Hmm... a hundred pounds of yeast and some copper line ooor..... pre-order GTS.... I'm beginning to think I should have gone with the first option... :banghead:. No more Monza for me, I'm all Monza'd out and will be happy if it never darkens my track line up again :grumpy:. I should have spent the week chasing the Dragon... at least I would have gotten proper match ups and possibly fewer 🤬 rear ending me repeatedly till I finally get knocked off the track. Lets hope next week is better <sigh>. Ok rant over. DR 1 is just a race away .

4 more Monza races, and I'm coming to the conclusion that over 50% of drivers want to race clean, but it only takes a small number of bad drivers to cause chaos. In several of them, people around me seemed to generally "get" the general principle of waiting for things to settle down a bit over the first lap or two before even attempting to overtake anyone. These races gained me 1000ish DR per race. There was still some bad driving, but I managed to negotiate those people without anything hugely disastrous happening. The one exception was where someone punted me onto the gravel on the exit from L1T1. No reset to save me there, so it was down to 16th, and I decided to prioritise avoiding collisions from there on, so finished 15th, but only lost 400 DR, so I just looked at it as a long term thing. If everything other than a complete disaster is gaining me 1000 DR, and a complete disaster only loses me 400 DR, and only one race in 4 is a complete disaster, then it's just a matter of patience. The last race was particularly great with some close early racing against someone where we both kept it clean, followed by a strategic choice of lap to pit relative to the leader that allowed me to hunt him down in the last 3 laps with fresher tyres. Finished 2nd, just under a second behind the winner, with a 16:58 total time. Will capture the replay of that one for youtube some time.

Finally getting home after a busy morning to do some racing. But, I did manage to squeeze a quick sesh in. :D

What’s the best/cleanest race for actual racing this week? B?

Woo hoo! I finally got the DTG win I’d been craving! Other than putting in five solid mistake-free laps, it was helped for one by racing on a Friday night when everyone else was out having a life (just call me King if the Off-Peak Hours). I will admit to winning because two there ahead of me made errors but I’ll take what I can get.

And the other is exploiting the car that bestows the unfair advantage to the average driver, in this case the Megane. Solid and stable in the twisty bits and a surprising amount of speed on the straights. The start with this car is quite peppy indeed. It has enough acceleration to get right up on the Lamborghinis going in to turn one. Only managed to parlay that into an actual pass once but it helps in keeping up with the lead pack.

A win, a couple of thirds, some fourths and fifths and a lot of keeping the back of the mid-pack honest. All in all a good week at my favorite track. Now to focus on the Supra race and maybe some FIA and lots of spectating on TV tomorrow!

I’ve found race B to be super clean this week with the rooms I’ve been in (I’ve been stubbornly clinging to a B/S). There’s usually a half dozen Dr A and S drivers in there. Only a couple of post race squabbles and I haven’t had any what-is-that-guy-doing moments.

Sweet, thanks! That’s what I was hoping.

I did about 12-15 B races on Thursday, and went from 44 to 93. I raced with a Q time.

If you start in the first couple of spots, you should be able to take turn one, on lap one with just a bit of a throttle lift and no brakes.

Thanks for the tip man, I think I’m gonna Qualify for it.

You racing today?

Some nice view you got there! But yea my experience is race B for sure this week. Even tho there are people who think ramming the inside fits in the street of clean pasing.

I think I'll enjoy Brands Hatch.

Brands just isn't my happy place so I think we'll do without Gr.3 next week.

I think I may have to take the mighty TT back to Autopolis. I had fun a couple of weeks back, feel there's some unfinished/unrealised business there.

I think I'm done with Monza as well actually. I will probs just throw some Gr.4s around DTG and do a load of QTT for the rest of the weekend.

First race on a Saturday in the Genesis. I got tapped from behind in Ascari while following close behind traffic. Nothing to do about it, too many slow downs in the penalty zone causing congestion in Ascari. It's chaos already, lot of red ratings including As and Bs. The Genesis is pretty quick. I did another race last night with it and got a 1:49.8 with it. Unfortunately also tapped from behind. It has great brakes while being able to draft pass as well, good for racing from the back.

Second attempt, starting 20th, my favorite spot. Must not pass anything until after lap 1 Ascari. Can't get in between recoveries, penalty zone slowdowns and slow traffic. The penalty zone really makes Ascari the worst place in the backfield.

Second attempt, a MacBWaren defends the inside on the way to Parabolica. Sure go ahead, you don't stand a chance against the brakes of the Genesis. I keep the outside line. Then just before the 100 marker he swerves left to block while slamming on the brakes :banghead: Can't avoid that, SR Down for me. Got to remember I'm dealing with low IQ here, Saturday morning.

