On another note, Cayman is becoming the new meta. Is it better on tires? What tires are best for a no stop?
It's better on worn tyres than any other car I've tried. The front end will lose some grip, typically becoming noticeable on lap 5, and you have to dial the braking points a little back from there on in. Apex speeds also go down a little bit. My lap times typically go up by one second per lap, starting on lap 5. This is on the soft tyre. If you're on a wheel you should be able to conserve some more tyre life.

Cayman is the 2nd best car on tyres in Group 4, but it is only the Renault Megane Trophy that beats it (and that is so slow in a straight line that it doesn't really count). I did a test at Brands Hatch Indy and it was easily the fastest car on race pace. Alfa 4c and Toyota 86 are both reasonable on tyres as well, but again they don't have the speed on the Tokyo East Outer track. Link below has all my test info if you want to have a look.

2 Tokyo tracks in this weeks race.

My god. I have never seen a single person praise tokyo ever.

Why the hell would you put 2 in there.

Only plus side here is we won't see tokyo for a long time hopefully :p
Redbull Ring sends greetings :D

I have really been enjoying watching the different strategies that players are using on Race C. I have been finding the most success doing a no stop on Softs with the Cayman (tires wear pretty evenly) or pitting on lap 3 or 4 with the M4 on Softs depending on how close I am to the leader or if I am the leader at that point.

It seems like the Lambo is a solid no stopper on Softs but it looks like towards lap 6 and 7 it doesn’t want to turn properly. This usually allows me to make up the deficit on the turns with fresh tires in the M4. It’s lead to a a lot of final turn overtakes for the win. Traffic is the wildcard factor when using this strategy because you usually have to overtake in the curvy section which can be nightmare.

The M4 does like being thrown around on the curvy section. Puts a smile on my face every time I nail that section.

Ok, loving Maggiore and the first turn is better to be on the inside where the tyre marks are braking early and powering out, the next few corners tighten up and then the fast section before the banked kerb is normal, braking later than you expect in this direction too using the yellow rumble strip as a guide...

BUT

the bit I can't find a line at all for is the lefthander at the bottom of the hill before the long uphill. A fast approach makes it easy to go wide when braking for the tighter part, but I always brake too early and have to get on the power again if I try and go slow in fast out.

The lefthand at the top of the hill is so satisfying with late trail braking, and the end of the lap is slow and twisty but straightforward but I lose a second or two a lap in that middle corner and wonder if anyone has a good strategy for it.

Down to a 2:07.192 in the Huracan on Race C, with 06.640 on the optimum and I'm pretty sure at least three more tenths lost in sectors somewhere. So annoying I can't get a full lap together.

I did my first 2 races of the week, this morning. Both race C. Not sure I'll even try the other 2. Definitely not A, because the short Tokyo track is awful.
Anyhow, the first race was a no-quali, medium tire no-stopper. Almost finished 6th, but I braked too soon before the finish line to scrub penalties, and got passed by two cars, leaving me at 8th.

2nd race was a no-quali soft tire 1-stopper. I got up to 5th by lap 3, but then got drilled by a Lambo when I messed up the chicane under the bridge. Ended up facing backwards. :banghead: That's definitely the most important place on the track to maintain a safe following distance. :nervous: In the end, I had 12 seconds of penalties to scrub, and finished 9th.

That's all I had time for today, because of work. I still feel like there's a chance for a podium without qualifying. I'm off the next two days, so I'll be hitting it hard to figure out the best strategy. 👍

I tried a no-stop with the Jag on Mediums this morning. Times were okay, and the tires were pretty good till the end. Had to watch the right handers a bit with the left front showing more wear...I'm sure it's my driving. Had one lambo that was awful, and would slam anyone who got close. Had 22 seconds on him when I finally passed. I got 11 seconds getting by the first 2 times before it stuck. I think this strategy might work at a higher SR level, but this race was maybe 1/4 B (inc.me) and 1/2 C, with some D also. B and C DR. I think 1 stop (soft/soft) works better for me because I have a better chance of clearing the carnage early, and seem to be able to pass through the twisties late with fresh rubber and make up lost time. I've been going 4L/3L but I may try pitting early to give myself an extra lap to catch up. My fastest laps have usually been the last 2.

