Naw I was using the Porsche, I’m gonna try the R8 next though because I keep hearing that it’s easy to drive now. It was brutal before the last update, let off the throttle and it would do a donut lol, the snap oversteer was bad. I’m still learning to catch the faster cars and I’m not very good at it yet, couple that with a heavy right foot and it spells disaster without TCS 2. :)

I find it's best at -3 brake balance. It's strange because I find the Ferrari best at -2, so I expected the R8 to be at -2 or -1, but I always go fastest with it set at -3.

Thanks for the tip. And for the record, I am actively working on getting off of the TCS as well. But as of right now I’m slower without it because I’m either too timid to hit the gas or I hit it too early/hard and spin out. :)

I tried the porsche to but it was to hard for me to control on this track. I can get the R8 round the track without spinning with TCS at 0. You should definitely try it. Mind if I ad you to PSN?

It used to be my worst track.

I'm at 1:57.1 t the moment with the R8. (and I am leaving for a vacation so it won't get better).

Nurb GP is very, very, very much an apex track. if you miss the apex by even a little, you lose A LOT of time.

The Ferrari is surprisingly good there. I have put it into the 57's during races and have 1 win and 2 podiums on three tries.

For the love of all that is holy, TURN OFF YOUR TCS!!!!!! TCS will rob you of time. Seriously, turn it off and start qualifying without it. It takes very little time to get used to it. In the time it takes to come to the forum, you could have accustomed yourself to driving without TCS.

Tcs on, but try not to actuate it much works best for me.
It’s a safety net. I’d rather be slower if I make an error than spinning out of control.
Run the m6 or AMG or Vette sans tcs and imo you’re good.
You have to be good for no tcs.
Also, I really can only run a given gr3 decent by time in practice and knowing it’s strengths and weaknesses. I can’t just switch cars without a ton of time. They drive so differently,
Cockpit views are diff, etc etc. I have a lot of time into Nurb GP over the last year and several wins.
I am not a top driver like yourself.

Bored, can't race, so excuse my long winded post please.

Nurburgring GP is an awesome track,
Everyone will have their own way of getting a lap time out of it, this is how i find it.

T1 hit your apex but don't go over the kerb as it will destabilise the car, focus on getting the power down whilst getting across the track for entry to T2 without spinning the rears
T3 sacrifice the exit to carry as much speed as possible through t4 where you can heavily run the inside kerb.
T5 carry as much speed as possible by staying tight to the inside kerbs where its more cambered while not running too wide for t6, both t5 and t6 is also cambered on the inside so be as tight to the kerb as possible.
T7 hairpin you can run deep on the brakes aslong as you apex in time to get on the power for the uphill straight again cambered on the inside so you can carry more mid corner speed than you might normally.
Schumacher S ( t8/9 ) should be flat or just about flat if you nail the line.
S Bend after schumacher S ( t10/11 ) brake on the green part of the track for a better line on entry and swing back across for the right hand part of the S, where you can carry speed but focus on not being wide so you can get on the power for the long straight.
Chicane make sure you prioritise carrying speed rather than latest braking possible and make sure you take as much kerb as possible without getting a penalty.
Neat and tidy through the last bend and viola a good lap time should result.

Car choice either 911rsr or audi r8.

Abs default and TCS 0 are fastest settings ( for wheel users maybe tcs 1 for pad users )

No other assists unless you want csa for stability it doesn't cost much time.

( here's footage of me using those lines, please ignore the terrible track limits t2 and t4 back in those dark days )

If you are spinning the tires, adjust the brake balance forward and downshift once the car has slowed. If you have too much rear brake balance, or if you downshift too quickly, the rears brake to much, overheat, and have no traction on exit.

Once you have that down pat, adjust the brake balance rearward until the car is just slightly loose.

I was going to say...I breath on those turtles the wrong way and I get penalized :D

I forgot to mention this earlier, has anyone else seen this happen before? This was a first for me, the pre race screen scattered everyone from their Qualifying order before warm up.

