His racing line's probably better than yours. Considering that he rocketed away onto the big straightaway, he could've gotten a better exit than you
That I agree on Alpha but I was following him (15/20mtrs behind and we had the same exit speed) - I was in a perfect position to slipstream him but he still pulled away? Sorry for not be clear enough on this but I'm still baffled about it....... Cheers .

The Lexus is easier to drive but the Honda is a bit faster (at least at Suzuka). But it's not as if the Nissan is bad either by all accounts. There isn't a bad choice as such, if you drive them well enough you can go fast in any of them.
I bought all three

Yeah well, the thing is you can't have the same exit speed if he's rocketed away from you. Having the same turn-in speed and apex speed is different from having the same exit speed. Just because you're just as fast as him on the corner doesn't mean you're just as fast going out of the corner
Slipstream doesn't solve all the world's problems

Is this new animation? or just bug? first time I seeing my brake smoked during pit  So much fun in GR.1 race in evening and in midnight, should be meet @leaves_2B if my internet connection not suddenly died for 5 minutes.

Yes, no one uses the R18 but it is typically only a few tenths down on the 919, if that, by my experience anyway. I think I recall seeing it in the daily top 10 on one occasion...I guess a few tenths is a lot but it is usable.

Will try next time, too used with 919 at this moment even get 104 top asia with this Porsche.

After some cocking about I think I know what the problem is. They seem to have modeled the Haldex system in reverse. It seems that the TTS is rwd until the haldex coupling sends torque to the front axle, the opposite of how it should be.

That makes sense. It certainly feels like a RWD on corner entry, then when the fronts start to lose traction it applies more torque to the front. If it drove like this in real life there would be an awful lot of wrecked Audis around. It's not much fun to drive. Even when you know what's coming there's very little you can do about it. If last weeks Megane-fest is anything to go by were going to be stuck with it for while too.

Waiting...

Personally, I think everyone should wait if they’ve punted someone off. This is the approach I’ve taken since on-line racing began with GT5P… and back then, pretty much everyone waited.

Didn’t matter where it happened, or how many places you lost – if you cause an accident, you don’t profit from it. If it’s not safe to stop there, you find the safest place to stop, and you wait until the person you’ve hit re-takes the place.

So what if you lose places, and end up at the back of the pack? Tough ****. You shouldn’t have caused the accident in the first place.

I’ve only raced the fastest drivers since very early in GTS, and hardly ever been outside top 3 in qualifying or race… incidents in those races are infrequent – I do still see people waiting, but it’s mainly people I’ve known and raced for many years (10 years for some!). I also saw it a top 24 race replay I watched a while ago.

But from what I’ve seen of lower class racing, it’s clear it’s more of a free for all here. Shame, but no surprise as the pool is so big it's unlikely you'll race the person you've punted regularly... so people just carry on regardless.

However, I think the very fastest drivers have a responsibility to set the proper example for everyone. 100% of the time. Integrity and sportsmanship should go hand in hand with being fast.

It particularly irks me when I see someone who is clearly fast punt someone who is clearly slower, then just ****-off in to the distance. It’s selfish, and shows a general lack of respect IMO.

If they had run in to the back of someone faster than them (one of the known, and true aliens), most likely they wait – the pool of super fast drivers is small, most of them know each other (if not personally, then by name/reputation), and you don’t want to get a reputation in that group for being unsporting... a video of your behaviour might just pop up on here ;)

Maybe waiting is just too old school for today's generation.

And the 'real life racers don't wait' response is just plain daft.

Agree with everything here.

P.S "In real life" that would have been race over for both of them. Waiting and giving the position back is online racing etiquette.

Have you *ever* seen that in a real race? In the many hours of flesh and blood racing I've seen, not once have I seen anyone stop to take a nap after making contact to wait for the person they hit to get back on the track and pass them before trundling off again??? The only times I've seen someone give back position was when they gained an advantage by over shooting and strait lining a corner, and then given the place back.