BTW, any good strategies to make fast money? I want to try some cars, but I don't have much cash left.

IDK who you're racing against, but judging by my races, I agree. There's so much BS going on that, if you can get through clean, the podium time is not bad to hit. In my races, the 1 stop seems to be better with the Q times running from 2:09 to 2:13 (top 10-12) and then some higher or no Q.

I was racing with the S crowd. Somehow, I managed to get to 99, but I'm sure after a few more races, I'll end up back in the B or C crowd.

I got a victory with similar setup, but with softs. Had no tires on last lap but still got it, 2nd did a pitstop.

First attempt at no stop in the Cayman with softs was a disaster. I got rammed into the wall in every lap, My best lap was only 2:11.6, slowest 2:14.5. I made it to 4th, but got rammed down to finish 8th in the end. -5 SR for that race putting me in SR.A since I was already down to 82 from this morning's derbies. I finished in between 3 red B's and 3 red A's with penalties all around.

I'll try again later, yet the Cayman from the back might be too dangerous to continue with for long. The softs did hold out sort of. In the last lap the car wouldn't brake in a straight line anymore as the front left was close to done. It still went around the corners.

I don't know how softs would work with me driving the Jag. I figure I would need the lead by lap 5, and be able to keep 3 seconds clear till the end. Any closer than 3 seconds, and many of the guys I'm racing against would punt me in the hairpin and I'd finish 10th with a 5 second penalty to boot! I gotta say, when I do get to race with clean racers, them giving when I have it, and me giving when they do, it's pretty awsome. They really need to do some homework so that the penalties have more to do with intent. They can tell the speeds, and braking points of the cars. If a car goes 40% deeper at the same speed, any contact is his fault, and if he rear ends you, and you are at your proper speed for that point on the track, you shouldn't get penalized for the hit, or the hit on the wall or track limit.

Was it the lack of straightline speed letting the wackos get to close that caused the trouble?

Gr3 at Maggiore (?) Ferrari is an animal. I'm faster in the mustang but using the ferrari is much more exciting! Also I refuse to use a 911 like everyone else

Yes, they can draft back up in faster cars and don't know their limits. A lot of people don't understand you have to adjust your braking point when going faster due to drafting as well as for slipstream braking.

I did 2 more races in the Cayman so far, both penalty free, only +3 SR each race thanks to all the bumps and punts. It's the afternoon though, schools are out and there is some horrible behavior on the track. Some people simply don't care, ram everyone, get 30 sec of penalties then quit before the end of the race. No clue how they get to SR.A / SR.S. I looked one of them up and the average SR is around 40, PD why let these in with people that try to drive clean...

It might get better when I get back to the top end SR.S rooms, maybe.

@Sven Jurgens Here's a race on soft tyres in the Cayman. Even though the front left is almost completely red at the end there's still a lot of grip available.

This was at the end of the race where I got punted a couple times
4vbd.jpg

It still handles pretty well, auto turn in right for the last corner when braking lol. There was a bit more tire left in my last race, no punting! Still only +6 SR to 89. Go from near last to 6th, you are bound to meet some door bangers.

I have to say that when I hit SR-S and started getting all S rooms at Suzuka, the racing was a whole different world sometimes. Side by side, some rubbing on the inside while passing or being passed, almost never a bump that would screw up a lap or make you loose a position, especially when in the lead group. Maybe some day, some of these weavers and bangers will realize that if you race clean, you and everyone around you goes faster, gets faster quicker, learns more and has more fun. I mean, what's more fun than railing the inside of a corner with 2 tires in the dirt and another car 6" from your door handle, knowing that in a second he'll be the one on the inside with 2 tires in the dirt and you'll be the one leaning on his door trying to hold the line.

For every one of them learning this ten new drivers will come who haven‘t. (And they‘ll have a Mégane, a Huracán and a Beetle Gr. 3 in their Garage)

So true it hurts :( Just had another one of those races. I was back to 95, now down to 78 SR. twice a Megane two cars ahead of me rams the wall in the bridge area starting an unavoidable chain reaction. I have the highest DR, I get the penalty for running into the mess while getting hit from behind. And in T1 I get rammed into the wall by another Megane and get the penalty for it. What the hell are you doing in that car in race C...

