I know it's been mentioned by really, the game has to kick any player with red lag from the lobby. Some really stupid stuff last night with cars beaming themselves into my cockpit. Very annoying. Anyhoo...

One thing that's IMO important for speed with the wheel is to use the accelerator while braking to balance the front and rear of the car - even a prod of the accelerator while you first brake. Its not actually trail braking which is a seperate technique. Knowing about the technique can reveal why some laps were faster than others too, as sometimes we do it without realising, having the throttle on while first braking.

Some good drivers blip the throttle while going doing the gears - but I don't know why they do that???

On your new pedals, there are some great upgrade kits for the brake pedals for the G29, worth checking them out IMO.

Funny you mention that. Last night I found that I was not even trail braking with the pedals as I would with the controller. Again, probably because a twitch of the finger is so subtle but putting your foot down requires an actual thoughtful act I was simply forgetting to do it. Once I noted what I was missing it really helped, especially with the turn in on the winding bits on the back end of Interlagos. Thanks for the info!

I've managed to drop from 15,000 to 2,000 with the controller but then from reading the forum I did expect that so no worries. It took me most of the week to actually find what car I liked. It turned out that on controller it was Vantage, Mustang, AMG while on wheel it was Atenza, VW Thing and favourite turned out to be Lancer.

I did claw a couple of results though so just off 4K again now. Really frustrating and nearly laughable was that I clocked my best Interlagos times last night just before races. Each time I was on a hot lap sub 1.34 the timer would expire and the race would start. I was literally about to cross the line twice as the screen went black.

One very fun race where I started 4th, 1st to 5th were separated by less than a single second and drove like a train for the 5 laps. Some overtakes were threatened but nobody did anything stupid. Super clean and real nose to tail stuff. Next race I started 7th, lap 1 turn 4 (Descida de Lago?) I was pushed off the track. What followed was the most fun I had all week. Coming back on track in 14th I got to 10th by the home straight, then took 9th, 8th, 7th and eventually 6th just on the line. The only pity was when I look at my lap times had I not been punted I was well in with a top finish. Good fun though.

I managed to go from Dr d Sr d in daily race A to Dr c Sr s in daily race c over a couple of days.

I find the faster races to be more safe. I'll miss daily race c this week. A good bit of adrenaline from that race.

I'm not sold on the daily races this week will try it out later.

New to game, although not new to racing games - im not an especially quick driver but i like fair racing, thus far GT sport seems cleanrer than many others, although i was a little dissapointed to see people with A safety ratings massively divebombing (especially at interlagos), got taken out twice, in the end i saw the divebomb coming so stayed wide and avoided it but meant it dropped my times even further.

Fuji i enjoyed, although i seem to prefer Grp 4 cars - eventually settled on the Scirocco as it felt the most fun to drive, even won a race, set a time of 1.43.4xx in quali ad had many close races

Struggled like hell at interlagos, track i know best from F1 but found the Grp 3 cars very very twitchy to the point i struggled to maintain flow, quali time 1.34.7xx was my best so generally started 9-12th. Tried so many cars, Everyone seemed to be setting quickest times in the mustang but found it very rear happy, i tried the R8 and the 650s but find the MR drivetrain very very nervous on corner turn in so i hold no speed. Did the GT R, the AMG etc, eventually felt the beetle was where i could be most consistent but still only 1.35.1xx

Obviously have more to learn where group 3 is concerned. Didnt have a group 2 car so didnt try that, will give the ones tonight a go

Agree...

I think it'd been alot better as a N200 category race.
I would too. But unfortunately, that would probably turn into a defacto S-FR racing concept one-make like it did in the FIA race two weeks ago.
The N category is so unbalanced. GR4 too.

Agreed. This and many other items should be added to the racing etiquette course. I’m sure people don’t know there is a rule around exiting the pits beside the speed limit. Easy enough to assign a penalty for crossing the line.

While they are at it, assign a penalty for bumping a car in front of you. I think they have this backwards. In fact, I know they do. We all comment about it. My races end with a disappointing result typically after I’m hit from behind. I have accidentally hit people too, basically ruining their race. I should get a penalty, so should we all. Thoughts?

Would daily races be more fun, with realistic rules in place, after drivers were better trained by a more intense racing etiquette course?

