I can't seem to find a leader board for US/Americas for this weeks races on KP Prime or my mobile app.

Nobody from those areas in on the World leader board either so I figure there's some tinkering going on.

Current World top time on Race B Suzuka is 2:07.463. Top 500 is under 2:10.465.

I've only tried the Toyota 86 so far, got the average down to around 2:14.5. I'm for thinking a top half grid position, I'll need around a 2:12 for a DRB/SRS grid.

Race 2, -4 SR t0 79. Some places people should not attempt to over take, 4 sec penalty for me. It's that traffic in lap 1 that's hard to avoid. I finished 4th from 15th, fun race. It's a learning process, where to avoid the risk takers and let them crash themselves. I also got a wall penalty, do not follow other people, always assume they suck :)

The pit entrance is a bit tricky on this track as it invites people that pit to brake late and slide into the pit lane or crash into the cars that want to go another lap instead...

Next up, driving with the SR.As and Bs, raise shields.
Hey! Be nice! I'm SR-b,and I always try to be clean. I do occasionally bump someone from behind when they brake early or faster than I can stop, but I always leave room to race if you get up next to me. I think I've had my worse mishaps when in heavy traffic and I can't see the corner coming up. I got out of the throttle in C races at Monza a couple of times going into the first chicane because of that.

How did this happen? Did you always start in the middle and got bumped back and forth or were you on a suicide mission?
Honestly, I have no idea how my DR dropped so hard in the Gr.1 race! I finished 4th from 10th, which got me completely confused. As for the SR, the chicane right after the speed section is basically grounds for extreme SR sabotage when someone cuts right into you and you get penalized

I've compared my lap time at Interlagos with the one of @Tidgney as he used the rsr aswell. Found that I took the corners at about the same speed as he did and at the longer straights I reached the same speed. At the shorter ones I was a bit slower so I guess my main problem is being too late on the gas at corner exit. This is something I really need do practice but if someone told me do this and this that would be a valuable input too.

Btw, this is something making you irresistible to any woman in town:
I hear that. I've been running with no TC lately. The gr1 hybrid is easy( but beware dirty tires!), but the Mazda gr3 kicks so hard when the turbo comes on, it's tough. Still been running TC2 in the race with that one. Didn't have any trouble (really) with the ford GT or the Mustang and Vette. I found I was leaning on the TC off of the slow corners, and slamming the throttle. Now I'm getting better at squeeezing the thottle from the apex and getting a lot more drive. I can tell when I do it right because my roll speed through the middle and end of the corner is higher.

Sometimes I'm such an evil bastard. This Ford was holding me up for over a lap so I figured to out brake him on the outside as he was defending the inside. If he tries to out brake me, he will just shoot by out of the way, or even better:
jujQesm.gif

Perfect snooker move, 3 positions gained

Another 5th place from 16th, back to 99 SR. Fun race!

So now...it's 4C time @suzuka??? Didn't thought that car would be hot again! I stick to the Huracan 4 the moment. That Alfa Romeo feels so strange to drive imho.

The more I watch this the more I can hear your diabolic laughter...

In quali I switch tcs off but the rsr doesn't like my shakey legs during races so I keep it on 2 there

I need to get a GTPlanet post made for the driving school, which I will try and do after the next episode :)! Then questions can get fired in there if anyone has anything additional to add!

Is there actually money to be made doing things like that? Or sponsor dollars/gear even?

No money, or actually very very little. So the school is monetized but that is literally to pay for expenses such as internet, software, music in other videos, hardware etc. In terms of making a profit of it no, I actually sacrifice a lot for it. A driving school episode typically takes 8-12 hours to make and produce, that's after I've thought about what I'm doing for it. That's potentially 8-12 hours I could spend on GT to just get that final tenth, or potentially to enjoy some social time with family and friends. Always said if it turned into a business I'd let viewers know so they can decide whether to stay or go :).

