Nice of PD to provide us with 3 one make races today.... Gr. 4 at Alsace is a Megane Trophy clean sweep.

Yep, as yesterday at Brands Hatch was, you need a track with a long straight or two for it to lose it's dominance but with too much speed the Veyron is then OP instead.

That's why people would quite happily see both these cars removed from Gr.4, as BOP'ing them anymore will see them go from OP in some cases to rubbish in all. Better to move to Gr.X and just have actual one-make races with them every now and then.

I thought the Veyron at Monza was an absolute pig. So slow through the corners. I raced with the Aston Vantage for the Nations race and felt way more comfortable with that even though I've never raced with it before because normally the Aston is the pig lol

Back in the Village, again in the Village. Back in the Village again... Race B as the only race for me tonight. I did some qualifying laps in the Viper, then the NSX. I beat the best time I was doing with the Viper by 3s in the NSX, which was still 0.3s slower than previous qualifying. I even did a lap at 80ish kph to sight see. Someone commented that Alsace has no way of actually getting onto the track. I found 2 roads that lead on to the track, barricaded. Qualified P8/16, which later changed to P8/14 on a grid with Two DR/As, an S, a B and the rest Ds. There were 5 Meganes.

The race was fairly clean, although I was rammed a couple of times and nearly came off track trying to stop. The guy who started in front of me I ended up ahead, till I screwed up a corner and had a couple of tyres on the grass on the exit. I managed to catch it before it became a spin, but my lead evaporated and he passed me. Finished where I started, P8, with a clean race bonus :D. Only 2/14 had penalties.

SR still 99, DR went up a couple of hundred. Reasonably satisfied with that. Another day above DR 1 :dopey:.

The Megane Trophy could be kept in Gr.4 with the correct BoP. Based on no testing at all, I think it needs a little more power and a lot of weight.

I generally only race the GR. 1/2/3/4 cars, so don't want to have any less cars to choose from.

Taken from Daily B two days ago. I had a very competitive scrap with J_Nemesis who was defending for his life against me and personally, I thought he/she was far too aggressive defending his line. Pushing me off at the chicane on lap 3 and nearly ending my race. What do you guys think? Was it fair defending or a bit too Kevin Magnussen for your tastes? Personally I think the real victim in all this is the French guy Alexandre behind me who earned himself 15 seconds worth of penalties for running into the back of me fairly lightly. Thankfully the penalty system changed the following day haha

@Danny_GT2 It was mostly fair enough from them apart from the lap 3 incident, they left too much room there and then tried to block you but you went the wrong way on pretty much all those moves and to the inside of corners where you'd never pass as the braking is not hard enough and it cost you time and potential overtaking opportunities exiting the corner or into the next one. You were trying too hard to pass.

You've really got to go wide to the edge of the track and turn in, not only is this faster but you'd likely be able to switch back under them anytime they defended really heavily like that, as they'll be slow off the corner, meaning an easy overtake either through speed or by having the inside for the next corner. The only thing to watch out for if you take a wide entry is the cars behind, as you could get divebombed if one is near enough to do so.

Learning to drive without the traction control would help you exiting the corners too, as you'll be quicker and it'll make passing easier in cases like this. ;)

Overall pretty good defending with a couple exceptions. Lap 3 incident was definitely not fair defending. Lap 4 at the same location was just barely acceptable. Nice job getting the pass at the last corner, but you were borderline blocking to the finish line.

I completely agree with ASH32, other than the incident on Lap 3 his defense was near perfect.

It looked like you get away with passes by late braking from a car length behind, leading into the apex. I wouldn't say you're a dive bomber but you're definitely a barge passer and I would have hogged up the middle just like Nemesis did to keep you from trying to stick your nose on the inside.

You though, you were way too aggressive even running off into pit row to try and gain an inside line on Nemesis. Ironically, you don't pass a defensive line on the inside. When they run a defensive line like that they are tanking their lap time drastically. Maximize your exit speed and pass on the straight because you'll have way more speed if you use the entire track to corner versus Nemesis blocking and using half of the track.

I was fine with his defence until the lap 3 chicane incident. He moved right (fair enough) so you swung left then he moved left a bit and you tagge dhim, that's where he crossed the line.

In saying that, you did very well to be so close to him without really tagging him for near 3 laps but damn you made a meal of passing. Instead of using momentum through 2 or 3 turns you tried to nerf your nose in at every corner, if you'd focussed more on exits on the correct line you'd have go thim easily as you were WAY quicker.

I switched to Brand's hatch, one of my favorite tracks, unfortunately with my least favorite GRMeganeTrophy4. Not getting much done in the Viper I decided to give the meta a try. First flat out with a pit stop in lap 10 without tire change. Stopping so late and not changing tires anyway felt rather unnecessary so fuel saving it is then. First fule saving race I miscounted and had to drop all the way to fuel map 6 to make it to the finish, finished 11th doh.

