Progress made on 2nd entry.

I was able to get 1:34 lap times in the race so I dipped into Q-Time session afterwards to set my Qually and 3 laps in I hit 1:33.5XX / 1:33.4XX so Ieft to run another race with my Q time, see if I can get a better finish.

Been getting SR up and while I'm SR B a few attempts to knock me have resulted in buddy ghosting through me.

Not sure why since I was SR B but glad it didnt mess me up lol

I tried race b. I got almost one day penalty!

Ok I admit, I did not push my qualification time. Just after 10-15 laps I jumped on race. So, couple of times I hit the walls exactly. 5 each. Of course while I was carefully trailing the guy in front of me he hit the wall, I could not escape 4 seconds. I got hit by other guys as well but I cannot blame anyone.

After the race, only the guy led us entire race won it without penalty.

So imo, it is like a different type of drag race. You wanna win? Then good qualification.

Edit: So, I am announcing this week as XP Grinding week! :D

Short shifting? What FM did you use?
No fuel saving needed. But if you qualify mid pack or higher, I don’t think no stopping is a good strategy. It you do it from the back though, it can work out. Front left tire was basically gone with 1-2 laps to go, but it was pretty ok to drive anyway.

See, I watched that race and I didn't see anyone trying to be clean. Certainly not the driver of the in-car. If a car gets totally sideways in front of you and you stay full throttle and hit him twice, you're not trying to be clean. I may have to run Tokyo from the back this week and work on my racecraft. Should be a challenge, but will be fun, and rewarding if I can pull it off. I just need to remain calm and cool. I'd love to drive the Alfa... I enjoy it, but may end up in the Lambo for the passing power. Maybe the Aston. Lots of grunt there. Hell, I might try a bunch and see which one works. After last week, I couldn't care less about SR or DR. I'm at SR-B right now, down from the 99 I had before 1 B race and 2 C races last night.
haha, yes you're right about the t-bone at the end. It was like he'd thought sod it, there's noting to gain and nothing to lose anymore

did some QF laps last night on Fuji and previously i've quite liked this combo with the Gr2 cars - but this time it took me ages to get to grips with QF on medium tyres and adjusting to brake later and turn later - combine that with turning TC off (which i've only ever done on Gr4 & Gr3 so far) it was a real learning curve. Eventually after about 20 laps or so i was hitting consistent 1:32's and eventually got a 1:31.9 and still feel like there's more to shave off it.
I'll have a bash at an actual race tonight and see what happens.
What's the best brake balance to use? I tried -5 and 0 and to be honest didn't see too much difference.

I did 3 laps of Tokyo before realizing that my SR is never going to cope, so that's no race B for this week.

Havent raced Group 2 yet, so I thought I would try Race A for a change and I am actually really enjoying it, after 2 laps around the circuit I thought I was just going to bin it off but I stuck with it, I am quite slow though, my best lap is a 33.7 which was bizarrely set with no ABS when I was just messing around, will have a proper crack at it tonight. @Pigems what settings did you set your 32.7 on?? I refuse to wall rub. Mine was MT, TCS 2, CSA Weak, ASM and ABS off.

Had a great race though, started on pole guy behind me Dan Dares me at the beginning of lap 2 and puts me in the wall giving ME a 5 second penalty whilst getting away with on 2 seconds himself  . Followed him for 2 laps with him swerving and barely holding it together and re-passed him (cleanly) at T1, looking at the timing board he's clearly dropped it somewhere after I passed him as he's now P5, so now I have to get a 5 second gap to the new P2 as there is no way I can scrub that penalty 8 laps to do it. I was 5.1 seconds up at the flag  win the race by a tenth steering wheel covered in sweat :D.

Race C at Fuji. Qualified 4/18 and decided to go for a no stopper in the Honda NSX. Got on the accelerator pedal to early lap 3 turn 1 and spun out. Back to 8th. Managed to hold 8 until the last lap where a fellow Aussie on mediums couldn't stand to wait to get past me in sector 2.. Dive bombs me and outbrakes himself them decides to ram me and full speed at the hairpin... ruins his own race and mine..... I'm a A - S racer and the past few nights been finding these lobbies are so dam dirty... I used to have cleaner races C and B - S lobbies. I lost 1000DR ....

This is one of my favourite albums/stand up routines of all time, “I thought I was gonna be the starting center field for the Boston Red Sox, Life sucks, get a ****ing helmet alright!”

I used MT, BB 0, ABS Default, No TCS, No CSA, No ASM, and no wall rubbing(not aimed at you). I tried BB at +3 to -3 but didn’t find it made much difference on this combo. The first corner is everything, brake slightly before the 100 board and stay in 4th almost until the Apex, if you shift down too early it breaks the back tires loose and you can’t accelerate out as well, ease back on coming out as well to keep from losing traction there. It’s a tricky corner but if you nail it it sets the entire lap. :)

I felt better with the BB at Front 3, but since you only brake once per lap on BB Raceway...

Apparently we have to specify NWR now in the driver aids part.

This is true, BB is gonna be a personal thing on this track, go with whatever helps the car feel the most stable turning into that one corner. :)

Sadly haha. You can also include No Off Track for Red Bull Ring, but we can complain about that when it comes back to rotation.

