I just saw sturk0167 at Fuji. He started 4th, I started 5th. Unfortunately he caught a tire and I was able to pass and gain a spot. He almost caught up at the end, probably cut the gap in half. Yes I was checking the rear view the whole time.

Anyways, I finished 4th. Gained 1 position. Clean Race bonus.....and 4 DR points. lol. Not complaining. Just thought it was funny. 4 points.

You, Sir, are a GOD! I haven't been able to beat my 1:52.4...I don't know how I can compete with that!

You’ll get there, hard work and patience will eventually pay off. I have a really hard time with Interlagos as well, I just can’t seem to get the hang of it like I can with other tracks and I don’t know what it is, yet, it’s a very tricky track. :)

Edit: I thought I read Race B lol, My bad. :D

Like no race driver has ever crashed before... ;)

I was just pointing something out. Not expecting you to over analyse things what is said...

But close wheel and fair racing can happen in GT Sport:

So yesterday, I tried the WRX again at Interlagos. Improved my quali with a time of 1:32.3. Started my race in 9th, but also finished 9th. Saw my DR yet again drop with 70 points this time...

I've also put in a lap for Race C. Set a lap of 1:49.7. Optimal is 1:49.4, so I can still go a bit quicker I think.

Improvement is upon us!

I did a 1:49.7 yesterday. Today I've set a 1:49.4 at first. Started my race down in 12th before gaining places, because cars flew off the track in front of me. Lots of yellow flag situations. Before I knew I was up in 8th. Went for the undercut and pitted at lap 4. I was worried, because I've exited right behind another car and I wasn't able to get past him before the 130R. So I thought I lost tremendous amount of time. Cars ahead went to the pit and when I was going past the grandstand, I was up in 6th with cars that are faster behind me. They caught up and soon two cars went past me, one who thought there was enough space to get past me halfway through the hairpin. We collided, I lost some time because of that. In the end I finished up in 9th, which gave me DR +700 points!

Afterwards I went for another quali, because I thought there was more in it. Crushed my best time: 1:49.1! Optimal is a 1:48.6. Hoping soon to get under the 49's!

So you see, practice makes better!

The Corvette, Ford GT LM, and SLS races are all lights to flag victories with no issues, but the Z4 race has a Korean attempting to divebomb into me at T1 on Lap 2, but I saw that coming and let him overshoot the corner as I escaped unscathed and pull a gap to get my 58th Sport Mode win. But that race is noted for this:

Yes, I ended up receiving the trophy at Senna's home track ;).

That was an interesting race. I dead-centered a cone, and went airborne. I'd say I caught a good 10 feet of air. Not really part of the recipe for success at Fuji.

I was ready to race, yet this is all I get from GTS
uMcd.jpg

Right after dismissing the intro video, it flashes online save, then this.

I restarted the game 3 times and I am connected to psn just fine. I can see others playing GTS etc. I restarted the ps4, same thing. It was working fine this morning.

Ah, finally, 5th attempt the game loads. Race long started of course. Game keeps getting better....

Well I give up for tonight. I managed to get into one race with @NosOsH, got punted off twice in the first half, resetting my clean streak again. Congratulations to the winner @NosOsH. I made it to 7th eventually, 7 positions up with door number 7, triple 7, I'll take it.

Then I restarted the game to avoid the disconnect / throw back to race select screen on loading, and now it won't get past the online save again after the into video starts. Why does it even need to save, I haven't done anything yet. I hear the menu music, nothing but a black screen as above.

Ahh!!! 5 minutes later it's suddenly there. 8:33, race started, never mind. Goodnight.

while what I said is te

Um...... Yeah. Technically, what I said was correct, but I also cannot get below 1:52.5 (I was thinking of Interlagos).
I feel your pain with Suzuka. Maybe we should race there. I'll pass you in Dunlop, and you can watch me touch the outside edge as I turn into Degner and loop it!

My luck is running out. Had some bad races at Interlagos. I managed to improve my time a bit but the thing is I turned on ASM...I know. I seem quicker with that for some reason. I can’t explain it.

Suzuka. I am getting better but I’m still too slow. 1:54.047. I haven’t done a race there.

I screwed up then tried to get back on then had grip then lost grip bleeeerrrggh.

Earlier I was passing a guy for p2, I hit him into p1 in the last race but was sure he braked early and told him as much. Anyway, he barged me off.

I followed him for 3 full laps and he was breaking considerably earlier than me into every corner, it's just the way he drives but it caught me out and he got peeved.

Man, racing in the day is gold, behaviour is outstanding.

Was I too polite at 7.30? It was a race long battle between us, i gave him a nudge on lap 2 and let him re-pass as thought it unfair but was all over him for a lot of the race. At 7.30 I could have gone for it but decided it was too risky.

