Picked up another W in Tokyo today by a fairly comfortable margin. The chicane is really getting on my nerves; I lost three times, two of which from pole, thanks to that chicane, never due to lack of pace. @ststav01 saw me bottle one of those races too. :p It's not just slamming into the wall that slows you down a lot, it's mainly that stupid 5s penalty that inexplicably doubles itself a second later... :ouch: Tokyo penalties need a fix, badly.

At least I'm A/S again, so there's that.

I used to love the dailes, not raced in about 2 months now. ***** combos are killing this for me. If you need me I’ll be at knockhill on pc2

Time for another race report.. and some happy snaps :D.

I took the Jag for a spin and beat my Mazda qualifying time by 2s. This is where that extra speed got me:

This was a race where I could really showcase my multi-disciplined motorsports skills . When the race finished myself and the guy who started behind me (who finished last) were the only ones with no penalty. I don't understand that, since you *really* have to be trying to get penalties with the track limits so lax. Case in point:

Now at this stage I had the stick at full left lock trying to get the car where that R92CP is. The bastard just wouldn't turn and I ended up exiting through the blue. No penalty :odd:. Later in the race i had a bit of a battle with another R92CP. I passed him when he made a mistake, but he closed in on Mulsanne (I could see that coming), stuck behind me and pulled along side at the second of the three bends on Courbe du Golf. I backed off at the third corner before Indianapolis and let him by. I followed as best as I could and closed the gap a few times, and then he made another mistake. This is when I get to show off my rally skills, a result of trying to avoid him before he ghosted:

Again, no penalty . From that point I pulled a gap and by the end of the race I finished P6 with a 14s lead. I don't think anyone pitted in this race. I've sometimes heard the drivers of prototype cars referred to as pilots. I think this might be why:

SR 99, DR up 100+. Another day above DR 1 :dopey:.

You guys are lucky ... Kudos - https://www.kudosprime.com/gts/rankings.php?sec=daily - isn't revealing Australia/NZ ... it shows that Oceana includes China, Japan, Malaysia ... but not Australia or New Zealand, who have disappeared it seems. A bit of a shame about that.
Yes, it's a big mess right now, but don't worry, i started to look at it today.
The reason is that following the previous update with the region split, PD didn't setup the official website correctly. I had to manually generate events and regions data without knowing what they would be once fixed, and now that PD fixed it, their regions don't match K' anymore. I need to remap everything and check for inconsistencies on previous leaderboards.
I expect to have all region leaderboards up by the end of the day.

So you went 8th to 2nd to 8th to 1st?

Got a replay? I'd like to watch that.

I did, I can’t remember if I saved it or not, I got excited lol, if I did I’ll upload it for sure though. It was my best race yet from the back, I’ll check shortly when I get on. :)

Edit: Looks like I forgot to save it in all the excitement, damm that sucks. Oh well, hopefully if there’s a next time and I’ll remember to save it.

I got bored of Tokyo rather quickly. It's pretty in HDR yet the layout is rather dull. It's short as well, but fun to give those annoying bumper bumpers penalties. Touch my back, I touch the wall, bye.

Back on Sarthe I got my new years win :)
ihcd.jpg

The fast ones were still sleeping off their hangover I guess, only 12 in the room, started 11th.

The race before I got punted off in Mulsanne in lap 1 and lap 3, plus run of at Arnage, still finished 4th despite that. Messy drivers. The one after the victory had the pro crowd join again, I made it to 6th from 17th with the clean race bonus. I should have had 5th, yet 4th was swerving so badly out of the final corner he rammed me out of the way, opening the door for 6th to take my place.

Sarthe is much more fun than Tokyo this week, yet I wouldn't mind driving the other new Tokyo layout at night. Night time Tokyo looks so lovely. Of course night time N24 for daily C next week would be perfection. Actually why not represent the time of day with the tracks, switch it to the closest the actual time is at to make these weeklies a little more dynamic.

Nice work on the Dub!! I’ve been doing the exact same thing on Tokyo, bump me and I rub the wall slightly, enjoy your 5s lol. So many rammers out there on that track. I’ve given up on race C, the straight needs the chicanes on that track with those cars I find.

