I don't like cones in a race, since they can be moved, and can create obsticals, but I have been using the blue apex markers. They only mark turn in and apex, but they're up high and don't move. Since I use bumper cam, they can help in a race when I'm close to someone and cant see the corner.

1:33.8 is NOT slow in GR3. I would bet that, below SR-S, you might get top 5 starts with that sometimes. I haven't been able to break into the 32's yet, so I'm going to change it up. The F1 had been my fastest car there so far, but a friend did a 32.8 in the Vette, so I'll try some other cars. The Mazda turns in nice, and has a top 10 time in my region. The Aston works well, and there are others. Sometimes driving another car, with different handling, can change the way you drive, then when you go back to what you were driving before, you go faster. I don't like cars that understeer. The F1 feels like it has more understeer than I like, but it is stable. Maybe if I drive something that has MORE understeer for a while, I'll get back in the F1 and drive it better. Or maybe I'll find another car that is faster for me...

Yeah. I thought 1:33.8 was slow as well. That’s where I also sit with the Mustang. I see Kie25 hit 31-32 with it. All the cars that be in the top 10 I can’t do well in lol.

I agree with the cones. I finally turn them off and I got better.

Ok there is something I don't understand.
yesterday I did only one race (race A). grid was mix of DR A and B, I'm in the low B. I was qualified 10th, number 12 on my car. I finished 9th, the 12th disconnected just before the race, the 11th before the end of the race.
I just looked at my DR curve and I see I lost DR. Does it mean that when someone disconnects they don't lose DR ? Or does it mean they lose it but don't give it ?

Since I had the number 12, I should have gained DR by finishing 9th, right ? Or do I not gain DR from people that quit because they are bad ? It would be unfair

Beating your door number has little correlation to whether you gain or lose DR.
Disconnecting after you enter the lobby still costs DR and you still gain DR from those disconnects.

Since you finished 9th, you only got DR from 3 players while giving DR to 8 other players.
To gain DR in such a situation the 8 players in front of you would have to have considerably higher DR to start with.
The basic sum is, you give 80*8 minus (DR difference / 500) and gain 80*3 plus (DR difference / 500)
There's a 400 point deficit the DR difference would have to make up for you to gain points. That's 200K DR, so on average the 11 other players need to be 18.2K DR higher than you. It's possible, just unlikely.

What you can do is tap the wall after they bump draft you. It doesn't always work and you lose time, but it will either give them a penalty or let them pass and then you can return the favor. GTS is not about racing, it's about managing SR.

I ran a 33.7 and yeah start top 5 in DRB and SRB races right now.

I could do a low 33 if I hooked it up right all in one lap but TBH that's as fast as I can go.

I used to LOVE the Aston around Interlagos, was such a beast on the straights. I ran a 33.6 on the previous grip model so SHOULD be faster but i couldn't get the Aston sub 34. The extra grip meant i did not have enough slip through the slow corners. Now i find the lexus a touch faster, before there was a touch too much slip and i'd bog down on exit.

Subtle changes but i feel them.

I mean... there is no specific rule on breaking the slipstream :p From the reading I've done, it seems that the only mention of weaving on straights in rulesets is when it comes to actually blocking the trailing car's path. So theoretically, if you're even on top speed or if you're pulling away despite them drafting, it's fine to break the slipstream like that. I'm not encouraging it of course, since it's indeed kind of unsportsmanlike (not nearly as much as blocking though, in my view), it doesn't look pretty and you're losing a bit of time yourself too. I would only do it as a very last resort and only once or twice per straight, again as long as I'm sure I'm not violating any rules. Also, it's possible that I'm extremely wrong here and that it does exist in rules, so if it does please correct me :lol:

The tracks happen to favor these particular cars this week. Technical tracks like Interlagos are generally dominated by the R8 in Gr.3. The previous Gr.3 race was Bathurst and there were quite a few viable cars there, such as the F1 GTR, AMG, Supra, Corvette, RC F etc. In Gr.4, FF cars typically do well on tracks with long straights, but Tokyo has these tricky esses where they understeer a lot. The Huracán is probably the best all-rounder.

Nah, don't race, not worth it. I'm giving it one more shot, yet I'm feeling like uninstalling GTS lol. I'm down to SR.B now (64). Every race I get rammed multiple times, once or twice I get a penalty for getting rammed. The best I could do was a neutral rating, 3rd place with fastest lap. I can pass most of the field clean, I went over the finish in second last race, however with 13 sec penalties from people ramming me along the way.... I'm reporting 80% of the room every race lol.

Fix the penalties!!! Fix the SR system!!! It's not racing anymore it's Tokyo wrecking zone. When a car hits the wall, ghost them immediately and don't give a penalty to the car behind who has no chance to avoid.