Third attempt spoiled by a GT-R. It started with a MacLaren trying to out brake the Genesis for the chicane... All I could do was to stop to avoid him, but should have just turned in and give him a penalty. Instead the next car comes through who screws up the exit at Lesmo 2. The next car now tries to dive me at Ascari, pushes me into the rumble strip but I hang on. So now I'm slow out of Ascari stay on the right. The next car coming up seems determined to pass on the right where there is no room. So I move left to avoid him bumping me but he moves left as well after realizing his car doesn't fit on the right. I get Sr Down of course despite getting bumped into the grass sigh.

Then there's this specimen at the end. Avoid at all cost. He claims I hit him first. F GT-Rs.

No penalty for him whatsoever, just keep on ramming.

4th attempt. A MacBWaren keeps ramming me at the apex. He doesn't defend the inside, he has to brake early, the Genesis can brake really late, so I am fully alongside before turn in with enough speed scrubbed to hug the inside, yet every time he proceeds to ram me at the apex, not once, not twice, 4 times until he finally gets a penalty from ramming me into the inside wall at Parabolica. I lose 2 spots, one crashes out, the other a clean pass at the second chicane. I catch up to the MacBWaren after the penalty zone and he rams me into the wall. Sigh. He was the only one leaving the room with a red A, I always seem to find them.

5th attempt. I go for the last resort, no stop. I save up fuel in the first 6 laps so I have 50% left for the last 4. That seems to work but don't uderestimate Brazilians.
Jjo64Nb.gif

3 sec penalty, clean race gone again. He claims I braked in the middle of the turn... No brake input at all.

Penalty system 5, me 0. I give up for now, sun just peeked out. Saturdays suck in GTS.

I was in your last attempt there. I had fallen to the back of the pack and came up two cars behind you. I saw you give the Brazilian wide berth so I assumed you were still good for a clean race so I tried to give you as much space as possible. You are right about the genesis brakes. I drafted you through Carva grande, side by side, I hit my brakes qt my spot and you didn't touch yours for probably 0.5 secs. I was impressed. Straight line speed is not there though.

BTW, I always chuckle when you complain about GT-Rs. I remember that I started using them for high speed tracks after you, driving one, blew by me in my attenza as if I was standing still during one of the dailies in Tokyo south loop. I tried it, won the next race and loved the way it ran.

Thanks Svenno. Sorry they cause you so much grief

I've never really liked the Gr.3 cars. I'd prefer that the Brands Hatch race was a one-make with a 60s/70s muscle car. The Challenger would be a lot of fun. But for me it's still more appealing than the other two races, next week.

Next week's Race A car at Autopolis is specially provided/not a garage car and usually a One-Make so the TT isn't a guarantee. Unless PD are planning to have multiple Gr.4s available to use which would be a first.

Aha. Yes. Didn't get the memo on that one. Oh well. Stock livery o'clock it is then. How dull.

I just don't think there's enough room around there for decent racing at my level. The consequences for being rubbish are just too high!!!

Gr.3s will just be too big and bulky. 4C territory.

Only did 1 Race B today.

QT 1:39.312. Personal target time achieved but wasn't enough. Started 12th. Finished 10th. Clean. Still lost 200 DR although the grid was DR B and above.

Competition is tough. At the start of the week I though 1:39.5 would be good enough for Top 5 at DR B. :scared:

The last four times I can remember them doing Gr.4 specially provided car it was Huracan/Kyoto, Scirocco/Maggiore Center, Scirocco/Maggiore Center, TT Maggiore West. Rear-wheel drive would be cool.

Down to SR B again on my GTP account, lots of SR down for bumps from behind and general sideswipes down the straights. Cars out of control hitting me and other cars and the game always blames me and slams a penalty on me. Then I was dc'd the next race too just to make things worse.

