I've been racing in the Aston so far and could only manage a 4:02.xxx... BUT, it's solid as a rock and i can lap in race around that time too. So even when i'm 8th on the grid and there's plenty of sub 4min lappers in front of me it just keeps in there and i feel safe - like a small child in a papoose.
I've since put a couple of qualy laps in the F1 (just because i had to know) and pretty much straight away dropped to a 4:00.xxx with BB full to the front. I was surprised it handled pretty well and there's definitely scope for improvement, but i doubt i'll be racing it because i'm a rebel. (without a cause).
Similar philosophy my friend, took the Aston for my first race, similar experience to the AMG but I am trying to broaden the car pool I use a little, have had the Aston since early game so I usually use it to get a feel for tracks, that or the Supra if I really feel like burning some rubber.

EDIT: Wish I felt like I could drive clean in the McLaren. That central driving position...

Wow! Nice lap my friend....

I can't decide if i should drop to 2nd or not for t2. Gotta try no brake for 3...

Thanks man, this car has been frustrating the hell out of me all week.

Definitely drop to second for T2, but hold 3rd as long as you can while braking and turning, it’s less rolling resistance, then click to 2nd just before exit to get more power. No brakes for T3 is big too, any little touch of the brakes kills too much speed, but you have to let of earlier and coast a bit. I want that .5 now!! :)

This is my lap, it’s far from perfect but it will give you an idea of what I mean, I dropped to 2nd in T2 a little early on this lap, I’d have liked to hold 3rd a little longer there, until about the Apex ideally.

Feel like I'm not too bad through this corner (lap is a 1:01 something), been lifting around the start of the kerbstones (I think) but i am in something of a battle with myself about what gear to have on exit. In 2nd around t2, holding uber tight line gives me third down the hill but im in low revs for ages after t3 and 2nd gear is definitely there for the grabbing but not sure where to downshift as I ain't brakin' for nobody son

EDIT: now that I think about it Scandi flicks are super tempting there

I’m letting off way before the right curb for T3 now, quite a bit before, I was holding throttle until the curb before but I’d always have to use brakes that way to take the corner.

Stay in 3rd around and after T3, you lose too much time in the shift with this car, the less shifting the better. Same for the last corner, stay in 3rd the whole time

Very helpful man, thanks. Beautiful line through final corner, been doing fuji style **** there, definitely way slower. Slower lap than yours to follow.

NP man, always happy to help when I can.

You’ll want to avoid any sliding or breakage of traction at all with this car, going a little slower in a higher gear without breaking traction is actually faster in these slow cars a lot of the time. :)

I’m finally starting to figure out T3 and brands Hatch, it’s been killing my laps. I was letting off the gas way to late and even using some brake at times when in reality I needed to be letting off earlier and using no brake at all lol. Still more to find there but I finally broke into the 58’s at least! :)

Turn 3 or Turn 4? You should be able to hit Turn 3 (Surtees) going flat out. If you're talking about T4 (McClaren), then I really should try coasting through there.

EMEA race b is pretty much a McLaren spec series in the DR A/SR99 lobbies.

yet, the fastest time in the world was set on a huaracan...
I think if I wheel-pedal user I would definitely use the huaracan. I'm only 1s slower than with the F1. It's way more stable over the curbs and it brake way better, but it suffers from massive oversteering

Started 7th behind a Spaniard, his car didn't move off the line on the rolling start so my car and everyone else behind me came to a stop for a couple seconds while the top 5 drove off in the distance. GG pd.

the same happened to me in suzuka Gr.4 few weeks ago. Blocked for 10-15s but we still managed to catch up because the front pack was driving dirty af and getting penatlies...

Avoid sliding... It's against my programming, but I'm down to 1:00.181 already, much quicker. Could hunt the sub minute, but imma go race a little first.

Race B really seems to have cleaned up now that everyone has got to grips with it and understands that the different cars have different braking points.

My SR was at 97 and wanted to get it back to 99 for FIA tonight. Entered Race B, got a clean race bonus, SR is now 98 :boggled:
Yup. I just did race B in a mixed D/E SR group. I was just trying to raise my SR, so I started 13th out of 15, and let the two guys behind me go by at the beginning. Just cruised around, nice and easy. Never really tried hard to make a pass. Got 4th and a clean race. The entire room was either blue or white at the end. I guess everyone was there for rehabilitation.