Yep! Or you can be like me and upset the balance of the Z8 on turn 3. Finally nailed it last night, but the process drove me insane.

Has anyone tried GR.2 cars on Fuji other than the Nissan Autech and Lexus RC F? I was wanting to try something different (Xanavi, maybe) since I always end up running the Autech. Or is it not worth it considering the extra tire wear (no idea how the others handle tires) and would I be handicapping myself too much over the others?

It’s maddening at times, you come out of that corner at with a tenth or tenth and half on your time only to slip/spin a hair coming up the hill and the ghost shoots past you on exit, I wanted to ram my ghost off the road at times. At one point I had loaded ghost, plus my ghost from that session going at once, both were within a couple one thousandths of each other so it looked like it was one car splitting apart and melting back together all Lap, I thought I had smoked one to many at first until I realized what was going on, I should have uploaded the video, it was trippy.

The Nissan Autech typically rules Gr2.

I think I'm okay on T1...improvement possible but I get through okay. The right kink is killing me. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like you're flat out everywhere except T1. It seems that if I get through the right with speed (usually I get sideways) then I get sideways going left onto the banking. I have overcorrected and hit the wall more than once there. I did a 33.7, but that was more a lap I survived than a fast lap.

I would recommend sticking to the 3 newer models. The older GT500 cars just can't compete i'm aftaid...
The Nissan is probably the safest bet but me and a couple of others got up there with the NSX and there's at least 1 Lexus up rhere too. There's a good variety on the leaderboard so use whatever feels more comfortable for you 👍 as long as it's a recent model lol...

Your are correct, I don’t lift after T1. That right hander, and getting into the banking on the final left hander took me a while to figure out how to do it without kicking the back end out. It takes very small steering inputs, constantly, always correcting one direction or the other. If you can stay to the left as much as possible coming out of t2 it really helps to get around that right hander. What I found helped the most was steer a little, then back to center(or a correction), then steer a little, then Center/correct and repeat. I watched Lester’s lap like 15 times for that part, he’s got smooth and small inputs and constantly going back and forth with his steering, never trying to bite off to much in one single input, it’s like you have to let the car settle after every little input and before the next one. Hopefully this is helpful in some way.

Same goes for getting into the banking on the final turn without sliding, small gradual inputs of steering until you get the whole car going in the right direction. :)

Is it time to nerf the alfa romeo gr4?

Nope! Daily B Dragon Trial Seaside last week was a Lambo track, as was Fuji the week before. If not the Lambo it's TT or Meganes on the front. Different cars suit different tracks. It would be ideal if a selection of cars could all be in contention, which does happen in DR/D & C more often where there are larger gaps between driver abilities but as you climb the DR ranks and Q times are getting closer with only milliseconds separating then they are all finding the same car pushed to the same limit gives the same time. Alfa suited Koyoto for example when we ran Daily B before Christmas but it's at least that long since it was dominant.

What I would say AGAIN is the FF cars need to be nerfed. Even on Daily C their tyre wear is not bad enough to equate with that much power and weight all going to the front but without tyre wear they are ridiculous. TT, Megane and Scirocco can all hold their own on any track even if they are not the Meta on the day. It's also silly to think that they put power down better than FR cars and actually disappointing that there is a host of FR Gr4 cars that are virtually never used because they are even useless on tracks that in real life would suit them down to the ground.

There are 10 FR Gr4 cars. When is the last time any of these was the meta on any race?

Corvette, Viper, Mustang, 86, RC-F, genesis, Vantage, F-Type, M4, SLS.

Fastest guy in Asia has a 32.571 for Race A and uses countersteer assist, also pushes against the wall to scrub off speed into Turn 1.

Thats pretty filthy
How does he manage to use the wall without getting a penalty? I tried the QF and couldn't look at the wall without getting 5 seconds (every time)!

That thing is like the best handling FR Gr.4 car, as it can actually hold on against 4Cs given enough skill...

Oh wait, I think DTS II Gr.4 is the last time that the car was a META choice...

The 4C was the Meta at Suzuka not long ago too wasn’t it? Or was that not the Gr4 version?

If you're talking about the Gr.4 race...yes, probably. Haven't raced there in that category since the Daily Updates era of Daily Races when the Mégane Trophy was the META.

Back to the "cars for tracks" point. Sweeping tracks can suit the Gr4 4C while other tracks don't. You will find that some courses suit the TT, others the Lambo, others the 4C so they are all Meta on their day and that's just natural. If it was always the same car for every single track then there would certainly be a problem. I have absolutely no problem with an individual car happening to be better on a given day on a given track. The Lambo Gr4 is perhaps the META more often than others but once you nerf it there will be another. It was the Megane Trophy mid last year as @RZQSPEED just pointed out, then the TT. The problem I have is that none of the 10 FR cars tend to be meta on any track on any day and relative to real world racing that is just silly.

I found a better way around T1, brake way early, well before the 100 marker, it allows you to get on the gas early while still in the downslope before the apex which keeps the tires from braking free and you can get way more speed coming out of the corner. I just shaved another tenth on only a couple runs of trying it this way. There is definitely more there still, I lost a tenth in the final corner. :)

Thanks, I'll try out the NSX. I somehow forgot about it.