One more foolish attempt. Insanity, doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

I turned the ps4 off in lap 2, **** it, done with it.

Either they stop using this track or they fix this stupid penalty system. To me clean racing is my priority but in this track not being penalised is almost impossible.
If I'm racing to close to the car in front, it makes a mistake and I end up with a penalty. If I ease on the throttle to leave some distance then the car behind rams me and I end up with a penalty.
In the straigh if people decide to bump draft I end up with a penalty.
At this point they better off get rid of any penalty system at all if they don't even bother trying to fix it.
 
Interlagos continue to deliver for me in the Aston Martin. One pole and one podium are best results. The pole I botched as I fell asleep at the weel and went off track and ended up back in the field.🤬 Did not really get point loss for it anyway.
That car is just super stable and I just did a great time 1:32.693 (see video). So far I have a pole and a podium.
I don't see too many of the McLaren in the lobby's anymore. perhaps they are used for timing but they are tricky to drive in the actual race. :gtpflag:

At this point PD should just turn on heavy damage for the dailies. Or perhaps, touch wall = instant reset backwards. Half the field would be back at the start after T1 :lol:

That's the way ... and I was going to do my times in the Hurican, it felt fast, but I found the Alfa more fun around Suzuka. I start on the middle do a few laps. Then when I get consistent I'll try +2 and -2.

However I never got under 2:09 at Suzuka. My theoretical best lap was under 1:08 - but clearly I was not consistent in the Alfa. The trick for me at Suzuka is that first turn at the end of the straight - if you can maintain high speed there, you hold the speed through the first of the twisty bits and gain a huge amount of time. When you get to the longish right twisty in the S curves - number 6 - that leads to the left turn that escapes the snakey S curves- that's where the increased speed benefit goes IMO. If I got that first corner right I was sub 56.0 at the time clock at the corner 9 after Degner - leading up to the important very tight and very slow left hander hairpin 180 degree corner that leads to all the sustained fast stuff. Because I re-set when I botched the corner at the end of the straight - I was much less familiar with the rest of Suzuka - but its a track I know. So I would then muck up somewhere further along ... I was on a screamer lap and I had learn't that in the Alfa you don't have to lift the throttle to take 130R, it became a piece of cake ... but on my really quick one where I was over a second under my 2:091, I ran wide at 130R. After that I gave up ...

I've still not worked out a consistent way to take the first corner at the end of the straight quickly. I did learn though not to touch the brakes until one has the right wheels well over the right hand side curbing at the beginning of the first corner - and the way to get there without braking was to lift the throttle and turn quickly ... that corner is a pain but fascinating. I need someone to teach me how to handle it, I could never have raced that way I was never consistent there ....

Hey, @Sven Jurgens, check this out. I was going through Jason's GT Stats site, and had forgotten that if you log in, you can see about 100 times more statistics. I found the info to back up our theory from yesterday. Monday is the worst day of the week for SR at Tokyo East Outer Loop if you're driving a Gr.4 car. Average SR per entry is -3.564. That's specifically on Mondays, in the Gr.4 class.

Also, I found that historically, my biggest SR loss for a single race is -58. :lol: It was at la Sarthe last June in a Gr.4 car. I don't even remember doing a Gr.4 race at that track. But that was when the races only lasted for 24 hours, and there's also a good chance that I was drinking. :cheers:

I lost 31 SR points (from 99 to 68) in just one absolutely disgusting B/S race this morning.

The majority of the penalties I received were from being rammed into walls, side swiped, used as a braking tool and also a couple of racers taking my line into Turn 1, and then brake checking. It was as if they were following a line they couldn't deviate from, no matter what was in that space.
 
So the thing ive noticed about playing these online races is that if you race the same track in back to back fashion, you tend to get matched with the same folks. This can be good or bad. If good, I continue to race. If bad, I find something else to do. This is a habit i formed while playing pvp in SWTOR which has a similar matchmaking system.
 
Can someone take a look at my profile link and my Kudosprime stats so I can potentially get suggestions on how to get more wins/poles? It feels a bit frustrating trying to work towards those two trophies - do you think the post-launch amendments to the SR/DR formulas, matchmaking (either for regions or the SR/DR range(s) of your matched opponents), and daily race structures (i.e. daily to weekly) all have had an effect on how challenging it is to get these two trophies?

I have a philosophy that a trophy should designed to be an objective experience rather than subjective. For an example of the former, there’s the still-very-challenging “Beat Zico” and “Zone Zeus” trophies in WipEout HD, as well as that one GT5 trophy that has you beating the GT-R’s record on the Nurburgring. As for more “subjective” displays of skill in a ranked multiplayer game, I think it’s enough to display a player’s ranking for their nation/area/etc. as well as their total wins, poles, and so on.