T3 on this map. :)

Righto guys, and girls. Warts and all. Hints? Tips?

Yup. That's the driving line you can see at the end. I'll be turning it off later.

Here's my two cents.

1 - Switch to the Aston. It may not be the outright fastest car, but IMHO it's the easiest car to go fast in. Set the Brake balance to +1
2 - TCS off, but I get it if you prefer it on.

(I will use the corner names so you may need a map with names).

3 - At the Dunlop chicane, you'll gain a lot of time by almost getting a penalty. try to keep two tires on the track, but also try to touch the curbing with those outside tires. It's super easy to get a penalty, but if you don't, you'll gain a boatload of time.
4 - At the Playstation chicane, slow down a little more so you can clip the curbing of the middle part of the chicane. It will allow for a better exit.
5 - At the Michelin chicane, you blew the entry, which blows the middle, which compromises the exit. You have to touch those curbs.
6 - I think you can go through the Porsche curves faster. Your speed should be such that you drift out to the wall (but don't touch it).

If you do that, you should be able to get the Aston into the high 3:57's based on what I see in your video.

Race B: Grid P6 Race P2 - qualified at a horrid mid 4:03 due to a few botched sliding, the start was rather quiet until I accidentally run over a kerb and earning 0.5 seconds. The first lap was more focused on getting my grips up to level, and drafting a NA car. Ended up 5th at the moment, one goes off Indianapolis after turning out in a freak accident which gave me a lucky spot up.

Last lap was the chase, drafted through the NSX and pulling off (thanks to my trusty supercharger) like a rocket. Ended up tailing the other car until a poor guy took the gravel, and I jumped over to take the runner-up position till the flag, though there was a little tussle where both me and 3rd place almost lost it round the corner. All clean racing though.

If I can nail a 3:57.4 in a Porsche, then surely you can nail that in an Aston! ;)

It never ceases to amaze me how fast this thread moves. Busy days, but I managed to race 3 C races last night (sacrificing sleep). 2 of them I got pushed off early, and we all know what tires are like after that. Raced all from the back (it's just too fun!). Had some fast rooms. One had a 25 on pole, with 26's to 11th place. My 27.5 on my main account would have put me in 14th I think. I had 2 offs in that race to finish 9th. Got punted from 11th in the second hairpin on lap 1 (up 8 places already!) in the other "bad" race, then was held up by a group of about 5 who were banging about and only managed 14th, up 3 positions. The best race, and one of my all time bests, I started last in P20. Pretty fast room, with the top 5 in the 26's and 27's back to 12th. My Q would have had me in 9th. It amazes me that I can start slow, drive safe and conservative, and pass people that only make large errors, and usually get to 10th in the first lap, even in a room this fast. Anyways, people were pretty respectful, I got no penalties, and stayed pretty clean until after the pit stop. By then I was up to 6th, and could see 2nd place at the hairpin. Had 4th at one point, but the guy I was racing, though not a punter, was really aggressive, and a blocker, and pushed me off track in the hairpin on lap 11. Finished 5th, up 15 spots. Great race, but I would have liked to mix it up for a podium. Maybe tonight.

Dude, you gotta try to get out with us on a Saturday, You’ll have a blast!

I started 3rd, using the ninja doubleshift to squirt up into second around t1. So much faster than anyone through t3, i smell the blood.

Little bit of positioning but no battle, i'm staying close. The dude I passed comes by around t2, he has 3s penalty the poor guy. Let him past.

Dude in first just absolutely bottles it into the gravel, you know where.

Curiously, the guy had pole with a 59.something and braked super hard into the final corner, like I had been before getting down to my 1.01... He definitely gave me a lot of ground there. Maybe he got spooked by me coasting up to him and gaining so much ground and that's why he bottled it down the hill.

Anyways I play it safe through the start of lap 2. I'm right up in p1s bumper and I know I'm gonna shoot off purely by coasting through the last bend and smashing it down the back straight. This gave me a couple seconds by t1.

it's a sort of uncomfortable lead, not being the quickest by what the QTs say, but I'm just churning and gaining time. I guess they were battling each other back there.

last lap... Last corner... I had a 9 second lead... I slid the back out for fun, ever so slightly too far, but saved it and chucked some gravel, just to spite @PigemsI

Victory, Clean Race, Fastest Lap. On the cusp of DR B. Gonna leave it for this evening though.

