You rang?

I had the craziest Monza ever. I qualified with a 2:02.001 which put me 12th on the grid (I reckon I could have shaved 2 more seconds off that but no more). Someone left which bumped me up to 11th. Suddenly I think one of the servers must have gone down because the grid went from 19 to 9 and I was in 6th. Added to this was the matchup was mostly against DR/Bs and most of the DR/Ds vanished with "The Purge":nervous:.

During qualifying I had the chicanes penalty free but for some reason come the race and I just couldn't seem to get the 1st and 3rd chicane penalty free. I was sure I was taking the same lines as qually. The fake6 was good on tyres, so I double stinted the tyres, but screwed up my refuelling and had to pit a 2nd time for a splash and go... my pit crew suck!

Finished 6th and reaped the whirlwind on points. On friday I was on 1 point. Today I'm in serious danger of going up a DR !

Congrats! 6th is always a solid result in a grid of 20 :)

Is it even worth firing up the game for race c or is it just full of short-shifting M4s?

Somewhat I can get clean finish on BB Raceway, and shortshifting become a habit. When other come to pit with 26% fuel and me come to pit with 47% that really save my time on pit

but shortshift habit is killing me on other race (86 GRMN) I really hard chase other racer :nervous:

Yes, but it started a grid of 20 but dropped down to a grid of 9 by the time the race started!

Before half the grid dropped off the face of the earth, my race only had 2 M4s.

If a fast guy does it properly, after first qualifying in another car of course, then they'll likely win, as happened in some of my races but I've not seen too many doing it today, it's all luck whether you run into a decent driver doing it or not. There are other cars much better on fuel than the Aston (car of choice in the EU) too which can let them jump you in the stops.

It probably isn't worth racing though because of how dirty most of the field are, brake checking and weaving all over the place was common in the midfield, where I often ended up after being forced off and/or because of the unfair penalties. I even quit on a race at one point (first time I ever left a race that wasn't dc related in GT Sport) and later on I got knocked to SR B after more awful racing.

Dragon Trail was ok-ish today, lost some DR points as I came last in the first race and couldn‘t make up the lost ones in the next races.
@bmxmitch and I then decided to do the FIA 86 race, unfortunately got matched with all the aliens (@Twissy) and then got destroyed as there was nobody to draft with on the straights in qualifying. RIP DR :(

Off to lobby racing it is...

@Robben you made it 👍

Not yet. Even though I've seen them in endurance races I still can't wrap my head around what I think of as a luxury car as a race car.

Very stable and easy to drive. Even the GR.3 version, you'll probably have to really hammer the throttle to get it to spin.

Guess I drove the 86 for the first and last time. That race just wasn't for me...:ouch:
But some good fights in race B today. I just should've stopped after a few decent races, the rest was just bus-stop madness :scared::lol:

A couple of good races on Dragon's Trail this afternoon. Didn't qualify in the Atenza as I'm trying to get back to SR/S, after being demoted to C thanks to racing at Tokyo over the weekend, and Interlagos yesterday, and I didn't wanna qualify midfield (I was running high 41's).

Started 13th in race one, and finished 6, with a clean race bonus. Race 2 started 14th and finished 4th, with another clean race bonus. Some good close racing with a couple of racers made the clean race bonuses that much more special! Back to SR/B now, and a gain of 1600DR points since going to C.

No, it should appear every day along with Gr3 and 4.

I've said this on a few different threads now so apologies to those who have seen this argument before.

The daily race schedule needs to be extended from three races to five. Three of the spots could be dedicated for Gr1/3/4, leaving two slots everyday for Nx00, and one-make races. Everyone wins.

I agree 100%. More GR-1

My races are filled with Huracans. I used the Evo. I was out braking everyone and it's a smooth car mid corner and exit. I left fuel map at 4 until middle of lap 6. Then, set to 1 and reel in the car ahead.