In terms of sponsors some people may get sponsors on their channels, or via websites etc. But if I'm honest, if a sponsor came to me and said we would like X for Y. I'd tell them I'll be honest about their product, if I don't like it I'll say it, so they probably wouldn't approach me? The reason I'm like that is I really hate the current climate of reviewers on everything (Just in general). I read game reviews and you can tell some money has changed hands, you read some product reviews and you can tell money has changed hands to say good things. I hate that, how is that a review. So ye I'll be honest when it comes to products. Some people will get sponsors though from doing stuff like this but generally that will be larger channels.

Sorry that was long winded answer, hopefully it helps your question though :D!

Thanks @RZQSPEED,
I'm watching that eagerly. Always hope to find that special secret, that one hint that divides the fast from, well, me. But truth is, there is no magic inside and all info is already given so it simply takes practice and then more practice. So I guess the best advice fast guys like @Tidgney and @TRL LIGHTNING can make is "go out for another lap"...

The thing is, you can watch some things and be like I do all that etc. The trick is to figure out what else it is they are doing. You may brake in the same spot, or accelerate in the same spot or have the same apex speed. But how do they then get to the next point. E.g. in my Brake lesson I demonstrated the extreme case of braking vs trail braking. But even if you trail brake, someone may brake 1% less and gain a tiny bit more time as they have a slightly better average speed through the corner. It starts to get to the point of accuracy and finesse over techniques (Why I try and show side by sides or examples in the school series :D).

One thing I learnt when I was trying GT Academy 2011, is to really focus on 1 corner. I focused so hard on what Ti-Tech was doing with braking in 1 particular area I essentially tried to mimic to understand what he was doing, you can't exactly mimic everything but if you get close you learn it and then suddenly you might get that extra tenth. I also go with the belief no lap is perfect, EVER, you can always improve on it :).

I've compared my lap time at Interlagos with the one of @Tidgney as he used the rsr aswell. If it's the video I'm thinking of it may be before the last major tyre/physics patch so it might require different driving technique now. Great drawing though :D!

The field is always full of TT noobs in my experience. I just can't get the 4C to keep up, even though I love the car!

Managed to get my quali down to 2.11,5 using the Ferrari. I'm not even touching that Audi

That's why I'm looking forward to the cornering episode. When I've finally found a tenth or two perhaps I'll paint these in oil. However that works

That book is pretty good although I am convinced that those super late apexes he refers to are not the fastest way (in terms of lap time, not of top speed) around the track. Found that on YT:

Rather a scientific approach but that special religion brought us toasters and PlayStations...

There is disagreement and varying schools of thought here which can make for good discussion
Bentley has a lifetime of real world experience. He does not advocate late apex on every corner at all! There’s so many more factors he describes in relation to line and the tires limit and cars balance/etc etc etc.
Have you read the whole book?
I will watch your vid later, but looks to me to be a young kid. Bentley is the man! No young punks!
Just kidding but I believe he’s got the upper hand over this youngster!

Though I need to learn the track, I'm looking forward to Suzuka. It brings back fond memories. I may be older than most of you, but surely someone here must remember the (arcade) game that started this all for me...Pole Position. It wasn't super realistic, but when you got into a rhythm you could really rail. Hope I have a car that will do well there. I refuse to buy anything until I get through the challenges...Okay, I did buy the F40...but it's an F40, you know?

@Tidgney TYVM for the response and the info Sir, I appreciate your honesty and the time you put into your videos. I’ll definitely be paying more attention to them from here on out, thanks again and have a great day. :)

No argument here. As I said, it's a very good book and I really loved reading it as he describes race car driving very well and I don't question his reputation. One of the main things I took away, besides trail braking, was late apexing, which I considered THAT one technique to rule them all. As always in life, it isn't. That youngster may not have ever driven a real race car but his considerations seem reasonable. Most scientists have never been in space, but their rockets have.
To make a long story short, I think it's a worthy addition to reading Mr Bentley...

