Hehe :p
Speaking of which, might give it a ho with the Citroen :)

Funnily enough I didn't use it on gr. 4 this weekend at all  Friday I used the Genesis and TT, Sunday the Genesis :) I like the freedom of driving without TCS. I feel the Citroen just bog down when coming out of corners with TCS on and I can't drive it without yet.

I do recommend the Citroen as an alternative to the M4. Do try when you learn to play without TCS :) Just used it today and set a 2:04.024 with lots of room for improvement. And you're gonna want that curb riding ability ;)

The Genesis is also a very fun car. Used it way back then as a manufacuter's car and yielded decent results. Not the fastest of the bunch, but easy to drive and stable (both Gr. 3 and 4)

The double cones are a good guide, but unfortunately if you brake there you end up with people on here whining about the "guy in front with no race craft who brakes too early". Usually the ones who didn't bother to qualify. The other major drawback (since I use the cones ) is since they are physical entities, people can wipe them out. This caught me out in a big way at the second chicane at Monza. It hurt!

Yeah, this. It's also a potential hindrance as the cones can make their way onto the track and upset your car... also, they only actually obstacles to those who have them turned on. Additionally, there are plenty of decent markers... curbstones, distance boards etc... to use :)

I’m down to 7K DR. Perhaps the biggest drop of my Sport Mode career. I keep getting matched up in grids with C-E class drivers (as a B). Not only is my DR struggling since the update. I keep getting abused by other drivers. It’s been like this since this week’s update. It’s not all that fair considering I was earning good DR after the previous update and had some clean streaks. What the hell is going on?
I kinda get the impression that matching is based more on SR than DR. As a DR/D I quite often get matched against you guys (A/B) because of my SR/S. It's no picnic at our end either.

SR is matched first, yeah...

I was surprised how clean the races were today! 2 clean race bonuses in a row....on Interlagos!? Damn :D

Indeed... I had 2 clean races before my disaster. A very welcome change to how it used to be :)

Aye, 32.786. That's my best time at Lagos I believe.
@Alpha Cipher, and other 1:31.xxx peeps, what car are you using?
As expected, I'm slinging my Viper around here
I usually stay away from Gr. 3 races because I never really know which car to pick. The 458 Italia was my go-to at first, but it’s fallen out of favor. Can anyone recommend another good car in that class? I’m sure they’re all solid. I’m just unsure.
The Lexus :gtpflag: and basically the only one as well... amongst everyone else in 911s

Btw, as I’m on tour and can’t check right now. What are the FIA races for today?
On tour?!

This game is stupid. Weird thing happened today.
I managed today race C qualy 2:10.7 in the Audi TT ( could have been 2:10.2 if all went well), but for some reason in the start list only showed 2:13.0, achieved with Cayman on some previous attempt. So instead of starting p3 I had to start p11.
This happened to me too! I think if you set a time in qualifying having already entered the race, sometimes it doesn't verify it before matchmaking... even though after the race my correct best was updated.

PD has blue moon as a daily and FiA race. GG pd...Thanks for the reminder about how small the track roster is.

I did try on the weekend but it just spins as soon as I leave a corner! I will do a few laps tonight to see if I can get down past 2:06 then try in the Genesis and see which is best...

Yeah, weird eh... not only that but they are both 20+ laps and group 3.

I got into the Europe Top 10 (2:03.609), so that says something ;) if anything, I've set a faster lap in the Citroen, and I feel like I can do a bit more

Yeah I hate when they do this. They did it a lot a few weeks ago. When they plan it like this, it makes their small track roster feel ever smaller. Also, it just seems lazy although I would hope it's unintentional.

Congrats :)

Will try both and see how I get on.