In contrast, I believe obtaining a Platinum trophy in a game should be, in a way, a certification for the player, specifically signifying their literacy of the game’s mechanics, with some rewards for experimentation. This is in addition to the more basic trophies that are in many games to gauge progress, like the ones in GTS for getting all-golds for various sections. I can’t say I’m a fan of more gimmicky trophies like the ones in GT5 for having a certain combination of cars in a race, flipping your car over, or having consecutive lap times within a certain metric.

EDIT: I also have no idea why the level system returned in GTS, other than to give players something else to do between updates. Ideally, I’d hope it’s omitted from the next GT game, especially given that DR is a better indicator of skill in comparison. I could see mileage points and the MiEx also not returning for similar reasons, as I think both of these were put into GTS for purposes relating to both player retention and the fact that GTS began as a comparatively austere installment in the GT series. I would say somethjng similar regarding the return of random prize cars.

Race in the early mornings if you have a qualy time faster than other early morning racers (and I mean REALLY early mornings like 3 AM - 5 AM timeframe). Most aliens aren't waking up at that time, usually, so you should have an easier time to get the elusive 91 Wins trophy.

I tried the second account ... got to 30K in 6 days, but I had a good qualifying at the ring and won lots of races. And yes - clearly there are many multi- account players - all you need is another email address. I did it because of all the other multi-account drivers. GTS should be allowing a single internet address - but that would limit the game to one user per household/internet IP address I guess.

But I like to race clean and I get fun from driving well - in the real world sense.

But the game seems designed for hitting other people. PD/Sony probably did a survey and found that most players like being able to drive into things - other players especially. Why else would they design a game that actively rewards crashing into other drivers?

We've all discussed ways to stop it happening ... but things seem to have just got worse. We're all had the experience, but it hurts most when you either are leading a race and or have a gap in front of you - and the car close behind bumps you off on the last lap. How pathetic that the game allows that sort of behaviour. In fact, its more serious than the killing games - where evidently those of sound mind can differentiate between killing people in a game from real life. But sorry - I think core driving skills require respect and consideration all times - not just in a game. That claims its "The Real Driving Simulator". Yet GTS now encourages the opposite of respect and consideration.

I leave the Lambo at 0, I don’t find it need adjusting. :)

To all the daily races participants: I've seen people running time trials in the dailies. How is that actually possible? I thought they were only races?

I just watched the replay of the guy who beat Lester on the leaderboard for race A. Same damn thing! He definitely doesn't make it through any of those turns better than we do. The super-fast shifting is the difference. :irked:

I’ll be ordering mine in the next few days, I’ll update on the difference in time per track once I get accustomed to using it “properly”, it’s not needed every week though thankfully. Oh and for the record, the live event was all paddles and all N class cars were made to have Sequential gears to even things out, I asked about that specifically in the thread for it. Why cant all dailies be like that?

Very, once one of them figure out what the Meta for the track is, the rest usually follow suit pretty quickly in most cases. :)

Well this weeks race in the mx5 is a crash course in using the manual transmission and improving my trail breaking. Got my time down to 1.12.103 with an opt of .011. I will break 11s by the end of the week.... i hope, lol

I just started with manual last night, I always did paddles. I managed to get 8th last night on leaderboard (10th as of now). Trail braking is key and that last turn getting a good line out.

They do, but there’s enough of them out there that there’s typically always a couple floating around.

To get your poles trophy, just get a fast guy to log onto your account and do laps for you, then enter the race, quit before T1 65 times and collect your poles trophy. It’s dirty, but if you “must” have it, it’s the simplest and quickest way, you could get it in less than a single week.

For wins, the quickest way is to tank your stats to DR 1, SR 1 and next race is a gift win, again a dirty tactic but it’s the quickest way. Doing the first thing at quitting 65 races will likely land you at DR 1, SR 1 anyways, just sayin. ;)

Couple of things;
-If poles and wins are your goal, stay out of the 90-99 SR races. All the fastest people will be there.
-Also, take advantage of your good tracks. You qualified #140 at Yamagiwa, last month. You could've had 20+ poles that week.
 
Speaking of those trophies, I finally added up the stats from my three accounts, I’ve been wanting to do that for a while now but kept forgetting to. :lol:

All 3 combined I have.

116 Poles

81 Wins

405 Races Completed

80 Fastest Laps

58,809 KM Driven

I’ve got the Poles trophy on my first account, but I’m 30 wins shy of the other one still, if I had stuck to one account I’d only need 10 more. :)

Oh, and people are definitely walking away Sport Mode, especially in the past month.
