Driving through you is worse. You can't see anything when their ghosts overlaps your car, then they go solid right in front of you and you can't go anywhere. All without any problems or penalties for the diver. Yet if you hit the diver that just went right though you and is now full on the brakes trying to saving the corner, you get a penalty! The game should reset them when emergency ghosting has to kick in. That will stop it quickly....
Actually - not always is it bad. I started the game collecting cars and to do so I needed money, so I drove the KTM on the oval; the bonus points in theory got one about 450,000 for 10 minutes, all up I think 13 minutes for 450,000 or so, plus heaps of experience (although I don't know what experience actually achieves).
The problem was - I only earned the bonus once in 16 races ... then someone here told me - look out behind you. I thought I was, but I did a lap with the view from behind the car - and sure enough, entering the long curve before the main straight, robot cars would suddenly go like a land speed record vehicle, come up, and touch your left side rear panel. That got rid of the bonuses because one had achieved a penalty.
So I drove all about up 90 odd races from behind the car.
Now, the funny thing is, I cannot drive that way on a normal Euro races track. But on an oval - I am fast driving that way. I won over 20 races last week at the BB track. And in one race, I was lapping the seventh car - and he merged with me, and stayed with me until the main straight, following my line precisely. Being behind the car - it was no problem, and the slow chap stayed with me for half a lap until the entry to the main straight where I guess it was not so easy to steer right. In a pre-race practice, I averaged in 10 laps under 33 seconds, including the first lap which is slower, so weirdly, that method can work. I also find it very easy to get close to a corner wall with that view, because on a corner wall, the behind view shows the side of the car, in its middle. You cannot see that from any other view.
Just saying ...
