I actually don't do that. There are some turns in the Central Outer Loop that I'll "tightrope" where I stay on the driving line (I have the driving line enabled) without actually making contact with the wall.

Thats fine then. The video you posted is indeed an example of what they are doing, except at this version there are even more walls to ride.

I like the Evo VGT car, thing is on rails and glued to the road.
.

I like it a lot as well! So stable even without TCS. Got a good qualifying time of 1:40 ish and will wait until tonight when the kids are asleep to run a few races.

Was really excited for Race B today, the EVO VGT one make, as I really like that car, and I love Dragon Trail. I'm not sure if I got super unlucky with the crowd, but I had what was probably the dirties race in my 50+ Sport Mode races so far .. and this is SR S. Got rammed three times off the road and finished 2 places from last place. I've never quit mid race, but I have also never been as close to is :banghead:

Might make another run later tonight, when my temper has calm :D.

I've been SR S for a little while now, but I can't help but feel that the time when I was SR B and SR A , the races were cleaner and more enjoyable. Anyone else have the same experience? :confused:

Evo Race is very fun and competitive, got my Dr. A now finally.

EDIT:

Was at around 32,000 DR points, game lags out then my tv resets randomly in middle of race and I'm kicked to 16th place. Brought down to 30,000 and some points. What in the heck was that?

Little question to you, dear drivers:

Well, I'm pretty new to this GT and I'd like to know how the skill rank works exactly.
I aim for the Platinum trophy but pole positions and victories (concerning 2 trophies) begin to be quite hard to get at my rank (B).
Is there a solution to downgrade a bit? I'm scared to go to rank A, at this rank, trophies will be a real pain to obtain...

You can back out of races and it will drop your DR. But how many poles and wins do you sit at currently? Also, what level are you at? (As in 1-50 not your DR level)

@Sven Jurgens

I think I raced with you in the Mitsubishi Daily Race B, sucks you keep getting hit off by people.

Likely, it's a 3 day weekend here and after going out this morning I've been racing in between stuff since 13:30
I worked myself through a string of dirty races at Dragontrail, however it cleared up 2 races ago and I'm back on track.

Mon Feb 19 2018 13:51:48 -> DR:29358 | SR:99/99 | Races:1246 | DPUR:97 13th -> 8th Clean race bonus
Mon Feb 19 2018 14:12:34 -> DR:29334 | SR:99/99 | Races:1247 | DPUR:97 12th -> 8th Hit chicane once
Mon Feb 19 2018 14:31:48 -> DR:29661 | SR:99/99 | Races:1248 | DPUR:98 14th -> 7th Clean race bonus
Mon Feb 19 2018 14:53:32 -> DR:28856 | SR:92/99 | Races:1249 | DPUR:94 15th -> 15th Dirty race, time penalty from car crashing in front
Mon Feb 19 2018 15:11:31 -> DR:28501 | SR:92/99 | Races:1250 | DPUR:93 14th -> 11th Dirty race, yellow flag penalty, clipped wreck
Mon Feb 19 2018 15:32:39 -> DR:27661 | SR:92/99 | Races:1251 | DPUR:88 13th -> 14th Dirty race, Dive bombed, then forced off road for penalty
Mon Feb 19 2018 15:51:32 -> DR:28005 | SR:91/99 | Races:1252 | DPUR:90 9th -> 14th -> 7th Dirty race, requalified to start higher
Mon Feb 19 2018 16:15:42 -> DR:28801 | SR:95/99 | Races:1253 | DPUR:94 6th -> 3rd Dirty race behind, Clean race bonus
Mon Feb 19 2018 16:31:58 -> DR:29406 | SR:99/99 | Races:1254 | DPUR:97 5th -> 4th Clean race bonus
Mon Feb 19 2018 16:52:03 -> DR:29972 | SR:99/99 | Races:1255 | DPUR:100 6th -> 5th Clean race bonus

On track to where though, just nastier racing the higher DR goes lol. Clean race streak at 3, I wonder who will break it!

I'm B/A with currently 17 poles, 11 wins and 35 finished races.

Those are solid numbers. Why don't you feel like you'll get 91 wins and 65 poles? The poles especially aren't that bad if you spend an hour or so qualifying beforehand. And sorry I meant what level as in 1-50

I'm level 28 considering the XP that I won online is only from those 35 races, all the rest is from offline.

Percentage to next level, it's what the bar shows on the profile page.

Yay, another clean one, at least at the front

Mon Feb 19 2018 17:11:48 -> DR:32013 | SR:99/99 | Races:1256 | DPUR:10 6th -> 4th Dirty race behind, Clean race bonus (4)

2000 bonus points for crossing to A again.

I hate to tell ya but getting to level 50 is going to be your toughest task due to the absolute absurd amount of XP it takes. IIRC Going from 46-50 takes as much if not more XP as 1-45. I have over 300 hours of play time and hundreds of wins and I'm only level 40 which isn't even close to being halfway. PD made it to where you have to dedicate your life to grinding XP in the campaign by doing the same races over and over again. It's just ridiculous. Otherwise it literally could take you years depending on how much you play.

:eek::eek:
Oh god, didn't knew about that. I thought that the 2 trophies that I talked about would have been the hardest to obtain...
Level 50 isn't so hard after all, just a waste of time lol.