Thoughts?

I think that one depends on the situation. In that case if that guy was a jerk I’m taking his inside anytime I can, if he were not, I probably would have tucked back into the faster line behind him sooner and tried to get a run into the next brake zone. Had there been someone on your tail you would have been a sitting duck. I don’t drive the Aston, so hard to relate cars, but in the vette generally I try to pull em on the straight.

So, I jumped in with 2 min for my one race on c.
Fast room. I started dfl. I was up to I think 8th and caught my left rear t1 and spun. I recovered, but missed top ten.
Sr 99. It’s easy to get caught out at Suzuka, but now after driving it more in gr2 I like it.

Spent some time working on my new seat. After I got the pedals fixed, I was trying to get the seat/wheel position to work. Was lapping Suzuka to try it out. I think I have it where it works best, and I'm getting used to the lower angle on the tv. Definitely going to be a better platform for racing. Got my Q down to a 1:51.6xx and am starting to feel like I'm getting a handle on this track with the gr2. Optimal was a 51.2, but I only had 3 laps on that stint since I kept re-starting the session after adjustments. I would bet my optimal for all my laps would be more like a 50.6 because when I did that stint I didn't nail turn 1-2 or spoon as well as I did earlier, and I wasn't as tight through the esses. I know I have 50's in me now.

It took me a little while to get used to the wheel but as I got faster and more consistent I realised it was the braking that I was losing out on. Perhaps it is easier for young players who don't drive on public roads but in a real car you brake easy and gradually (on the road not track). When using a DS4 a twitch of the finger is effectively slamming on the brakes so you don't realise you are doing it. I chose the G29 specifically because it had good pedals for the price and I am impressed. Having watched a replay of a Gr3 race at Interlagos I from a few weeks back however I reckon that to be as aggressive on braking as I was with a controller I'd need to put my foot through the floor. Perhaps I'll make up the speed on being smooth and consistent, where the controller is more point and squirt. If you are not already, left foot braking is of course best...though you are already faster than me.

As for automatic, I drive both auto and manual in RL (for a lot more years than someone who plays racing games should admit) so the thought process involved in changing gear is second nature.

I also watched an older race in daily race at Interlagos with the controller. The biggest problem I have with braking with the pedals is consistency. I noticed in the controller replay that I could hit my braking points lap after lap. Being inconsistent in a race becomes a problem even when starting from pole. I'm thinking about getting the load cell mod because I think it might help.

I am left foot breaking. First thing I did to the pedals was move the clutch and brake pedal to the left to create more space between the brake and gas pedal. Can I ad you on PSN? GTS only keeps a top 10 of the fastest drivers and people in your friends list and I'd like to compare my times to others with similar pace. Am also interested in seeing how another new wheel user progresses:) My PSN id is: Quin_slowcom

Had a short go at a fast lap without tcs in the lexus RC F GT3. 1.33.551

Race A this morning qualified with a 1:32.964 in the TT Cup.

Started 8th. Was all going nicely making up quite a few position as a result of other people’s mistakes. I see one guy constantly dive bombing every corner. He takes out 3 people on T1 lap 3.

The beginning of lap4 sees me involved in a 3 way fight for 3rd place. The dive bomber comes roaring up and takes us all out at T1 and I get a 3s penalty to add insult to injury!

Then I had to deal with an angry German driver who was probably mad at the divebomber but decided to lash out at the wrong people and divebomb me at every corner.

Ended up 7th and down to SR C. I want to get out of SR B hell!

Just run a few races from the back to get your SR up, it’s easier to do so from the back where there is no traffic. :)

If you're running 1:32.9's then just drive away from everyone and get a clean race bonus!

Had a wonderful Race C at 12 o'clock

After several attemps in the last days, where I always was kicked out by some guys, I managed to win this race.
Started 2nd with a 1:52.079
The guy behind me was unfair and kicked me out, but the Pole Setter was very fair, made a mistake and then let me pass - this happens really seldom in GT Sport

Very happy, cause the Gr.2 Raybrig NSX is hard to drive on the limit at Suzuka

Race C and I managed to beat my NSX time with the Lexus. That put me P7/11 on a mixed grid of DR/B-D and mixed SR/S-A.

Race starts and it doesn't take long for the handling to be radically different to qualifying. The tyres seem to go off pretty quickly with the Lexus. I stupidly got used to using the cones for my braking point for the chicane on lap 3. I didn't recognise in time the single remaining one and slid into the barrier. That really screwed up the handling which lead to another off so I pitted lap 5 for new boots. The other cars I could make it to lap 7. Granted the tyres were totally shot by lap 9 but I managed a no stop with the old GT-R. Anyway back to the race!