Next race it's a Sirocco and the regular idiots, bringing me down to 68 SR. The Cayman no stop project feels like a sinking ship. Racing from the back is only getting harder with matchmaking adding people that don't know how to race without using walls. Besides the trouble at the back, the whole advantage of soft tires is lost when it takes until lap 5 to get some clear space ahead.

And I'm switching back to the Huracan next with a pit stop. Matchmaking is simply trolling now. This is not racing anymore. 65 SR currently, impossible to gain SR with every car I pass feeling the need to try to run me into the wall. Last race had one car finish with 30 seconds of penalties, while the worst cases usually quit before the race. The race included profanities on liveries and someone yelling BREAKS at the start of the race. Did I end up in the toddler room...

SR.S racing on Tokyo is pretty bad, SR.B is more like Super Smash Bros racing.

I continued cycling through different cars at Race B this eve. I decided to do 2 quali laps in 5 min spare before a race in the RSR to see what time I got. 2:02 which I could easily get to below 2min if I had a session but it gets me top 5 in D class races so good enough for now. First time out in the Porsche, and it has so much rotation in the corners I never got going fast enough to make the most of it. Can see why it's so popular.

Had some good races, found the 458 can corner faster than almost anything else, as long as it doesn't start to slide. Also managed to become a fidget spinner at one point. Enjoyed the AMG '11, Peugeot VGT was good but spins out in style if you look at a blade of grass, and then I took the Nissan out and this happened...

Props to Szel_Iem who left me room on the inside at the end of Lap 1 and kept me looking in my mirror for the next lap and a bit. Very pleased with simultaneous victory, clean race, and fastest lap. As soon as I took the first few corners in the Nissan it felt right, and I got that thought that I might win. Brilliant car, you should try it!

Oh, and feel free to give any tips on driving, I am only D level and eager to learn. I bet this looks like a total mess to the pro drivers here!

Daily Race B, 06:30 Room
Car Used: Toyota FT-1 VGT Gr.3

Qualified 2nd using said car to reach a 1:57.722 lap time behind an R8 who is a pad driver like me, with the only difference is that he uses CSA while I was not. Race starts and a few corners later I ended up getting a 2.4 second penalty for a slight cut of the downhill chicane that leads to the hairpin in this configuration. Then exiting the flowing section after the straight we go and the polesitter ran wide and bottling his race, going down to 5th in the middle of the battle between an Atenza and a 2017 RC F. Meanwhile, a familiar B/S rated driver in an AMG (his qualy time is 1 second slower than mine!) decided to have a battle with me for the lead. While on Lap 2 I decided to take the inside, Lap 3 is where I ended up using the outside line and I held it well. The rest of it was to just pull a safe gap so that I can safely serve my penalty on the line. Onto the final corners and the 2nd placed AMG ended up going in too deep into the first sequence and ended up hitting the wall exiting the second sequence, allowing a Hong Kong driver in a green RSR to take 2nd from him as I crossed the line to take my 35th SM win. Oh and a Fastest Lap award as well! Also weird is that I got a Clean Race bonus even with that accidental cut!

Absolutely loving race B this week. I just love maggiore its such a fast and technical course
backwards or forwards its very well designed imo.
At first i tried the ford gt because i love how high it revs past redline in every gear, then moved to the Lexus my go to gr3 car. Good power and pretty agile n stable was able to post a 158.9 which is competitve. But then i saw Zennitt post a really good time in the RS01 and was inspired to try it as well. At first it was hard to come to grips with as its gearing is much higher to the point that you take corners in almost a gear higher everywhere and it oversteers alot in different places than most other cars. With practice though I found i could push higher speeds and turn harder on throttle than the lexus and am finding the challenge of taming a MR car around this course very satisfying. I broke my best time by almost a second with and am now sitting at 158.1 and am starting to consistently turn 159 or lower in race. Very happy to finally be driving an MR car competively. woo hoo
hoping to get into the 157s this week.
