You’re right about the Logitech, I didn’t have a G29 but I did have a DFGT which is very similar with a geared drive, it did have a dead spot for sure. I didn’t find it too much of an issue but the feel of the FFB is Night and Day between the DFGT and T300, the T300 is so smooth while on the DFGT you felt every tooth engage as you turned the wheel. :)
Do you feel you have the same deadzone feel in the center with the t300 ? I know there are tons of reviews on YT but i'd like to hear from a user, rather than someone who's trying it for the first time.

"Whoever designed that pit entry must be taken to a dark room and be beaten!" Said myself at the end of my first Race C at Autopolis. Got pole but that DAMN PIT ENTRY gifted my biggest rival from Macau his victory after holding him up for a decent amount of time... I'm using an NSX in that race while he was using a GT-R.

I don’t feel I have any dead zone now, weather or not that means there isn’t one though could probably be argued, it could just be that it’s so small that it’s unnoticeable. I didn’t use my wheel out of the box though, I updated its software to the latest version before using it based on advice from another GTP member who had one, so it’s possible some of the older versions of it’s software did have a dead zone that I never got to experience because I’ve only had it for a couple months and have only used it with the current version of T300 software. :)

I'm 2 seconds slower at Fuji with my wheel and pedals than with my controller. It's mostly because of the steering. It's just sloppy and all over the place. I can be way more precise with the controller. Getting close to giving up on the wheel.

From my experience, thus far, I believe that switching to a wheel absolutely will not make you faster, unless maybe you're someone who's not good with a controller. I get that it can add some realism to the game, but I couldn't care less about that. I wanna go fast!
It took me a while to get used to my wheel + pedal setup. I was about 2-4 seconds slower when I started off vs. DS4, and now I'm about 1-2 seconds faster on the wheels + pedal. I've had my setup since last October, so it took me a few months to get used to it, along with some fine tuning on the wheel settings in-game.

As for doing the A race, I try to gradually turn to prevent the Supra from turning into the Drift King. In my opinion, trying to get used to the wheel settings with the new Supra is harder than with a car that is more forgiving.

But don't give up on the wheel! Keep going at it. :) You got this.

@sturk0167 Try steering the Supra the same way you had to steer the Z8 around T3 at BB Raceway a couple weeks ago, no big and sudden movements of the wheel, just short, smooth corrections, always remember the 100% rule for tires. One thing I read in the book that I found helpful in this case as well is to “squeeze” the throttle, don’t push it, don’t stomp it, Squeeze it like it’s a trigger. Also you can try staying on the throttle a little while trail braking and cornering too, not a lot, maybe 5-10%(this is where left foot braking really shines, you just can’t do this with one foot), it keeps the back end in check a little better and you can get on it faster when exiting the corner. :)

Is there a car/track combo that you guys would recommend for practicing with the wheel?

I was planning to do some laps at race B/Suzuka tomorrow in the WRX, because throttle input doesn't really matter with that car, so it'll be mostly steering practice.

I would recommend going back and doing driving school, missions and track experience again. Breaking down all the new driver inputs into small parts should help. It really does take time to develop new skills or like they say, everything is difficult before it becomes easy.

I agree, I love knowing where I stand in the grand scheme of things. I totally get what you mean though, it’s happened to me lots of times, not often is my best race lap as good as my best Q lap. :)

Plus, Q laps are one of the few times in GT that you can’t get punted or run off the track, you get to find new ways fly off the track all by yourself.
I figure race pace is normaly a second off of Q. Racing is about patients and strategy, while Q is balls to the wall, where you know you may have an off, but are trying for every .001. When I race at my best, I'm not on the ragged edge.

@sturk0167 I’d have to agree with @Oshawa-Joe , ReDo all the mission and driving school stuff, that’s what I did when I set up my rig back in November, heck, I’ve done them all again since then. Other than that pick you favourite combos to make the learning process more enjoyable for yourself, it’s suposed to be fun after all. Or better yet, come run some snail practice races with us on Thursdays. :)

@Rexracer702 Same here for the most part, depending on the track/car of course. The easier the combo, the easier it is to be closer to your Q time. :)

Also, something really strange just happened, really strange. I just bought a WRX GrB car for snail racing, I downloaded a livery for it, actually a few, picked the one I wanted to use quickly without looking much because I just wanted to get out there and then I see this as I’m about to exit my garage. HTF did I randomly Download a livery with my name on it? More importantly, who made one with my name on it?My name isn’t on any of my other cars, I’ve never put it there and never seen it there before, this is really odd, but I guess I can’t not use it now, it’s got my friggen name on it.