I came out of the pits P10 and a loong way of from the guys in front. I slowly started to reel in the person in front. The tyres were going off the last couple of laps for some and in the end I finished P7. I wasn't too disappointed with this, because I was more interested in regaining some of the 10 SR I lost last night.

Despite seeing a few orange SRs (aparently you get an orange SR if you are going too slow in corners with traffic behind you even if there is no contact ). I regained the 10 SR and lost about 20 DR. Still hanging on the DR/C, but the downward trend bact to DR/D has started. Day 8 on the DR/C road .

I've been lapping Interlagos for 55 minutes in the SLS trying to improve my quali time, and then decided to switch to the Huracán and, after watching gilles_honda_v12's lap, I was finally improve my Race B time to a 1:31.893.

He was good to race, very good to race, so maybe i did the right thing as I am not great through that corner.

The Aston is MONSTER through S1 and S3 at interlagos, i am baffled more folks don't use it. only the Mustang hangs with it on the straights and it has far better brakes than the Ford IMHO. It struggles a bit in S2, especially changes of direction but I view porsches with glee as i gobble them up in from the last turn through to the tyricky left at the end of S1.

Had a Crash and Burn BUT turned it around with patience and a bit of luck.

So while having fun running race after race with great clean drivers I took a bad penalty from a guy and another, then another, like WTF keeps banging me going into corners cuz he's braking too late and by keeping the car together despite this aint helping cuz he's still on my butt. I let him go by and with nobody to use in corners to keep him on the track the Jerk slide wide and off track I slip by thinking he's done. Nope on full tilt nails me in T1 spinning me off and a great 5 second penalty on top of it.

Here is where I really messed up. Recoverred and due to his overshooting corners I caught back up on last lap and pass him T1 cuz he went wide. Im praying I got enough gap to be out his way on his bombing but nope on T3 wide right turn sure enough he comes on the inside of me, pushes wide and me off the track, he got a penalty but I was livid mad and here is where I really messed up :( next corner I returned the Favor. Zero brakes right into him on the inside I send him to the moon spinning take a penalty for in I'm like DAMMIT all in all 4 or 5 penalties one of them deliberate I was thinking I'm taking a big hit but HOLY CRAP dropped to SR18

SR18, serously SR18, I had maybe 10 super clean races while sitting at 99 thinking I might have some leway but nooooope SR 18. That was the night before yesterday.

After work Yesterday I settled in to get back my SR fighting from ground Zero. The crowd is AWFUL at this level and I was getting discouraged.

I will not Fleece my SR period, not going to cheap my way to better stats, I cant to it. Couple times while race loading Im telling myself let them go by but on track I just can't do it. I will give them room to hang themselves.

Here is how you get back to SR99 from SR 18

Step one, had to better my qualifying time.

This is critical. A poor wualifying time had me mid pack fighting from the middle. Hard spot to be in but with a better qualifying time start further to the front. This was critical as if you can get in and out of T1 fast enough all the Shenanigans go on behind you. I by no means made a remarkable Q time only 43.1 but it was enough so that I most often start 1st through 4th and a few races the front pack of 2 or 3 cars would get some space on the rest. This was beautiful for me as I was far enough ahead of the newbs and violators to not get banged out and I could ride with guys up front letting them bang around a bit without getting involved. I started getting a few clean in a row (got my 3 clean race achievement :D but couldn't get to 6 :( ) however mega boost of my SR during this time, got up to 40 something and as my SR started climbing the races got better drivers got faster and cleaner.

Step 2 is shoot for consecutive clean race bonus, make this priority. Someone is pressing your rear, let them go, dont block, don't manipulate the line on corner entry (take a line in that forces trailing car to compromise his line) avoid contact like the plague and drive correct.

And now back to

Good call.
I tried the Aston a couple weeks ago. It’s a very strong car, but I like driving the vette. I haven’t focused on that race this week much. I do know the viper and vette are strong also on the straights IF you get the exit right.
I’ve outrun Stangs and been outrun also. IMO it goes to how early full power gets down on exit.
I’m similar to you strategy wise. Number one drive clean.
Last night I started last on c, but I’d rather race those folks (faster drivers high sr even if I start lower)it’s just more fun.
I think I hit 25kdr yesterday first time. I find all that comes via maintaining high sr.

I managed a 1.31.6 in the SLS. Try +2 break bias. 3rd gear for T1, 3rd gear for the turn-in into 4th gear midway through Ferradura to cancel out the oversteer.

I'm not really in a position to 'coach' since i'm far from an alien but your biggest issue right now is not utilizing all of the available track and poor timing with breaking and hitting the apex.