For instance i always try to figure something out by myself, like what happens if i using 1 higher gear instead, etc. If there's a new track then i try to watch the #1 lap there and trying to analyze it. After i analyzed it i always try to copy it over not even trying to find something out new like braking later or being a bit more aggressive / smooth etc. That's always my method of setting laps.
How can you look at a fastest lap at a track? That would really assist me ... I've just tried to work it out by practice and much more by following people in the race, when their line opens up a gap compared to my race line at the time ... I've noticed others do that too - I had several close races against one driver, and I was faster at Interlagos on the main straight ... when I met him again, he was suddenly as quick as me on the main straight - he'd worked out a better entry. It would be great to know what the "good guys" do before the races happen.

People, don't even try race c this week. WORST RACE EVEEEEER. That race is hell. I was A, A and now C, D. What the hell PD, fix the penalty system on this track fast. Back do Suzuka to win some sr

Race C is rolling the dice who you get to play against. I've had more good races than bad though. Last one was nasty. I got stuck with a couple people that did not like to be passed. Bumps when you pass, block otherwise, and once I couldn't brake in time after he swerved in front of me and started braking early for an easy corner with a 1 bar connection. I bumped him, got 4 sec for it as he scraped the wall, oh well it happens. However not good enough for him as he started ramming and punting me until he had over 10 sec in penalties and had me spun around. I caught back up later, stayed behind his 10 sec penalty that was left, pass you at the line. I lost 9 SR, he went to SR.A, bye bye.

Next race up, old known foe on pole. If he loses first place he'll start ramming people. This could be interesting. I'm starting 15th, hopefully won't see him. It's a known SR tanker to get easy wins if he can't win straight up. Here we go.

Entered Race B with a QT of 2:12.65 in the Scirocco which got me 2nd position on a SRS, DRB/C/D grid. My race pace was 1-2 sec slower but finished comfortably in 2nd. Good start to the week.

I love Mondays, new races. I did some laps on A and B and I think B is my race this week. The Datson doesn’t shift well with paddles/buttons. After a few dozen laps I got down to 2:11.473 in the TT and there feels like there another half second or so there still. I tried a few other cars but I suck with RWD still, too much lead in my right foot. Oh well, I’m going in! :D

Edit: Clean Dub! And 10 much needed manner points. Oh how I’ve missed rolling starts. :)

Did another race and came second to a fast dude, started second and got a second clean race in a row, WooHoo!! I think I like this track, I even got my time down to 2:10.272 with an Optimal of 2:09.746. :)

I did not realise the FZ was the Daily! Holy snaps!!! Garage car should have been the option, but I'm fine.

For some reason, I was still thinking about the Scirocco. Last week went quick. Cool stuff!

Fair enough. Yes, I did what I said and watched as much of that as I could handle.
Absolutely, if you don’t read Bentley carefully and the takeaway is always run late apex and max trail braking then this is the antidote for that misconception.
That we can agree on.
Seems off topic here so I opened another thread but tbh seems like there’s no interest for this type of discussion.

Hah, what a garbage week this is.
I stated off with a win at Daily race a in the z. I gained not even 20 dr as a result. Then next race, I’m 2nd. Pole loses the car for a moment. I try to hook up on the inside to avoid him. He blocks me. Then I lost my cool and ended up 6th or 7 th or wherever I ended up. Don’t even remember anymore. Then I call him out on it and he says the most dumb thing ever that I’m pretty sure brain cells were lost. He says “hurr durr flash your lights” as if flashing lights is the same exact thing as ramming and cutting drivers off. Someone call WEC and all other multiclass championships, cause this guy is right!
Race c would actually be good if the penalties weren’t complete garbage. Also, when an object gets hit, why is it still in the way so that it can just ruin a race? Way to punish the cheaters, pd!
Complete garbage. Think I’ll play smash instead and not have my dr lost.