I thought the same. The 322 races I thought would take the longest until I stumbled across this thread:

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/thre...-need-to-advance-to-next-driver-level.364538/

Just insane. I think most of the people that are level 50 already got it through some sort of XP glitch before PD patched them.

Winning at Dragon Trail by 2 seconds, ahead of a few other S ranked drivers, 2 corners to go....

...dumbass I live with restarts the router without asking. I disconnect. Lose 2000+ DR Points that I've been building up very nicely today. ****ing brilliant.

If my missus did that in our house she’d be living back at her mums for a week

Whether "downgrading" is necessary depends on your skills but in any case: focus on the A race and stay away from Gr. 3 and Gr. 4 races, the number of skilled players is significantly higher in these classes, so the one make A race is usually much much easier to win.

Plus the One Make A Race only has 12 drivers as opposed to 16,20 or 24 (FIA)

that too yes.

Regarding the downgrade: you could do the 15 clean races achievement, which to be safe means running alone in last place following the field. That will give you some hit to your DR.
Also you can just crash hard into the walls/boundaries in a race a couple of times and kill your SR, which also means you will be matched with lower SR ranks, which effectively means you will be matched with lower DR / less skilled drivers (as pretty much all of the good drivers have SR S, even the dirty ones...).

...but please don't be a dick to the other drivers. If you spend some time putting in a good qualifying time and start from pole often then you can reach the 91 wins probably within the 322 races, so no need to be dirty.

Dragontrail has gotten dirty again yet I've been able to avoid the chaos, almost matched my previous 'naturally' obtained clean streak of 7

Mon Feb 19 2018 17:31:43 -> DR:32476 | SR:99/99 | Races:1257 | DPUR:12 4th -> 5th Let dirty driver pass, Clean race bonus (5)
Mon Feb 19 2018 17:52:22 -> DR:33046 | SR:99/99 | Races:1258 | DPUR:15 6th -> 3rd Thanks to dirty drivers crashing each other, Clean race bonus (6)

Dinner time first. Considering I was dropped to 7000/1 on Saturday (for draft bumping) DR recovery is moving fast. I guess I did cause some deflation by taking over 30K points out of the system in the reset. I wonder if kudos prime can calculate the total number of points in the system.

What's that? Do I need to update my script, I don't have that.

Maybe I'm using an old script? I got it from here originally
http://www.kudosprime.com/gts/stats.php?extend=y

It's percentage to next level

Mon Feb 19 2018 18:51:39 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time) -> DR:33224 | SR:99/99 | Races:1259 | DPUR:16
10th -> 7th Dirty race, hit from behind yet kept Clean race bonus (7)

so 16% into DR.A.

I've matched my maximum clean streak while racing full out, in dirty rooms no less, wonder how long my luck will hold out!

Edit: I must be using an older version K'1.2 on my toolbar. Yep K'1.5 leaves the last bit off.

Oh well, bye bye clean streak
Mon Feb 19 2018 19:11:34 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time) -> DR:33227 | SR:99/99 | Races:1260 | DPUR:16
10th -> 9th Dirty race, avoided dive bomb and extremely laggy player in front yet tapped laggy player (no impact to his line) when he broke early after not braking early for 3 laps, clean streak reset.

Thanks for checking! :)
I also checked and there is no newer than 1.5 which leaves that out, but now that I know what it means I think I can live without it :)

And about the clean races: the most I had was 6, so last Saturday I just decided to just don't to a quali lap in the Swift Miyabi race A and follow the field from a safe distance for 15 races. Was kinda funny still and in one of the races I even managed to get the fastest lap while in last place.

Just did an FIA manufacturers race (mixed DR C/B SR S), jeez all those divebombs and shoving, I'm lucky to finish 6th without a penalty out of all that. I had thought about revenge but I decided to just stick to racing my race and it paid off after divebombers making their own mistakes allowing me to get my positions back.

There was a Brazilian right behind me going full throttle into a turn and I knew he was headed for my bumper so I quickly hugged the inside corner and away he went past me off the track.

The best way to deal with dive bombers is to force them to out brake themselves.

This guy dive bombed me the precious lap then kept blocking, including out of the last turn and all along the straight. Yet in that little turn right he had no choice but to leave an opening. All that was needed was to threaten his inside and watch him hit the brakes too late as he's waiting for you to brake.

Racing is half driving skill, half psychology :)

I really hope the next update comes with more balance for the Group 4 class. Going by qualifying pace, there’s a slight advantage to some cars but I’m having no trouble setting times similar to people I consider to be at the same level as me despite not using the ‘meta’ car (I use the Viper). Though come race time, I constantly feel like I have a battle on my hands due to the disparity in fuel and tyre consumption.

Dragon Trail a few days back wasn’t too bad, I still had to save more fuel than those around me in M4s and TTs, while the Vantage drivers seems to struggle a little too, but I at least had a pace advantage for the most part which made up for it and I was able to rack up a couple of wins.

This race at Lago Maggiore, though, just feels completely unbalanced for me. Going flat out, I’ll just lose out massively due to tyre wear first, then in the pits when I have to take on more fuel. If I try to conserve, I just end up too far behind by the time my pit stop comes around, with tyres that are still thrashed in comparison to the competition.

On the other hand, I do enjoy playing the role of the underdog... but I’d much rather be in contention without having to change cars.