Then after warm up it fixed itself back to what it was supposed to be lol.

Edit: I just watched the top time for Race A and he did exactly what I intended to try tonight. 4th gear though T1 and T2, 3rd through the tight bits and onto the back straight and stayed in 4th, tight to the inside on the final corner. I’m about to try it now, hopefully I can make it work as good as Turismo-Lester. :D

That's how I got used to it too. I would run solo hot laps with it off to get used to it but if I was too inconsistent and shaky I would turn it on just so I wouldn't screw up the race for the other drivers. I'd rather be slow and fair than fast and a crash landing albatross.

^ That happens quite often, surprised you haven't seen it before. It shows it correctly while loading then scrambles until warm-up is complete. Just another one of those things.

I'm starting to get bored of Big Willow already or rather the car. There's not enough sense of speed, making me sleepy. This track was so much more fun in GR.1

I saw that too - tried it and knocked 0.5 seconds off my time straight away!

Yup, same here. I just haven’t got it around yet lol. I’ve run a 29.9 so far and then gained nearly .5 on that through the first two corners only to muck up on the tight bits and come out on the back straight even with my time heading towards the final corner. I’ll find a way to drag it around thought. I entered the final corner with .7 on my time as well and went off trying to carry to much through the last corner lol. It’s only a matter of time now. :D

Edit: Just checked, Optimal is 29.5 right now so that’s about right compared to yesterday.

Edit 2: Got it! 1:29.5 and I had more around the last corner but spun a little bit and lost it. I think I can go sub 29 by the end of the week with some more work. I love a challenge! :)

This 1000 times. I will never understand why are PD so conservative in the amount of laps. 1 lap last week is ridiculous even for nordschleife.
I agreed in principle, but for the Nords last week, there would not have been enough time for two laps. Most people lapped over 8 minutes so, say 17 minutes just for the race. Add in the pre race warm up, time to get ready before and get results after and there is no way to get it all in in 20 minutes before the next race
Maybe a faster car/tire combo, but not the one we had.

Yes you're right. More than 1 lap at Nords is more fitting for race C.

Anyone ever see a Ford Mustang do a Misty Flip before? :D

That's a pretty good one. 👍 Try going between the red and white billboards, that are right in front of you as get ready to make the final turn onto the front straight. Just go straight, instead of making the turn. They're right in front of you at 1:21 in your fastest lap video. That's where I got the biggest air with the Challenger.

Nice! What is that cracked effect? I need to start making my own decals. Gotta see if I can still fire up my old CorelDraw
Its a decal - a thin bunch of lines. You can duplicate them on the car, and also duplicate to the other side. So I copied them all over the car. They are yellow. Then you can switch the base colour, and the car looks quite different. My Porsche G3 is like that too, I did two versions of it.

Yep, the stress of watching the "applying livery" timer while the clock is reading 1 minute to race start. Nearly as annoying as logging in with just a minute to spare only to find that you have to wait for the stupid carousel to spin around and tell you that you won a Daihatsu Chopin for your "Daily Workout" the night before. :nervous:

@Melbourne Park: The cracked effect can be done just by placing a "web like" pattern over the base paint. So you've simply got a purple car there with a blue pattern over it. The patterns are available from the PD stock decals.

Yep, its a squiggly line decal, that I coloured yellow, and duplicate to the other side (a mirror match), and then duplicate it again and move it along and then duplicate to the other side, duplicate again and progress all over the car. Darn, now it will appear everywhere. I must try a bigger decal I guess. The best thing though is that you can change the base colour so easily, but the decal remains, so if someone wants to get you (like a particular South American who live to punt Sven Jurgens), you can change the colour but still have something different.

Edit: There’s a barrier wall built there now and you can’t jump it. :(

Oh, those jerks! I'm sorry. I guess they changed it. I'll see if I can find a better spot, when I get home.