My lap time had me starting 10th for a couple of my last races. Finished 6th in those.

I'm impressed. I've been on 1 point though 30 or so races

I thought I was going to find success yesterday but was banged around quite a bit.

Seems that many paid the Interlagos (sr) debt yesterday xD

I started 2nd, 4th, 5th & 7th in the races I ran (qualified with a 1:39.009). I did win one race, but the rest we're just absolute madness. With my 2nd account, I didn't qualify and had far better races by starting at the back and just watching others fall off the track.

Starting near the front at Interlagos isn't smart!

Manage to beat my best qualifying time on Dragon Trail by about .5 sec in the Viper with a 1.37.652 (102 out of 16232 in region) - well pleased. In race, started 7th and finished 6th. Clean race no upsets :D:D
second race started 5 and finished 4th, but screwed up third race and caught the bus stop. Never mind a good few points for the day

Why do they have to schedule the good tracks on weekdays - last weekends races were rubbish !!!

I am fairly new to this game and have a couple of questions. I am using a T300rs and T3PA Pro pedals with the Ricmotech load cell mod.
1. Why can I sit for hours qualifying for a certain race and do fairly well but every time I go into an actual race my car handles/drives totally different...it's really pissing me off.

2. Why do my brakes start off working really good and after awhile I almost have to stand on the brake pedal to get my car to stop? I thought when I first start the game it calibrates and then your good to go.

Sorry if this is the wrong thread but it only happens when I go into the daily races.

Had my most productive and enjoyable night of racing in quite awhile. Did 4 or 5 Race C at Suzuka in the R32. Realizing I wasn't going to make up many spots on speed alone I decided to employ the no pit strategy. I believe everyone else pitted in every race. This resulted in many positions gained and one win after qualifying 3rd. It was really fun pushing (not literally) other cars into abusing their tires while still conserving mine. I was running lap times in the 2:17's.

Then it was off to Dragon Trail in my Corvette. Another 4 or 5 races netted me a couple 2nd place finishes and many spots gained. Overall for the night I saw an increase of +4000 points which got me back to DR/A where I was pre 1.13. Didn't race til 1.14 and had a disastrous first night back with the new penalty system which saw me fall well back into the B ranks. I have had some great racing since while trying to climb back and don't have any problems with the penalties.

I'd love to race against some of my fellow GTP members here so if any of you see me in a race give a shout out. My PSN name is Chevy_Heavy. You can't miss my car, it's the one with the Chevy emblem on the back. All my liveries carry the Bowtie. :D

People will say its tyre wear and fuel consumption in those races but I think thats BS car should handle the same for a lap or 2 as it did when you are setting a qualifying time but it doesnt. Plus the non linear throttle is a pain when you try and race with people it can feel like an on off switch

If this is the case then you're right it's BS. If I am qualifying for race B for example where tires and fuel are not an issue and then start the race....what the hell is different?

You, good sir/mam,have stumbled upon one of the greatest mysteries in GT Sport (besides @Robben PSN name) If you figure it out let us know... The traction issue I mean

Answers I have:

1. Qualifying has no wear on, meaning tires are always at optimum grip. Race has accelerated wear so they will fall off from ideal grip the moment you start.

Also, I attribute being more conservative with inputs in a race, magnified by the throttle mapping in GT Sport which I covered in a post here.

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/non-linear-throttle.366409/page-5#post-12255612

Finally, a race has cars around you which creates a slipstream affect that can impact car characteristics.

2. Unsure. May tie in to points in #1.

This would make sense in a race that is set up to have tire wear but I am racing Daily Race B where it clearly states "Tire Wear = None". Also your slipstream statement makes sense unless I am pole position coming into a turn with no one around and my car is driving and handling like I've never even tried it out before. Like I said it's frustrating and really makes the Daily Races unenjoyable at times.

Maybe qualy is low fuel load. Race is full fuel load. Adding weight to the car. Even without consumption.