I have tried waiting for drivers I've unintentionally knocked off. What it gets you is another 5 cars passing while you wait and then some other muppet shunting you while you are no where near the racing line on a strait!
In the Australian Supercars series re-addressing is part of the rules. Last weekend Shane Van Gisburgen gave back a spot he had gained by hitting the rear-end of Craig lowndes and pushing him off the track. If he hadn't he would have received a penalty, anything from a ten second hold in his next pit stop to an pit lane drive through.

So the answer to your question is yes.... just last weekend.

Best day 2018 for me at Mount Pano! :) .:gtpflag::cheers: . And not one single dirty driver around last 7 hours of racing! WOW!! Loved it... Party-time! Cheers .

Fully agree with you Ryan! It's the worse EVER! So frustrating - even make me upset behind the wheel and I don't enjoy that...... :nervous:

Wonder how long it’s gonna take me to get back up to S driver rating now, this could be fun to keep track of other than that bloody infuriating

P.S "In real life" ~....
1. you have car owners to answer to... your year end bonus and next contract are in play.
2. you have sponsors to answer to, your immediate ride much less longevity in the sport is jeopardize.
3. you have 20 plus racers you have to face next race day, and they all know how you like to race... and will race you accordingly.
4. and sometimes, half an hour later someone is missing some teeth and/or having a hard time keeping an eye open, whilst another has skinned up knuckles...

Comparing real life to online racing with regard to consequences of your actions is an example of delusion.

Yep.

However, one thing I have noticed is that since the penalty system was introduced, there has been less "waiting". I'm in the asia region and mainly race DR-A-SR-S drivers, and pre-penalty days it was reasonably commom to see some drivers re-addressing position, waiting etc. Now with the penalty system in place (Ok, that's another issue), it seems most driver will see a 5 or 10 sec penalty for punting as their punishment and just race on.

Earlier in the games life I agree. But towards the end of that, the system was being gamed, hence the introduction of penalties imo. That's a whole other thread though.

I did 3 Panorama races, 2 relatively clean, third dirty.

It's the 4th day in a row now that the 7:30 pm / 7:40 pm race is a dirty mess.

(176 is tomorrow, KPrime locks it in at 8 pm EST)
Perhaps I should just skip that time slot...

Then I did a daily C without qualifying, made it to 9th, one of the few without a penalty. Actually I only made it to 11th from where I was stuck behind 3 cars with 1 bar connection. I passed once and got hammered repeatedly in the next turn, punted off track by the lag. No use. I got the other 2 positions at the finish from one car slowing down and the other driving over the line with 15 sec penalties...

The next daily C was a disconnect right after the warm up, SR down, -1454 DR. So I switched back to Panorama 8:40 race, made it from ninth to third by managing to avoid the dirty players. Also position gains at the finish due to penalty servers... It's the only raise that gained me some DR today, +436.

Then one more Interlagos, still without qualifying, from 17th to 7th this time, fast and dirty race but managed to dodge them again. Only got punted once after someone had taken out the distance markers for T4, it's the little side road for braking point people... not my bumper.

Enough for today, I hope the races are better tomorrow.

I don't know what's wrong with me today. I love racing Bathurst but I just couldn't dial in Murray's and Hell. I just kept hitting the entry kerb or I would scrub speed on the exit only being able to get to 2:16 for a lap time. The rest of the course was fine but blowing those two turns just murders my speed on the straights.

I'm still trying to work my SR back to S after dropping to B from racing Nurburgring with weave blocking weirdos, so it probably isn't smart to race on a course I can't dial in.

I guess I'll just try again tomorrow.

Anybody ever slow down only to find the penalty won't dissipate? I dropped down to about 20mph before the finish at Dragon Trail and my 1.5-sec penalty didn't budge at all. Ended up losing a position even though I was 6 seconds ahead of the next guy. I should have just finished under speed.

Tap the brakes instrad of just lifting the throttle

I was braking the entire time up to where I noticed I was almost stopped and the time didn't change. I moved over thinking the painted lines might count as off track but no luck. By the time I thought screw it and gunned it the guy behind was right there.

Surprised they didn’t include the new circuit?
not surprise at all, I'd love try some time trial on new track than race today :/ finding best car for that track. That track is good but too short for me :/