Thanku senpai

@Pigems that is a great lap man!

I am having a hard time trying to push it for a 58. I believe i can do it, but perhaps not today as i am a little off concentration wise (Going to a funeral this afternoon) but i have the pieces i need to put it together....

T3 on this map. :)

Ah, I see I'm completely wrong. Thanks for the insight, I usually pop the brake there just to rotate the car but it's awesome to know that lifting the throttle is enough to do the job.

Is it a regular time? When? I work this Saturday, but should have some time in the evening (EST)

It starts Saturday nights at 9pm EST, but you can jump in whenever you get there, or leave early if need be, it’s just for fun. We do two runs of each daily race, the second being a reverse grid to mix things up. Also race C is cut in half and run without tire/fuel wear to make it more accessible for people to try out and cut down on time. Anyone is welcome to join us any Saturday, there is a link to the thread in the bottom of my posts. :)

That's a very smooth looking lap bud. I knew you could do it. Well done!

Thanks man! You’ve gotta be so delicate with this car to maintain its speed, it’s maddening at times.

Oh crap, I just realized I forgot to do the double shift up/shift down thing, I wonder how much time it’s worth?

Sex? Sit? Sun? SPA!?

I had a test lobby open last night, a buddy jumped in and when I tried to tell him that tire wear was on X3 the PS4/GTS censored it to “ tire wear is on ** ” on me. Any idea why X3 get censored?

This Race B is a big **** sometimes. It is a potential cool race with slipstream and high speed, braking and so on.
But then, there are sone guys braking so early, that there is no other way for avoid a crash. They know you can brake later and they just drive in front of your car for getting divebombed.

Kaz hates ugly, pointless lifestyle crossovers.

Or possibly the Sony filter (which is what GT uses) thinks X3 is shorthand for XXX, as in videos of boinking.

The Circus is in town and all the freaks have come out to play! Last night race matching was pretty good, with the odd higher DR but nearly all DR/D. No such luck tonight. Qualified faster tonight with the heavy chevy than last night with the R8. That had me starting P9/16 for the first race (pole for the DR/Ds) with a mix of DR/A/B/C ahead. Second race had me starting P10/15. Again pole for the DR/Ds, but the first 4 positions were DR/A and the next 5 DR/B.

First race gets going, autodrive drops me on the exit first of the last two chicanes and left me to negotiate the second one. On the plus side that left a gap of more than 1s behind me so I could focus on Dunlop. Squeeked through there ok and off I went. My joy was short lived as I was slapped with a 0.5s penalty at Tertre Rouge.

The race progressed fairly steady from there, the big V8 burbling lazily away. Picked up another penalty on the exit at Corvette and kept on trucking. I was kinda enjoying the scenery as I trundled around the track..slight difference to the 2:40 laps I'd been doing every day with the Red Bull Standard . Second lap was focused more on not getting any penalties. Was doing ok till I got the red sausage on the exit to the final chicane wrong and ended up in the sand. I picked up a 1s penalty and could see the gap behind evaporating as I desperately scrambled to find my way back to the tarmac. I crossed the line with the penalty fractions of a second ahead of the guy behind... he was carrying a penalty too so position maintained :D. That precious position being P8. The game optimistically had my door number #1 . SR blue, Dr went up 480.

Back into the fray for a second race. Not much variation at the top end of town with a couple of F1s and a murder of GT-Rs in front. Same start. I had a good view of the tussle with the 3 guys in front of me down Mulsanne. There was a lot more argy bargy this race.. usually is when DR/Bs are involved .

Second lap I gained a few positions and was doing ok till in typical fashion some muppet came along. Despite the fact I was left , about a tyre width from the edge of the track, with two car widths free on the right side, that they would pass me on the right .. on the grass :banghead:. They then side swiped me to get to the apex for the right hander coming up. He finished ahead of me as the only one in the race with a red SR. I finished P8 again.

SR blue, DR up 540. Another day above DR 1 :dopey:.