Also works the other way...drivers on the track are not supposed to race up the pit lane exit. Take the straight at Monza for example where the pit exit has become an undertaking lane. That should get a time penalty just the same as cutting a corner.

Absolutely great point! I’m glad you mentioned it. I see people crossing into the exit space as well. I meant to point that out.

I kinda like the selection.

Would of preferred an old school Mini to a Fiart 500, people raced the Mini lol The Fiart is a Joke but its good for those that need to slow things down and learn that to be a good racer it takes more than being good at Time Trials lol

Tskuba in an 86 is the only meh race but Spec 86 racing is entry level racing type stuff so maybe nit interesting for guys playing a while it should be good for new people playing.

I dont know the Dragons Tail track but I do know Gr4 cars a bit. Great step up level from racing regular cars. Ill have to learn the track but I think this one will be fun

Two races for me tonight. First race, for some inexplicable reason Race A. I know one makes, especially slow car one makes are a DR killer for me, yet I entered anyway. Started P4/6 with a mix of DR/C and DR/D.

The start caught me offguard. Didn't realise it was a standing start till I saw the lights and took my thumb off the throttle before the lights started. Green green green and off I go. I went up a place after the chicane and held that for several laps. I had a 2s lead, but blew it on the final corner and was passed with one lap to go. I stuck like glue to the car who passed but just couldn't bust a move :scared:. Finished P4 with a clean race bonus.

SR 99. Dropped a tad over 100 DR.

Next race, Race B. Saw @05XR8 :gtpflag:. We started in similar positions. He started second from the top... I started second from the bottom . Grid of 8 with an A at the top, a D at the bottom, three Bs followed by 3 Cs in the middle.

The race was fairly quiet at my end. I gained a couple of positions then lost one to finish P6 in the rexy. I have to make sure to change my Gr4 liveries back to my personal one. I have a number of cars still dressed up for Bathurst.

SR still 99, DR dropped 20. Day 11 on the yellow brick road of DR/C, and the numbers are slowly dropping. Can I survive another 11 days to beat my record? :odd:

Yeah. Weird one. I was sticking to P1 like glue. Lap 2, P1 gets 1 second penalty. Next, I get 2 second red dunce cap. Lap 3, P1 gets another second added. So we're both on 2.03 seconds.

The RC F was hooked up and P1 's Huracan was all over the place.
Thing is, I bound off the inside curb at the chicane exit. Didn't change my line, but the car just warbled. Lost my rhythm and that was that. Now I was all over the place and P1 was hooked up and pulled away, for a 2 second gap at finish.

I think its a really good track, flows very well, perhaps 1 downfall is most of the corners are sweeping ones that can be taken at speed, i'd say maybe 2 places for an overtake really.

Sweet, I love tracks with long fast sweeping corners, it’s the hairpins and tight corners were I lose the most time, I’m thinking I might race B this week, I need to be off work now lol.

Im hunting consecutive clean races with the Fiart. Decent Q time Im starting at the front, and been taking podium if not the W got 5 clean races in a row going for the 6th now, I really want the achievement hitting 16 in a row. I've been gaining some DR in this one back over 20k. Running clean with a good Q time DR should start adding up.

I decided to make a comback to the daily races last week. I had finished 5th at Daily Race A last week. Today, I had my 99th daily race victory and the first one I had this year. Here's the video to prove it below.

The races this week are terrible.

Race A (assuming the unofficial GTS companion app is correct) is a middle finger to those who actually like tuning because it’s in the most ridiculous category that has no effect on the field, not to mention I’m pretty sure this combination of the 500F on Maggiore happened already.

Race C with the 86 on Tsukuba has also happened already.

Race B should’ve been Race C, but I’m pretty sure now that it’ll potentially be a near one-make because of no tire wear.

I'm going to kiss my DR goodbye this week. I'm at 35k right now, yet last time I raced the daily B without qualifying in GR.4 I dropped to 15K. That was on one of my best tracks. DT gardens is meh so perhaps I'll make it to DR.C this week, trifecta of bad, GR.4 + bad track + daily B. My DR simply adjusts to what track I'm racing each week, it has no consistency yet does tell me how I rank on each track.

I'll be at DT: Gardens, far from my favorite, yet the other too are much worse.