Also it seems people have a new "tactic" on the back straight at Monza, especially if they have had a penalty, they ride in the middle of the road and then whichever side you take they move over meaning even if you get past them you've been forced onto the grass or are just slow into the second half of Ascari where they then lightly bump the back quarter of your car and cut the next part of the chicane, you are then hit with a penalty for causing it and they get the place back, happened multiple times to me now. :( How on earth does a car behind hit the car in front, go off but go past anyway and get the car that is now behind the one they "hit" a penalty, this is just stupid, at least take in to account if you gain a position from what the game sees as a wrong move. :irked:

Oh and the one time I actually did bump a car wide and off track when passing the game just ignored it, bonkers. It mainly just gives out unfair SR deductions and penalties, it's no wonder the racing is bad. At least I can get away from this by using my other account, this rubbish is likely every race for the lower A and higher B rated drivers if they don't join in the bumping and barging and the attempts to give your opponent an unfair penalty.:O

My 'love' for the GT-R stems from Mount Panorama when I was testing all GR.3 cars there a long time back. Way before it became a meta car. For some reason it was always the GT-R drivers that punted me (and others) off using it like a battering ram rather than a car. Since over half the room uses it now, the chances that a dirty or reckless driver is in one is pretty high. Plus I always found it rather boring to drive, no clue why PD boosted that one. I still have 7 cars left to drive on Monza, including the GT-R. I might not even get to it if it doesn't clear up a bit.

I made it back home before the next thunderstorm, SR up (went cycling for a couple hours) I still have stuff to do outside but the rain already started, back to Monza then!

'Rain'

The road is a river right now.

6th attempt failed. 2 GT-Rs this time. Why do people driving that think they can out brake the Genesis... Swerve blocking is back as well, Saturday lol. I still keep the blue S but clean bonus is gone when tapped by a GT-R. I had some fun retaliatory battles with them. Apparently you indeed do not get SR Down for a late dive, bump from the inside and it's the outside car's fault. It's all backwards. got to drive dirty to get clean bonus  I'll keep trying the real clean way.

The last corner at Monza can be thrilling! I had the best pass I've ever had there earlier this week, and then this happened last night. I was trying to play it cool on the last lap since the Mustang is faster and I was 4 secs ahead, but I lost it at the first chicane and he caught up by the end. Sounds like I've had a lot of luck with lobbies and T1, so it's been very enjoyable for me.

Here we go, I'd say this was the best race I had at Monza this week. I suspect I won't be able to bring myself to race it again for fear of repeating the depressing experience of Tokyo Nations Cup today.

7th attempt (or rather 9th including the 2 last night) success!!!

I'm glad that's over. Better brakes is not that great an advantage when people generally don't pay attention.

This is how to safely pass a MacBWaren in the Genesis.

I tried before by sticking close behind through Parabolica yet the Genesis loses too much ground while drafting the Mac. You can still easily out brake them and be alongside before turn in, yet it becomes such a deep dive that you have 90% chance they'll turn in on you. The only way is to get ahead and make it known you are there, hence I already had to pass him at Parabolica to have a smaller gap to dive. If he hadn't spun out then stay right to the second chicane, make the Mac drive around. It should be easy now to out brake the Mac there, if they get a little ahead, then create a gap through Lesmo and Ascari.

One scare during that race when the Corvette in front of me ran out of fuel before the pit. Luckily he left just enough room for me to get around.

I still had to avoid some dive bombs that harmlessly slid off the far side of the corner, standard stuff for Monza, yet overall it was the cleanest race today. Only 2 red ratings, 1 neutral and 1 quit.

The rain has gone, back to work outside, then bbq. No more Genesis!

Happy enough with my Q time. There's a couple more tenths in it. But, I've not had the time to get more practice in. The racing is is either good, or terrible. Mainly because of people dive bombing overtakes . . On the plus side, Corvette seems like a great car for the race. Can't seem to gel with it while qualifying, though.

DR is up to 24,554, SR is down to 93.

I don't have much faith in next week being much better. Sprint at Brands will be messy, and I'm terrible around Suzuka.

Maybe week of livery creation is in order . .

Just to prove it can happen, this is the most respectful turn 1 at monza I've ever seen. I was slightly worried about the car behind me who had a bit of a run on me but even they back out of it. I had a brilliant race with the person behind me who was super clean. I accidentally punted him through the second chicane later on, but fortunately no positions lost for either of us and I somehow still get a clean race bonus? Finished 5th but one of the best races I've had here.

I love this kind of posts. Clean, smart drivers deserve recognition.

Trying to flood my racing with the Atenza. I haven't used it since FIA races and I remember now. It's not super fast, 2nd gear is lazy, 1st gear is too short, it has fantastic corner exit acceleration. Understeer, understeer, understeer at The Beach Hairpin. Suprised with keeping up with the Huracans
D7cs21bU0AAUJCB.jpg

Using advise from this thread: I shut the door, as a Huracan was bumping me and trying to nudge me at The Four Brothers.

The "OyVey"ron smoked me. I started 2nd and got a 1 second red dunce cap from understeer, at "Dragon's Neck" esses. Huracan passed me at the PZ. Pushed hard and caught up. Got an awesome exit on the final corner to just miss second by 0.009 seconds.
