Interlagos got a lot better in the evening. Perhaps all the trouble makers had been booted to the lower ranks. There was still the occasional idiot, yet just for one race, immediately shipped off to SR.B or lower at the end. The lowest they managed to get me was to 92 with 3 hits while pretty much all of my races were positive. No chance at a win though, there was always a 1:19 on pole. Also no more clean race bonus as getting hit in T1 is simply part of Interlagos...
Last time I did GR.1 on Interlagos with the 919, today the Mazda. I think I prefer the Mazda for over taking. I managed to get a lot of podium finishes even though I had to give up a bunch of positions in the first lap to stay out of trouble. Any 919 starting behind you is an immediate position loss, then there's always a dive bomb following right after, another one in T4, and then the race starts. First get back to starting position and gain a few more places during the race.
One race I started 2nd and it looked like to become a boring watch the gap growing race, the only time T1 went without a hitch. So I promptly spun out in lap 2, dropped to 7th, and made my way back to 2nd. Fun race after all, entirely planned....
As for the penalty system, it gets it right about 50% of the time. That's probably why the other car gets a 1 sec penalty as well just in case as it's just guessing.
