongside him on the inside nice bit of oversteer on turn in gives me a cracking angle for the uphill run, its my corner, he is going to have to pass me at some point, however he cannot have checked his radar as he turns in like I am not even there even though I am alongside, his little Lambo bounces off my Veyron and he quickly falls down the order and rage quits.
From thereon I build a nice 8 second gap by lap 3 and coast to a win. However, I cant help but feeling bad for the guy. So I guess the question I am asking is, "how the bloody hell do you play this game"

Was I stupidly passive in race one, or overly aggressive in race 2?