If you get a draft on the straight you can take on the 1st "long sweeping bend". If you get a good run on the straight you don't even need to make a move as such. Just keep up tight and the guy in front can run the risk of being too conscious of the car up his tail and go into T1 too fast. He drifts wide and you keep a neat line up the inside. Defend in tight left for the hard left-right turn 2 and 3 and you're up. Next over take though is coming out of 3 so you need to make sure you don't lost the place right back.

I am actually a big fan of Gardens, really like it. My one pain point is that to turn a fast lap you MUST swing left to take the chicane on the correct line and people try to stuff their car up the inside into a gap that vanishes and then there's contact. if you don't swing left and the guy behind does, he's gonna eat you alive on the back straight.

Wow, take a dozen or two hours off and you have 3 pages to read through!
Tough couple weeks for me. Raced Suzuka a couple times last night. Got to follow @Pigems for a while before I blew it. Best race was probably my last. Had a guy behind thad kept tapping me. He was faster than me, especially through the chicane and into the hairpin, and probaby through the esses, but I always pulled a couple tenths through Degner and almost always coming out of Spoon. Even though he closed in the chicane, he could never get any overlap by turn 1. He flashed lights and bumped, but no overlap. If he had got next to me at any point, I would have backed off and conceded the position, but I'm not going to pull over and park. He finally got by me by bouncing me off the wall going into the pits. I wasn't happy, but he did put 3 to 5 tenths a lap on me, so I can't bitch too much. I was running 8th after pitting (I think?) at a comfortable pace (I thought), then I caught too much curb, or fed too much throttle coming out of T2 and spun. I got to wave at @Sven Jurgens as he went by...and everyone else.
I have also been struggling at Interlagos. Over driving I think, so I decided to run some laps it one of the more difficult cars I have, to maybe break the bad habits. Got in the Ferarri, which is an oversteer monster, and did some respectible laps in it. It's way to nervous for me to race there, but I did race the Ford GT, the Vette and the Aston to mix things up. Finishes weren't great, but in all cases but one, I was hit and knocked off track, so I don't feel too bad. I did get knocked wide in T4 and fell to 11th or 12th and climbed my way back to 6th in 3 1/2 laps. I was a bit mad...he was another headlight flasher that couldn't make a pass, and I was more aggressive than usuall getting back to 6th, but no SR downs or penalties. I caught and passed the guy in T1 at the start of L5. He went wide, and I went by. I think he ended outside the top 10.

I think this week, as boring as it looks, I might pull a @Sven Jurgens and not qualify to work on my racecraft. I'm not getting any wins if I keep making mistakes, so I need to rein it in a bit...
On that note, I feel like I do well at the Tokyo tracks, both in Q and race pace, and I may have figured out why. I seem to make the most "lap ending" mistakes by getting upset by curbs, but at a lot of tracks, you can't be competitive without using them. I don't have to deal with that in Tokyo. I have no trouble running inches off of the wall, but throw in some curbing, and it will bite me eventually. How about GR 1 or 2 at Tokyo.:D

I was thinking Turn 1 maybe, then 8 (after the drop) and maybe the last corner if you get a good run off chicane but tbh i've not raced with the best yet to see how it should be done, like above only real concern would be some people trying to divebomb at the chicane

If you go to race A, this week, just make sure you don't hit the curb on the inside of turn 1. That Fiat will flip right over. :ouch: I did it 3 times, this morning, while doing qualifying laps.

Went to my garage to run some practice laps on Tsukuba and found out I only have 1 Toyota 86 that qualifies. I thought I had like 10 of those. lol.

Thinking about curbs, and helecopters, and the jump people were taking in the chicane in Tokyo, and I was wondering if the game would hit you with an out of bounds penalty if you cut a corner, but never touched a wheel out of bounds because you were airborn. Hmmm.....

Damn, I wish I could still play so I could race my Initial D replica 86 around Tsukuba :( Gr.4 Dragon Trail sounds interesting and the Fiat 500 one make is pretty much a meme :p

Would this describe you on the road?

Always look both ways for rolling cars.

From memory it’s T4 that causes havoc rather than the chicaine. There’s a good run up to it and a couple of lines around it work. I still love @Tidgney doing it a while back in a Pug, entering T4, through the middle of 2 other cars and coming out ahead of them both.

What’s the car for race A this week? Also what’s everyone using for race B so far? Monday’s are always such long days at work now waiting to get home and race. :)

Last time at Gardens I used the Evo. Got a 1.39 qually time and a couple of wins too.

Will try the Lambo first his time.