The livery editor gives you an option to use driver names (as on real race cars) and if the creator used that option then anyone who uses that livery will see their own name on the car. 👍

I noticed when I go to the Discover section and look at liveries, when I get the close-up turntable view of the cars, every one of them have my driver's name on them. At first, I was like wtf? It's weird. Check it out.

you end up being the black sheep when daring to use a porsche.

I'm used to this myself and I've never minded it. I prefer to use a car I enjoy over the meta choice unless I happen to like whatever is meta. I can sometimes be faster in cars which aren't meta which is a plus. It's all about using the car that's right for you and your driving style, I feel. A lot of people become tunnel-visioned into using the top alien car choices even if they aren't particularly great at using them.

Does anyone remember doing Gr.4 at Suzuka the last time it came up? My qualifying time then was 2:10.8 in the Huracan. I'm at 10.6 just now after only 10 or so laps (and entering a race qualified 14th behind a sea of Audis) but I really don't feel comfortable or confident with it. I know there's been a physics/tyre update since the last time but I just can't get into a flow of any kind.

I believe it was June of last year. That’s was the last time I set a time for that combo. I beat my record by 5 seconds now.

Try the cayman. At first I was doing huracan but I put in a better time with the cayman for some reason lol

Suzuka has been very kind to me. I jumped into the trials to get a feel for the circuit, man I hated T1 with a passion.
But, strangely enough, I have 4 wins already. The first three you could argue they were sketchy (DR C. SR B)
Tonight I managed to win a race filled with DR.B SR.A and got myself promoted to SR.A so yeah, I earned that.
I think Audis might be a little too good in this game. Granted, I haven't tried that many cars but both on Gr.3 and Gr.4 Audis feel great to drive.

Doe LMP cars show up in daily races at all? I love driving those.

Great and very true.
How many of us are extracting the cars in game potential. I’ve seen folks in top lobbies using the cars I prefer 2 seconds better on q time than me. I am generally 2-3 seconds off top ten or so.
I basically run the same gr3 exclusively, and rotate the gr4 between a couple cars.
For me it’s quite clear under bop driver is more important than car. Cars that are great in qual are often poor in race depending. How the cars are used is key imo.
This was a great comment and I agree, my friend. I am always faster and more consistent non meta. Meta to me is a fugazi.

There are things known and things unknown, and in between are the doors :sly:. For good mental health some thing are best left as one of life's mysteries :dopey:.

Q laps are the best time to do jumps.

NO WAY!!!! Race time is the best time for jumps. If you can land on the roof of one of the other cars, so much the better ;).

@05XR8 has in the past made it a point to prove that there is no such thing as META .

I thoroughly agree. More to the point it's how *other* cars are used. As braking points.... berms....guard rails.......

When your optimal lap in Race A is over a second quicker than your fastest lap :mad::mad:!

Still at least I am in top 1,000 for the region , getting a lap hooked up would get me into the top 500 and at the front of the grid away from the SR destroyers I am suddenly finding myself with!

Gr.4 FF cars are generally really competitive in Suzuka, the other day I saw Megane Gr.4 easily pulling away from my Huracan out of Suzuka's esses :nervous:
quite satisfied with Race B combo so far, 3 wins 3 poles out of 4 races with 3 different cars :D

A couple of Suzuka races. I was put in last place on the grid, with the next slowest 6/10ths faster than me. :irked: Made up 3 or 4 places due to others crashing. Later on I changed my car and improved my qualy time by 8/10ths, but still starting in the last 3 or 4 most races. I think my recent DR gains are now catching me out.

In regards to racing with a wheel or DS4, getting a wheel was an absolute game changer and makes me much faster. I hadn't been that bothered about getting one and was a happy on the pad until I got a shot of someones and all if a sudden the pad became insignificant. Although I started out with a G29 late last year and had it for a month before selling it as that dead zone was an nightmare and made it hard for me to get into any rhythm. I didn't have much money so bought a Thrustmaster T150 at the middle of January and that, for me, is streets ahead of the g29 although the quality may not be the same. It's also much quieter. My friend uses the G29 and when we race in lobbies it sometimes sounds like he's digging up tarmac with a jack hammer when suffering under steer. It takes a while to get used to a wheel but I feel like i'm getting better every time I go on and learn something new.

Not had much time to do racing this week but done a few at Suzuka and it's been quite good. Qualy lap was around 2.09.4 and i'm now very close to upgrading my DR to A. I've noticed, ever since the last race at Mt.Panorama, my opponents are all A or A+ ratings so it's all getting much harder, but cleaner, for me.

I didn't see his point so I can't comment about it but I guess I use the word "meta" as a looser term. I use it as whichever car I see most on the field like the GR4 Huracan (I usually saw others use it as a wall magnet at Bus Stop) at Dragon Trail which I incidentally was slower using over the GT-R.