I was running a few laps this morning waiting for Race A to start and my wife came out to talk for a minute and didn’t I forget to restart and crossed the line, dammit, 57.098, ended up starting 2nd in my next race and won by less than a tenth. It turned out to be a good clean race and 3 of us were battling it out cleanly for 6/7 laps then one guy fell back and the guy in second couldn’t get past my rear bumper to make anything happen but he was within a couple car lengths the entire time, it ended up being a good race but now I’m stuck with a Q time all week for race A. Oh well I guess I’ll see how many Dubs I can rack up lol. I’m up to 2 now. :)

Qualifying on Bluemoon can be a curse, good luck on T1 :) I did get many wins with qualifying there, I'm sitting on 44 wins out of 187 races on BMB, highest percentage wins of all tracks. Of course most of that was with bump drafting down in SR.B to SR.D. Actually my highest win ratio is on Alsace reverse, 15 out of 34. I don't even like that track.

Last race on Sarth a one stop won! Only because I let him go first into the Porsche curves, uh huh. He was doing 3:05 while the no stoppers were doing 3:10 at best. (3:12 last lap) He was ahead in first when he pitted, dropped to 5th and made it back to first with 3 sec lead at the finish. I finished 4th. Fun race.

If I didn’t qualify for races I guess I just wouldn’t feel as much challenge. I just don’t get it. Thing is, flying by less experienced drivers?
I dunno, it just doesn’t appeal to me. I may run no qual on c if I race it this week the first time, but only because I wanna get a sense of what the racing is like in terms of pace with my peers and I don’t wanna ruin a race by being too slow.
For myself, I qualify because I like the challenge of running neck and neck with people near me and better than me. For myself, the faster and cleaner the races the more fun it is. Starting behind people I already know I am faster than? It prevents me from getting the best out of the game. Good for farming sr I guess.
I wouldn’t be surprised running into people pissed off who ram you off either doing that. Maybe they feel they are being trolled?
I’ve considered a no qual strategy due to it being espoused here, but I don’t see the point.
Overtaking someone at or above your level or going several laps in a tight battle for me is what is the best experience of the game.
Overtaking people less skilled than myself? Not so much. I qualify so I get away from those folk.
Plus there’s the aspect that maybe one of the folks in the back is having a personal best run, and maybe I’m way faster and give them a nudge as I go by that screws em up or accidentally hit them when they brake too early.
I dunno.
I like the aspect of sport mode, the fact that something ok just a score is on paper, something is at risk. Ok no real big deal in life but it’s there.
I dunno, that’s my take. Id always rather start near folks that are not way slower than me.

Starting from the back can be fun. It's a challenge to see how close to the front you can get. I did a few race Cs this morning, starting at the rear, and had to absorb just way too much contact in working my way forward. I figured I might as well just qualify and start up front, in order to preserve SR, by not having to pass a bunch of cars. Didn't happen like I expected. I think I only had contact with another car one time, and got a -2 SR for the race. But it got me this, too-->

It's matchmaking that makes you start behind slower people though. It's also matchmaking that makes qualifying boring most of the time, for me at least. Races where nothing happens than a gap growing to the front and behind are the worst. Somehow I get into close clean multi lap battles with similar paced drivers much more often when not qualifying. I guess they get slowed down in the lap 1 mayhem, sometimes come from behind after crashing.

It's certainly not good for farming SR though. The challenge to me is recognizing on the fly what each driver is capable of and adjusting my lines and braking points to never touch anyone. Slower drivers are usually more safe with me behind, I've absorbed many blows from less patient drivers while giving the car ahead space. Besides that, when I pass, the car I just passed gets a nice draft until I get out of range.

It's different than going full out from the start for sure. Yet every race is different which is what keeps me playing so much. The purest way to race would be with no one qualifying and eventually DR will sort people on race pace. (Track dependent of course) Qualifying messes with the point exchange system ;)

If there were enough people of similar pace in races then I would qualify more often. It seems Sunday evening is the busiest, so I did qualify last Sunday. Still got into plenty boring watch the gaps grow races. It would be nice if you could erase your quali time. Qualifying is fun during prime time, yet in off hours it only makes lonely races.

I have to agree this weeks choices are bleh. Got spoiled. I've really liked the past few weeks.

Race A.... beautiful car, to look at, handles like a torpedo in a cross current. Race B... been mixed for me today some good drivers, some just ignoring others and keeping the gas down. Although C is classic, my skill is not there yet, I stick to Gr.3 and lower. Or I have to somehow nail my brakes to the ground.

