the car whose gear ratios and downforce settings are best suited will generally dominate.
Completely agree with you on this point. In race B with Gr.4 cars at the Tokyo Expressway - Easter Outer Loop city track, the Aston Martin Vantage was clearly the 'best' car for that particular track. I simply didn't have enough time and motivation to learn the handling of the Aston and adapt to the car to a level where I could be competitive enough, so nevertheless I tried the race with the M4 as I know what I can expect from the car.
I can't compare the handling of both cars as I never drove the Aston, but on the long straight the Aston Martins clearly had a top speed advantage even without using slipstream, so that the time made up in the corners was still lost on the long straight where you don't need any talent to floor the gas pedal and stay behind the car in front of you.
The result was that I used every slipstream possibility and after the long straight in the more technical sectors of the track, I was able to follow most competitors on fuel map 2. In some corners other drivers chose their lines so badly that they often scraped the walls and I touched them slightly from the back as I had a higher corner speed and was going too fast to change my line quickly enough to avoid them, and then the clever penalty system penalises you with orange SR for htting the car in front of you :irked: :yuck:

I read Gr.1 was today, gutted it's at Interlagos though. I'm not very good at that track. I'll have a crack at qualifying after work, see how it goes.

One car dominating a particular track is a weakness of fixed settings as on a track like Monza the car whose gear ratios and downforce settings are best suited will generally dominate.

Which is why they should let us change suspension, transmission, aero, & lsd settings while still using the BOP system. Instead of watering the game down with fixed setups.

Also give players the ability to download setups from other players on the leaderboards to prevent unnecessary whining about it being "unfair".

They added Gr. 1 to the Daily Races today starting with Interlagos. Good luck.

Race C is Gr. 4 at Dragon Trail but tire wear is at x14 and fuel is x5 instead of the usual x4. I think this means even if you go for a low fuel map you will still have to pit for tires anyway, so set the fuel to be as fast as you need so you run out when you need to get new tires. I'm gonna go FM1 as usual and see how that works. Not today though as it's the 24H of Daytona, starting at 2:30pm EST

I'm expecting the Gr 1 lobbies to be absolute madness. The faster the cars get, the more chaotic the races become from my experience in racing games.

OT: I'm also looking forward to Daytona! Very interested to see how Alonso and Norris do there.

I’ve experienced the opposite. GR4 races are the worst for carnage.

They really are! At least in Dr B / Sr B.
People just keep on divebombing and ramming on purpose, its ridiculous.
Im trying to get back to Sr S as fast as I can. Lowering my Sr just wasn't a good idea at all :scared::lol:

I am dr a and sr s and for me Gr4 has been some of the cleanest racing I've experienced, compared to some of the things I've experienced in previous Forza S/R/P/X lobbies and F1 multiplayer.

Totally agree! I have done 4 races now, there where some dumbs in there, but at all i can say: No crashes in the middle field at the fist s-corner right after start and pretty great races. Coming always from position 9-12 in top five, and always very clean and fair. Im so excited here on dragon trail. As i can say, very less overtaking attempts in the corners or the chicane, and many overtaking at the long straights. Makes much fun and i'm really surprised about that!

Me: Hey, Matchmaking, what a beautiful day, how you doing?
Matchmaking: Nah, leave me alone, i'm drunk

And take please notice of the total duration time... :odd::odd:

3 races done on the Gr.4 10-lap. Last one was quite funny, guy in front of me (I was 2nd) ran out of fuel on the last lap, and I passed him as he slows down. He was 4-5 seconds in front of me the entire race.

Love using the Vantage Gr.4, easy to learn and sounds amazing.

Interlagos GR.1: Well, sometimes there are really stupid very good drivers in the race. Starting from position 2 with qualifying time of 1.19.5, first has 1.18.9, very good time. You know that green area with white line before the finish, where you can enter the pit on the left side? On every round he cross that green area, and get penalty. Ok, he try to get more difference between him and me. Worked. gives him about 100ms... But he does that in round 5 too... difference was a second in round 5... he got 3 secs penalty and finished then at second place.

Really, i have no idea why. But thanks for this win :-)

I only did one race today which was the Gr4 Dragon Trail and it was actually really clean, fair and fun. I managed to gain 8 positions by having a slightly different strategy. I accidentaly closed the door on one guy that was beside me as I wasn‘t looking at the radar when aiming for the apex but it didn‘t cause too much trouble I guess :)
I ran out of fuel 100m before the line tho

Finally got a flawless race since 2 days. Managed to pole in the FIA Event at Nurburgring! :O
Everyone was driving 911s (a few Mercedes and BMWs in the mix) and I'm the only one with a Lexus. Had a start finish races without mistakes and the fastest lap too.
I felt like Lewis today :p

Still at B/B though...

Once you‘re at B/S I hope we meet, I‘m always excited to race fellow gtp members

The Gr4 at Dragon is intense today, had two great races and one good but slightly paintwork-exchanging race. Wish I'd put in quali earlier as I was entering the field P13 with a modest 1.45.5, needing to finish 7th for DR gains. First race made it up to 5th, second race 6/7th and third race 8/9th. Pretty pleased considering some tough competition! It's so easy to fluff up the 2nd half of Dragon when on the limit, going full throttle through the chicane is bum clenchingly thrilling!

Do I lose SR/DR if I quit a daily race before it starts?
Got some "SS" driver (or more like ass driver) that is often doing the same races as I am doing and I absolutely hate that dirty ****, so I'd prefer not even start a race against that idiot if he's matched to the same race as no good will come from it. Let him have his dirty wins, I rather crash a Gr. 3 car than drive in the same race as this idiot.

Yep once matchmaking has commenced I think that's it, so could be a big loss on points. Who is it?

Yay finally a Group 1 daily! They should've been doing these much earlier. I don't think I've ever won a race first time out with any car, but it's what I managed to do in the Porsche 919 yesterday. No one came close to me and surprisingly, there wasn't much mayhem.

The chicane at Dragon Trail has cost me dear a few times today. Just have to leave a big gap to the car in front until the later laps.

Some absolute knobhead driving on there, too, but not enough to ruin a good few hours of racing.

I‘m still asking myself why or how he manages to stay in SS. Absolutely unbelievable. Such a dirty and sneaky mfer. I hate that Guy.
And yes you‘ll loose around 1200Dr for quitting and some SR too.

I Have no idea of who you're talking about but I know a S/S guy like that, who's often in the top10. That's a sign the SR system is being played and not working as it should.
