Working from home today and quickly got back to SR S. Got two consecutive "clean races" and went for a third..... didn't get and don't know why? No orange down arrows, no collisions ( I let the cars behind overtake, if there were scuffles ahead, I slowed down, sole purpose of driving today to get green SR arrows!!), showed a blue S next to my name..... but no clean race star. Weird!

Stopped now for the evening because the beer is obviously flowing in some parts, getting rammed from behind still gives me the orange down SR arrow, and will be quickly back to an A in no time in this environment!!

Lower SR S is as hard to be clean as I expected, I'm much faster than some that means I'm as much of a danger as they are and then there's the aggressive drivers that likely frequent this sort of level, which to beat I then have to be a bit rough back, which of course stops me regaining the rating. Still got another couple of wins but one was very lucky and quite dirty, first 3 cars were less than a tenth apart and I won by 0.002.

Also improved my Q time on my main ever so slightly, to improve further now requires real fine car and throttle control which I'm not consistent with at all.

I have a question I want to throw out there. Hopefully someone knows the answer. Does doing the warm up lap (or quarter lap) before the race affect the stick of the tires at all? I almost always do the warm up. One, because extra practice is always good, and it can also give you a better idea of what T1 will be like at the slower speeds from the start (at some tracks) and two, I can't type fast enough to do anything in chat in those 30 seconds, so why not.

@0604 Post a lap if you can. I'm sure people here could give some tips that might help. Sometimes little things, like gear selection, can make a huge difference.

The pre-race warmup has no effect on the car at race time. Everything resets when the race starts (fuel, tires, etc). The warm up does help you as a driver though, especially if you haven't gotten a lap in while waiting for the session to begin.

Also, I got my Race B Q time down to 1:56.682 last night. Pretty stoked :D

My record says "2 consecutive clean races"...... Never got the bonus .... Yep ....weird !

Eh? I'm wondering why I didn't get a clean race if I had no penalties, no orange down arrows, no collisions.... what do you need to do to get a "clean race"?

Track limits for penalties and clean race bonus are slightly different. Also even a tiny scrape with a wall can remove the clean race bonus.

You can cut quite a bit on Suzuka without getting a penalty. Check if you get the green SR up arrow in each sector. Collecting all of them should give you the clean race bonus. Miss one and no bonus.

The easiest way to get the clean race bonus is to drive lap 1 very carefully, then sit out the rest of the race in the pits. It really doesn't mean much lol. You can also quit the race to preserve your clean streak if you screw up.

Of course you don't get much SR if you don't race. When I was lowering my DR by driving a lap and sitting in the pit for the rest of the race I got the clean race bonus and +1 SR for the race. I tested with 2 laps and that was worth +3 SR. The maximum seems to be +21 this week (max I got for a race) for completing all 12 laps, about 1.75 per clean lap. Quitting end of lap 1 with one 4 sec penalty is about -20 SR as I found out.

I've found the clean race bonus in sport mode to be pretty random. As much as I've had races where I was sure I'd get the bonus but didn't, I've also had races where I KNOW a clean race bonus wasn't deserved but still got it!

The clean race bonus is the most frustrating achievement in the game. I am stuck at 6. At some point, no matter what level of care I take, I will finish a race without the bonus.

I am convinced that there is a bug in the system of the clean race bonus because it makes no sense. I can finish a race with a short cut penalty, and still get a clean race bonus, yet I can run an entire race with no shortcuts and no contact with anyone or anything and still miss out on the bonus.

One thing I'm wondering after watching your lap. I can't get the steering dot to go that far over at speed on a controller. Is that a difference between wheel and controller or does TCS limit my steering input or does it have to do with sensitivity settings (I'm on default) The steering dot will move further over when I slow down and it will go all the way to the edge in the hairpin, yet at higher speeds it seems limited to 70% or 80% while I have the left stick pressed as far over as possible.

I was noticing the same thing. I was thinking of doing nothing but Race C this week just to get time on the new formula cars but I'm pretty sure it's impossible to match the leading times on a controller due to this steering input issue. Until you mentioned the input I assumed it was a weight balance issue. But I immediately noticed that the car will not let you lock the steering wheel immediately at the turn in. I have to lift off the throttle for a moment just to get the nose to pitch inward in any way that reflects the turning radius of the top racing line which are usually going flat out, which means it's impossible to match their speed.

That might explain why Degner is so difficult and why the steering dot won't move over fully. I need to give it a try without TC (normally have it on 2) I'll probably be a hazard without TC my fingers aren't that precise anymore. An yep, in lap 6 the tire wear definitely makes a difference and I have to lift off pretty early to make Degner 1 at all. One early punt does a real number on the tires as well as going wide once at Degner.
Actually Sf19 tought me alot about this game. I play on controller with usually tc2 and usually BB + 3 or +4. And I was wondering where people find the time... Watching replays I take almost same lines, but I'm a lot slower through some corners.. I knew that with tc0 I should gain some speed, but main benefit is reducing understeer and cars rotate so much easier... I just need couple more thousand laps :)))

I'd be stoked with a time like that too..... Alien!👍👍👍

What car were you in??