The winning strategy for a lazy automatic driver was, start in fuel map 3, draft for most of the race, switch to 2 in lap 8 or when needed to catch the next car's slipstream, switch to 1 for the final 1.5 laps. That got me a 5th and 6th place. The race with the 5th place was with a 10 sec penalty from a car hitting the car in front of him and the insta-slowdown got me. That's still the same. The one where I got 6th I got bumped off in the last lap by a driver who then also bumped off the car I was following in the next corner. He didn't get a penalty for either. Thanks PD, so much better....

My experience mirrored yours, I could do low 1.31's with the Megane (pointless using any other car, it was leaps and bounds faster than anything else) and 1.33.0 on fuel map 3 so ran with that all race. Finished 2nd, 5th and 7th as I had dropped to DR of D and jumped to B so competition got harder.

Yeah I was annoyed I didn't pass him sooner but this was pre-update and having been punished really unfairly for BS penalties before, I was afraid of making a proper pass in case I tapped him and got a 10-second penalty. I already had 2 seconds as it is so I was constantly aware that if I got alongside him and we rubbed paint that I would get the 10 sec penalty and effectively end my race.

IMHO instead of poking your nose in half heartdly at the big chicane, take the racing line and get a brilliant exit and get him into T1.

Or, again instead of poking the nose half in through the awkward left after the fast S Curve, focus on a good line so you can swing right quickly and get him into the chicane.

Mind you easy for me to say, in that same race I lost 8,000 DR points and dropped from a SR of 55 to 1 because i was taking people into braking zones.

The GT-R was on fire. I got bumped off by a Trophy when there was about a 4 car smash up. Made my way up to 5th. Shuffled me down back to 13th.
I don't think those Megane drivers believed I could make passes on them in braking. AWD corner stability and corner exit are awesome.

Good ol NSX triumphed.

When I end up behind cars I'm faster than, I definitely prefer to take them on exits with a wide entry and getting on the throttle earlier, some probably wonder how I'm passing them like that I guess. When I have to out-brake them, usually when they are quite good, not overly defensive or making mistakes, then I may mess up. I could still be better here.

I'm also still wondering how I'd pass the real fast guys though, I'm never quick enough to actually try and I don't want to wreck their race.

What car is used for today’s daily race A @ de la Sarthe?

(I still can’t connect to PD’s servers so I figure I’d practice a bit for that daily race, n200 Toyota 86? Or the 86 GRMN? on SH tyres).

Thank you in advance.

86 GRMN

I tried out the Alsace Gr.4 daily with the GT-R Gr.4. My word what a mess that race was

Circuit de La Sarthe was an absolute mess yesterday...
People using other cars a bumpers in the corners, people squeezing their car in every little gap even if the gap wasn't big enough, penalties from from to back.
And why does everyone think the race can be won in the very first corner? Damn what a crashfest it was.

Love my track, but I think I'm built for Gr. 4. Started 4th behind a fellow NSX. Had to slow up at the back esses because I was slightly quicker. Put me off my rhythm and allowed a Mustang to catch up.

We had a friendly exchange for a lap, leading right back to the esses. I gave room, as I had the inside for thd left-hander before the four brothers right handers. I hear the tyre screeching and get hit. Off I go. I get a 10 second penalty.

Fall to 10/14. A slow RSR is tip+toeing at the first esses. I slightly tap its RHR corner. 10 seconds. Fall to last.

14/14 behind two battling 458s. Again both cars tip-toe the first esses. Even when I backed because I know this track easy, the 458 gets wide, andv cuts back enough where I tap its RHR corner. 10 seconds. Last lap, 30 seconds from the leader, I was disgusted and brought it home. Think I'm done with Gr. 3.

Yeah, didn't get my qualification in time so had to start at the back so was 40 secs back after 1st quarter of the 1st lap :)

Rest was ok, used the Toyota TS050 Hybrid '16 and with a bit fuel saving (mix 3 through the twisty bits of the lap) it was no problem to get to the end. Just chose the Toyota because of its good fuel economy.

Whats up today ? I think the Nordschleife with Gr 1 ?
Yes 3 laps on the Nordschleife.

Would have won 3 out of 3 races now, but in the 2nd i had a 10s penalty. With the LM55 you can outrun the Porsches easily in the last part of the lap,

Is that due to the down force and being able to draft it a bit better per chance?

I am thinking of using it in the race myself but still practicing my laps.

Can't seem to break under 5:56's so I think I need to work on my brake balance or think about a different car for qualifying time as keep
throwing the 919 off track.
