It should be an optional aid, just like the racing line. Clear lines where the limits are. Maybe PD is too embarassed to show the messed up track limit edges lol. On to TS050, I'm 2 sec per lap slower in the R18 with fuel saving, no use.

That or maybe they figure if people know the exact limits they will exploit them even worse than they do now? I’ve considered trying to make my own just for reference, maybe I’ll revisit the idea. I need to figure out a way to print of maps of each track so I can just mark in the limits around each corner. I don’t want to have to hand draw out each track as well lol. :)

No need to do that for Willow Springs. One of the great things about that place is that there is no explanation necessary. Since there is no pavement beyond the track, everybody is pretty clear on what will happen to them if they don't keep all four wheels on the track. It's so simple.
Brands Hatch is mostly like that, too.

It depends on the car and streets of Willow springs comes to mind :lol:
The track should be lined with 40ft deep alligator pits.

So, i trimmed my time down to a 56.9xx before my last race of the morning. Now i am gonna be late for work (not really, flexible start time) cuse i wanted to run a handful of laps to try and improve on that time since i seemed to have figuered something out. I kept shaving time every few laps and kept telling myself, k, this is the last one. Then i noticed i had run 30+ laps and it had been nearly 40 minutes :lol:

At least it was worth it. Time is down to a 56.540 with an optimal time of 55.963.

I was in the same boat last night when I got down to 56.3. Over 30 laps without realizing. Then in the time waiting for the race I saw you in, I dropped that to 56.02. I didn't get to see the optimal time, though. It's funny, but most of my time has come from slowing down going in, to keep the car planted on turn in. I keep 2 tires on the road everywhere except turn 1, where I go wide like everyone else.:rolleyes:

55's tonight. With the speed I found, I can even totally blow a corner in practice (re:hit the sand) and still manage 57's usually. Running from the back last week is still paying off!
 
Without fuel saving I had no trouble getting back to A/S on Sarthe GR.1. Now it looks like I can't get to 23K. The competition has been strong though and the rooms small (12 on average). Only a couple people pit, TS050 has been winning the last few races. I'm staying clean and gaining positions, just no DR.
 
I noticed that on K.P.'s list of weekly active players in sport mode, the most recent week listed was a record breaker! Lowest ever recorded. The Christmas boost was short-lived.
 
I had a total man-baby moment last week. And stopped playing. Part frustration of my own limitations. Part frustration with things out of my control, like matchmaking, ghosting, etc.. But mostly because i just thought about it and noticed i wasn't enjoying it.

I'm sure I'll get back to it sometime. But I needed a break.

We are only a few weeks away from 6 months straight of the ready-screen-disconnect glitch. Sure, we here on GTP have found the work around. But we are a fraction of a percentage of the player base. You got to assume a huge amount of the player base just stopped playing Sport Mode. I mean 6 months. Just think about how many players we lost. Inexcusable.

Sarthe is a fun track, it's just a shame GR.1 is an unbalanced mess and no tire choice plus fuel saving takes the fun out of the competition. Last week was worse. I've never before resorted to race A all week.
 
On the Americas region top 10 times for race A every single replay now shows cars going way, way wide through the last 2 corners. Apparently if you stay on the grass long enough you do not get penalized. PD really needs to do something about track limits, it has become a joke to say the least. Unless you are willing to cheat or "game" the game there is no use even putting in a time for race A anymore. Im not sure what happens if you take that line while racing but now you will have a bunch of cheaters blocking the track during races in front of those of us who stick to track limits. With that incredible rear traction of the TVR race A just became an SR killer I think.

Well if you go around the track limits, you are not technically going outside track limits :lol:

I think PD needs to simplify track limit penalties. Currently the penalty depends on some voodoo magic calculation whether the game thinks you gained any time or not. This does not help to make things clear at all and even creates dangerous situations where people try to avoid penalties by veering back onto the track at odd angles.

Spike strips right outside the kerbs will do the trick 💡

My tip is to make the pedal platform horizontal. That way there cannot be any flex from the pedal platform flexing, because when you push the brake pedal hard, being horizontal, all the force on the pedal will be on the platforms bolts closest to you, and they won't be on the pedal platform. If the pedal platform is angled up, it will flex and damage your braking accuracy. The 3 seems a great unit. Good luck.

Flex from the pedal plate was something I did think about. Luckily, I have a lot of spare wood lying around. So, I'll be tilting it, and sticking a block of wood below, to stop any flex.

If it were up to you, how would you balance Gr.1?

I want to agree - splitting Gr.1 into LMPs (potentially with LMP2s and DPis if added), VGTs, & Group C racers, with the new hypercar class also being its own group if added - but I had a slightly different idea. The daily races could have more specific limitations on cars, more akin to various GT League events. So instead of splitting Gr.1 into different classes, you could potentially have “semi-classes” that aren’t actual classes but are specific rulesets for an event using that class.

Alternatively, however, splitting up Gr.1 could make balancing a bit easier for PD, too. I’d make the Group C cars their own class, but I’d still include some VGTs in the same group as the modern LMPs, namely the ones that have the most resemblance to LMPs. So this means the Mazda & Hyundai VGTs would be with the LMPs, whereas cars like the Bugatti, Alpine, Audi, & McLaren VGTs could be in a new class, potentially with the new hypercar class that’s slated to replace LMP1.

A few weeks ago at Fuji GR4 I was in P2 trying to keep up with P1 who was putting up better laps. I noticed P1 went way wide in the final turn every lap, all the way up that paved hill and back onto the main straight where the paved run off ends. First time thought it was a mistake, but after 4 laps of exact same line realized it was intentional. So I tried that line in qualifying laps... yep nearly a second faster right away. I assume all the top qualifiers this week are running the same “cheater” line but haven’t checked.

I guess it’s true, in racing, if you ain’t cheating you ain’t tryin, so that’s the line I run in qualifying. But I sort of feel bad about it, a little anyway

@Sven Jurgens; I planted my Lexus into the guard rail that separates the pit lane and the home straight on Nurb GP last week, bringing my car to an absolute and abrupt halt all of which earned me a 5 second penalty. I wonder what algorithm calculated that I’d managed to gain 5 seconds in that maneuver?:confused:

That's a wall penalty, they are always 5 seconds, unless you gain time by gently scraping the wall :lol:

It needs to be split as Sarthe Group C vs Hybrids just looks like this until the Porsche curves.

Do you mean that last right hander before the main straight? How do you gain time by going so wide, because you can arc the corner and maintain a higher average speed even though its a much longer path??

Yes, Basically you just carry too much speed into the Apex and hammer down coming out, running way wide and up into the paved area to the left of the corner exit, then back down the hill onto the main straight. I remember people doing that last time we had Gr4 at Fuji.
 
It's getting dirtier by the minute on Sarthe. So far I've been able to avoid penalties or any SR loss. However the 6:30 pm race is next, the one that's usually the worst of the day. Not the time to switch cars, red alert, shields up. Last race I already got banged around, blocked and pushed off the track. It's destruction derby hour! About 30% won't make the finish (rage quit I guess), another 40% will get timed out. I made it to 5th last race, it's either score big or get punted into the next timezone.

@Sven Jurgens maybe it's time they consider allowing contact to cause damage that slows you down, or forces you to pit for repairs. I thought I remember hearing that they've done something like that for the FIA races. Any word on if it's working?
