Race A should be fun this week. It will basically just be me tensing up and yelling, "Don't touch me! Don't freaking touch me!" at my monitor every time I dive two wide into a turn.

just watched this race and it's put me right off even bothering QF for Tokyo this week. These guys are all trying to stay clean but it's just a :censored:fest of penalties.
I'm out

See, I watched that race and I didn't see anyone trying to be clean. Certainly not the driver of the in-car. If a car gets totally sideways in front of you and you stay full throttle and hit him twice, you're not trying to be clean. I may have to run Tokyo from the back this week and work on my racecraft. Should be a challenge, but will be fun, and rewarding if I can pull it off. I just need to remain calm and cool. I'd love to drive the Alfa... I enjoy it, but may end up in the Lambo for the passing power. Maybe the Aston. Lots of grunt there. Hell, I might try a bunch and see which one works. After last week, I couldn't care less about SR or DR. I'm at SR-B right now, down from the 99 I had before 1 B race and 2 C races last night.

Was in a couple of races this morning with you always on pole. During the race I was nowhere near you, even when finishing 3rd, and doing a lap 0.001 within your fast lap time!

Race A is fun, until the idiots show up.

My SR dropped the other day so I figured if I set a quick lap to get on pole and flew away on a couple of races I could bring it back to 99/99. The Brazillian chasing me passed me on the last lap in the second race though so I wasnt able to snag a 2nd win.

I’m slowly chipping away at Tokyo. :)

I just joined Snail racing a couple weeks ago, it’s a good bunch of guys and some great racing. They race Sunday nights but do practice runs throughout the week, it’s pretty fun for anyone who wants a change from dailies. :)

Do you have to do actual races to be able to join and do practice sessions?

I just raced C. My tactics after a few offline-tests was Hard until the end of lap 8, then switch to medium for the rest of the race — a good idea as it turned out. I didn‘t set a Q-Lap so I started from 17th. The field was mixed of D and C drivers (though I think that the leading drivers were higher rated in a secondary account).

For the first laps I concentrated on just going with the field and rather give away my position instead of fighting. Soon other hot blooded guys took themselves out and along with a few pitstops in the back of the field I was at position 13 on lap 3. Then some dutchman punted me out at the hairpin leading into the chicane. I could‘ve probably save it but since I already had seen this guy racing very agressively I decided to let him bleed and let my car generously leave the track - 3s penalty for him. I managed to catch up with the group he was in and just followed (by that time he had 9s penalty from other incidents) until he pitted at lap 7.

Having a free track I pushed and pitted at the end of lap 8 as planned. I got near other fighting cars but stayed out of trouble, passed when they kicked each other off the track. I had better tires and was able to continue.

In the end I finished 11th. Minor DR decrease but plus 4 SR.

I wont‘t do A and B this week. A is not what I understand as Racing and B has quick cars on a dangerously narrow track which is suicidal if you cannot be sure if other drivers will race clean and mature.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I enjoyed racing on Expressway in previous events with the low-powered cars (the Beetle was a ton of fun a few months ago, especially) but GR4 is sadly carnage. I was punted from 2nd to last place on the turn exiting the tunnel with a 2 second penalty to boot so I don't think I need another experience in the bloodbath. It feels kind of bad after I set a QT in the 1:18s on it and it being one of the few tracks I'm pretty competent on. Already down from SR S > A so I doubt I'll be touching it again this week.

If you want to race on Sunday nights then you must sign up properly. Thursday nights is the official practice night in that it's a full run-through of a Sunday night. You can join on Thursday. There are lobbies open throughout the week at random times. The best way to track that is to follow the SNAIL Main Thread. People will usually post the Room ID. If they don't, you can find a link to the current week's line-up in the first post first page. Search in game for the tracks that they are racing that week and you can also find the practice room that way.

There is plenty of racing on here so check out the Online Racing Leagues section. I have links in my sig for the current International Racing Series seasons. We currently are racing on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday nights but usually also have a Tuesday series. Everything I mentioned so far starts at 9pm EST. There's also the newly formed ARL which runs Tuesday and Saturdays late night, 11pm EST. YNOT Racing has a Monday and Wednesday night thing as well and they change it up every few weeks. Hope to see you around :)

I believe you have to be a member to join the practice sessions, but joining is not hard at all. They have full and part time racers so maybe you could get in on part time and only do the races when you’re able to. I’m not fully sure how it all works yet as I’m still new, it never hurts to ask though. :)

Do they let you do 500 qualifying laps?

Bad day, schools closed again, kids home bouncing off the walls. The race selection plain sucks and my plans to go play FH4 have failed. Currently quick assist is reinstalling windows on my new laptop due to corrupted drivers after half a day of use. I did get to see FH4 run briefly, yet it wasn't polling the controller properly just intermittent brake lights flickering and twitchy steering input without actually accelerating, before windows stopped recognizing my controller completely.

At least GTS works! I'm in half a mind to return the thing and get a non gaming laptop instead, much cheaper. PC gaming is a mess.

Just did a couple of Race A's on my European account. 1st race, didn't qualify, started 11th and finished 5th. Not a bad race, and fairly clean until I lagged into some I was overtaking (well, undertaking actually), and that got me a 2 second penalty as they hit the wall, though they were very squirrely before I hit them.

Decided to qualify and got a 33.327 (or something like that, it's deffo a low 33.xxx).

Started pole on race 2, and for the first 7 or 8 laps it was just me and 2nd place (Horizontal Red, Gold, Red flag) on our own, around 5 seconds ahead of the field and constantly pulling away, with 2nd place hovering between 1/2 & 3/4 second behind me.

