Yup, started 6th, got up to 3rd thanks to a couple guys spinning out or going off the edge and then they slowly caught back up by the end and I finished 7th(Door#1) and lost over 500 DR points lol. Back to the time trials I go. :)

I watched the top few replays and I’m about a second slow through every sector. I downshift too much and it costs me speed, my lines aren’t terrible but could be better and my braking points are OKish lol. Now to get to work. :)

I've been loving Race C this week, the races have been relatively clean for me. My fastest qualy time is a 2:56.6 so far and I know I can improve more. Not having to worry about saving fuel has made it much more enjoyable, the tires lose grip but it's only really noticeable at the Mulsanne after the heavy braking, it's still ok everywhere else. I'm still doing the Porsche and Corvette curves at full throttle on lap 6.

One driver in the first race I did was in a WRX, and was just out for hitting anyone, anywhere and anyhow. It was just demolition derby. Was ready to call them out in the chat screen but they quit on lap 5. They had no DR and an E safety rating. I just don't get that mentality, thankfully!
It was probably a 10 year old. That's most likely how I would have raced, at that age.

The slower corners where the aero can be overpowered by the engine coming out of the corner are sketchy on the last lap or 2 but once you are up in 7th for porsche curves its on rails.

I think this is one car that actually has major benefits if you are a wheel user as you can be very fine with the steering input at high speed, especially through the Porsche curves.

I managed a 2.54.7 last night and I think if I can optomise everything there is maybe another second I can take off but I dont think I can catch the top time which was a 52.7 last night in asia/pacific. I was still 5th I think but being 2 seconds behind top will be hard for that time to hang in the top 10.

My only problem is the matchmaking for the time of day I can race. Not trying to sound elitist, but so few people play this particular combination at that time that I get matched with 1-4 people at best that are around my pace and the rest are much farther down. Sometimes they don't even have the same SR rating, which is strange because I'm pretty sure that's the main thing this game uses for matchmaking.

This is why I'm sick of the region lock in the dailies.

Just curious but what were the times they were running in the final race of the GT Nations Cup individual championship?? They raced the same cars and track as race C I think. But maybe the chicane was not there ... not sure. Not sure if the sector / interval times are available or not. There might be a fast lap or two or sector in that bunch to have a look at, the races were on line. I watched a bit and thought the Aussie didn't get as much credit as he deserved ... of course I'm biased but heck ... he came into the final 16 from the repechage. Then came 3rd in the first race from 11th. He stayed out an extra lap in the final and it cost him two seconds ... I reckon he was very fare as well, although they all were but there were some critical touches.

They were using a different setup on the cars at the finals, and I think air resistance was also increased on their version (someone correct me if I'm wrong)
And so times in race C are about 20s quicker (based off the top of the leaderboards)

Have they ever trialled a non region race? maybe its an internet thing? How long does it take for an internet instruction from Japan to Australia? And Australia to the USA or London? I wonder what the difference would be? I imagine that for our Asian sector, the server should be about mid way between the extreme locations??? That would be more difficult on a world scale ... more easy between two of the three world sectors I am guessing, because I presume the main server would sit mid way between for instance for Asia v Europe - I guess mid way between the UK or Iceland and northern Japan I guess. Darn I don't have a world globe ... Atlas's are too difficult. Google Earth maybe??? Naaah my screen is still flat.

Nah never, it’s just there to prevent high latency between players in different regions. I'm not sure how necessary it is though, because I can easily play with 99% of European players with no lag at all. Most of Europe is closer to me than Brazil is so I don't see the big deal from my perspective. The Asia region can be sketchy for me but it's not too bad most of the time. That is a completely different time zone than me anyway.

The Philippines would be a pretty central location for the Asia/Australia region.

No wonder because Ontario to Frankfurt is three quarters of the distance of Ontario to Rio de Janerio (please excuse miss spelling).

Of course, I presume the server for the Americas is somewhere near the middle of the Americas.

. If it plays OK for you, then I guess the question is how far is it from the America's server to the European server?

Ontario to Melbourne is double the distance of Ontario to Frankfurt. Melbourne to Beijing is not much shorter than Ontario to Melbourne ... so if Melbourne to Beijing works - and it would - then the world is possible. Although maybe that explains some issues we have racing in the Asian zone.

Someone should ask Sony I guess ... they'd surely have looked at all the issues.