I downloaded the GT4 mascot livery, put it on my Ford GT and went back to Tokyo once more. I was originally third on the grid, but the polesitter, an A+ driver with a Q time of under 1:32 got disconnected (thank God ) so I started second. I botched the Death Chicane on lap 1 and was really lucky to not get a penalty  Then I slowly chipped away at the leader's 3s advantage as he kept losing tiny bits of time at the chicane and was on his bumper by the last lap, at which time he started swerving frantically to block me. He was served a shiny 4s penalty for his valiant effort. He slowed down on the homestretch only to finish before he could serve his penalty and get downgraded to 4th place. Greek 1-2 this race! :D

In other news, I caught that race 10 minutes before the entry deadline, so I took advantage of this time to run back and forth in the last sector practicing the chicane. Every time I hit the wall while reversing I got 5 seconds. Ludicrous.

Speaking of next week's races...

I don't know if it's the site glitching but there's about 4 extra races up. I know @Milouse said he was working on leaderboards so it might be down to that

Edit: nvm I think it's the FIA races showing up on the events page as well now

Then lets add Northern isle speedway GR.3 for race B.
Disgusting :yuck::yuck::yuck:

I can't imagine doing anything other than race A.

Here's a tip for race C. Sven alluded to this, yesterday. Since I can't seems to make the R92CP go 5 laps on 1 set of tires ( some people can do it, very well), I've been going non-stop with the Mazda LM55 on mediums. The tire wear is very good, and the AWD is a big help on corner exit. You can eat em up in the curves. It's a bit slower on the straight, but if you lift when the spedo says 225 mph for a half second, then back on it, you won't lose too much time, because then the rev limiter won't kick it down to 216. It's worked really well for me. Beat a lot of Nissans with this car. Good luck.

Well I go back to work tomorrow so it’s back to normal after that, this is that last of the holiday racing. Qualifying didn’t turn out all bad, I got a couple wins and had two really great races with a guy, and another great one on the go with him until lap 7 when a third guy butted in a spun me out. I was able to get my Q time down to 56.709, the time on the edge of the page was in race with a draft, 2nd place always seems to get the FL from the draft. Happy New Years everyone, I hope this year bring lots of great racing for everyone! :D

This is one of the best races I’ve been a part of so far, it was this afternoon, THIS, is how racing should be, a clean, fast, back and forth battle for all10 laps, and no bumps! This was a super fun race and I nearly pulled it off, but I geared down one to many in the final turn and ended up in 3rd instead of 4th gear, so I couldn’t catch him on the home stretch. Watching the video after I realized I forgot to turn TCS off for that race, so it was set on 3 the entire race haha, have that off might have helped too lol. :)

I like your notes for the 16:40 race.
I've tangled with that dude many times. I've only ever seen him in race A.

What a great day of racing yesterday. The good thing about the regional split is that there aren't as many fast drivers to worry about. I end up spending less time buried in the pack and suffering at the hands of idiots. I managed to get two wins, which I haven't done for a long time. I got the first one in Race A, which was a heap of fun. The great thing about speedway racing is that the places change constantly, and it's not a foregone conclusion until the last corner. Slipstream battles are always a blast. My second win came on Tokyo Expressway in the Mercedes AMG GT GT3. I was first on the grid and pretty much stayed there, clobbering the opposition as if it was crappy AI. I finished 6.5 seconds ahead of the guy in second.

Yeah he seems like a real winner, me and JoeRaiderFan were having another wicked race and then he butts his nose in and spun me out, I had to block another guy earlier who was even worse. I didn’t see that guy after that so I wonder if matchmatching takes blocked people into account? Could be a good way to weed out the people you don’t want to run into again on the track. :)

All good and well when you're a DR/A. Different story at the other end. Match fixing gives priority to SR. The bulk of the au/nz SR/S are DR/B. There's usually only a few DR/Ds in my races and we are all stuck right at the back and everyone else from our stand point are the "fast drivers". At least with us being part of Asia I was placed in DR/D and DR/D/C grids.

I think it only blocks messages from that person. Could be wrong, though.

Yes it only prevents them from messaging you on psn. You will still be matched with them and you will still see what they type in the chat. Blocking has no effect on the game. Getting your SR up will get you away from them :)

This Sarthe race isn't as bad as I thought. If you qualy 1st or 2nd you can really get ahead of the pack because 3rd and 4th get royally screwed on the rolling start. Both races I was almost completely by myself, which is the opposite of what I thought would happen.

Finally got a Sport win in a Group C car which is something I've always wanted. Too bad the other ones aren't competitive, I would like to use the Jag.

Not bad at my first race on the new track (Race B). From 10 to 3. People was bad driving and lagging. I say people with bad connection shouldn’t play this game. Its impossible to tell where the lagging driver is.