That was until they got ambitious on corner 2 giving me a helping hand into and around that fast bend. Then it was a further assist to try and get me into the pits on the same lap. I didn't realise I needed fuel and/or tyres?

What is it with 'having' to get the win by any means necessary?

Anyway, caught them back, did a clean passing move until they tried to nudge me in to the wall, which they bounced of me and I got the 2 second penalty.....grrrrrrr. They just couldn't keep it clean once they had the sniff of victory.

Anway, they tried the nudge thing again, yet I gamed the system, nudged the wall and got them the penalty.

Finished the race 2nd, as going for the win was just not that important after the dirty tactics of the winner.

Ended with a Blue S though, and a gain of nearly 1000 dr points over 2 races.

Turn 1 at BB Raceway is what sets the men from the boys i think. Turn 3 is weird but has no banking so you can treat it like a regular road course
corner. Turn 1 has to be hit at the right speed and trajectory and hope it just skims the wall.

Of course racing with others is a different ball game on it.

@Pigems , @Oshawa-Joe I finally ordered one of these things, this morning. After considering the limited space I have to work with, I decided a collapsible one was the only way to go. They said I'll have it within a week. I think CSA will have to be the first thing to get rid of. I still may use Sven's idea about taking a pair of wire cutters to the force feedback system. I'll finally find out what this wheel and pedal thing is all about. 👍

It's a good, comfortable seat. Got mine set up with a G29. Had it just over a year now and sadly have hardly used it; think it's been used about a dozen times!

With the limited space I also have, it's just to damn easy to grab the controller and play. Whereas the playseat and wheel takes a whole minute to set up

People still don't realise that you have to brake for Turn 1. It's not a full on, balls out banked turn.

If there is no one near, I'm braking at the 100 metre board, and cutting across the bottom of the corner. If there's a car near, it's still brake at or around the 100 but go around the outside, or cut under if I feel I'm gonna get slammed.

Negative - anyone is welcome to join practice 👍

Awesome! Thanks, I did not know that. :)

Dude that wicked, Congrats! Don’t cut the FFB, that’s how you know what the car is doing, you definitely want that. You’re gonna love it. :)

Did another C, same tactics. This time started 19th and finished 13th. Major gain in SR (+19 to 99, Silver Star) but again loss in DR. Well, now that a reasonable good SR buffer is there, I can probably share some soft but enlightening bumps to other drivers acting as rolling walls on the track ;)

That's what I have, too (G29). Is anything adjustable, like recline, or reach distance?

It's adjustable to a degree. As you recline the chair more, obviously the reach extends, and as you bring the seat more upright, you end up steering like NASCAR or a rally driver.

I'm 5,10 and it's a very comfortable chair for my height/reach.

The seat adjustment is done by straps and velcro, and it's kinda like adjusting a deck chair with an accordion effect.

The pedal rest is also adjustable.

The one down side to the chair is you can't actually sit in it and adjust on the fly; if you do you'll end up on your arse. You have to sit in...get a feel for it.....get out and adjust the straps and so on until it all suits what you want.

That's great, thanks for clearing that up! I've seen your lobbies from time to time and I know they are full of good, clean racers, but was hesitant to try and join. I have a few friends in your league so I'd love to join in for some casual races some time.

I got off of the TV tray and into the Challenge a while ago with my G29. I'm pretty lean if you don't count my belly, and about 6'1" with a 34" inseam and long arms. The plate that the wheel bolts and clamps to adjusts a couple of inches forward and back. I have it out as far as it goes. The seat is adjustable but the only way to get further from the wheel puts you in a more reclined position. Too far and the bar/wheel may get too low and hit your knees. I made a wedge that I bolted the pedals to, to get the right angle. I need it because I'm in more of a F1 position than a touring car position. You can see pics on the "show your setup"thread.
Now that I have it set up, I love it. It only moves if I have company.

Edit. Just went to Kudosprime to check my laptimes last time we did GR2 at Fuji. The link to my page shows up when I do a search (Rexracer702), but when I click the link, it cant find the page. This ever happen to anyone?

Talking of Douchbaggery corner, coming up to it yesterday and I could see someone steaming up behind me on the last lap, so I took the corner wide and left him room on the inside. We both got round the corner without touching and we were side by side to reach the finish line. Unfortunately the other guy decided to nudge me off the track before the last kink before the finish line. I managed to keep going and he beat me to the finish line. However he got a 5 second penalty and dropped 4 places. Hopefully he might think better of it next time.

Anyway, good week on Dragon Trail, managed to finally get back to Dr A+ after having an sr drop. I seem to be a little more chilled out about the racing so I hope to keep my A+ a little longer this time :D:D
That just made a win even better with his smooth move. Lol. Wish I knew who it was and could send the Simpsons Buford gif with him pointing his finger at the guy and laughing.

I’ve got PlaySeat Challenge with G29. Reach of pedals is adjustable, as is seat recline and even back and leg support by tightening or loosening Velcro straps. Wheel tilt adjusts too.

First thing I did too was turn off CSM, the only assist other than ABS I used on DS4. Took a while to get used to brake pedal pressure. Don’t be afraid to stand on it. I set “torque” to max too in order to get proper sense of weight in the steering.

Just be patient. Most players will be totally crap with the wheel at first. Then follows a huge learning curve. Eventually most also find themselves quicker. Even if not it’s certainly more immersive.

Enjoy man!

@Rexracer702 Thanks a mill! Of course, then I’d have to personalise each bus with a individual driver’s signature.

I could not get access to GT Community via website or apps for about 30 mins earlier. Thought it was just me but it may have been their side had issues.