Wow.
I went in country...Race b. First race, first lap I kiss the wall on exit of the chicane. I lose speed before the slow left...The fella behind tried to make an inside move on me and we bumped...My bad I should have protected the inside better...Anyways we got tangled up a bit and I got the dreaded orange down arrow.
He lifted going up the hill but several cars had passed, then it was indecision time in the downhill eases exit and I pulled far right...He wiped out I think...
If that was anyone out there my apologies for getting tangled, it was just two weird indecisive moments between us.
Anyways so I had lost a few positions but by the end a couple folks made errors and I finished back where I started. For me in a sport mode race...I have trouble with that direction. I’ve won a couple going the other direction and driven that one way more so...I just drove like garbage.
Second race I am starting higher and get bashed in turn 1 but save it and manage to lose maybe 3-4 spots...
One guy bins it in the chicane so I get that back but I am trying to find my mojo and have to lift a touch...a touch on exit of the esses since I was a bit out of shape on the last part so as I am coming towards the curbing on the left I feel my left rear get pushed and I’m like whaaa?
So basically I almost got killed but managed to save it as my opponent spun off track...
Total bad move by him. On replay he’s just flooring it into me when from behind...I get 3 second penalty ow. First one in quite a few races...
Finally with no one behind I got a bit of rhythm and got up into third by the final lap and the guy in second wipes out exiting onto the final straight I fly by no problem and lift at the line to serve my penalty, but I guess I should have stopped because I lost five sr and finished 3rd.
My mojo ain’t cutting it right now. I gained dr, but man...
My driving and others in these two was some of the worst I’ve seen lately...Time to chill...

Stay thirsty my friends

YES!!!
40th win! With the RX7! At Tsukuba! GOLDEN! All three stars! In my Gran Turismo 4 racing suit and opera helmet to add nostalgia to it all! :D
Grabbed 2 dubs today.
There were a few dirty B’s for sure, but got a good amount of wins from this race. Proud of that.
I should get one of these exact cars in real life in Innocent Blue Mica!

What's your best qualytime Pigems? Which car you prefer? Porche?

I've been on race B for a few days now. Last night I had around 5/6 races using the 911 and the Supra and I just kept getting frustrated at being punted off the track and having my race wrecked whilst running 2/3rd and then having to fight my way up again.

I've never seen such abysmal SR penalties either. In one particular race I was heading down the start finish straight and someone was slipstreaming me. I didn't fight him off and he had plenty of room either side to overtake and what does he do? "Bump draft" me. What happens next? SR rating goes down. 🤬
I eventually won a race in the end, only because someone overtook me on the straight leading up to the finish. I tried to squeeze him up but left racing room so he decided he'd ram into my side which knocked me over and he got a 4 second penalty.
Utter joke. :banghead:

I think 1:40.7xx is the best I’ve managed so far in the Porsche, the Supra is fast but short shifting it messes me up lol, after watching replays last night I think it’s my braking, I’m starting to break at the right places but I’m braking too much and losing too much speed around corners due to it, I’ll figure it out. I am improving my Gr3 abilities during the process though, so that’s a plus. :)

Was your car a Subaru WRX Gr. 3 last night when this happened?

That's strange, when I look at my profile on the internet, it shows both replays. If you click on either, it says open to all
https://www.gran-turismo.com/gb/gtsport/user/profile/1338615/gallery/all

I managed to match it to withing .003 seconds with the Toyota GR Supra, but couldn't better it.
Sorry Arcflyer, I must have done the wrong thing as I went to PS4 and searched... Now I think I understand. I will check........ Found it thanks a mill! :)
study time tomorrow. Tonite I will write down and look at turn one timing exiting, section one time, time through the three long S's, section two time, time after the last S's. Cheers.

To me it's not slow Pigems! I can't really manage this track very good. I will give it an hour or so of practising tomorrow. If I ever reach your time I'm going to town and get me a BIG beer! :) Cheers guy's.

You’ll get there!! The time is there and ripe for the taking. :)

This is true that it’s not slow. I’m currently just outside the top 500 in NA, unfortunately I have sky high expectations for myself and I expect to be able to get into the top 100 on any track lol, but clearly that’s gonna take some more time and experience. I forget sometimes that I’ve been away from GT for a few years now up until a month ago, every track/car feels unfamiliar right now. It’s gonna take time to get back into the swing of things in different cars on different tracks.

And different physics. Just when you get comfortable they change things and it's all up for grabs again. I still haven't come to grips with the new tyre model .

I did some qualifying laps with the beemer (M3 not M6), and managed to beat my time set by the rexy last night by nearly 3s. That would have had me P2/15. Eeep  ! The reset bug hit and that had me P1/13. Double eep :eek: !! The grid was all my fellow DR/Ds.

It was the most eery thing to see no one in front of me, and knowing there were 12 people behind me ready to splash my remains to the four winds at the bus stop. To my surprise i made it through the bus stop a bit slopy, but uninjured. I hung on to 1st till the esses. I was too sloppy with the exit of the last one , so P2 had more speed down the hill headed to that tight left hander and through he went with a nice clean pass. That threw me a little, but I managed to get through the first lap. Second lap I buggered up the corner after the bus stop and went off track. I scrambled to get back but it was too late and another went through. After that was a series of unforced errors dropping me back some more. I managed to get my head in the game, but it was too little too late.

I finished P4 5s behind P3 (I could see him, but I just cound't catch him), and 14s ahead of P5. No penalties, but no clean race bonus either :yuck:.

SR blue, DR went up nearly 500. A win would have been awesome, but I did steal pole and finished with points :D. Not sure if I'm ready to face Race C tonight. Another day above DR 1 :dopey:.