R8. I normally run it with 0 brake balance, but I am finding that the faster I go, the more I like loose cars (and who doesn't like fast and loose) so I set the brake balance to +1. That really helps to get it pointed in right direction to open the throttle.

2 races in, first race started on pole with a very competetive A+/S field, 2nd on the grid behind me was on a 1:36.4, got a terrible start trying to use the tc1 method, reaction time felt ok but maybe I didn't switch to 0 fast enough, dropped to second, followed the guy in first while fuel saving until he went off at spoon, got heavily undercut by the new p2 who had good pace all the way through, came out 3 seconds behind with enough fuel and boost to go flat out and started catching but he also immediatly binned it at spoon ( maybe it's something I'm doing  ), so i just took it easy and brought it home for the win.

Race 2 was mega frustrating, much better start, had the line into t1 with p2's rear wing maybe alongside my rear wing JUST, but he didn't back out and we both went off ( he apologised though so no problem with that ), I then charged through the pack up to p2 by lap 3, got in p1's slipstream to spoon, got alongside on the inside and made the pass, until he slipstream's me, makes a move into the chicane, goes off and then hits me coming back on track, with a 5 second penalty just to rub salt in the wounds, pitted on lap 4 I think it was and came back to p4 or something but man, I would have been on for an almost last to first win I think if it wasn't for that :banghead:

First race of the day just caused the biggest gamer rage i have had in a while. Combination of still being tired so short tempered, and being punted from more than.5 back i to the sharp esses lap 1, i should have seen it coming i guess. Will post video later. Hit me so hard i bounced of the wall and spun in the dirt which caused a terrible lap+ to follow with "dirty" tires. My list has 4 names on it now.

on the plus side, i am back on pace after a slow day yesterday. Was pacing at 52.9 53.0 waiting to start that race. A few more rounds a lots more coffee and today might be the day i set a low 52.xxx

Next race was a green to checkers three star, so i feel a bit better now. Was a completely different room though...

Yeah, put that video up, and I'll go bounty hunting, today. 👍

I've found almost a second. Most of it from T1 to Degner 2. Almost half of it through Dunlop and Degner 1.

Thank you very much for sharing

No worries mate glad it helped - a second is a mega drop so fair play for that 👍

Pretty sure two of the top 10 stars are pad users, it may be worse in some parts of the track but has advantages in others ( direction change through the esses probably )

I didn't drive it before yesterday so some of it is probably due to experience. But carrying the momentum in 5th through the esses, emptying 4th through Dunlop and staying (almost) flat through Degner 1 is something I didn't dare try until now.

You can hit those curves sooo much faster than you think.

Some tracks work better than others. I got my first 21 streak at Interlagos and matched it on Big Willow. On some tracks it's so random I can't get past 2. And since you get SR Down when someone draft bumps you it's been a lot harder to get a long streak going.

It's weird, I've had totally contact free races on N24, all on road afaik and no bonus. I've been bumped off and taken a short cut penalty in other races and gotten the bonus. If only the game would tell you the exact moment where you lose the bonus... Sarthe is another one that seems random. Track limits for clean race bonus are a mystery.

Crap, I thought it was only server maintenance. 223 MB update file, downloaded in 10 seconds, yet now the long wait to copy the whole game again. Only 4 minutes left to sign up for the race I had time for bleh. 6 minutes later, 32% copied ugh.

had a bunch more good races this morning after that first one. two more alone out front for three star checkers, one with a good guy on my list who started in front of me. we had a good race out front with no other pressure and kept both our clean streaks going. my last race was a start in third and after the pole sitter fell apart at the start of lap two I had a great race and clean fight to the finish for the win. not sure if everyone who goes to second on the last turns is using auto or not, but I love driving by them down the straight, first time I got the win that way though.

here is the hit from my first race. doesn't look as bad as it felt, still a pretty hard it though.....

Haven't had time to play the last week or so and finally sat down for a couple races last night! First attempt was to try Race B... another reverse track? Tried for a lap or two but I just can't get into these reverse abortions so on to race A... Ran 3 laps to qualify and got a 1.53, yeah I have to get that lower but wanted to race... Was able to get two races in before I was summoned to do something else but was able to win both races with clean bonus! Was nice to play again even if it was only for 45 minutes.

OOF. I would've been livid. Did he at least get a penalty for that? Don't tell me he won :irked:

That GIF I posted yesterday? Still didn't affect my clean race bonus for that race. Go figure

Huh, next weeks races are up:

Race A - Autodrome Lago Maggiore - West II - 5 Laps - Gr.4
Race B - Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix Layout - 4 Laps - Gr.3
Race C - Fuji International Speedway - 9 Laps - N200 One Make

Maybe the request to change things up a bit has been heard. Although Fuji again. Although in an N200.
EDIT- Actually having checked, I didn't even realise there was a Lago Maggiore West variant. Let alone in reverse. That one will be completely new to me!

Oh, I haven't raced at Catalunya yet and have liveries for Gr.3. Something new to race on.
I'm not touching Fuji, definitely not with N200, I'll fall asleep on the straight.
Maggiore West reverse, doing donuts at the start sounds more fun.

For future reference, copying GTS (to install an update) takes 25 minutes on a ps4 pro with stock drive....