I'm still amazed at how much better my Interlagos time was to my previous... reckon I am learning from racing in the higher ranks. The other thing I notice about being in A is how very few mistakes are made. I sit there and expect at least 1 or 2 people in front of me to leave the track or brake late, as I have become accustomed to, and as long as I stay consistent will gain a couple of positions... however, it just doesn't happen (except me )

Thanks

I agree, racing at high ranks really does feel like you're levelling up. Being able to observe fast and proper race lines in real time, and applying them to your own really is different to watching Top 10 replays. And yeah you also learn how to properly overtake

If this were the Blancpain series, we'd only race at 7 tracks(5 in the Sprint races) anyway. Realism ;)

Thanks

Yes, indeed... and the other incredible thing is the etiquette amongst the higher drivers compared to lower ranks. It feels more "real" :)

The replays are amazing too, at higher levels... watching 16 or 20 cars race almost flawlessly for 5-10 laps, with the camera angles and graphic quality... I sometimes just watch race replays for fun

A trip with my girlfriend to her parents. Felt like the Grand Tour to me
I expected you to show up in the evening and was disappointed 👎 :D

EDIT: TBH I find racing S/S or other faster drivers to be equally bad compared to the low ranked players with the only difference that the higher ranked players do it on purpose and not by accident. They usually just push their way through on the first occassion instead of working out a clean way past. But I guess that takes too much time :boggled:

Man, after being dipped back to the lower levels over the weekend... I am much happier among DR/A or S and SR 99. It's a different world... I can't even repeat some of the behaviour that I saw

@Robben i just wonder if anyone like to watch the replays for fun. I always do it.:D
watching high rank races are enjoyable especially F1 is off till this Sunday.

Agreed! I especially love it when there's a big furball and everyone would disperse before entering a corner looking for space... If you take it out of context it absolutely looks like a recipe for massive carnage. But they'd all make it through the corner and file up into one neat line again!

Don't we all?

Not gonna lie I do encounter S/S drivers who would nudge people out of their way just to retain their position, but I encounter them as a special snowflake. Say about 1 in 15 S/S drivers

Yeah sorry, I was way too tired to do races in the evening. I fell aslepp while watching GRIP :)

 I thought you were maybe in a band, or at a pro BMX event ;)

I wouldve prefered a BMX roadtrip over a family trip though :scared::lol:

Hey! I resemble that remark! :p

Just finished Race A. Wish there was some way to simulate left foot braking with the controller without taking away braking from the stick! I was rear ended a few times with no SR penalty, braked a bit late to avoid one car and did get the orange SR but somehow managed to get a green SR when I ran a bit wide and tapped someone on the outside. Maybe I was rewarded for not knocking them off?

Started 5th on a grid of 12. Mostly other Ds but there were a few Bs and a couple of Cs. I do tend to get better match ups in one make races. The few times the full Nurb has come up is when I've had the most mismatch. Probably the only time I'm ever likely to see any of the posters here.:odd:

You should try R2 accelerate L2 brake :)

Yeh.... I'm a D, remember? ;)

Ah! Thought it was an Autocorrect from 'resent' :)

Umm... no. I use those to shift and find it so much more comfortable than the R1 L1 from the PS2. I'm most used to using the analogue sticks from back when I used to race 1/10 scale buggies. 👍

This is tough... as L2 and R2 are clearly the most convenient buttons for gear changes, however, they are also the best buttons for accelerate and brake. I have to use auto as I can't make X/O and R1/L1 work for gears... my hands get all confused!

Makes sense re: sticks if you are a previous RCer

Does anybody know, what were the fuel and tire wear, last time we had a Gr4 race with this features on dailies or fia's races?

Yesterday at Suzuka was a group 4 fuel and tyre wear race... I can't remember what the multipliers were though... maybe x7 tyres and x9 fuel from memory?

Phants 👍

Thursday... as it's the right way round :)

Edit: wtf, you got assaulted after 49 seconds  3 contacts in about 5 seconds

What level is this?

Just finished Race B. For those of you who like to whine about mismatching, spare a thought for a guy/girl going by the name of FTUL. This poor soul is an S/S, and he/she must have done something *really* bad in a past life, because he got matched up with us! The starting grid comprised of FTUL in pole, then a couple of A/S, and the rest D/S. Someone must have traded paint with them during the race because they finished 4th and someone else in the post race comments apologised to them 4 or 5 times.

As for me, I'm not interested in whatever the "beta" car happens to be, I roll in whatever I feel like at the time. This time it was the rexy. Couldn't go out in public in canary yellow, so I had to murder it out first. Qualified 12th, finished 11th. I got a surprise when I suddenly found myself bearing down on 8th, 9th and 10th. Sadly I put on the power too early coming out of a corner and ended up in the kitty litter and was re-spawned *just* as I was about to get back on track.