Haha no worries, I appreciate the suggestion regardless. I’m definitely gonna be on the hunt for bigger jumps in the future though, this is fun! :)

But for now it’s just about time to start racing. :D

yet to run a lap in the dailies. big willow doesn't like me and while i love nurb gp i'm an n-class kinda guy. i s'pose driving in bumper view, it doesn't matter LOL. no interest in fwd. maybe i'll give it a shot tonight.

First race is in the books with a 2nd place finish in a fast room, slowest guy in there was :31.3 I think and all but two in the :30’s, 4/5 in the :29’s. I started 2nd and just touched the gravel on the right coming out of the first corner and had to concede a position to the guy behind me but didn’t lose much speed. Couple laps in the guy in first goes off around the final corner and I’m back in second, me and the then leader had a great run the rest of the way and while I never could quite catch him, he couldn’t get away either and I was just about touching his rear bumper when we crossed the line while the field had fallen back around 4/5 seconds I believe. What a fun race, and I thought it was gonna be crap too because the guy starting 4th has been trouble for me before and called me out in the pre race lobby, so I expected trouble again. He finished 3rd from DFL in front of two DNF’s hehe. Karmas a beeotch. :D

Edit: I’m finally back to DR A now after that race, 31.9k :)

Edit2: Next race featured Mr @Sven Jurgens , always a pleasure. I was starting second but the pole sitter must have been disconnected because after warm up I was on pole. The guy in 2nd hung on well for 3 or so laps before an error put him off the road through the twisty bits and I hind on to clear the field by 5s for a 3 star Dub with FL. I believe @Sven Jurgens finished 6th but may have had interaction with another fella along the way, I’m not certain though.

What a great start to the week, 3 Dubs and a 2nd out of 4 tries so far. I hope this is how the rest of the week goes lol. :)

I'm wondering if switching from auto to manual would make much time difference for me. I've never used it before, because it's one more thing to mess with. But, if you're saying it's only 2 shifts per lap, maybe I'll give it a try for qualifying.

I’m an idiot, I forgot to turn off TCS before the next race and went off track wide in T1 and T5 because I couldn’t turn properly without full throttle control lol. Ended up DFL but clawed back to 8th once I figured out why I couldn’t drive properly haha. Why do I always forget TCS turns back on automatically every race? Grrr.

Aside from that experience though, this Mustang handles like a dream, it’s so much fun to drive. If the real one drives half as nice as this one does in the game it’s no wonder they became so popular back then. What a great car to drive. :)

Hoem from work and the wife went to bex early cuse she don't feel well. An evening at willow is on deck. Hope i can keep building up my dr

I did race A 3 times. First race, got bumped and got a 4 sec penalty from the car hitting me from behind and going off, cost me 2 places at the finish. Second race went decent, I briefly saw @Pigems when he got reset. Third race, got bumped off by a pokey Brazilian nose. That's it for me tonight, not feeling it. I wish this was a no contact sport, so tired of getting bumped around all the time.

I just got absolutely ROBBED by the Yellow Flag right at the end lol, please tell me it’s a penalty to pass on a yellow flag??

I played it perfectly in the last 3 corners and had the speed on him through the final one after just nearly avoiding bumping him and right as I’m making my move in the last stretch, BAM, Yellow flag, I had to let off assuming I’d get a penalty for passing and end up losing anyways. I was so close to lifting and still pulling it off too, what a great race though. Me and the winner battled it out cleanly the entire 5 laps and I ended up with a 3 star 2nd place finish with the FL as well because I was in his draft all race lol. But that finish was just like, man, so effin close!! I’ll get’em next time. :)

Well, yesterday wasn't half as successful as Monday night. I struggled horribly with the Audi R8 in Race B and wasn't able to score a podium; my best was 4th and the other race I did resulted in a DNF. The car has excellent cornering but you have to be more careful with your inputs. It's not like the AMG GT where you can simply chuck the car into corners and not have it spin on you. Once I understand the quirks of the car I'll be able to get a better result for sure. It can be quite strange, because if you exit a corner incorrectly, you have a large amount of understeer.
